My husband loves this location - it's like an older pub/tavern feel. They didn't have any highchairs or boosters, so that wasn't a good start but, our waitress was clipped but kind enough after we ordered initially. We got their pizza (w/ hamburger bc that's all my husband wants, lol) and then ordered a huge chef salad with delicious blue cheese dressing, and buffalo chicken sandwiches. All food was out quickly, correct, and delicious. We also ordered another pizza to go. They have a lot of steak on the menu and other entrees but we didn't want to eat a huge meal later at night after just arriving on a flight but, this is a great spot for dinner and the vibes inside are really cool. We sat beside a brick fireplace at a large round table and it was decorated with some books and interesting items. My toddler (almost 2) is super excited to be on the move and never wants to sit still so, after stuffing herself with their delicious St. Louis-style pizza, she wanted to run around. Fortunately, the room off the bar by the entrance was empty as they were prepping to close, so she ran around in there happily for about 10 minutes while my husband and stepson finished up their meal. Friends asked us out to dinner and they suggested Tucker's. We had never been here before and I'd heard good things, so that's where we went. After going there, I truly don't understand the hype. We got there around 5:30 (our friends like to eat on the early side and they also thought we may not have a long wait at that time. It was packed! We were told it would be around a 30-40 minute wait. We crammed in with everyone else waiting. Fortunately we only had to wait 15 minutes. We followed a hostess through a few very crowded rooms to our table. The service was great! The food and vibe - not so great. There are too many tables crammed in there. There's very little space to walk between them. We watched servers dodging people/tables/chairs while carrying big trays of food. When seated, you're practically sitting on top of the people at the tables by you. All of that also makes it kinda loud. My husband do the haddock special. He said the flavor of the fish was okay, but that it was over cooked. I got the burger and didn't eat most of it. I pretty much assume most places can make a decent burger. It was perfectly pink in the middle. The outside was black and it was very salty. The bottom bun was so soggy, I didn't even use it. Our appetizer of jalapeño poppers was the highlight! One of our friends ordered pizza and said it was really good. The other one ordered a steak and said it was okay. Tucker is definitely has great food . The ambience is nothing to write home about it's an old place, they could definitely use an update. I'm pretty sure I've eaten my way through the menu over the years. I go here at least once a month with my husband and friends. All American food , such as hamburgers,, steaks, fries, baked potatoes, fantastic salads. They have a full bar. Tucker's is definitely better than any other restaurant within 6 miles. read more

Went for dinner with friends. We have been there multiple times before and never had problems before. Everyone's steaks came out at the right temp. Mine was over done. When I alerted the staff they took it back. I waited for over 20 minutes (after everyone finished their food) a they brought out a steak that was even more over cooked than I requested. I was told that it looked more red inside than on the patio. The manager did not come by to speak to me and the waitress was left to deal with me all by herself. I ordered a rare steak. I'd probably be okay if Tucker's was the only restaurant on the planet; this is my be-all and end-all for incredible food in a relaxed atmosphere. I've never experienced a bad dish here, though I'll admit my default is the filet mignon with the best baked potato in the galaxy. My husband is a devotee of their pizza and my friend is hooked on their burgers. Desserts aren't made on premise and are very forgettable -- but that's not why you go to Tucker's. The service is fine, not amazing or terrible, and it's disappointing that they don't offer reservations or carryout -- but if that's how they need to run their business to make sure all their customers get good food in an efficient way, I get it. We came here for family dinner and sat outside. I can attest to the cocktails or the inside but I can say our server was AMAZING as well as the young man who was his busser. My mom didn't enjoy her cheeseburger, said it was dry and didn't taste good. We ordered the steak specials of the night. Ribeye with 2 sides, opted for a Loaded Baked Potato which is $2.75 extra but well worth the upcharge. The loaded portion has cheddar cheese and real bacon chunks with sour cream. We also opted for a side of vegtables which is a $2.75 upcharge as well. The vegtables are seasoned and the portion is large. A medoly of broccoli and green beans. The ribeye was cooked perfectly as requested medium. They provide bread for the table which I didn't get a chance to taste. I noticed that on the yelp page and on their webpage Tucker's claims that this is a great place to go for steak. So it's with some curiosity that I decided to have dinner there while traveling for work. They have many delicious looking steaks on the menu, but Tuesday is apparently prime rib night. While there are three locations for this restaurant, the original is this location on Manchester Road. And on the night we came in, they were packed! And no, they don't take reservations. The place has an old-school vibe and feels very much like a neighborhood bar and grill. Our waitress was absolutely phenomenal and super fun with lots of good jokes. The service overall was just phenomenal. Normally you just see your weight staff, but in this case there were other staff members roving around clearing dishes, topping off water, and making sure we were OK. I decided to take the waitresses recommendation on the prime rib. Let me say that I am not a prime rib fan in general, however, our waitress made a very convincing case in that this prime rib was finished on the grill and was more like a steak according to her, I decided to trust her judgment and recommendation and went with the prime rib. I was not disappointed! It was the best prime rib I've ever had, however, our waitress told me that some people either love it or they hate it. It had the consistency of a mistake and the flavor of prime rib. I've never had anything like it, and it was absolutely outstanding to the point that I would return to this restaurant on a regular basis for the prime rib. read more

