Tucker's Place at Manchester and 141 on a Sunday night. These restaurants are always busy. We had a party of 6. I ordered the Char Grilled Steak Salad with blue cheese crumbles and lemon pepper dressing. I love the Tucker's lemon pepper dressing. Best thing there! I ordered the steak rare because I didn't want it to be dry. Other orders were a couple of pork chops, chicken, grilled shrimp, and a filet. In terms of food everything was fine except that the filet was undercooked. They took it back and cooked it some more and brought it back out. The major complaint here was our server. He was clearly busy but after we got our entrees he went MIA. We had to flag down another server to get the undercooked filet straightened out plus two members of our party couldn't eat because they were waiting for him to bring an extra plate. Friday night, 5:30 ish, party of four and it looks pretty crowded. We were told about a 30 minute wait. No problem...until there was a problem. After listening to many names be called over the intercom...called multiple times for some...after 50 minutes I went up to the hostess to find out how much longer. She said I had been called 15 minutes ago. Not even possible. They have an intercom. I don't know how my group slipped through the cracks but boy did we ever. We were given next available table. I was wanting to try the burgers here. Many on my neighborhood app suggested this is one of the best around. Price is $5.95 (can't beat that for a 9 ounce burger); sides are ala carte. Fries are $2.95 (small portion). I ordered a medium rare burger that came out medium well. No pink at all. The other two burgers at my table were pink, juicy and medium rare. Not mine. Tomato is by request. Fries were good. Kitchen apparently inconsistent. Food came out in a timely manner. Service was excellent...our drinks never ran dry, didn't have to ask for extra napkins and servers were friendly. The place was packed. Pretty sure this is normal. Standing room only in the waiting area. They are doing something right here to have this crowd but they didn't come through for me tonight. Darn. Doubt I'll stop here again. read more

Did not even go in once we saw the cocktail area which was crowded as normal, but absolutely no Masks. Saw that and decided it wasn't safe if that was indicative of what we were going to experience. I am all about supporting our local restaurants which is why I have given Tucker's West (on Manchester) repeated tries. Every single time we order take out multiple things are wrong. Usually it's the french fries are not done, and our hamburgers are raw. EVERY SINGLE TIME. And each time after I'm disappointed I try Tucker's again because I want to support our local business's and feel like maybe it was just a bad night for them. Then I order tonight and it was so bad that I could not eat my cheeseburger because it was so raw and had to cook the French fries for 15 minutes before I could eat them. First bite was hair;( Stopped in for lunch a couple weekends ago. I ordered the special of the day. It was a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. It came with a beverage and a side. I had a diet coke and fries. My first bite was pulling a loooong light colored hair out of my mouth. At first I thought it was cheese but I quickly realized it was not. I had to cough out the food in a napkin. Sure enough it was a looooong hair in all it's glory. When I showed it to the server this is what she said:" Oh, that is not anyone's hair color working now, that must be from the prep girl who breaded the chicken". LIKE THAT MAKES IT OK She took away the sandwich without any discussion as to what I want to do?? She left me with the fries and eventually comes back with a new one. Now, I have no fries to go with the sandwich. I didn't care anymore anyway, my appetite was lost. My husband ordered some salad and offered me to dig in, but it was laden with Provel and given the choice I would eat the hair. However, I was kept busy by a terrorizing bee. And the but... -Last time I was here there was a line at the host station for (seriously) 10 min. before someone asked the bartender who sent over a hostess who didn't a. welcome us, b. apologize for the wait or c. smile. I understand we all have bad days, but as the "host" you represent the restaurant (and get paid for it), not yourself. Then, the server didn't bring my food out! WTF? It was a party of two...how do you not realize that one customer has a big plate in front of them and the other doesn't? Then he wouldn't even stop when we tried to get his attention. Didn't even look at us. When we finally had someone (not our server) ask how we were doing we mentioned it and he grabbed the server who's apology was, "I'm sorry, It started raining and I got busy." Recently went here and had a fillet Mignon. It was decent, not great, and $20, so is about what I expected. Also had a salad with the house dressing and it was very sweet. It took a second to get used to and I liked it after about the third bite. Bread was served with our meal, which neither of us tried, so I cannot report on it. We both had baked potatoes and they were good enough and came with the toppings that each of us requested. We went on a Saturday night and had about a 15 minute wait, so headed to the bar. The bartender took an extraordinary long time to get our drink order. We actually had to ask her if we could order something. It is hard to believe that she did not notice 2 new drinkless people sitting at her bar when there were still empty chairs. Our server seemed to be rushing us. Actually tried to take my plate when I had only eaten half of my food. I guess if you are not shoveling in your food, she assumes you are finished. I was actually in a nice conversation with my guy, so just took a little longer to eat. I once thought about becoming a vegetarian. Within seconds of that thought I punched myself in the face and ran to Tucker's for a steak. This place is a vegetarian vanquisher. If Gandhi walked in here he'd come away with a free t-shirt for eating an 80 ounce strip...if Tucker's had such a promotion..and if Gandhi had a time machine. For around $20 you get your choice of grilled succulence, a baked potato the size of a Nerf football, and a side salad with your choice of dressing. You're also given plenty of dinner rolls which always fit perfectly in the to-go box. I prefer turf over surf so I go with the 10oz sirloin or 16oz strip. More often than not I get the 16oz strip because 16 is greater than 10. I have never ordered the porterhouse. I'm just too lazy to work around the bone. An alluring quality of Tucker's is the atmosphere. There is a charming, ye olde country club feel to the place. However, there's no need to wear your finest blazer and slacks. After having a good experience at the South County location, we were near the West County location and thought we'd try it out. While the food is the same, its like night and day in a way. The hostess wasn't very friendly, seemed more worried about the way she was dressed and I tried 3 times to get her attention until she realized we were there and seated us. Yes it was a Friday night, yes the patio was full but you still need to acknowledge people that arrive and inside still had plenty of seating. The rest of the staff was friendly and nice. The menu is the same as the other location with a few add-ons depending on what you order. The dining room is bigger and you don't feel as cramped. read more

