Finally made it here after craving hibachi for about two weeks! I was really drawn in by the Happy Hour deal they advertise, offering discounted food and drinks from 4 pm to 7 pm. Figured it was the perfect opportunity to give them a try. Upon being seated, I was greeted by a friendly server who promptly took my order. I ordered a drink and a hibachi meal, and I have to say, the food arrived incredibly fast - it was almost startling! Lol, all jokes aside , the service was impressively efficient. I will definitely be coming back for more. Overall, I'd rate the experience a solid 4 stars. The hibachi itself was fantastic - flavorful, perfectly cooked, and a generous portion. However, I wasn't a fan of the fried vanilla dessert. It just didn't quite hit the mark for me. But other than that one small detail, everything else was absolutely amazing! We live 35 minutes from this store but had a really rough day and wanted to order it from DoorDash. We did a group order and our order came with a single order and we had to drive all the way there to get our food. The doordasher asked if there was more and they said no so they are at fault. When we drove there a very rude worker blamed us and told us to not do that anymore because it's wrong. Very rude service for sub par food. read more

My husband and I tried this place out after hearing that it was good and tbh it was just okay. We ordered the cream cheese wontons (6/10, because one was cold in the middle and you kind of needed the dipping sauce they give you to even out the intensity of the cream cheese), two sushi rolls (6/10, good but not great or really memorable), and a plate of shrimp fried rice (5/10, shrimp was really good but the rice lacked flavor) which also came with a miso soup (9/10). I'm giving it a three because although the food was okay, the environment inside was a little different. I don't think I have ever experienced a stickier floor in my life, so sticky that it just ruined the quality of the food before it even got to the table. I wear my shoes loose and I almost lost one getting out of the booth. And with that, maybe it was where we sat (closer to the entrance), but there was a smell of dirty dish water/rags that i could not get over, but I have been told my nose is more sensitive than most so do with that what you will. Overall it wasn't a bad experience by any means as the food was decent, but not somewhere I would go again. Our waitress was also friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. My Goddaughter chose this spot for her birthday dinner. She loves it here and I can see why. We were seated immediately and the service was very good.. I've had Hibachi from a few other restaurants in the Columbia area and this is definitely one of the best. They don't have the live show experience you get at some other places, but they make up for that with more food options. This is a Japanese restaurant with very good seafood and sushi options, along with Steak. I don't come to this part of town often, but I will make a trip just to eat here again. read more

Food gets 2 stars. Service gets 4 stars. All in all, I feel like 3 stars is a fair rating of this restaurant. My son and I ordered an appetizer, a couple miso soups and 3 sushi rolls and only one of them was good. The ginger served on the side with each roll was clearly expired. The seafood dynamite was pretty good. I've had better, but it was okay. The miso soups weren't that hot, but we're also pretty good. We ordered two rolls to begin with after our soup and appetizer & were only delivered one roll that wasn't even the correct order. Our server apologized for not putting in our other roll order and he was actually very nice. A tuna maki roll had been delivered to our table even though we ordered a spicy tuna maki roll and as you can see from the photo, it was rolled and prepared very sloppily, so it fell apart before it even touched our mouths. I didn't bother to mention how it was the wrong order to the server because we were hungry and ready to eat, so we just ate it anyway. We were both disappointed with it though. Then the dynamite roll came out. It was warmer than the miso soup & was a little bit better than the previous tuna roll we had. It could've used some spicy mayo and eel sauce drizzled on top, in my opinion, but nonetheless, it was ok. Then, our last roll came out, the Pink dragon roll, and it tasted good. So, we left this place on a better note than we came, thanks to that last roll. Food is important when it comes to the whole experience in a restaurant and this place just feels too short. The sushi chefs need to do better & need to keep up with their ginger expirations & the menu could use a better selection of sushi. I was skeptical after the reviews, but decided to give it a chance. Great experience, visited on a Thursday afternoon aprox. 2pm, they close at 2:30p until dinner time. We were practically the only ones in the restaurant, fast service, nice spot to have a luncheon, meet up, lots of space. They have a bar area also, that opens in the afternoon. The whole restaurant was clean including the restroom, no bad smells. They didn't rush us, I ordered a yummy watermelon martini, sushi etc, see pics... All my food was freshly made, only issue I had was the rice was kinda overcooked, but that was it. Do yourself a favor and at least try it! I will go back for dinner jus so I have a good comparison. Be patient at dinner time, it goes a long way in your experience. The location is in Harbison area close to the mall, so expect lots of folks when eating here on the weekend. they have have another location downtown, which will probably be busier, lots of colleges. read more

