Came here the other day with 2 other buddies. We ordered the wings appetizer and the stuff jalepenos, 20 oz porterhouse and 16 oz ribeye special. Firstly: this place is CHEAP! a 20 oz porterhouse or 16 oz ribeye for 20 dollars each? Thats a bargain for a steakhouse (it comes with a salad, baked potato or fries, and dinner rolls) Appetizers: Eh, nothing to special, good tasting wings and fried, cheese filled jalepenos. Can't go wrong. Steaks: Got to try both of em, the steak's themselves had very limited seasoning, not too strong in taste. But it was quite good, but not the greatest. Gotta recommend this place, based on the price for the amount of food you get, but if you are going for a high quality extremely delicious steak house, gonna have to direct you elsewhere. read more

Our family loves Tucker's steaks. The 14oz bacon wrapped fillet is our go to and if it ever comes off the menu, my grandmother will be lost. All of their food is perfect for dinner and leftovers the next day. Some of the staff has been here for years and their service is amazing. During COVID, we ordered pickup and had to wait a few minutes longer than they said, but that's to be expected during a dinner "rush" (aka 3 cars currently waiting in the parking lot and more pulling in as soon as another left) and with a limited staff. Try the onion rings and burgers if you're not a steak person and they won't let you down either. read more

DISAPPOINTED We tried to go eat at Tucker's tonight. We asked to be seated in an area the didn't have a lot of people. The individual who was seating us took us to the large room in the back and tried to seat us in the most crowded room. If the tables were 6 ft apart, or tables were closed so we could sit 6ft from the other table we would have sat in that room. The individual then moved us to the next room, the only table that was clearly 6ft from the next occupied table was right next to the bathroom. After we were seated my husband over heard the server from the large crowded room ask the person who sat us 'whose table is THAT!' We sat for more than 5 minutes, nobody waited on us, and 3 different people went right past our table to the bathroom 'no masks'. We got up to leave , there were 2 individuals at what I can only assume is the hostess stand with their heads down looking at a phone. Nobody saw us leave, very disappointed. My final note, if you are going to have a hostess stand, have professional dressed, mature individuals working it. My experience now since this is only my second time at this restaurant, is the individuals seating patrons aren't at the stand, both times they were in the bar, and behaving as though they were patrons in the bar. Furthermore neither time were they dressed as though they were seating patrons at what I assumed is expected to be a higher end Steak House. Not impressed that this restaurant has really taken Covid-19 seriously! The restaurant that we ended up eating at we spent over $$$ and left a sizable tip. read more

I have a fairly long history with Tucker's Place. I started going there when they only had one location in Soulard. The last time I went to that location I was with my soon to be 2nd ex-wife. We had purchased tickets to see Phantom of the Opera at the Fox before she lost her mind and announced she was leaving me and our two sons to be with a man in New Orleans that she met on the Internet. I didn't have anyone else to take, so she went with me along with another couple. We had dinner before the show at Tucker's. There was a guy with a guitar singing and playing quite loudly and I complained to the waiter. He informed me, "It's the owner, I can't tell him to turn it down." Alrighty then! After the play the other couple invited us back to their house. They gave us wine and we all got into their hot tub. It was August, and hot and humid. I'm not much of a drinker and I started growing faint, I knew I was about to pass out and I handed my glass to someone and the next thing I knew, I was traveling down a dark tunnel towards a bright light. Just as I reached the light I heard a voice calling to me, "Go back, go back! You're wife is still on your insurance policy." Then I came to. Back to the review: I hadn't been to Tucker's for over 10 years. My cousins gave me a gift card for my birthday and I decided to take wife #3 there for dinner (she's a keeper - we've been together for 20 years). Did you know that once you're over 60 there's a state law that says you must eat dinner out before 5 pm? It's true, look it up. We got to Tucker's Place in Ballwin at 4:15 PM. We wanted to beat the crowd. Tucker's is very popular because of their reasonable prices and good food so our strategy worked. We were immediately seated, and within a minute of sitting down a waitress came and took our drink order. HOW TO EMBARRASS YOURSELF WHILE EATING OUT I ordered a root beer, my wife a Coke. Just a minute later our waitress returned with our drinks and took our food order. We both ordered the 8 ounce filet mignon, medium rare. It came with a baked potato, dinner rolls, and house salad. Within the next 5 to 7 minutes we got our rolls and salads. Great service! While we were finishing our salads a young lady came by and refilled my soda. I didn't know if she realized it was root beer and not a Coke. I tasted it, and it tasted different from before. I gave it to my wife and she agreed it tasted like a mixture of root beer and Coke. Honest mistake. When our waitress brought our steaks and baked potatoes I mentioned it to her, and she said, "Oh, I told her you had root beer." Open mouth, insert foot. I apologized and asked her if I could get a regular Coke, and she said, "Sure" and took my root beer and returned with a Coke. They must be used to silly old men like me. The steaks and potatoes were delicious. The only thing was they weren't medium rare, they were closer to medium. Neither my wife nor I felt like sending them back so we ate them. They were good, just not as juicy as a medium rare steak would be. When it was time to pay I gave our waitress the $50 gift card my cousins gave me for my 70th birthday. The bill was $52.50 and we added the $2.50 plus the tip in cash. The waitress returned our money and said that they could only charge the card $40 of the $50 for the meal, but I could use whatever part of the balance for her tip if I wanted. I told her to use the remaining $10 for her tip. Then we needed to give her another 12.50 for the balance of our dinner bill, which we did. I was planning on giving her 20% for her tip, but we spent 10 minutes working out the details of the gift card, the bill, and her tip, so I just left it at $10 which was a little less than 20%. So, that's why I can't give Tucker's Place more than an A-OK rating. The service was very good, the food very tasty, but they gave us medium steaks instead of medium rare, and it took too long to deal with the gift card. I've never had that problem before when I used a gift card to pay for a meal. With all the great restaurants in St. Louis, it may be another 10 years before we return to Tucker's. NOTE: I love Tucker's lemon-pepper house dressing. I buy it at Schnuck's when it's on sale for under $4 a bottle. I use it on my salads and to marinate fish. read more