A St. Louis steak staple... Tucker's Place is an all around great restaurant plain and simple. Inside seating has a wonderful rustic steakhouse feel, with old time photos, brick walls, and a fireplace. Outdoor seating is quaint and low key with a privacy fence, multiple trees, and a small bar. The food at tuckers is the best bang for your buck in all of St. Louis. Salad, wings, steaks, and burgers are some of the best around! The steaks are the mainstay of Tucker's place and it is easy to see why. The NY Strip is a great cut of meat, that is so juicy, succulent, and rich in flavor due to their in house marinade. Even though it's not Citizen Kane's or Dominics, the steak truly is comparable with a favorable price. The house salad with their famous Lemon Pepper dressing is loaded with flavor and fresh, crisp vegetables. Truly a must have before ordering the NY strip or their delicious buffalo style wings... An all around fantastic restaurant and one of my favorites in St. Louis. Also, for the daters out there. Tucker's Place is a great joint to take your date to. There's a three reasons this parking lot is always full; Excellent service, good food, and cleanliness. Four of us where there 1/23/20. We knew enough to get there about 5:30 since there's a bit of a wait by 6:30. The hostess was pleasant. Our waitress had a good sense of humor, was very pleasant and patient and attentive. The busser took care of used dishes quickly. I asked a different waitress to have ask our own waitress for more water and instead she got it herself quickly. My wife's porkchop had a flavor she didnt like and they replaced it quickly. Of the four of us we ordered two "lolly" chops, a burger, and the cajun chicken sandwich. My friend was very particular about his burger and it came exactly as he wanted. Of course it can't be five star every night but they get five stars for trying every night. As we left I was trying to remember why we just didnt come here every time we went out for good food at a reasonable price with friendly service. read more

We have a large party (7) and the hostess refuses to push two tables together and made us wait until the (in use) large table was free. We waited well over an hour to be seated. This was on a Sunday night around 6pm. We watched guests, who had arrived after us, eat and leave before we were even seated. Once we finally did get seated, service was slow and the food was mediocre at best. I think the wait, with the 2 little kids we had with us, was so long that it ruined the evening for us. So close to five stars. The value is amazing, the service is great, but the wait can be long and the A/C could be, uh, turned on. A 16oz. bacon-wrapped filet w/sides for $25? Heck, yeah! Decent quality, tasty house salad (get the house dressing), free bread (in case there's not enough food elsewhere), etc... it's just a nice place to eat out. Servers are friendly and helpful, while runners keep your drinks filled, too. The fish sandwich is probably a foot long (must be half the haddock in there). And worth it. Apparently there's a Friday lunch deal where you get this huge sammie and a drink for under $9. Wish I knew sooner... Best bet, go early and try to get a bigger table for elbow room. This is a busy place so visit at off hours. Highly recommend their thin crust pizza. I get the deluxe, without green peppers, and add bacon. When is the last time you had real bacon strips on your pizza? Yummy! I believe everything I have tried here I would order again. Limited availability for substitutions, but the standardized menu allows them to be very consistent in providing a great product. Great salads, with house made dressings, and really good appetizers. Potato skins are done very nicely, with just the right amount of potato on it and not a greasy, fried lump like some other places, but these are probably baked. Even the wings make a nice entree with a side salad. They offer steaks, pork chops and daily lunch sandwich specials too. I wish they would expand their "to go" menu. I'm a fan. They have very good steaks for reasonable prices and a great lunch and dinner. I have always felt the lunchtime servers were a bit more surly than in the evening, but I have actually come to like that as part of the character. Now I should clarify the lunch servers are still on it, just a bit gruff. The ambiance is classic steak house and really everything I have had from the menu has been good. There's a lot of more expensive steaks in STL that don't hold up to Tucker's standards. I would highly recommend any of there locations for any occasion. read more

