Hello Yelp community! I was not inclined to write a review but decided if I had read a review based on someone's experience recently I would have chosen a different acupuncturist. Please note this is my own experience and the intention is simply to share MY experience for you searching & for feedback for the lovely women running this business. I started going to Tsoy after my first miscarriage in February 2022. The mother (it is ran by a mother and daughter, which is so great) doing the intake form said, "if you would have come to me you would not have miscarried." She verbatim instructed me, I need to come regularly to get pregnant. Which I got pregnant prior to going to acupuncture with her. I sadly believed I had done something wrong to have a miscarriage. I came to her consistently to heal from the miscarriage. Fast forward I find out I am pregnant August 2022. I go every week to get acupuncture, I may have skipped a week but I came a lot. And in between working, getting weekly blood work due to the prior miscarriage, getting acupuncture, I was always nervous I wasn't doing something else "right". I find out I had experienced or was about to my second miscarriage in 2022. I had an acupuncture appointment the following day, and decided to call as this felt like a 911 and maybe if I did more (acupuncture) my baby and I would make it. I come out after the acupuncture and I let the mother and daughter know I'm really emotional with news I just heard. The mother then says we'll if you don't believe in it or if your husband doesn't then I can't fight him or you on this. I let her know what she told me in February still haunted me, telling me if I would have come to her then I wouldn't have miscarried. I communicated to her that doesn't land well with me as medical advice that is sound and can be proven in my specific or others cases. She then retracted her statement of what she said in February, about how she could in a nutshell saved my pregnancy. I let her know I came this 2nd pregnancy consistently and potentially (i did end up miscarrying) would miscarry so her "instructions and care" cannot guarantee anything for fact and she is not God, although she spoke that way. Her daughter then says, it sounds like you need a good mental health therapist. Which I can only assume as I don't know her intention, but it came off condescending and that my level of emotions and tears was out of place. When I had just come from my ObGYN stating they could no longer hear a heartbeat! I asked for a package still wanting to give them the benefit of the doubt, and the mother says oh you have issues with money, and then states something about $20 off. I was in shock she would say that as I pay out of pocket $400 ish both months for her services. The daughter then says it's because I need herbs, she sells me herbs. In November 2022 I had surgery as my uterus shaped was affecting the baby's growth. I encourage you to listen to the way they speak and are they in service to your needs or pushing more appointments or more herbs on you? I have an acupuncturist now, she's so kind and gentle. After my surgery she kept saying be kind to your body, your body is healing right now. Through this process I learned i have the choice to say, this is NOT working for me. Pushing appointments and stating someone can save you or your baby is not sound medical advice for me. read more

I wasn't planning on writing a review but I saw someone had a similar experience to me and I wanted to share my perspective as well because there are so many 5 star reviews I was questioning myself. Like was I being too sensitive? Granted this is just my experience but in the off chance someone else has been disrespected by this business they can know it's just not them that had the negative experience among the glowing 5 star reviews and there is nothing wrong with them or their body. I began coming here after having a miscarriage in summer 2022. After a couple sessions Irina told me my uterus was too weak to bring a baby to term and that I needed to keep coming to her. I wanted to get pregnant so I kept coming. Another time she told me that I was not soft or gentle enough so I couldn't get pregnant and that my husband is man so he will always disappoint me. And I feel like I chose my husband because he doesn't disappoint me. Over time she just had more and more generalizations about men and women and I understand the eastern medicine theories and masculine and feminine energy but I don't believe in traditional gendered language and told her it made me uncomfortable. Also I'm a lawyer and she always assumed I was stressed but in reality I work 9-5 and never on the weekends so about as good as anyone can hope for but she told me I was stressed and other women like me had to quit their jobs to get pregnant. I told her I had gotten pregnant to which she responded but you couldn't stay pregnant could you? And then after all that she tried to ask me for free legal advice! She also said I might not be able to get pregnant because I'm overweight but I'm a size 4 or 6. I haven't been able to get pregnant again and I was worried I shouldn't write this review because maybe there was something to what she was saying. But now I'm working with another acupuncturist for a month or so who is supportive and believes in me. read more

