A great local authentic Italian restaurant that has been in the area for quite some time. The food is great and service is also good. They have a nice selection of wine, and their pasta buffet is always a nice option to go with if you do like to try a few things out. This is a gem in an area with little decent dining to choose from. The service was attentive despite being there on a Saturday for dinner. Warn bread and a great salad, I could stop there and skip the meal, but I won't. I love the Devil's Pasta with shrimp. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, tender, and not dry or tough at all. The dish is spicy, but not killer spicy. At least not for me. For a pre-dinner drink, I asked for a beefeater martini with anchovy or blue cheese stuffed olives. When I received it, it had one of each, oh my gosh perfection. And for after dinner, I had Tia Maria with a splash of cream. I could have died then a happy man. Overall pretty good. The food was all around solid. We started with the spinach rolls which tasted great. Presentation could have been nicer and it was pretty hard to cut through. But 10/10 for taste. I got the lobster ravioli after deciding against the veal parmigiana (girlfriend made me feel guilty) which was delicious. The sauce on top was like a thick lobster-bisque which was great. Service was good. Prices were reasonable. The only thing that held me back from 5 stars is that this place feels like it has a little bit of an identity issue. It isn't sure whether it wants to be a nice Italian place for date night, or a family pizza place. Nope...First time, last time! Overpriced and overrated. Spent $80 for 3 salads and two chicken pasta dishes. The bread was rock hard! I hope the birds in the yard enjoyed it. Came to Tucci's while traveling for business. Located within walking distance from the hotel, Tucci's is located right off of the main road. It has a nice atmosphere with hints of the Italian flair, although the music playing is far away from Italian. My server, can't remember his name but he kept calling me "Boss", took a long time to get to my table. Once he did, he apologized; however, this seemed to be his theme the entire evening. Good thing I was not extremely hungry so it was only a slight agitation. I was only slightly hungry so I ordered salad and Minestrone soup. The only thing good about this place is that it's close to area hotels and interstate 57 I've been at this place several times but I'm not sure why. Just very iffy service and average at best food. The owner and his son run the place and make certain that portions are not too generous I've seen a couple walk in a half hour before closing, wait 20 minutes to be served, their order taken, and told several minutes later that the place was closing. I live in Chicago and my parents live in Champaign, so we decided to meet halfway to celebrate my mom's birthday (and an early veteran's day for my father). We arrived at Tucci's at 3:30 on Saturday and were sat in a back room along with the other 2 tables that came in for late lunch/early dinner. We got our drinks promptly, but it took a bit for our young waitress to return to get our orders. We got our appetizer, bread, and salad shortly after. Then we waited. And waited. The other two tables finished their meals and left. Another table of four was seated and promptly waited on. I saw a large group fill a table and get theirs drinks. Our waitress was missing. I kept seeing a lady with short blond hair and glasses who I assume was the manager walking by the door and glancing at us, but never checking in. Finally, nearly an hour and a half after we arrived, my mom grabbed the waiter who was working on the other table. He spoke with the manager and within 3 minutes our food arrived. It was cold. The manager came over to check in finally, and offered to have the dishes remade. She then discretely offered us a gift card without saying aloud how much was on it. After she walked away, we saw she gave us $10, which did not even cover the price of the appetizer. All the food was returned to us within 5 minutes (so obviously not remade) and was microwaved. Everything was soggy and rubbery. My fish was inedible, and I left my entire plate untouched. My parents are elderly and were starving so they picked at theirs. Mistakes are made, but it's all about how you handle them. We were told by our young waitress that she forgot about us because there was a large party in another room. The manager obviously was aware we were not being served and didn't check in. And the $10 gift card was a joke. After desserts and tips (which i typically tip well over 20%), our bill would have easily exceeded $125, but we decided to leave after it was obvious our business was not needed. We left Tucci's shortly after 5 pm, well before the dinner rush. It was a disappointing way to celebrate my mom's birthday. I really wish we could have had a better experience because it would have been nice to have a great go-to restaurant to meet at on weekends. read more

The atmosphere also complimented the level of service - a quaint Italian themed multi-room restaurant allowed for quiet dining with a subtle hum from the bar and kitchen area. The Margherita pizza's presentation was promising. The tomatoes seemed fresh, and there was the perfect amount of olive oil. However, the dish lacked flavor overall and reminded me of a boxed dough I had eaten as a child at home. Instead of being a lighter pizza it tasted more of an excessively cheesy pita bread. If I'm ever back in Kankakee I wouldn't rule Tucci's out, but I would consider other options first. read more

Bread was hot and soft on the inside and crusty outside. I ordered the New York strip "Italian style ". It was very tender with a beautiful sear. Could have used a bit more salt. Had a side of pasta that could have used a bit more sauce as it was a bit dry but had good flavor. Ended the meal with chocolate cake and coffee. Cake was good, dense and chocolately. I wanted to take my girlfriend out to a nice place in the area and I thought of Tucci's. That was a huge mistake. There was not a long line and now I can see why. The host never really said a word to us just told us to follow. When we were seated the host set our stuff on the table and left. Not one word. Also, no waiter came to our table for 15 minutes so we exited the establishment. I can say I am mortally disappointed in this so called "Italian" restaurant.