What a shame! This was always one of my favorite places to go for a good steak dinner. Not tonight, the steak was awful (lots of gristle) and the waitress was terrible. We saw her maybe 3 times all night. One of a number of problems we had was never getting the appetizer we ordered and when we got our steaks we mention not getting the appetizer and told her to cancel it. She said "okay" and walked away without even apologizing for the screw up. There are to many good steak houses to get a quality steak with at least decent service. read more

We had great food and great service. They made my husband's steak exactly how he likes it, Pittsburgh style, which most places screw up.

Not very impressed. Walk in the door, hostess didn't even greet or say welcome. Just how many. Ordered 3 entree "specials" of the 14oz. Filet steaks meals and a burger. Server also wasn't overly friendly but did bring our drinks and food. The steaks were very undercooked and not overly tasty. Busboy provides all the cleaning of our table, in progress, refilled our drinks, and brought napkins, extra plates, etc.... for our birthday celebration. The "specials" were NOT reduced in price, as we feel the "special" implied. And we had to ask about them as they weren't on the menu. Total bill, $130. Pretty disappointed as this establishment was highly recommended. read more

We made a reservation for 10 earlier this week for a family event. The gentleman who took the reservation said there was no problem with accommodating 10 we were confirmed. The reservation is important as we have young children and a 92 year old in our party. When we arrived there was no reservation and the Jostes informed us there would be a 45 minute to and hour wait. Then she asked if I knew who took the reservation. Since when do I have to make not of WHO took the reservation. This review is long overdue. I just came across this picture of our dinner from last year and decided to finally write the review. Tucker's Place is a unique restaurant. My wife and I have been frequent visitors over the years. The place is usually crowded around dinner times and the wait time is around 20-30 minutes depending on the party size. During lent, they have a lobster tail special. I would highly recommend it! As you can see from the picture you get 2 nice size tails, a large potato and salad. This restaurant also severs up good steaks and tasty pork chops at a fair price. They have different specials throughout the year so check the website. The service is typically good and the décor is average. I would recommend trying out this restaurant if you want a tasty steak, pork chop or lobster tail. read more

This place was so delicious with their Porterhouse! The ribeye is not on the menu but it was 16oz for $26 which is pricey but because I got 20oz porterhouse for $23, it would mean the ribeye would be above and beyond. This place is packed with older people with white hair that loves to spend their money on a Sunday! But is very family oriented. The inside of area is huge once you pass the small waiting area. Could leave some people claustrophobic and clumsy people or people that have body issues to be sitting on small high stools. The wait list waiter did a fantastic job but who coordinates the table should have bigger tables because we were 4th to get table after 3 waves of people came in after us while waiting. Our table size was only 6. The food was the best.. The steak was bouncy and well prepared !! Tasted great ! And the house salad sauce was terrific !!! read more

