This is an amazing theater in a breath taking Red Rock canyon. It's beautiful and naturally isolated. The stage, sounds, lights and effects are top notch. They host Broadway quality productions here. We are from LA and regularly see touring companies there and have seen musicals in New York, Chicago and other major cities and this is absolutely on par with them. We saw the Little Mermaid, which was incredible. Singing and dancing were wonderful. Everything was great. They flooded the stage with running water. They had fireworks. They had a huge ship and a castle. The one note is this is an outdoor theater and it was 95 degrees at 10:00pm. We weren't prepared for that level of heat. Lots of people had mini fans and misters which we wish we had. If you aren't a local prepare for the climate! read more

My first visit was amazing! I saw two shows over two nights during Tuacahn's 30th anniversary season and even received a beautiful commemorative 30-year pin. Free parking. There truly isn't a bad seat in the house. One of the highlights was how they filled the stage with water for The Little Mermaid. It was such a unique and fun experience to witness. I also loved seeing live animals featured in both productions; it really added something special. The venue has a charming gift shop, a café, and several concession stands. Season ticket holders get a discount on drinks, which is a nice perk. They didn't do much of a bag check during my visit. Seat cushions are available to rent for $3, and there are a few bathrooms conveniently located nearby. All in all, a fantastic experience. I can't wait to go back! read more

What can I say? A performance with this amazing backdrop with the sun setting and a cool breeze? Yes please! Plenty of parking, a beautiful water feature, food, shops and more. The seating was comfortable with lots of legroom. We came to watch The Little Mermaid, and my favorite part was when the waterfall FLOODED the stage! Even after living in NYC and seeing multiple Broadway shows in multiple theaters, Tuacahn remains one of the most stunning theater venues I've ever seen. Set against the beautiful red rock of Southern Utah, the lights and sounds that catch and reflect off of the rocks create a unique and awe-inspiring backdrop that adds substance to already talented casts and production crews putting on the show. As of October 2024, Tuacahn still allows you to bring outside food and drink into the theater (they also sell concessions), making it an extremely family friendly venue. The staff I saw were all helpful and friendly, thanking me for supporting the theater. I would 100% recommend seeing a performance here and hope to return sooner rather than later! read more

The Tuachan Amphitheater is always a fun show! It's great to be able to see some of our favorite characters come to life on stage! The actors do a fantastic job and the way the animals and background are involved in each production is fun. They offer snacks and have a gift shop. Parking isn't bad but leaving requires patience. This is the most beautiful setting to watch a play or concert with the red cliffs and rocks in the background. We were there to see the arrival, a tribute band to the 70's GROUP ABBA. Music and sound were fantastic and we had our 2 yr old granddaughter with us and so for a little extra they had a babysitter room to have her watched. It worked out great and it turned out to be an awesome night out!! read more

Over the years, I have enjoyed the plays. Crowds are larger now, which I don't enjoy. I received a gift card for Christmas, which i didn't use because it expired. I thought gift cards in Utah couldn't expire? In fairness, I called and the management and they agreed to honor the card as long as I purchased tickets by the end of that day. We attended Beautiful a few weeks ago and the quality of the production was top notch. We visited the cafe with staff that were friendly and welcoming even quick making out food to ensure we could get into our show on time. We ended up being a few mins late and it was the most unique theater experience I've had. The show started right on time, which is great and may have to do with their model to ensure ample parking and less traffic jams. When we arrived however we were let inside but not really guided to our seats which caused confusion for us. I do love that they allow some snacks and bottled beverages inside especially on this really hot day. read more

It doesn't get more Utah than Tuacahn. Beautiful red rocks surrounding an outdoor amphitheater that houses musicals and other live performances. I grew up in southern Utah and was there when Tuacahn first opened. It's been fun to watch as it's grown from infancy to adulthood, although some of the characteristics of the place have stayed the same. The shows range from cheesy musicals (anyone remember Utah! This is the Place?) to live comedians. There really is something for everyone, depending on the lineup. It can get rather warm in the summer months, so they move their showtimes to later in the evening after the sun goes down. If you get a chance to be there when the sun sets, prepare for a spectacular show-in addition to whatever ticket you are holding. The red rock backdrop is downright awe-inspiring. Parking is plentiful-if the show is sold out, do plan on a bit of a walk. And if you've never been before, remember that this is out a ways, not just tucked away in town. So plan on driving. And continue driving. You'll eventually get there. read more

