No wide body passenger flights so it isn't inundated with massive crowds the way some airports are. The biggest drawback is the short runway which limits the size and length of flights available into and out of SNA. For international flights other than Mexico or Canada that means connection flights. The runway length also makes for a unique departure procedure where the planes take off and reduce the power and throttle at 800 feet of altitude. This can be disconcerting for passengers who are unfamiliar with the take off.

The layout is simple and plays host to Southwest, American, and a few others. It's easy... Terminal A, B, or C, and they are all aligned. They have some decent spots to grab food and bars if you're having to wait. Plenty of space with chairs having power-supply. Close to Anaheim, it can get busy for the Theme parks during the summer, but still no comparison to the congestion of most major airports. Using Ride Share isn't so bad, but you do have to make your way to Terminal C's Garage on the 3rd level. Everything is easy here so that's why the 5 Stars. Even security for me was quick (TSA) but also for non-TSA folks, I could tell they were moving quickly.

There's a play area for children. Dog relief area is also available. The women's restroom was clean. Very spacious for luggage to go in the stall if traveling alone. There's also a hook for your bag. I like that there's automated paper hand towels. Lots of food/drink options like Starbucks, Sambazon, Brodaed Express, Qdoba Mexican Eats, Jamba Juice, Taps Brewery, Market 949 (for souvenirs and snacks), and etc. There's a food court with seating near Terminals 14-22. Our flight was for Alaska (Terminal B) but they were in Terminal C since they were using Frontier's gate. Luckily you don't need to go through TSA again and can walk down the long hall to get to a different terminal. Highly recommend flying about of John Wayne Airport when you can!

I stopped for less than a minute while waiting for my elderly mother, who was already walking toward the exit. Despite explaining the situation, the security officer immediately told me to leave and loop around without allowing even a brief moment for her to reach the curb. What made the situation even more frustrating was that there were no other vehicles waiting at the curb and no apparent traffic congestion. There was absolutely no flexibility or consideration shown for an elderly passenger who was actively making her way to the pickup area. I was treated as though I were causing a serious problem when I was simply trying to assist my elderly mother. The treatment felt unfair, unnecessarily harsh, and completely lacking in empathy or common courtesy. Airports should prioritize both safety and reasonable accommodations for travelers and their families. Unfortunately, my experience at this airport reflected neither.

My wife and I were looking for a cheaper way to fly to Cancun and we're so glad we found out about…read moreCBX. Not only was it a way to drastically cut our expenses (domestic flights from within Mexico are obviously way cheaper than international flights from LA), but it was such a calm, streamlined, easy operation. We got to the parking lot early for our 7am flight out of Tijuana, walked to the check in terminal & that's where we encountered our one and only 'hiccup.' Because we had 3 children with us, the Viva desk check-in said we needed to speak to a representative but we were told the only one on duty at that time was in the restroom. Luckily the stand alone kiosk on the other side of the area worked out fine. All of this was more of a Viva issue than a CBX one. We breezed through the bridge over the boarder & customs took no time at all. It was one of the quickest customs experiences I've ever had. We got dumped out right at the bag check area & were on for our trip. Coming home was just as easy. We got our bags and followed the well marked signs to CBX to walk over the boarder & do customs. Customs took a tad bit longer than going to Mexico, but that's more of a US thing than CBX. We still got through in was less time than expected, even when arriving on a Friday afternoon before a holiday weekend when I would normally expect huge crowds of people trying to get in to the country. In all, we saved hundreds of dollars even after paying for CBX & parking on location. We will always be using them from here on out for any family trips to Mexico.

Hubby and I were headed to Puerto Escondido, which is very expensive and very time-consuming to fly to from the airport in San Diego. However, flight prices and times were much more reasonable from Tijuana. Thanks to CBX, we didn't need to find anyone to cross the border and drive us directly to the airport, especially as our flight departed at 5:40 AM. It was nice to have an easy drop off on this side of the border. Anyway, we were dropped off on the US side, and had pre-purchased CBX tickets online for $50 per person, round trip. I felt that the price was very fair for the staffing and amenities along the way. We had already reserved a rideshare to drive us to CBX, but I saw the secure parking lots and realized that parking there is also a valid, safe option. It appeared that some of the secured parking cost about $30 per day, making it a good option depending how may days you would like to park your car. Anyway, when we entered, there were people guiding us, as it wasn't too crowded at that early hour. You scan your CBX ticket, your boarding pass, and your passport. Then you are able to walk through the barriers. There are escalators and elevators to get to the bridge, and signs stating that there is assistance available for people with disabilities. The bridge was clean and air-conditioned. We walked through customs just prior to entering the Tijuana airport. When I had learned about CBX, I was reluctant. A friend of mine told me that she had walked much further in various airports. It is true. The walk is short and easy Upon coming back to the states, we learned that there were several taco and other food trucks on the US side of CBX, as well as Starbucks and a well-known mall pretzel company. All in all, I am grateful to have a way to access the TJ airoprt in a very easy and affordable way. I plan to continue to use CBX for more affordable flights south of the border.

I utilized this airport because I had a México cruise trip scheduled with Carnival Cruise Lines. Upon arrival, this airport felt unique compared to most airports. Instead of the traditional method of exiting the plane by walking on a jet bridge, passengers had to walk down portable stairs onto the tarmac (paved surface on the airport runway). Then, there was a designated walkway to get inside the airport to pick up luggage from the baggage claim area/carousel. I absolutely adored the gorgeous, open-air conceptual design of the airport. I was met with the fresh Southern California breeze, a plethora of palm trees, and beautiful sunshine from the sky. I also appreciated that this airport was considerably less crowded with individuals. The ease of navigation within the smaller building made a difference in getting in and out. All in all, the entire environment was picturesque, calm, and relaxing. There were a couple of eateries and a convenience store available for the general public. Since I was in the South Concourse, these options included Boathouse on the Bay, Sheldrake Coffee Roasting & Sweet Jill's Bakery, and Travel@Ease Gifts and News. I finally came back to the Long Beach Airport on Tuesday, 05/19/26, around 10:30 AM to travel home. The line with Southwest Airlines was a tad long to drop off luggage. However, the TSA line was very swift at getting people through. I will be flying to and from this airport moving forward anytime I need to travel to the Southern California region.

I was told I needed to pick up one of the big bosses at the Long Beach Airport (LGB). I got where to meet and what time. Basically you can't just hang out at the curb like the old days, you wait off site and then get a call when to pick your passenger up. Wow, this airport is bigger than I thought. I did park and go inside just to check it out and I guess it's a little more polite to meet a big boss at the gate then to just drive up to the curb like some taxi cab. I think this is about the size of the Oakland Airport (OAK), there different gat areas for the airlines and there's different food options as well. Everything from burgers to seafood even. Prices are airport prices that's for sure. I met up easy, since I knew what he looked like, I didn't have to hold up one of those stupid signs with a name on it! He was grateful for me meeting him and said he's gonna take me out to lunch. Sounds good to me. This is a pretty decent airport, everything is super busy down here in SoCal.
