The tea and boba is amazing! The owner is a amazing and you can tell is so passionate about his business and most importantly is avid on educating the consumers. With all their options with flavors,textures, and toppings for even a regular boba drinker can be overwhelming but he went out of his way to offer samples of a few and gave us information on where it comes from and how it's made. Had the jasmine milk tea (hot) with chewy boba. It was pretty tasty and just the right boba properties. They even willingly give you boba with your hot drink (unlike some other bubble tea places I've been to before). A minor complaint is that the lady behind the counter is very Asian, as in very straightforward and trying to get things done quickly, which means treating customers like customers is not really a thing here. I went to try there again and the following times I've gone, the owner is working. There was definitely a noticeable difference in how the boba tasted afterwards. The boba is nice and chewy and flavorful - you can really taste the tapioca! The slushes are yummy, and blended to the right consistency. The service is great, I've been there once every week to the point that the owner recognizes me and you can see an attitude shift, he's much more approachable and relaxed whenever I go and order. I love their Royal Milk and Taro boba teas. I HATE how they are never open when I need them to be. Still, they are the only (and best) boba tea place around and I'll take it with a giant straw please. The atmosphere is okay. The decor is kinda funny and the chairs are kind of uncomfortable but who cares, you are there for boba and boba you shall have! I am always happy though when the owners recognize me and know that if I'm getting two drinks that I'll need their DIY cooler, aka a double plastic bag with ice in it so that my boyfriend's drink can stay cold. Good boba. Kinda pricey. Lots of flavors. The best ones are the milk teas though - the juice ones are kinda just okay in my opinion. Thai Tea, Taro, and Royal Milk are some of the best/most popular choices. Personally, I'm kind of disappointed that there's no plain matcha/green tea flavor (they do have a green tea one that has some other flavor mixed with it) but the vast choices they have make up for it. read more

The boba tea is decent, nothing special. It's the only boba place on campus excluding Kokonut Grill (only has traditional flavor). I would definitely recommend the royal milk slush with boba. My friends also like the taro slush with boba. The guy that works there is also very friendly. read more

Best bubble tea in the area in my opinion, with a consistently friendly owner. The environment is playfully casual, with lounge seating and board games for hanging out. Their milk teas (my favorite kind) are smooth and creamy. Taro and green tea are really good and my go to flavors, although I've had many others depending on my mood! Their tapioca balls are a good chewy texture which is a plus. Although this place is great, and as previously mentioned probably the best in the area, one negative is that the quality, variety, and ingredient options are much more limited than equivalent places in other regions (say, southern California). As bubble tea continues to increase in popularity, I think that a wise move would be for TT's to really step up their game to anticipate the likely competition. TT Lounge is Richmond's first bubble/boba tea joint and having grown up in Northern VA where there's the Eden Center a.k.a. the motherland of Bubble Tea, I have to say that TT Lounge certainly gets it right. I was never a fan of bubble tea growing up but I tried it again at the TT Lounge and it's gotten me semi hooked. The place itself is on the smaller side. Quite sparse with the decor and seating is minimal with just a few tables and couches made for lounging. However, it doesn't really matter because most people only come in to grab their bubble tea then head out. They have a great variety of cold and hot drinks, including Tazo Teas, coffees, and various imaginative flavors of bubble tea, which can be made as slushies with or without the tapioca balls. Their tapioca balls a.k.a. the bubbles are also on the better side of the bubble tea spectrum. They have just the right amount of chewiness to them. Everytime I've gone, I've ordered the Honeydew Melon Slushie with Boba. However, friends of mine have tried just about every flavor and they love 'em all. Also available are a couple different instant noodles. Literally, the ones that most people buy and make at home. They have the kimchee flavored korean bowl noodles, Shin Ramen, and Yakisoba. And even though these are available for a dollar or two, I wonder if anyone really goes there for that when they can make it at home for free. read more

I was one of the very first TT Lounge clients. Back when I was an undergrad at VCU, I lived on the street behind the restaurant. My roommates and I decided to see what they were about on the day they opened back in 2004 and we've been hooked ever since! First of all, the service in this place is quick, friendly, and effecient. The owner is very personable and makes it an effort to know if not your name, but your face. Now on to the products. They are amazing. I've had almost all of their flvaors but my favorites are the taro milk tea, thai iced tea, strawberry banana milk tea and the honeydew milk tea (yeah, i'm a milk tea girl) But anyway, having had bubble tea in Northern Va and the Philippines, I have to say that nothing has come close to TT Lounge for me yet. This is one of my favorite local spots to visit while I'm on my lunch break, at work or when I'm in the area browsing. The customer service is excellent. I enjoy chit chatting with the owner and his wife all the time. They have a small lounge for the VCU students or anybody who wants to talk and socialize for a bit. Went here for the first time today with a few of my girls. We ordered taro, cappuccino, and plain milk boba's. They were pretty good, nothing to complain about but nothing to write home about either. I liked that they leave out a stack of cards, chess, sudoku and a few other games out for play. It kept us busy and was really fun! Good experience. If you're a VCU student, this place is super convenient and really close to campus. If you live in Pine Court then this place is pretty much your neighbor. Parking is regular street parking, no lot. The reason this place gets 3 stars and not four is because of the service. The lady behind the counter was a straight up bitch. My friend wanted a green tea boba and the lady pretty much shouted at her saying that there's no boba option for green tea unless she wanted it as a slushy. My friend asked very politely if they could accommodate something for her because she absolutely loves this place and was REALLY eager to try the green tea flavor. while going to school in VCU, TT Lounge was one of the hang out spots I frequented. Boba always consistently chewy and a bit sweet, and their flavors are more inventive than some other bubble tea places around. Taro, Thai tea, and green tea mocha are my favorites, but you can't go wrong with any of the drinks. A bit dated inside--who knows how long those couches have been there. I had my usual: taro milk tea. Needless to say the flavor was good but in terms of individual taste apart from other boba stores it was average. One thing that surprised was the boba pearls itself. It was cooked really well to have a great chew but not too much. I dislike how most boba stores overcook them causing it to be way too chewy. TT lounge did a good job of finding a good balance. Another thing that surprised me was the lychee slush. I don't ever buy anything but milk teas from boba stores buy the lychee slush caught my taste bud's to want more. read more