I never understood why people received acupuncture. Lying still with needles all over me sounded like torture until I visited Tsoy acupuncture. It's a clean modern facility for an ancient practice that healed me of a mysterious illness. They were my last hope and so pleased to report I'm feeling much better. read more

Found Irina on yelp on a sunday (yesterday!!) and she fit me in right that same day. I wanted to induce labor to avoid medical induction. It was a slightly uncomfortable and aggressive session but thats what I wanted - I wanted it to work! She said I would probably give labor that night. I went to see Irina Tsoy based strictly on her YELP reviews. I have had TERRIFIC RESULTS. In only 6 visits she has cured two of three problems. I feel great for the first time in months! My primary reason for seeking help is a condition I have with KIDNEY STONES. I had laser surgery to break up and pass these stones a few months ago. The surgery was only partially successful and left me in bad shape. Irina Tsoy gave me acupuncture treatments specifically targeting the kidney stones. She also provided me with an herb mixture which is specifically for the loosening and dissolving of kidney stones. This combination worked amazingly well! I passed many kidney stones within a few weeks of beginning Irina's treatments. Irina also made dietary suggestions which will help me to stop forming new stones. (The herbs also help with this) I am feeling better than I have for a long time. If you have a KIDNEY STONE problem, I suggest you give Irina a try. Irina also helped me with a very painful case of TRIGGER FINGER (stenosing tenosynovitis ) in my left thumb. Trigger finger is a condition in which one of your fingers gets stuck in a bent position. My case was painful and undermined my grip. I had previously been treated by a (Western) M.D. with the use of steroids injections. The steroid injections helped for only a few weeks and then it came back. I have read that steroid injections can cause more harm than good over time. Irina's acupuncture cured the problem after four sessions. This is now completely gone and I have full function of my thumb with no pain. Irina treated me simultaneously for my Trigger Finger and for my kidney stones. Irina also helped me with a SHOULDER INJURY. I injured my shoulder while performing a household task. It was so sore I couldn't work. Twenty years years ago I had a bicycle accident in which I fractured my right shoulder. Because of this, even small injuries to that area can last for days, or even weeks. Irina was able to reduce the pain by 80% the first session, and 100% percent by the second session. Again, this treatment was administered simultaneously with treatments for my other problems. What a deal! :) Irina is a professional, charming and gentle healer. She has experience with Western medicine as a neurologist as well as being a Licensed Acupuncturist. As you grow to know Irina, you can see that her work is her passion. She is great about communicating seven days a week by Phone, E-mail or text. She will do all she can to accommodate your schedule. Her hours are flexible. Personally, I don't think it gets much better than this. read more

