When I travel, I try to find something that's local to the area rather than grabbing another meal I could get anywhere. I'd heard about Oklahoma's famous onion burgers for years, but somehow never managed to try one. With a conference taking place across the street, Tucker's gave me the perfect opportunity to finally check that box. I'll be honest--burgers usually aren't something I seek out unless there's something unique about them. This was different. The Oklahoma onion burger absolutely lived up to the hype. Simple, messy, flavorful, and a great example of a regional specialty done right. The staff was courteous, the service was quick, and my food was out before I knew it. In fact, it was so good I ended up tucking my tie into my shirt to keep it out of the way. If you look closely at my photo, you'll spot my tie bar sitting on the table after I surrendered to the inevitable. The napkin dispenser's warning--"You're going to need them"--turned out to be pretty accurate. No regrets at all. If I'm back in Norman, I'll happily stop in again. This was our first visit to this location - 12.10.24. We have been long time patrons of the 23rd Street location. The location is ideal, with lots of shopping places and the highway close by. We each had the Double Onion Burger with Cheese - garnished with mustard, pickles, and jalapeños. If you have never had an Oklahoma-style onion burger, this is the place to try one. Our burgers were hot, juicy, crisp, cheesy, and delicious. The flavors of the meat, cheese, and additions were perfectly balanced. And if you like jalapeños and heat, you won't be disappointed here. My husband had the single cheese burger with jalapeños which he savored slowly...wanting to "milk" it longer! I had the turkey with cheese and relished unabashedly! Friendly staff, great food, and very clean on the inside. The burger was delicious. I had the onion burger with cheese with mustard, mayo, pickles, and jalapeno. It was excellent. I've been to other places in OK with onion burgers, and this was right up there with the best. The fries were amazing. Perfectly done, salty, and how all fries should be. They reminded me of the Five Guys fries, but maybe a bit crispier which is how I like them. The staff were super friendly and worked hard to keep the restaurant clean. As soon as someone left, they were over at the table wiping it down and making sure everything was in order. This would have been a 5-star all day other than the strange odor. The entire place had a slight sewer smell when I was there, and it was worse in the bathroom. I'm not sure what that was, but it was a little off-putting. They are Hot, cheesy melted hot bun and a genuine delight to eat. They are at least a 5 napkin burger. You tell them what you want on it. However, be warned if you order the "Mothe Tucker Burger" youll hear a kitchen full of cooks scolding your order staff. I can't eat it all usually but it does make a great left over half a burger to eat later. The fries are the kind you wish every restaurant served. Thin usually hot and crispy. Wow these burgers are REALLY good - they know what they are doing and they have perfected the Onion burger. Word of advice: the beef patties are over 1/3 lb., so I advise the single onion burger unless you are SUPER HUNGRY and can eat a cow, I got mine with cheese - melty cheddar cheese so delicious with the sweet crispy onions. Oklahoma is nationally known for its onion burger. Tucker's is locally considered one of the better onion burgers out there as well. Seems like a winning combo right, but unfortunately Tucker's just falls flat. I would be embarrassed for out of staters to try this as their lasting memory of Okie cuisine. The onions here are loaded high, and typically cooked well, sans for a few burnt and heavily charred pieces here and there, but the flavor, or lack there of is what killed it for me. I don't know what they use to cook them in, but seasoning seems to not be included, nor does it for the actual patty. It was the best looking greasy burger I've seen in a long while, but man did it not taste anything like what it looked like. Also, even for an onion burger it was wayyyy too greasy. I've had "juicy Lucy" burgers less greasy than this thing. The redeeming factor here is the amount of food for the price. There's no millennial styled $30 1/4lb gourmet burgers here, these burgs are fat and heavy. It's just again, lacking in flavor. Which is again, wholly ironic given how delicious they look and how stacked with onions they are. If you are just hungry and low on money, it's a filling bite... but if you're actually wanting a good onion burger, I'd highly suggest somewhere else, like Nic's place for example. read more

Afterward, I inquired about any BBQ or other sauce,... was told they didn't have it yet, but that ranch and hot sauce (in packets) were available. I asked for both. As the front counter member was about to give me each, the manager in back reminded him to charge me $0.50. I gently suggested if they could give me the small ranch cup since I just paid a 20% tip. But what you get at Tucker's is a burger smothered in onions. To say you can hold it and eat it is a joke. Pick up a fork and knife because it is the only way to really eat one. The flavor is good. The food was not good at all. We got turkey burgers, and there was hardly any turkey on there at all the french fries were extremely greasy.

I have to say this was a great burger especially since it was in a lettuce wrap. The service was great and pretty fast. Meat was great. Place was clean and busy so everyone must agree. Only problem I had was bad lettuce on the wrap bit out was so good i only took off one star. Is had a wall you can write on. First, this is not an "onion burger". I took off one star just for that mischaracterization. These are just sauteed onions, a mere add-on. Not the grilled in crispy-edged diner-style 80 year old recipe where then onions co-mingle with the beef. What the burger here is a fresh, classically-styled burger with solid flavor, akin to In-N-Out or Culver's. Patties here are heavily seasoned and well charred. While I enjoyed it, my partner in crime disagreed saying it tasted burnt. Another in our group claimed it too salty (and greasy). With sauteed onions and added cheese, expect it greasy. Also, the bun didn't hold together with all the grease. Shoe string fries on the side are fresh-cut, served hot and crispy. Though it would be nice if more than just ketchup were available to dip. Strawberry limeade is too sugary sweet due to the cheap strawberry syrup they are using. Dining room is open, simple and minimal, a bit small. Service is adequate. Prices are a bit higher than I'm used to, but average for these upstart burger joints. It only made me miss In-N-Out more, where one can get all of this flavor for half this price. read more

I love me a good old-fashioned burger place and had high hopes for Tucker's. A friend and I went around 12:20ish for lunch. We waited almost an hour. Yes, they were packed when we arrived and there was no seating but we managed to grab an outdoor table in the shade. During the time we waited for our meal, we were able to actually move back inside and snag a table because the crowds had dissipated. Other diners were not as patient as we were and started raising heck, finally getting their food and then sending it back. Finally got our meal and the burgers were pretty tasty. Glad I got a small (single) burger because it was still huge. The fries were OK. I had a strawberry limeade that was pretty good but was a little sweet for my taste.
