Racyne is super sweet and personable; it was a pleasure working with her. I showed her the pictures of the hairdo that I wanted and she delivered. Both of the hair and makeup stayed on for the whole day. The makeup didn't melt despite the hot weather in Oahu. The hair also stayed in place even though it was somewhat windy during the photo shoot. Highly recommended!!

It had been a while since I had been and couldn't recall how long and the hair dresser just proceeded to tell me that it had been longer than I was saying and proving me wrong. I couldn't decide how I wanted to style it and asked for suggestions and she just said she doesn't give suggestions. This lasted the entire hair cut. I showed a picture and showed her to do it like that and she said, 'I'm just going to stick to what you said before.' Then I just finally said, 'do whatever you'd like.' I tipped her well because she did a great job, but it was a very uncomfortable experience. Quality work, not quality customer service. Will not be back.

I hadn't gotten my hair done since November of 2019, so I was due for a cut at the very least. After perusing Yelp reviews of different hair salons in the area, I came across Dorene Furtado's work. She had pictures up of the exact hair color and style that I wanted, so I knew I had to contact her right away. Booking with Dorene was easy and seamless through text, and she was able to fit me in on New Years Eve! The salon itself is in the Kaka'ako district. I've only ever been there a couple of times, so driving past all the mural decorated warehouses was so nice during the day. You can definitely see how unique and vibrant of a neighborhood it is. Parking was super easy; Nueve Salon has their own parking lot, and location wise is very easy to find. The salon is clean, bright, and well-kept, and I felt lucky to have been the only person in that day. Dorene took her time to explain what she was going to do, and ensured that she was able to execute exactly what I wanted without damaging my hair. After a couple of hours in the chair, some highlights, and a cut later, I felt lighter and like I had finally had some self care time (a rarity with kids). Brows are my thing -- the beauty maintenance I take the most seriously outside of maybe my hair-- and I had an incredible brow specialist in LA that I trusted deeply. I kept hearing little bits of BIG praise through friends-of-friends about Brows by Ash, and eventually booked an appointment. Fast forward a few years later, and Ash has become my go-to for monthly brows and lip waxes. She is beyond professional and, in my opinion, the best brow specialist on Oʻahu -- hard stop. What I appreciate most is that she truly listens. She cares about the look you're trying to achieve, supports your brow goals, and will always give her honest professional opinion when needed, which I value so much. I literally don't let anyone else touch my brows except for her since she's the best I've experienced on the island. She offers eyebrow shaping/ waxing, brow tinting, brow lamination and lash lifts and tint. Ashley is extremely thorough, super friendly and easy to talk to and plays great music! Everything is pain-free and you know she knows what she's doing. Her prices are great for how much work she puts into tweezing and waxing every little hair. The space is conveniently located on the second floor of the PanAm building so there's plenty of parking and it is really easy to find (follow signs for PanAm building annex) and is really cute and super clean! Ashley is really meticulous and wipes and sanitizes everything before each client. Keep in mind she is usually booked for weeks so book in advance on her website. She posts frequently on Instagram whenever she has a rare opening so make sure you follow her too! It's honestly such a relaxing experience I look forward to it every time!