I use to work for Irina. This is honest truth based review. She and her daughter are amazing. They have amazing souls. They work so hard from AM-PM. Sometimes they barely rest at all to help everyone. They have great hearts. They will always help you if they can. Irina and Tatyana helped me so much. They helped me grow emotionally and acupuncture helped me heal in all ways. My knee was bothering me before and Irina and Tatyana did sessions on my knee 1x a week and it was amazing. They made me feel comfortable all the time. They always encouraged me to do better. They truly are great people and especially healers. I recommend them no matter what. You want someone you can trust and will can answer your questions. Diet is VERY important. Please listen to it. We don't realize all the crap we put into our body can cause inflammation but it does. I love that Irina has such great skill and knowledge about acupuncture, and that she was also previously a neurologist. I really admire that background, and feel it's a benefit to me as a patient that she is highly experienced in both Eastern and Western traditions. I've been a patient for years. I have a bunch of stories of how she helped me, but what impressed me today and made me want to write a review is this... Sometimes I'm late for my period. This is the second time this year when I've come to her for that - once was on day 36 and once on day 33. Both times I woke up the very next morning with my period! PMS symptoms gone. I was referred to Irena shortly after my daughter unexpectedly passed away at birth in 2021. She helped me tremendously with my grief and postpartum healing. She would take the time to talk to me at every appointment to see how I was doing physically and emotionally. She would also check in on me occasionally after appointments via phone or text which was totally unexpected. She deeply cares about her patients. When I was ready, she helped me prepare for getting pregnant again and with her care we were thankfully pregnant quickly. Throughout my pregnancy she kept me healthy and balanced physically and emotionally. She truly takes a wholistic approach. She held me accountable in taking care of myself thru diet and activity. She always gave me her honest opinion and advice. Later in my pregnancy I also started seeing Tatyana. She is also wonderful and has a peaceful, calming energy. They are true healers! I don't write many reviews but Irina is such a special doctor that I felt the need to write one for her. Irina is a doctor in the fullest and most complete sense of the word. Before coming to America, she practiced as a neurologist (with an MD) in western medicine and also practiced eastern medicine simultaneously in Russia. It's so rare to see a doctor who has practiced both eastern and western medicine but what's more incredible is that it's evident in her approach to treatments that she understands the benefits and value of both types of medicine. On top of her expertise in medicine, she's also one of the most caring individuals you'll meet. I was trying to figure out the right words to describe her because I've never met a doctor like her--so I was reading through her other reviews and I'm so glad other people recognize her for this as well, because she is such a special person in this sense. I also noticed that someone else described Irina as a true healer--I think this person is right. When you see her and get treatments from her, you'll be able to feel that she deeply cares about your well-being...not just to help you with your immediate problems like most other doctors would. I'm so grateful to have a doctor like her and could not recommend her more highly!! read more

The reason I visited initially was that her office was close to where I lived and she was recommended by a doctor I saw for a foot an ankle issue. The offices are clean and relaxing, her staff professional, she's pleasant and knowledgable, and best of all, within the same appointment pain in my foot and ankle had been dramatically reduced. I have now seen her a few times, and I believe with her help I am on a path to a healthier and happier, life. read more

I'm sorry I have to give this place low rating, but I just want to share my unsuccessful experience with Yelpers! I have to admit: this treatment did not help me. I just wasted my time and money, and this place is pretty costly (around 100$ for a visit, + each time I paid additionally for the herbs). Irina is a sweet heart, I'm giving a star just for that. But all the rest was not satisfying at all! The teas (they are not individually made, just overpriced general herbal mixes), the parking (which is really hard to find) and the treatment itself. The last time Irina's assistant was the one who took off the needles, it was painful and, you know, I don't want to experience anyone else doing such a gentle thing, except the person that I came to. I DID NOT FEEL ANY DIFFERENCE after several treatments, but then I changed the doctor and now GOD! it's so much better!!! I advice everyone, don't waste your time if you don't see the results, just change the doctor! read more