My wife and I hang out in this area all the time and have tried most of the surrounding restaurants. We decided to try Tsunami and were definitely not impressed. The sushi was very underwhelming. The waitress was good, but it took a long while before our food was brought to us. The atmosphere was ok, but this is definitely not my first pick for a sushi restaurant. My wife and I went with a couple of friends who got hibachi. Although I didn't try it, the chicken did not look very appetizing. I'm all for second chances, but I really don't think I'll be giving this restaurant another chance when there are much better restaurants in the area. read more

We came looking for a COVID safe experience and for some healthy, good food. Found it! Came in and was seated immediately. Sat outside with the wife. We ordered some a couple waters, some sushi rolls, salads with ginger dressing, and a couple Hibachi plates. The salad came out super quick and the ginger dressing was great! The sushi rolls came next and I'm sorry I didn't take a picture because they are well done and were very delicious. They are generous with their portions. 5 stars for the server. I wish I remember his name. When he noticed I couldn't decide which sushi roll to select, he asked what I liked and made suggestions. I went with his and it was absolutely amazing. Between my handsome date and my delicious sushi, I couldn't have been happier. This is the first restaurant I've been to in Columbia that I'll insist on returning on my next visit. It's a great date spot. We frequent the Vista location. Always spot on. This is the second time we have visited the harbison location. Each time equally disappointed. The hibachi chicken tasted old, like left over and reheated. The hibachi shrimp was over cooked and tough. The veggies were not hot. The sushi was at room temperature, sloppy in appearance and fell apart. The tempura shrimp that was on one of the rolls was cold and tasted like it had been fried the day before and refrigerated. Menu is a bit confusing since there are different appetizers on both sides of the menu? Also a little disappointing that we couldn't order anything off the kids menu, although I understand. I've been to Tsunami three times so I feel like I can definitely say it's just okay. The first time I came here for lunch and was impressed by the cheap lunch options and had a great meal here. The last two times I came to Tsunami was for dinner and dinner has been a lot less lackluster than the lunch. It's a lot pricier for dinner, which is a given, but I really don't feel the food quality matches the price point for dinner. The service here has always been great and the restaurant itself has a good ambiance. But still, at this point I would only come back for lunch. read more

If I could give this restaurant a one star...I went here last Sunday and it is very very misleading to its customers. My sister and I normally go to the Tsunamis downtown Columbia but we were closer to this one. I asked the waitress Rachelle if the sushi had the happy hour special and she said yes, and pointed to the specific ones. We ordered three sets (per the special which is 3 sets of sushi) and we wondered why they were so big. We get the bill and see we were charged not the happy hour special rate so we called the waitress. She explained that those sushi were not 3 for $10 but instead 30% off. We explained to her and the manager that the waitress should have clarified what happy hour special they were and get this, that the 3 for $10 is ONLY OFFERED FOR CLIENTS THAT ASK FOR THEM. Isn't that shady??? How are new customers supposed to know about your specials??? Very very shady. All the manager kept saying was "I understand ". Nothing else but that and didn't offer us any compensation for their mistake on their part. Please go to the Tsunami downtown and not this one. read more

Sushi is one of my favorite foods, so I eat it a lot, and have tried quite a few places. This seemed to be the best place Columbia has to offer. We ordered a variety of rolls. It was good, but I wouldn't say great. It is probably more 3.5 than 3, but of course that isn't an option. It was awesome that we were there during happy hour because house liquors are half off. Our waiter was attentive, so no complaints there. I think if this is my best option, I'll just pass next time I'm there. read more

Beware!!! This is not my first time visiting this location...however it was my last time. Their food is good guys it really is however it's not that good. Their service was below mediocre and they added gratuity to my bill?? It was myself, my husband and our 3 kids sitting at the table. When I asked the manager what was going on, she claimed they always add gratuity to a party of 5 or more. I was in a state of shock because I had been to this restaurant several times (as recent as last month) with the same "party" I was with at that moment and had never had that added gratuity. I've had gratuity added before, when it was a party of 8 or more but never have I ever had it added to 2 adults and 3 children. Truthfully, it would have not have been a problem if the service was better. The sushi was not made to the normal standards that had me repeating my visit and the manager had not an ounce of customer service in her body. She did not listen when I informed her my cup had not once been refilled nor anyone's at the table the entire time. Also the wait time for our food was not apologized for either. This location never seems to be overly busy so we have never had an issue being seated immediately! We normally go on Sunday nights if we're in the area because their whole front of their menu including select sushi rolls are 30% off from 4-7. Their crab wontons are our favorite in town! Service is always good and establishment is always clean! read more
