Enjoyed a taste of the Big Easy for lunch. Our waitress was a joy but I didn't catch her name. Service was on point. Atmosphere was fun with some great bar specials. We were there for lunch and wanted to try everything. I ordered the Muffalotta with she crab soup. I ordered the 1/2 Muffalotta and I was sure glad I did. It was huge. Ended up taking some home. Unlike the ones I've had in NOLA, this sandwich was grilled. And I loved it! Added an extra crunch and melty cheese. Yum. My husband ordered The Taste of Loisianna. Serving sizes were plenty. He opted for the gator instead if shrimp. After trying everything. Our favorite was the sausage and beans. It had the best flavor. The jambalaya was very rice heavy. And the gumbo was just ok. Nothing was overly spiced. We met one of the owners on our way out. He mentioned they are hoping to add steam tables. This would allow them to offer oysters and shrimp. So keep an eye out for this! I had The Big Easy cater a breakfast for my office, and the entire experience was perfect! Kevin was fantastic with communication, the delivery arrived right on time and fresh, and he set everything up beautifully--making sure it was all just right before he left. And the food... WOW. My team of 20 was unanimously impressed. The flavors were incredible! We had two different stratas, chicken and waffles, pimento cheese grits, fruit, potatoes, and pastries--everything was delicious! This was our second time trying this place, and I'm glad we did! The service was great. It wasn't busy at all when we went in, server was friendly and helped us fast. Food also came out fast. I tried the muffuletta, as I had tried my first one in New Orleans back in January and wanted to see how it compared. The bread itself was a bit thinner but overall, I would say the muffuletta was the best one north of New Orleans! Also, the hand cut fries were delicious and perfectly salted. Excellent food and great atmosphere. I never come to this part of Cary. So, when my friend suggested this place, I was ready to try it. Located in strip mall, it can be easy to overlook. This restaurant is a very popular place. There is plenty of parking and we went on a Saturday night right before the large dinner rush and still found parking. The menu is reminiscent of a New Orleans restaurant. They have everything from Gator bites to jambalaya to gumbo and crawfish etouffee. They even have Beignets for dessert! We started dinner with the gator bites which was well seasoned. For my entree, I ordered the blackened catfish topped with crawfish etouffee which was divine. I love the gumbo here. I've had many different types of gumbo and this gumbo is a thick roux that I have completely fallen in love with, and I'm not sure that I can get this kind of gumbo anywhere else. GO SAINTS read more

It lacked flavor and was very underwhelming. It also had an off putting liquid on top when served; I just stirred it before I had a taste. My husband started with the Seafood Gumbo, he also wasn't impressed. We both ordered "A Taste of Louisiana", which came with jambalaya, gumbo, sausage red beans and rice, and a choice of shrimp or alligator - I chose the shrimp and he chose the alligator. The gumbo and jambalaya weren't seasoned very well and didn't have much of a flavor. We agreed that the best thing on the plate was the red beans and rice. *if I chose to go again, that is the one thing from this visit I would order again* The kids ordered the fried shrimp platter - they did enjoy them. Joined a group of friends for dinner last night and had the best food and service! The waitress was so sweet, friendly and attentive. The drinks and food came out quickly. I ordered the french dip w fries, the sandwich was delicious but the fries were a bit overcooked and not crispy but still tasted good. Other dishes ordered was the catfish platter and some kind of sample of four different dishes, all looked nice and everyone seemed happy with their choices. They didn't have frozen margaritas, only on the rocks so that's what I got. It tasted good but didn't have much tequilla. Prices were reasonable, I plan on going back and try other stuff. read more

We celebrated here after a friends intimate wedding ceremony. We had a reservation and were a few minutes late but they were very accommodating even with us being late. The restaurant was nice but didn't give me the "Cajun Vibe" for lack of a better term. It felt more country bar/restaurant. Overall it was a nice space. Our servers were great and very attentive to our party of 11. The table had various plates including a couple Taste of Louisianas, the Beef Brisket Sandwich, and Chicken and Sausage Gumbo. Our starters were the fried pickles, nachos, and the Brussel Sprouts and they were all delicious. The Brussel sprouts had a nice kick to them. My dish was the Salmon Lafayette, Seasoned Rice, and Mixed Vegetables and I also ordered a side of the She Crab soup. The salmon was cooked well but severely under seasoned. It had no flavor at all except the typical salmon taste, same goes