When I was a student at VCU several years ago, I used to go to TT Lounge A LOT. I came here so often that the owner knew who I was and even knew what I was going to order. My go-to flavors were Taro and Thai Tea with boba. Typical haha I always enjoyed the slush version more than the milk tea versions as I preferred the balls to be floating around rather than going down to the bottom of my cup. The hot versions weren't bad either. I've always recommended this place to anyone who was in the area because I truly thought it was the best! So why am I only giving this place 2 stars? I can never figure out when they're open! My now husband and I decided to get some after I ran the Monument 10k one year, and it was closed. We tried going again when we visited Richmond for my birthday. When we got there, it was closed again! Not sure why, but FYI, it was a Friday afternoon. After that, my husband was so over it. I came up to Richmond last Sunday to visit a friend, and we really wanted bubble tea, so we decided to go to TT Lounge. The hours outside said it would open at 12pm. It wasn't 12pm yet (it was around 1130am) so we decided to walk around the campus to kill some time. We walked back to TT Lounge, and it was a little after 12pm. When we got to the door, there was a sign on the door (that was definitely not there earlier) that said (with a sharpie by the way) they weren't going to open until 130pm. Great flavors. Some are more tea like and some are more catered for picky children who just want strawberry milk. The taro is super good in flavor but can also taste/feel powdery. The strawberry is very watery. The almond is not tea at all, it's plain unsweetened almond milk with boba (which I enjoy). There seems to be a little bit of texture or nut particles in the milk still which was unpleasant. The staff are nice and easy to talk to about your order. I love their Mocha Green tea Slush! It's so yummy. The owner, Sam, is really great but his female counterpart is really curt. I once ordered a slush and she asked if I wanted ice with it. I didn't know you could make a slush without ice because isn't ice the primary ingredient? I've been in with other female friends and she is just as rude to them. Regardless, Sam is a total sweetheart and he treats his customers well. He takes his teas seriously. Whenever I'm getting more than one drink to go he packs them in a bag with ice for me. I have been coming to the TT Lounge occasionally since my VCU days.TT Lounge has a variety of flavored teas. My favorite is the Thai Iced tea. The Thai Iced tea is very flavorful and tasty. You have the option of adding boba to your drink. The teas come in a no spill cup which is cool.TT Lounge also sells some snacks and noodles. During the semester, TT Lounge is usually filled with VCU students. You may experience a little wait during prime school hours. There are two employees working in the lounge.TT Lounge has a nice social atmospshere(usually students).Theres street parking in front of the lounge. The parking is hit or miss during the week. My absolute favorite has to be the taro slush. When I briefly moved to Hawaii for work, I assumed that I would have a taro slush there that would make anything in Richmond seem disgusting. I was very wrong. For four long months, I walked the streets of Hawaii, going into every bubble tea shop I saw only to be utterly disappointed. This was one of the many things that made me long for home. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves bubble tea. First off if your in the store fear not the cashier for she is a very sweet lady. As far as quality I'd call it top notch boba that is a class somewhat of its own thought not very flashy. I mostly stuck with tea drinks but when switching over to fruity flavors, they weren't as good and extremely sweet. The problem is that they use powder instead of real fruit. Love this ! A sweet shop in a cool neighborhood serving really good boba . The staff are really nice , they are patient and gave out samples of their popular flavors of Boba . Royal milk and Taro are so good! The boba is nice and plump too. Me and my husband loved the Sweet potato taro and we felt comfortable sitting in the lounge sofa to enjoy our drinks. This place has so many drink options and many of them are very good. I think it's a little overpriced, but certainly doesn't stop me from coming. The taro is not as good as KFT but I live nearby so this place suffices. I also like the atmosphere and couches, really makes for a relaxed and enjoyable hang out with friends. Furthermore, I like how it's clearly family owned. The husband I assume, always let's me know how to stick the straw in every time I order, I find this amusing because it's probably because I'm white. I defiantly know how to though lol. It's also kind of fun that they add additional snacks for you to buy.