Irina saved my wedding! I was traveling a lot between NY and LA, and under a considerable amount of stress due to all the wedding planning. About a month and a half before my wedding, I developed a very extreme case of Bell's Palsy. At first I went to the doctor, who prescribed me some steroids to reduce swelling, and gave me some blanket assurance that I would be fine in a week. I wasn't. My Bell's only grew worse. After about a week of watching my face go from bad to worse, I started researching other treatment options. I decided on Irina because she seemed like only acupuncturist who specialized in Bell's Palsy and had consistently good reviews. I had always thought that acupuncture was a bit of a pseudo-science, but I was desperate. Irina is a total sweetheart. Not only is she knowledgeable, but she is very kind and calming. I saw her three times a week for 3 weeks. The acupuncture itself did not hurt as much as I thought it would, it just feels like a small rubber band being snapped against your skin. Although when I first began, I fidgeted and moved around a lot while the needles were in me, which lead to some bruising. So don't fidget! Between the acupuncture, the strict diet she gave me which I followed to the letter, and a combination of herbs that she prescribed, I was miraculously better in time for the wedding. Even Irina said at the beginning of my treatment that my case was severe. For about a week, I couldn't close my left eye properly, and had to constantly use eye drops and covered my eye while I slept so I wouldn't have permanent cornea damage. I have to say that I am a total believer in acupuncture now, especially for the treatment of neuro-muscular issues. Because of Irina, I was able to smile at my own wedding. Sadly, I can write a substantive update to my previous review. I have been going to Dr. Tsoy since late 2009. I wrote my last review in 2010. 2 months ago I was rear ended by an SUV while I was in a smaller sedan. The person who rear ended me was going over 60 and I was going under 20. They made no attempt to brake. Also, their bumper did not line up with mine, so they wen't straight through my trunk. As a result, my neck, back and shoulders have been severely damaged. The muscles in these areas have been hurting very badly and I have had some other related pain and complications. At first, I went to my normal western doctor. Admittedly, he is not an ortho or a specialist in this sense. He gave me a prescription for some pills that turned me in to a zombie and made it impossible for me to do my job but otherwise he told me I was fine (without doing an xray or any other diagnostic but looking at me with my shirt off). At the same time, I went to Dr. Tsoy who administered acupuncture and herbs immediately. Over the course of a couple months, my symptoms have improved greatly. I can go in to Dr. Tsoy with a completely stiff neck and leave without pain in my neck. For example, yesterday I could not even turn my neck far enough to make a safe lane change on the way to her office but when I left, I had dramatically less pain and could drive normally again. It is now 24 hours from my last appointment and my neck pain has stayed as low as when I left her office. As mentioned in my review above, Dr. Tsoy has helped me with allergies, moodiness, lowering a lifelong caffeine bender and any other thing as far reaching as the common cold but in this case, I am legitimately injured quite seriously, and acupuncture + herbs has been the only key towards getting better when my primary care physician and other western doctors I have gone to see only prescribe harsh drugs or are simple too oppressed by the insurance system to actually administer real care. I very highly recommend Dr. Tsoy. I have been going to her at minimum once a month since 2009 and I have recommended numerous friends and family to her that are all regular patients of hers now as a result. read more

I went to see her over a year ago so that she could help me get pregnant as I was told by my former OB/GYN that I couldn't get pregnant. The second time I went to see her, she told me that I was pregnant. I couldn't believe her, but she knew it before I did! I went to see Irina for some tingling and burning in my hands and feet along with some other strange sensations. I knew that she had a background in Neurology and thought she would be the perfect person to help me heal holistically but with the sense and knowledge of what a western doctor would prescribe for such a condition. She begins by asking a lot of questions about lifestyle, diet, excersice, etc. She doesn't begin until she gets a good idea of what is causing your pain or illness so she can focus on that specific region of your body. The treatment is not just acupuncture with Irina, it is a life style change including proper diet, exercise and herbal supplements (provided by her). The treatment is not necessarily a "cure-all" that happens immediately but more of a gradual healing process from the inside. Irina is an excellent coach for this healing and really does care about her patients well being. In fact, she would just call to check on me throughout the treatment and was always there to answer her cell phone in case I had any questions or concerns. I have no doubt that Irina properly diagnosed my toxicity and illness better than the four doctors I saw for my issue. Not one of them could pin point what was wrong with me but Irina knew all along it was a build up of toxins from caffeine, stress and sugar. The blood needed to be cleansed. The acupuncture really helped with the stress and anxiety, the diet plan she recommended help break my caffeine addiction and the herbs helped the organs to heal. I will not hesitate to see Irina again for any issues I am having before going to a western doctor. She is the best. read more

