Lady owner was plain rude. New customer, I dropped off an item a couple weeks ago, handed a $29.95 paper receipt for payment due I thought included everything (cleaning + a few stitches). When I went for pickup, I expressed surprise that the receipt I had did not also include sewing. She repeatedly stated it only shows the cleaning portion. Would have been good to know two weeks ago, lady. Customer service/kindness is lacking here. And potentially upfront honesty/transparency on what will be owed. Ok for dry cleaning but can't recommend for alterations, even hemming. Removed a flounce from a lace dress in order to shorten the hem, and sewed the flounce back on inside out, very obvious because the unfinished seaming showed and the wrong side of the lace was a lighter color. Discovered this four days before the wedding, and when I took it back the lady told me that was how it was made, didn't want to do a quick turnaround. Yikes! read more

We have been customers for years. And while they still do a great job, are super friendly and very customer service oriented, I recently had 2 men's shirts and 3 women's blouses dry cleaned. Nothing special; no additional services, and the total cost was $65. I had noticed their rates going up. $13 per item is just too costly. At this point, we're going towards more wash-and-wear and bypassing dry cleaning. If you do need their services, I still highly recommend, but not affordable on a budget. read more

The cleaning and laundry of our clothes has always been excellent. They are very organized and have a fine attention to detail. Alternation seekers beware! Red ribbon as a strap extender added to my orange lace dress? I think not. I went in and asked for a dress that I previously had the straps taken in to be let out again. You could see the previous folded extra material underneath where the dress meets at the shoulder and there was slight room for it to be taken out again. The woman and I chatted about what I wanted and said it'd cost $20. Okay, sure, I'm no sewing pro so $20 doesn't seem bad. In addition, I wanted it dry cleaned and had another dress and blazer to be dry cleaned, she printed a ticket that totaled $51.95. Seems a bit pricey but I am new to the area so I'm unfamiliar local prices. Fast forward to today. I pick up my dry cleaning and pull out the dress to examine. I look at the straps and there's red ribbon where the two pieces of my orange dress's straps meet. Um, pardon me, where in the conversation did I say I wanted red ribbon to extend the straps? For one, it looked terrible and two, this isn't Project Runway where the tailor can take it upon herself to do as she pleases. I'm livid. The guy said the woman would be in at 10:30 and to come back. No apologies from the business yet...and definitely not how I was hoping to start my Monday. I return during my lunch break and they're in the process of fixing my dress - removing the visible red ribbon. They try to explain what happened, but it's still not clear to me why they would take it upon themselves to alter my dress in a way that had not been discussed. I go to pick up my dress and dry cleaning after work. 3rd time is a charm, right? They have removed all ribbon and supposedly let out the straps (I've tried on the dress now that I'm home and don't notice a difference from when I initially took it in). The woman is ringing me up and offers a $1.95 discount. I tell her in all honesty, the customer services hasn't been stellar whatsoever as they haven't taken ownership in their mistake nor have they apologized and a $2 discount isn't really all that great. I give her the honest truth that as a first time customer I won't be returning for said reasons and that I'm wondering why I still have to pay full price (-$2) for an alteration they completely screwed up on. She then apologizes and offers a $5. Okay, sure, glad to know my complaining skills got me $3 more off. To top it off, both dress zippers don't run as smoothly now...dry clean issue possibly? Don't know, don't care as I won't be back. Based on the reviews, most of their customers seem to be quite happy with their experience and I'm glad they have a loyal customer base. Although, few seem to use their alteration services. Honestly, if you're getting shirts dry cleaned there probably isn't much risk but I highly caution choosing this place to do any of your alterations. Closing note: For perspective, yes, my dress is all material thing that is replaceable but also if you're paying for a service, I think a reasonable expectation is for the service to be completed as instructed/discussed. read more