arrived at 5:00 pm on saturday. after about 35 minute wait, the tilapia arrived very over cooked. It was sent back. the other item was a pork chop. It was extremely blackened and dry. he tried to eat a couple of pieces of it, then cut a small piece off for me, I had sent mine back was sitting there with nothing. I took a bite and said this is so dry, I cannot even chew it. then the pork chop was sent back. then a manager came by and since it was cut into said we ate 1/3 of it. then an argument ensured regarding the manager charging us for 2/3 of the pork chop. just unreal. we should have just got up and left. this being said, we have had good meals there before. this is bad bad management. will be a long time before we go back there if ever. read more

We had burgers here one night on a whim, and they were excellent burgers! Just a little pink exactly like I asked for, and brushed with a little steak sauce just how I like it. The fries were better than my veggie side, could use better side veggies but that's ok. Our service was excellent and the place was clean. Would not really recommend (dinner). Stopped by with family for a birthday celebration. I drove up there a little earlier to get our name on the wait list, they do a traditional paper waitlist instead of call/texts so just be aware of that. The wait for 7 wasn't that long and we were seated promptly. It was a bit dark in there for a Saturday evening, also FYI. We were brought out rolls by our server and we ordered mozzarella sticks and toasted ravioli as appetizers. The toasted ravioli was pretty good (9/10) but the mozzarella sticks were okay (7/10). For our meals, we were brought out dinner salads and a complaint that majority of us had was the ranch being too watery. Ill give them points for having bacon bits on the side to add to the salad. I ordered the Grilled Norwegian Salmon with Cajun seasoning and the Works Potato. Also was able to try the Filet Mignon with the Works Potato as well. For the salmon, I would rate it 2/10. It was charred too much to where I couldn't even taste the seasoning. Because it was over-charred, the fish was very dry, I tried using A1 sauce, Worcestershire sauce, sour cream, butter, etc to try to save the fish but I simply just could not finish it. The steak on the other hand was better, the A1 sauce definitely helped but even at medium, it still had a little more chew than suppose to. The Works potato looked like it was going to be star of the show but it seems as if they loaded the top of the potato and forget about that interior area (5/10). One of my other family members said that they got one of their burgers with fries and the fries were a very hard/crunchy. Overall, I probably won't be back to this location. They have another one in Soulard which I heard might be better. Their prices were pretty good for what you got and their service was amazing which is why I keep them at 2-star despite poor food performance. Tucker's was such a good experience! I enjoyed my baked potato like it was nobody's business. It was savory, flavorful and LOADED. Get the bacon and the cheese and the chives and do not skimp on the butter. While I enjoyed Alicia's cheerful demeanor and disposition it was hard not to notice her colleague having a rough evening. She wasn't very smiley or welcoming and passed our table a lot making it hard to ignore her. Alicia was so chipper and kind, it made up for it! Since it is a steakhouse, the menu is geared toward steak dining. I had the top sirloin and wasn't super thrilled. I enjoyed my salad with lemon pepper vinaigrette and dinner rolls more than my steak. I enjoyed their steak sauce and charbroiled flavor but the cook on it wasn't that great. It just might not be my preference of cut so I won't fault the kitchen. I'll certainly be back again to try the filet or the salmon (which my sister loved). Met former co-workers at Tucker's Place for lunch on a Friday. We opted for patio seating. The pro's: Delicious food! I had the Chicken Tender Salad with the honey mustard dressing. The portion was generous, the dressing tangy and delicious. My friend had the Monster Fish Sandwich with salad, another had a loaded potato with the veg of the day, and the last had the burger with clam chowder. Our waitress was kind, accurate and attentive. The patio is a lovely place to sit and eat in fine weather, which we enjoyed that day. The cons: While the patio is lovely, especially compared to the VERY dark and dingy/dirty-feeling indoors, our table was dirty the way typical patio furniture gets, which is one thing at home, quite another at a restaurant. It would probably be wise to get, and easier to thoroughly clean smooth-surface tables rather than the pebbled-surface one at which we were seated. One of my company had used a wet-wipe to clean her hands before eating and then wiped the table - it came away black with filth. All of that being said,mid likely return for a meal, though I doubt I'd eat inside. Certainly would be comfortable with carry-out. read more

Not my first time trying out Tucker's Place, but saw lots of reviews on what they were famous for, steaks. Once we were seated I started to remember my last experience. The setting is a bit dark, a bit crowded as in the tables being close, and there were some areas on the walls questionable of how recently they were wiped down. We ordered mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and they were served with marinara. They were hot and had a good cheese pull. Steaks were served with rolls, a house salad, and a baked potato. My first take away was that she was informative about the specials, though when ordering my salad I didn't realize there was bacon on it. It was loaded with bacon when the busser brought it out quickly. The problem is that I don't eat pork, which isn't that uncommon with how many cultures are in the area. I didn't end up eating it because it was hard to pick through. The steak was served and it was hot and had a good charred taste but was a little rarer for ordering it medium. Baked potato hot but nothing more than a normal potato. Only one other time she checked into our table until we asked for the check. It was a good meal, though probably won't come again unless for the bar aspect. read more