Nothing but good things to say. Everyone is super friendly! I came in desperate to find remedy to the way I was feeling since drs and such would always tell me nothing was wrong when I didn't feel my best. After my first session Tatyana pin pointed things that I didn't even think could be the problem and after my first session, I felt amazing. I was so relaxed and I hadn't felt that way in months. Along with the session I was given a blend of herbs and diet instructions and I'm happy to say after about 2 sessions and a week or so of following the diet, I started to feel more like myself. Dr. Tsoy has helped me heal my GALLBLADDER, SINUS INFECTIONS, and is helping me balance my HORMONAL ACNE. She is knowledgable, compassionate, and her work is effective. Gallbladder: I had severe attacks and was supposed to have emergency surgery - the ONLY option allopathic medicine prescribes. I found Dr. Tsoy and got acupuncture instead of showing up for surgery and never had a gallbladder attack again. She had me take herbs, adjust my diet, and treated me 3 times a week for 3 weeks, then 2, then 1, then occasionally. My gallstones were gradually disolved by her herbs and when I received an abdominal ultra-sound 6 months later, my gallbladder and liver were completely clean and healthy. Sinus infections: I had never had these before. With Dr. Tsoy's treatments & herbs I healed without antibiotics. Hormones: I like these treatments the best as I feel so peaceful during, and invigorated after them. She has me on herbs that boost my libido and for the first time in 28 years, my acne has cleared up! I've spent $60k on treating my acne before, even acupuncture and herbs with a different practitioner, and Dr. Tsoy's treatments are the first time that the acne has ever been helped. Irina is an amazing woman. First of all, you should know that before coming to the U.S. from Russia, she was an M.D. (Neurologist), so she is trained in both Eastern and Western medicines. I've been going to her for years for various reasons, but mostly for my chronic bronchitis and respiratory issues. Her treatments, herbs and advice always help. I had to go to NYC for work for 4 years and tried 5 different recommended acupuncturists there and while I finally found one that I liked, he didn't come near the care that I receive from Irina. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Tsoy. I came to her with a combination of issues: chronic irritable bowel (bloating, discomfort, constipation), chronic facial acne and in need of stress-reduction/immune-system building. In just a couple of months I have been able to completely turn my gut/digestion around and I no longer suffer from daily/weekly constipation or discomfort. Although that may seem like a while, I was suffering chronically from years with these problems. As far as the acne and immune-building, I have made strong progress in both areas and Dr. Tsoy continues to work with me on improving more. I need to also relate that, aside from getting "needled", Dr. Tsoy's biggest recommendation to me was for dietary changes, which I made. They were not easy, however. I am definitely a "foodie" and even though I was eating a healthy, well-rounded diet it was not healthy enough to address the problems I was suffering with. It took about a month for me to adjust to the changes but I can say without a shadow of a doubt that it was/is being able to stick with those changes that turned things around for me. Quitting coffee was probably the hardest (and best!) thing that I could have done for myself. I've never had more energy in the morning, which is an outcome I would not have expected - thanks Dr. Tsoy! Lastly, I can also say that I have been treated by 5 different Ac's throughout my life and Dr. Tsoy is above and beyond at the top of that list. I highly recommend Tsoy Accupenture. This is my second week going in for treatment and I am extremely happy and impressed with the results in just one week. I went to Irina in pretty low spirits and with painful foot nerve damage called Morton's Neuroma. I was so afraid I would never be able to dance again. Irina really listened and I felt her compassion right away. After 2 months, herbs, and treatments, I can now take all my ballet classes 5 times a week! I never even had to get a cortisone shot, which is how Morton's neuroma is usually treated. Trust me, I was close, the pain was so bad. It took patience on my part, and I changed my diet at the advice of Irina. Through it all, I felt Irina really genuinely cared and was so wise and kind. She even came in on a Sunday for me. I have gone to several acupuncturists through the years usually for physical injuries since I'm a professional dancer. Since moving to Los Angeles a year ago I have been trying to do hormonal balance therapy and decided to give Irina's healing a try since reading these yelp reviews...and I'm glad those reviews were up because she's amazing! In one phrase Irina is a gem. A healer by all means. She's not only a doctor of eastern medicine but interestingly is that she had also practiced in the western medicine as a doctor of neurologist. Her background in acupuncture comes from her grandfather as a young child so she had made a decision to return to eastern medicine after her experience in western medicine. Her doctorate in both makes her an even more unique healer. I asked her to give me this brief history one day out of curiousity in one of our sessions. she's very humble so it's something she wouldn't just share out of the blue. Just know that her credentials are very high in my eyes. Irina also takes the time to really listen to your needs and her calming presence is a healing session in itself. I feel that with her lead I'm on the right track finally after a long search for health and balance. She also encourages her patients to study qigong along with their treatments so our healing is even more complete. Sometimes i'll have random questions about my diet (since our therapy usually includes herbal treatments along with changing our diet which is great) and she's always on the other side of that cell phone at any time of her busy day to answer all that she can with genuine care. I've never had that thorough care by any doctor that's for sure. I've been recommending her to all my friends and her prices are extremely affordable for the service she gives to us. so i say if you're looking for a healer, her little space tucked in silverlake is an oasis. i can't say it enough. read more