for the rice; very under seasoned. The food was a little salty, and the gator bites were tougher than previous ones I've had before, but the green tomato poboy was incredible. The bread on the poboy was so soft and the green tomatoes were the perfect texture. The seafood platter was delicious, with a generous serving of fried oysters and shrimp. Y'all! How did we not know about this place?!?! Everything was amazing, fresh, and flavorful We ordered a shrimp po boy and catfish po boy. Each sandwich comes with a bag of kettle chips. The bread on the sandwich was extremely soft, almost melt in your mouth action. I have a shellfish allergy and told them, they were accommodating in letting me know what had shellfish in it, what was near shellfish, and what was cooked away from shellfish. I greatly appreciated the details and time taken to take my allergies under consideration! Now, back to the food! My sister had the shrimp po boy - she said it was well worth the money and she would definitely get it again. We visited the food truck location, so I can't speak for the actual brick location. I was in Raleigh for a work training and looked for a local restaurant to have dinner. I found The Big Easy Oven & Tap via Google, which honestly was a no brainer for me. I love New Orleans and just about everything about Cajun/Creole food, so the menu looked very promising. My friend picked me up from my hotel, Sheraton Imperial Raleigh-Durham, which was no more than 15 minutes away from The Big Easy Oven & Tap. The restaurant was located in a neighborhood complex with a grocery store and other retailers. We arrived around 7pm on a Monday night and were advised to sit anywhere we wanted. It wasn't that busy, but there was a consistent flow of guests in and out of the restaurant. Monday night football was on, so the bar was more crackin' than the main dining areas. The overall experience was a solid 3.5 stars that I'm rounding up to a 4. The food was fairly average, but the customer service was truly make or break for me. With that said, customer service was excellent. There was definitely no shortage of staff. As soon as we sat down, we were greeted by a gentlemen who gave us the menus and helped us with sampling some of the beers on tap and placing our drink orders. Additionally, we were also assisted by a head waitress who took down our entree orders and frequently checked up on us. Then there was a 3rd server who actually brought out and served our food. I found everyone to be very friendly, personable, and attentive. Southern hospitality runs deep here for sure, and kudos to the cooks and kitchen staff as well for preparing our food promptly! I ordered the beef brisket sandwich with a side of fried okra per recommendation of our main server. She did not lead me astray! It was pretty tasty. Although the beef brisket was not that fatty, which I would normally prefer, I didn't mind how lean it was because of how tender the meat was. The single fried onion and sweet BBQ sauce were what brought the sandwich together. Can't go wrong with the side of fried okra either. The She Crab soup was excellent, but the Crawfish Etouffee was not my favorite. I usually lean towards thick, white chowders, so when I first saw the She Crab soup, I was a little bit disappointed; it was less thick and less white than my ideal. But boy was I wrong to prejudge. The flavors were full and delicious. I only got a cup, not the bowl, but it was the perfect portion size. It definitely had some thickness to it - it wasn't soupy like a broth - and it turned out to be excellent. Highly recommended. On the other hand, the crawfish etouffee was a little disappointing. There was an oversized ball of rice in the middle with a little etouffee around the circumference. Now it's often served this way, but this rice ball was way too big. There was not enough etouffee and the rice was pretty dry and not great. The other issue I had with the etouffee, and this is probably a personal preference, is that it was too tomato based. It was a darker reddish brown roux but I prefer a brighter orange color that's a little more creamier. This crawfish etouffee was a little too bitter and tomato-y for my tastes, almost like a Cambell's Manhattan Clam Chowder soup. But maybe that's your thing! The spice profile was nice with a peppery bite, but I didn't care for the overall taste. I wish they had pictures on their website menu. They have very few pictures and none of the etouffee. Sports bars and Raleigh is a missing void. It's extremely difficult to find a sports bar that has several TV's, a large bar, respectable food and outdoor space. This comes close to hitting all those marks. It has lots of TV's which is great and a large projector for big games. No outdoor bar (which is desperately needed for the area), but the indoor bar seats a good amount. Service was good. Staff are very friendly, but short staffed it seems like many places during the pandemic. However, by far the best part about this place are the wings. They are the best I've had in Raleigh.
