Reading all of the reviews here and maybe I just caught them on an off night, idk... First things first, it was hot in the restaurant, potentially the A/C was not working as well as it should have been or something, but it was not super comfortable. The service was good, I didn't get her name, a younger woman waited on me and she was very kind and did the best she could. The food came out super slow, I ordered empanadas to start, the waitress said they burned the first order (I appreciated that didn't just serve me overdone empanadas lol) once they finally arrived they were just unfortunately bland, and just kind of lacked authenticity. When she finally brought out my main dish, she even apologized for the wait and said "I had to go yell at them". For a main entree I ordered the French dip with onion rings, another reviewer mentioned they were the best they had had. The meat was kind of tough and dry (which is odd for a French Dip, and everything just lacked flavor. Even the au jus really had no kind of salt or much flavor to it. I really hoped after seeing how everyone else rated this place that I had found that little hole in the wall spot putting out killer food that we all long for, sadly this wasn't it. read more

THE BEST ONION RINGS! I am seriously addicted to these things. Talking with the owner he let me know they cut a whole onion, bread and fry to order. The onion is still crunchy and they are never greasy. This time I shared the Steak & Cheese sandwich as well. Wow! That is huge and delicious! No way I could eat a full one on my own. The meat was so tender with American cheese, onions, mushrooms and green peppers. My only adjustment would be lighter on the peppers and a little more mushrooms. The place is clean and friendly. I can't say enough good things about owner/chef Jose and his staff. Came here in February for my birthday and everything was great. Jose is from Massachusetts and a long history with some famous great MA restaurants. Came back Saturday 07-04-26 with 2 friends and he was closing because it was dead. He let us come in, made us fabulous steak tips and onion rings and served us drinks - and all his wonderful staff had gone home! We had a great time listening to Jose raving about his beautiful wife and family that gave all of us hope for future relationships! This place is a gem. Just before we left, more people came in. What a pleasant way to spend a Friday evening--dining at a small, quaint, family-owned restaurant. I was drawn in by the glowing reviews and decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad I did! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. The space is quite small, with five tables/booths and a bar area with chairs, but it's well maintained and charming. The owner, José, and his staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. I ordered a glass of Cabernet, and my wife had an iced tea. She chose the pot roast with mashed potatoes and a vegetable medley, while I had the steak tips with the same sides. Both meals were delicious and clearly homemade. The side salads were crisp and fresh, featuring a nice variety of vegetables. I should also mention that they have a full bar. For dessert, we shared a tiramisu and a cannoli--both were excellent. José, who is also the chef, is clearly passionate about his craft and takes great pride in the dishes he serves. He's a true entrepreneur, and it shows in every detail. One note: there seems to be a glitch with the app's reservation feature, so I recommend calling ahead the old-fashioned way if you want to reserve a table. This little unassuming spot is so much better than expected! It is small inside, so we found sitting at the bar to be the most comfortable spot. The service was quick, they checked on us continuously, and the owner even came out and chatted with us. We had the fish and chips and the heavy hitter meatball sub and everything was amazing. Empanadas were very tasty, especially with the Caribbean flavor. Crust was flaky, filling was perfect amount and not dry like so many are. Then let's add the homemade sauce...oh ya, so good! The chicken tenders were so moist. The breading is the same as the onion rings, very light and airy with the perfect amount of salt. Onion rings are the best I have ever eaten. Homemade, full rings, with just a little crunch, your choice of dipping sauce. Another couple stated they eat at The Public Grill 2 times a week trying different items each time. They said "the homemade food is delicious every time." Service is outstanding. 1 server at lunch time, 2 at dinner. 3 people in the back. Amazing part, the owner also helps with serving if needed. The dinner was Delicious, two of us had the steak tips, my friend had roasted chicken with chimichurri sauce on it, and hubby got fish and chips. Everything is freshly made in house, even dinner salad with vinaigrette was really tasty. The cocktails were good too. Then we got dessert, a pistachio cannoli, chocolate chip cannoli & cheesecake with. house-made berry sauce! All delicious and made in house. We really loved it. This place was MID at best. My burger was overcooked - like a hockey puck, his French dip was served with gravy (huh?). The onion rings were better than they looked. Ambiance was super weird with 80s music playing (but not originals - almost like bad karaoke covers of 80s hits). We tried The Public Grill tonight for the first time and we were impressed. The menu is just the right size with a variety of options. I had a steak and cheese sandwich with onion rings. The onion rings were the best we ever had they were delicious. My spouse had the chicken parmigiana and the marinara, like everything else, is made in house--so tasty. We also had some great empanadas and after the great food experience, we ordered desserts to go too. The owner is the chef and he came out to talk with us.