Very busy, crowds taking up entire walk ways. This makes it quite miserable for other people trying to walk by. Suggestion, be polite move your big groups further over out of the entire walk way. All that being said, friendly atmosphere, people of all ages enjoying the atmosphere and activities. Lovely Christmas music playing to get you in the spirit and the smell of cinnamon in the air. From November till Christmas they have concessions, train ride, lights, plays, and family outdoor fun. There are churros, nuts, jerky, hot cocoa, gift shop, Cafe and a concessions stand open. My family and I have season tickets and have enjoyed coming to Tuacahn throughout the years. You honestly cannot ask for a better view. The scenery is incredible. The cast is brought in from all over the country, and sometimes they have guest actors, who are there for a limited time. David Archuleta was Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and that was a show I really enjoyed. I also really like Mary Poppins and The Count of Monte Cristo. The set design is always so well done and the lineup is usually pretty great. There's always the one really popular play each year that everyone in Utah seems to get excited about. We have enjoyed seeing plays we already know and plays we might not otherwise see over the years. I look forward spending time at Tuacahn each year. read more

Never received the tickets so I called the morning of the show and they said they sent out an email on Monday, that we never received, $400 in hotel rooms that we are out because they failed to send us an email. The jersey boys play was very disappointing. You could sit out the first 45 min and not miss it. The Frankie valli songs were good but only a few completely sung. The ring of fire play was fun but if your looking for Johnny cash song you'll get about 10 the rest were country western songs that were cute and the performers did a great job & very talented but you will not get many Cash songs. read more

If you are ever in St George, Utah don't miss a chance to see a show at Tuacahn. The experience is over the top. With Red Cliffs in the background the stage setup is amazing. They don't spare any expense with presenting the best show possible. We've seen The Little Mermaid, Annie, Beauty and the Beast, and a few others. All were spectacular. The only thing that bothers me is the seats are not super comfortable. You can rent a cushion or bring your own. Some of the seats they sell come with a cushion and a bottle of water. The summer shows start in the evening and during mid and late summer be prepared for 90+ temps in the evening. read more

I am a frequent watcher of the arts. From high school theater shows to broadway. All I have to say is WOW! I recently saw beauty and the beast. Not only was the costuming and stage absolutely stunning but the performers didn't miss a beat. It was such a professional level of singing and dancing. Some of the best voices I have heard. This is comparing to even the original Broadway cast of wicked. If you get a chance to visit this theater do it. It's so worth the money. My only tip is if it's summer bring a cooking towel, misting fan, and lots of ice water. It is in the middle of a desert after all. My family and I were so looking forward to coming to see Newsies on October 8th and The Little Mermaid on October 6th, but unfortunately, we didn't realize when we won the auction item that the tickets were only good through September 2nd. We already booked our flights and hotel for October. Unfortunately box office management will not accommodate and will not work with us to get to see these shows. Sadly, this is a missed opportunity as we love to support theaters throughout the country. While I realize we made the error, I was hoping there would be something we could do to rectify this issue. This was not the right way to handle this situation. While I realize October is a busy season, we are still 4 months in advance. We had hoped to support a family friend performing in the show The little Mermaid. A beautiful venue! There is not a bad seat in the house. Seats are comfortable and the red rocks make for a beautiful stage backdrop! We came to listen to legendary Frankie Valli - he was fabulous. The band terrific and the backup singers full of energy. The theater offers a great gift shop, plenty of food and drink vendors. The restrooms are plentiful and clean. Staff was extremely friendly. I love coming to Tuacahn! I try to come at least once a year to see a Summer show. Every time I go, I am again blown away at how gorgeous the setting is! The theater is set in a canyon outside with beautiful red cliffs surrounding it--there's nothing else like it! One of my favorite things here is the way they incorporate the scenery in the shows, along with awesome stage effects. They're often shining lights or projections on the canyon to create a certain effect, they have real animals they include, and some of the shows will have fire and flooding the stage! The water effects are definite my favorite.. I've seen them flood the stage a few times and it's always a highlight for me! You can't see that just anywhere...and in a show like The Little Mermaid or the Prince of Egypt, water totally enhances it. I've generally been impressed with each cast I've seen here. They hire very talented singers, actors, and dancers. Some shows are better than others but the ones I haven't loved have been because of the show itself, not because of the crew and cast. During the summer it can get really hot in St. George, but I appreciate that they start the shows after sunset so the sun isn't on you. They also have mist near the top which I appreciate. I would always recommend sitting toward the middle if you can, but it's more expensive. And really you can see just fine near the top or on the sides too. All in all, I love this place and the unique experiences you can have here...it's unlike any other theater I've been to and they do their best to put on a good show. read more