Tatyana is an amazing practitioner. When I first started working with her I had a variety of symptoms that Western medicine could not adequately address. Tatyana was able to skillfully assess all of my symptoms and determine the proper course of treatment. I am pleased to say that I feel 95% better from when I first started seeing her. She instilled a sense of hope within me and I am so very grateful for her support, guidance, and care. I highly recommend her. She changed my life. read more

I went to Irina two years ago and the experience was great. It's too steep for my pocketbook these days, but I hope one day to get back on her acupuncture table. Irina's very kind. My only piece of advice to those getting acupuncture for the first time is to not resist and allow the healing to take place. Irina has been heaven sent to my family. She makes you feel comfortable, at peace aside from her amazing healing hands. She has helped me with my lower back and sinus issues. Most recently with Anxiety and depression. Although I kick and scream when she advises me on my diet, but she knows best and is right. She even helped a family member with effects from COVID. I realize Irina doesn't actually need more good reviews, but I must share the fact that she is an amazing acupuncturist! She is so honest, caring, and genuine. She offers a very supportive approach, yet at the same time reminds you that you are not powerless to your pain. Extremely encouraging. She gets to the bottom of your issue (via her excellent communication/listening skills), and makes an effort to remind you that health is really a lifestyle and not just a body-bound experience. I had very bad lower back pain, but I made the extra drive to Irina because I found such a grace, trustworthiness, and expertise in her practice. read more

Irina is truly amazing. I love that she begins your treatment with discussing nutrition. She is so kind and always available. She really cares and makes you feel that way by remembering details of your life, helping with any and every issue that comes up, being available to you, and also not pretending that she knows everything like a lot of doctors do. If she doesn't know the answer she will admit it straight away and then go and research it. The next appointment she will have better answers. I love her voice and the way she gentle pushes you to have more self discipline and take good care of yourself. You have to see her to understand. A great mentor and a genuine person. read more

My 6 year old daughter suffered a fall on her back over a year ago. 25+ sessions of physical therapy and Dr. visits were unable to help her. Then I took her to Dr. Irina. Admittedly, a 6 year old is going to be freaked out by needles, so we called them "hairs" and Dr. Irina gently worked to make my child feel comfortable and calm. After a few sessions not only was she feeling better, but she was no longer scared. The muscle spasms and stiffness melt away after Irina's treatments. I started seeing Irina about 4 years ago. I was having terrible pain in my arms and had gone to traditional western doctors who wanted to put me on all sorts of pain medication. I was suffering from knee and ankle issues. I couldn't walk down the stairs and couldn't exercise and worst of all, I was starting to think my days as a make up artist were over. I came to Irina, after unsuccessfully treating a severe case of Excema with steroids that developed on my palms and my feet. I believe this happened after some exposure to some harsh chemicals, paint stripper, over a period of time. The steroid, Tomorol, that was prescribed also had caused additional blistering. Irina told me that I had to detox to give my body a break, and that at 46, I should probably stop being so hard on my body. She prescribed some herbs that she said was made for skin, and told me to lay of the alcohol and coffee and to come back in a few days. After a few days, I saw notable difference and after my next appointment she told me to come back in a week. I have been seeing Irina for 2 1/2 weeks, and not only is my problem almost gone, in general my skin looks and feel much better. As well, from not drinking alcohol and coffee, I feel pretty amazing. Irina is nice. But the treatment itself didn't really help and I didn't feel much improved. ( I went in for like 4-5 times) I turned out to switch to another Chinese medicine doctor/ acupuncturist in Monterey Park. read more