I've always thought of "Dry Clean Only" as more of a kind suggestion then an actual direction. Walking into TS Cleaners was eye opening. I saw a number of things hanging I would've tossed in the washer without the bat of an eye. Wow...a whole new world of clothing care. I came in to have my wedding dress cleaned. List that under things they don't tell you about getting married - you turn into a sweaty mess. I hadn't thought much about it until I arrived for the drop off. When I opened the dress bag I felt my chest tense up and a lump gather in my throat. I suddenly became very fearful and strangely emotional about something potentially happening to my dress. With hesitation I passed the dress off and was told to come back a week later. There was a bit of a language barrier at times with logistics but it all worked out. You know what doesn't have a barrier? Kindness, and they were so friendly and happy for the business. Specifically, an older lady who seemed like she'd been in the dry cleaning biz long before I was even a twinkle in my mothers eye. She was very chatty and friendly and ultimately made me calm down about leaving my dress. My dress came back nice and fresh. The more delicate part of my dress was a little messed up but nothing earth shattering. My husbands jacket looked great. In retrospect I might have called around a bit to see who could handle something as fragile as my dress. With normal "Dry Clean Only" things I'm sure they would nail it. Took them a pair of pants to be hemmed. The pants had a contrasting bright red stitch in the hem. When I got them back the hem had been stitched with gray thread. When I took them back to get the right thread color, they didn't even apologize. I was pretty shocked. I was really nice about it, even though it was their mistake, and they acted like I had done something wrong. They did not offer to fix it for free, but did make a lot of excuses about how it wasn't their fault. Plus, when I went to pick the pants up on the day they said they would be ready, they hadn't finished them yet. Again, no apology! I get that sometimes things get behind schedule, but to just say "They're not ready. You'll have to come back later," and turn away, without even a smile, or apology. I guess I'm a little harsh on dry cleaners. I have not had any experience with their alterations, but I have been there twice, and I feel that they failed my compressive/consumerism tests. They were friendly and all, and the price was alright, bur I dropped off 6 shirts, got quoted $12 and came back three days later to be charged $20 because they wanted to hand press two of the shirts. ...now, when I dropped them off, I was pretty explicate, and perfectly clear, "launder and machine press please..." They hand pressed two of the six shirts, which was odd, because of the two that they hand-pressed, there was a third that was identical of the same size and designer. "...IS THERE NO REASON TO YOUR MADNESS!?!" If you want to hand-press my shirts, cool, call me and ask. Don't make it a surprise when I pick up my clothes, that you almost doubled my original quote. Abe's on Broadway won't hand press my shirts unless I ask him to. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! I brought two pairs of swim suit bottoms in on Monday 8/9, I asked the guy at the front desk if they can do alterations on swim suits, he says yes and proceeds to mark my request of the material, and enter my information in to the system as I was a new customer. I definitely won't be a returning customer. I explained to him on Monday that I was going on vacation, he said how about pick up Thursday? Perfect, I'm leaving Thursday. I left feeling confident... It's Thursday, I went to pick up my two items, and apparently they don't have the machine to sew stretchy swim suit material. OK. Awesome. I don't care if it was a swim suit or a wedding dress, they should have called me as soon as they determined this!!! The lady at the front desk said they just found out this morning, it was 1pm when I went in, they still could have called me! I will never go to this place again, nor will I ever recommend it to anyone else. It really comes down to common sense, if you tell me you can fix it...then fix it! Great prices. Their alterations are dead-on every time. Great service. The last time I went in, I dropped off about 20 shirts (I was leaving for several weeks and needed them the next day, which is a pretty tall order for most cleaners). I went here to have my favorite pair of slacks repaired based on past reviews. When I went to pick them up, I noticed that the repair was very poorly done. The stitching was crooked in places, the tailor got off track in one place and just backtracked instead of taking out the bad stitch. Lastly, the color of thread used matched neither the original thread, or the fabric; not even close. When asked why the thread didn't match, the tailor simply said "I didn't have the matching thread". Granted, the slacks are older and worn, but they are still my favorite, and they deserved better. After she removed the bad stitching, I took them to DZ Alterations downtown, and they did a professional job, for half the price. read more

I had an old army jacket with a broken zipper. First I tried Thumbtack for tailor estimates. No responses. Finally I took the jacket to my nearby cleaners. They were extremely professional saying they would try to fix the zipper but if not fixable they estimated $90 to replace the zipper. It took them an extra few days but they fixed the zipper for $13! I have taken my laundry to many dry cleaners in my lifetime, but TS Cleaners might be the best I have ever used. Not only is the service spot-on (my garments are always ready when promised), but the results are superb. I use a self-tanning moisturizer so I won't look like a vampire in Portland and the folks at T S Cleaners always deliver my shirts back to me in uber-clean, pristine condition. Same with my suits. In addition, my wife has told me that the tailoring she's had done there is also "top shelf". They are extremely detail-oriented. I wonder what it's like to be so good at what you do? First-time customer here. Took some business-casual slacks to TS for hemming. VERY small space for changing (actually, it's their sewing machine desk with a ratty curtain pulled around it.) While wearing the pants and pointing at them, I said "how much will it cost to hem these?" I was told it would be $9. I came back 5 days later to pick them up, and I was charged $13. When I asked why it wasn't $9 like I had been quoted, the woman said "jeans and casual pants are $9. These are nice pants. Nice pants are $13." Can someone please explain how exactly the "niceness" level of my pants increased 44% over the 5 days they were at TS Cleaners??? read more

I experienced some really unpleasant jerking-around on price at TS Cleaners. For the same shirt they had laundered for me at the standard shirt price (under 2 dollars) they charged me about 6 dollars the second time, claiming that they "had to" do it by hand. When I asked for an explanation as to why it was two bucks the first time but six bucks the second time, I just got dirty looks from the staff/owners. They don't do a bad job -- just socked it to me on price, and din't even remotely offer to make it good, no price correction, not even an apology. I signed up for Yelp just to write this review. This is is regards to their alterations not their cleaning, I have no experience with their cleaning. I have very short arms, but need to buy a larger size for my wide shoulders. I asked them to take a very specific amount to be taken off and they tried to convince me that I needed more arm room. I insisted that I was correct, but the cashier insisted I was wrong. I got the dress shirts back today and tried them on and they are still about an inch longer than I asked for. Terrible service. I just came back from this cleaners with a ruined blouse and nothing to show for it but the woman at the front desk telling me I must have moths in my closet (wrong) or that my blouse was very old because the fabric was old (wrong again- it's less than a year old). It's bad enough having a ruined blouse but the attitude that it was somehow my fault that the shirt now has big gaping holes in it (it would take moths years to create those holes) is something else.