This is my absolute favorite theater in Utah (maybe in the whole USA). They put on beautiful productions in their outdoor amphitheater. They also have childcare. I paid $25 each night I saw a musical for daycare, and it was WELL worth the price. This past year I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Tarzan, and the Hunchback of Notre Dame. The performances were STELLAR, with Tarzan's lead being someone who performed in the show when it was on Broadway. The food is great too! They have so much to choose from, including a cafe where I got a DELICIOUS turkey and avocado sandwich. Only downside is that the shows can get rained out so definitely purchase ticket insurance. We cannot wait to return next year when they have Anastasia and Frozen! read more

Whoever thought to put an amphitheatre way out in the middle of nowhere and deep inside a canyon is a genious. Tuacahn is one glorious entertainment venue with what is by far the best setting I have ever seen. The scenery is stunning when the sun is up. The red cliffs towering over you look almost fake. But as the sun sets and the cliffs fade to darkness, the show begins. The lighting stretches beyond what would be the confines of a normal venue. As the audience is dancing the night away so too do the lights dance off the trees and cliffs behind the stage. A stunning display of man made entertainment enhanced by nature. Wonderful. Asthetics aside, the sound system was great last night at the Weird Al concert. Some times outdoor shows have a distorted sound. And concerts are often overwhelmingly loud. This was a little loud for my comfort so I used some make shift ear plugs (tissue). But the sound was crystal clear. Not distorded in the least. Tuacahn is a remarkable venue in an amazing setting. It is one that I will remember the rest of my days. I do wish that it was more handicap accessible. There are a lot of stairs to get to the top and then more stairs to go down if you are seated low. I'm sure they have a more accessible route but I didn't see it. Not that I was looking. What I noticed was people struggling up the steps from their lower seats. People who could have used some assistance. Aside from that, this is a top notch facility. read more

Tuacahn theater is amazing!!! (We watched Disney's "When You Wish"). I've lived in Las Vegas my entire life and have gone to a few theaters and we also have one that's outside (not indoor). Hands down Tuacahn is the best one I've been too. The atmosphere was gorgeous with the red rock surrounding you in every direction! The drive up is wonderful as you pass the lovely neighborhoods with custom built homes. After parking (I will talk about this later) we walked up and the first thing you notice is the waterfall in between the two stair cases to walk up to the main courtyard/lobby area. Absolutely stunning! Tuacahn also has a cafe/gift shop.. I didn't think this cafe was going to be much of a hoot when we walked in to order our food before the show. Boy, was I wrong! I ordered the pastrami burger with sweet potato fries! on the meal! Freaking amazing! People around me ordered the same thing and they were heard talking about how amazing it was. Definitely must try when you go there! Ok, seating... the seating was perfect too! There isn't a bad view from anywhere you sit. The steepness of the zests makes it easy to see over the person in front of you as well. "When you wish" started and the theater was MASSIVE and the view of the entire mountain behind was out of this world!! Wow.. wow.. wow!!! The play was incredible and nothin of the Tuacahn theater was disappointing... except on the way out back to our parking spot. There was one way into the theater and ONE way OUT! You know how it's not bad getting in but the rush out to get home was insane! People here are at least respectful but man, was it a SLOW process getting back to our car. I really feel they need to make a second exit when exiting the theater. Exiting..... once you get to your parking spot, don't plan on going anywhere as this has the same problem as when walking out (only one way to exit with one lane going out). There was no cars coming to the theater so why not shut down the road going to Tuacahn and open it up to two lanes to a certain point? Not a major ordeal but hey, I had so many amazing things to say about Tuacahn, so there is my negative. The positives about this place outweighs the negative by a TON!! Get you booty down to this theater and check out their shows! I have no doubt we will be going here more often! Lovely, beautiful, amazing place!!! read more