We stopped for dinner at Tucker's Place. The dinner started off poorly with a hostess who was very rude and non accommodating. Next we had the slowest waiter on planet earth. It took 2.5 hours to have dinner. They had no vegetarian options for my daughter like an impossible burger so we had to bring in a meal for her. They totally did not understand what gluten free means for my wife so we had to explain it to them. If you have food allergies or vegetarian then you will want to avoid this restaurant as they have no clue what that means. The steaks had a ton of fat in them so only about half the steak you could eat. No one asked why only half the plate was eaten so they must know how terrible the service here is. Plus if you come in during happy hour they will not honor happy hour prices unless you are in the bar. If you are in the patio you are screwed and get to pay full price for everything. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

I have been going to Tucker's Place since they opened in West county. I loved this place! Food was always really good, the service was always fast and attentive. The last 4 times I have been there over the last several month's, have been awful. Service is horrible! Not only is the service bad, the servers are rude! Ditto for the managers. The food is still ok, but I haven't had a steak cooked to order the last 3 times. We were most recently there last weekend and 3 out of the 6 of us had overcooked meat. This makes me sad. Anniversary dinner recommendation from a friend did not disappoint. Bread was fresh and tasty, salad was fresh and delicious with bacon and onion. Potato was a potato, nothing special but the strip steak was very large, done to perfection and very very tasty and tender. Well here we set .....we walked in sat right down, and man did the fantastic experience begin!!! Our server was right at the table to take our drink order ...and bam! Taking our food order to keep things rollin'!! We decided on the house salad, 8oz filet mignon and baked potato.....salad was just hitting the spot and here comes the steak!!! Wowza the steak was cooked to perfection!!!! Once we were finished ......bam the plates were gone and we were wishing we had space to do another round!!! I like Tucker's when I want to get a great burger. Love their cheddar cheese. My complaint about this Tucker's and all their locations is the congestion. So many tables crammed in close together. We've been coming to Tuckers for the past 25 years. Unfortunately, the past 2 times we've experienced sub par service (mostly hostess and wait times). In addition, the food wasn't what it used to be. We've done birthdays, anniversaries and holidays there and this past attempt for our son's birthday was the final straw. We were told a 30min wait (table of 5), which is definitely manageable. After 45min we checked back in only to be told maybe another 10-15. Again, not horrible but slightly frustrating Hearing at least 8-10 parties that checked in after us get seated (granted parties of 2,3 and 4's). After another 25min we checked in again and they said they were busing our table and would be a few min. Another 15min went and still nothing. Manager walked by and I flagged him down to explain the frustration and this was the second time in a row that we've had a less than desirable experience. The food used to be great and would like to think we just had bad luck and got lost in the shuffle but 2 times in a row is not acceptable. Not that this should matter, but our bill usually totals $200+ for our family. Unfortunately, we will take our business elsewhere in the future. read more

UYE Farewell to the Wonderful Paul K., Monday, January 9. The table setup was exceedingly helpful to allow "whole group" conversations. Freddy was our server, and he was particularly attentive, friendly, gracious . . . and he got all the orders right. There was the water guy, who had to return to the table so often, I offered for him to just leave a pitcher of water on the table for us to pour our own more-water. He said he was debating it . . . he may still be. Most meals came with a salad, potato and entrée. The salad inclusion was nice. The food came out relatively quickly, but nobody was really watching the time. We were all gabbin' and having an enjoyable evening -- appropriate for a Paul K. send-off. The salad was generous and fresh and sported crumbled bacon (YIPPEE!!). The bleu cheese dressing was incredibly rich, and I used it all. Hey, it was a big salad. I got a porterhouse, which was massive and perfectly prepared medium-rare. So, so, so tasty, with no need for salt or pepper. I opted out of the potato for vegetables, which were a fabulous mixed grille of green beans, red and orange pepper strips, asparagus and broccoli. It was terrific, and there was an upcharge. Paul offered me a taste of his gorgeous pork chop (which was #2 on my list), and it was divine. They do know how to do their meat. It was a lovely evening with great Yelp folks, and I had three more meals in my to-go vessel. That's thrifty, right? read more