A busy and hopping place with a cool vibe. I ate at the bar and got great service. I had the prime rib special with a loaded baked potato. I'm not usually a prime rib guy but the prospect of having theirs, which they sear on the grill, intrigued me. I'm glad I took the bartender's recommendation. It was delicious. The portion sizes were huge and I got 2 meals out of it. It was just as good the next day. I will definitely go back to Tuckers. Their food is great. The bartender service was outstanding and fun. Felt like treating myself, so went to the so called "best steak place in St. Louis". Ordered the New York strip, and I do not think I have ever had a worse steak in my life. The only flavor was on the outside, and even that had a hint of unpleasant burnt taste to it. Server was pleasant, but a little curt, and very incompetent. She asked if I wanted bacon on my salad, which I didn't. I told her I didn't, and thanked her for asking. Well, she then brings the salad, with bacon on it!! No ambiance really to speak of, just a very crowded place, with tables set very close to each other. If you are craving steak, Tuckers is the place to go! Went on a Sunday a little after they opened. Had a great experience. I ordered the porterhouse which comes with a house salad and potato.. add the works if you like the bacon and cheese I did and my wife regretted not after trying mine. Steaks were cooked on point as well. One spot that really stood out was the service, our server Sheri was fantastic and an absolute gem. Didn't catch the young ladies name who was bussing the tables but she was great as well made sure drinks were full and plates were pulled. I am a fan, and why not? They feature a solid menu with decent prices (for a steakhouse), hard working, efficient long-time-employed waitstaff, decent bar options, and it's close to where we live! While I have been here dozens of times, this late Sunday evening was not the best. Seated quickly by a friendly hostess, we were served by a very nice and efficient waitress. We were in the room with fireplace and it was very cozy. Oddly, a couple behind us were on a speaker call for about 45 minutes. My daughter and I are pretty easy going, but it was still distracting to hear them talk for so long! Someone should have asked them to wrap up the call... just saying. We both ordered the Pork Chop Lollichop special. I have had this dish so, so many times and am a fan. Tonight was not good. The chip was between a rare and medium rare. I personally don't mind a medium chop, but this was way undercook, especially given that I didn't order it that way. I did alert our waiter and she took the portion I hadn't eaten and went to the kitchen to have it cooked some more. My daughters seems to be cooked a bit further, although we did find some undercooked sections near the bone. While I appreciate the waitress taking the food back to be cooked further, I did find that very strange. Although, I confess this has never happened to me before, so maybe that's common. Everything was going well until the food was delivered!!! I had ordered the chicken entree which is served with a salad,a baked potato and topped with pineapple. I have ordered this dish many times, it has always been very good!!! I told the waitress I had never had the chicken entree so charred. Her reply to me was "I like charred". To be honest I don't really care how she likes her chicken!!! I am sending two pictures of the chicken breast that was too dried out to eat!!! Went to Tuckers Place, West County Location, looking for a casual evening and a good steak. I have been to Tucker's many times before but since it never disappoints, I thought I should leave a note so that others might enjoy it as much as I always do. First, it is a popular place so you may have to wait for a table. Just relax and maybe visit the bar, because it is worth the wait. Next, you will be escorted to your table by a lovely, knowledgeable lady and quickly attended to by your server. You will probably notice that the prices are more than reasonable for all the menu items, especially the steaks. I always order either the larger fillet or ribeye because I love both and if there is any left, it will be great the next day. Anyway, another nice thing is that the price of the steak includes a side salad and a choice of side. These days, the higher end steak houses do not include sides in the price of the steak, which makes Tucker's an even better value. I have eaten at some of the best steak houses in the country, so is this the best steak I've ever eaten, maybe not, but it is close and as far as value, it is by far the best! If you just want a burger, try theirs. For lunch, the burger combo includes a side and beverage. I highly recommend Tucker's. One note, not the best for young kids. No highchairs or kid's menus. But, knowing this, I wouldn't hesitate to take my young grandkids. They appreciate great food just like grandad! read more

They raised prices recently, I understand this as meat prices are going up However, my steak was full of gristle, tough and served as less than hot, It wasn't good. My wife's salmon was not well cooked-over cooked. I doubt very much that my steak was not"choice" meat. Our server was a mess. She was carrying our salads in a very cavalier fashion. An accident waiting to happen, I actually ducked away before she dumped the salad dressing all over the table and floor. We eat at Tucker's fairly often. We had a large group of 12. First, our server was amazing. She was attentive and well versed in the restaurant business. We were told they had an amazing burger. Six from our party ordered the burger. Overall, it was a hit. One was overbooked, but it was extremely busy. As for my haddock, it was very dry. My daughter's salmon was also dry. Next time I'll stick with the hamburger. The appetizers were your basic fried delights. The zucchini sticks were enjoyable.