If you get tickets, make sure to have backup plans. We've driven 4 hours two years in a row, and both times the shows were canceled. The tickets say "events are never canceled in advance," but they haven't followed that. The first time, they didn't even announce the cancellation--we were left confused, with everyone in the audience asking each other what was going on. The second time, they canceled in advance, directly contradicting what's on their tickets. They also didn't follow their policy of reconsidering after 30 minutes, saying "winds" were the reason for canceling. They also haven't sent out any emails communicating the cancelation. I'm sure the shows are great, but just know that you might never get to see one. Backup options if this happens: bowling or grabbing dinner, as there aren't many other options available at night. (Update: all bowling alleys have a 2 hour wait time.) read more

I've been here on several occasions! I've seen musicals, concerts, comedians & PBR! The space is absolutely beautiful!!! The staff checking tickets and making sure you get to the right area for seating area are always friendly! I do have a couple complaints... I really think they need bathroom attendants!!! Every time I have been, I have had to skip over a handful of the stalls because people are nasty! They need someone in there to clean just after a show starts and after any intermission! Getting out of the parking lot is a freaking joke! It would be nice if they had people directing the traffic like they do when you enter the lot. Because a lot of people are "special" and don't know how to "zipper" out of the lot!!! read more

First time to this outdoor amphitheater it was better than I expected. We saw Annie and the performance was top notch. I blame myself for getting tickets in the middle of July it was 100° at 9 PM when the performance started. But they sell these Water spray bottles that helped. Tuacahn is like the Red Rock theater of Utah- the set directly backs up to the towering cliffs and the location is adjacent to Tuacahn Fine Arts High School, which several of the performers and behind the scenes staff attend. This place has been on my radar for a while but I only recently made it out here to see Peter Pan with colleagues. + Purchase your tickets online, in advance. Our seats in the third row cost the same as those in the third row from the back. As for actual pricing, ours were about $75/pp. + Location is gorgeous, staff are fairly well organized about getting people in and out of the seating and parking lot quickly. + There are gift shops, photo ops, and various snack bar type stands available. You can also rent cushions for the hard plastic stadium style seating, highly recommend if you have back problems. + Love how they have all of their shows playing throughout a weekend, allowing those who travel in to see more than one. It's not like there's any competing nighttime entertainment in the area. Expect to see acting, singing, and dancing in all performances. read more

This is one of the most extraordinary theatres in the country. It's built facing a huge sandstone cliff. The theatre is an outdoor one, and it was built to take advantage of all the things that cannot be done in an indoor theatre. For example, last year I saw the Elton John/Tim Rice musical Aida here and they flooded the stage to simulate the Nile River and the Nubians danced and sang in the "river" dreaming of the day they could leave and go back to their own land. Seating is good wherever you are, but I prefer sitting in the front row. I have to look sideways a couple of times, but most of the action is right in front of me. Each summer, there are two or three musicals offered here. This year, Tarzan and Crazy For You. Next year, the Little Mermaid and Grease. Dress appropriately for the summer. It was warm there again tonight and shorts and short sleeve shirt were definitely called for, and I didn't need my jacket. Go early and watch the pre-theatre performances by students of the Tuacahn Academy for the Performing Arts which is adjacent to the theatre complex. Take a drive to St. George and enjoy! read more

Think of this outdoor venue as Red Rocks light. It's a small concert amphitheater that's out in the wilds of nature in St. George, Utah. The natural red rocks provide a stunning backdrop and the seating is comfortable. There's a huge and convenient surface parking lot (parking is free!) and it's easy to get in and out after the show. There are a few major negatives, however. I was at a Weird Al show here and the employees acted like they never had done bag searches before. The concert was delayed because they were so slow. The line to get in stretched back and around and took forever. Plus, security was virtually nonexistent. When I went out to use the restroom, they checked my ticket but it was super easy to come back in without having to go through additional checks. The restrooms are super inconvenient too, all the way up and outside the security tables and entrance. Same situation for the snack bar. The sound quality is very good and the sight lines are terrific, so I'm rating this an a-ok place to see a live concert. read more