This is our go to place for steak. It's not five star ambiance, it's not five star service, it's not five star atmosphere, BUT IT IS FIVE STAR STEAKS! They are consistent, delicious, well-priced and excellent! The burgers are great too, but my favorite is the New York Strip. I've been going to Tucker's west for many year. however I will not be going there in the future. Supported them by ordering take out during the shutdown when you could order anyt on the menu. On Saturday evening I ordered a pizza to go knowing you aren't allowed to order much at all to go. I asked for a small dinner salad I was refused the salad. When I arrived I was surprised to see the restaurant mostly empty being the Saturday before Christma. The bar was nice enough to order me a salad but if this is how you treat customers I will spend my money at some of the other many restaurants in the area. read more

Ate at Tucker's last night with a party of 7...we had a great time! Arrived during a very busy time (during the AFC playoffs) and the hostess was great. She managed to seat us 15 minutes earlier than she had projected. Our server was excellent throughout the very busy night. We tried the salads, burgers, pizza, tilapia, salmon, filet, and shrimp. By far, the kids enjoyed the salad the most. We heard they were fresh and delicious...they didn't disappoint. They barely had room for the burgers and pizza, but they all agreed that they were great. The adults all enjoyed the fish dishes...the filet mignon was met with a measure of dis praise...some thought it was a bit chewy (rather than melt in your mouth). For a place known for its steaks, maybe the worst NY Strip I've ever had at a restaurant. Boasting on the menu that it was a "full pound" at least 6 oz of it was gristle or fat. Ordered medium rare, it was cooked properly with a nice sear and looked great on the plate but had no seasoning on it at all. A little salt would have gone a long way. Unfortunately that wasn't the worst part of my experience. I was part of a group of 6 from my office and we had made reservations several days before hand. We were seated at a round table in the back, under one of their air conditioning vents that dripped on me the entire dinner. When brought to the waitresses attention, her response was that the vents tend to do that on hot days and offered me one cocktail napkin to catch the drippings. My co-workers and I tried to uncomfortably squeeze around and make room, but I was still constantly being dripped on. I spent the whole dinner either being dripped on or trying to situate my plate and beer so as not to get dripped in, which was a fleeting effort. If I hadn't been there with a group of co-workers and not wanted to be perceived as a jerk for making a scene, I would have made a bigger deal about this. Honestly, I shouldn't have been put in that position in the first place. I really question how management can expect someone to sit in one of those seats. If it is a hot day, then how about you make that table a 5 top instead of 6? Not only was it uncomfortable to sit there with a constant drip every minute or so, but it cannot be up to health code to have 'who knows what' dripping on the table from the ceiling. Love, love, love Tucker's food, but the last time we were there the service was the pits! We went for one of their "specials" and I arrived first--I was told emphatically by the high school girl at the door that I couldn't be seated until everyone arrived! (Did they ever think that MAYBE I would order a drink and an appetizer for the table if I were seated during that time?) So I had to sit on their very uncomfortable bar stools and wait the 15 minutes until my friends arrived. It would have been a small irritation but things got worse! Once we were seated, it was obvious that the waitress was only interested in turning that table over as many times as possible and was going to rush us. We couldn't carry on a conversation because she hovered, and when I sat my salad plate to the side to eat the salad with my entree, a busboy grabbed it and took off, ignoring me when I asked him to STOP! Unbelievable! I realize that the "specials" may cause busy nights, but this bordered on rude! Tucker's was our "go to" place, but I haven't been back since this happened. My husband and I tried Tucker's Place this week on a whim. We went on a Tuesday night and they were actually on a wait. Fifteen minutes for a table for two. Not an issue- if anything it instilled confidence that we were trying the right place. It's not easy to pack a restaurant on a Tuesday night in January! The decor is comfortable and a little old school. It's dark in there, and they had the T.V.'s going with hockey and basketball on. Not your typical steakhouse, and I appreciated that. It's steakhouse meets neighborhood bar. Our waitress' name was Jane, and she was great. She was clearly busy but incredibly friendly and helpful with her suggestions. As a note- her busboy was fantastic as well- they worked well together to make sure everyone had what they needed and drinks were always full. On to the food. I ordered a Cajun chicken sandwhich with fries, and my husband ordered a filet with a loaded baked potato. My sandwhich was good. Was it the best thing ever? No. But, it was good and filling and exactly what was promised. My husbands food was fantastic. The steak was cooked perfectly and it was a great cut of meat. You could literally cut it with a butter knife. His loaded baked potato was delicious too, filled with cheese and bacon. We had a great experience and loved the atmosphere. If you haven't been and you're in the mood for great steak at a good price you need to try Tucker's Place. I can see why so many people are regulars. read more

Amazing dinner! First time eating at tuckers. The service was nice their is an area in front of the bar that has several tables and a fireplace going where a waitress comes around and takes your orders for some adult beverages. After my name was called I ordered a 20 oz porterhouse and a baked potato fixed with "the works". The waitress was so kind and helpful with my first experience. Tucker's is in a prime location at the junction of 141 and Manchester - it's not particularly hard to find. From the laminated menu, wooden tables, and florescent lighting in the windows, the overall feel is that of a pub-turned-restaurant. That being said, Tucker's does have some of the better steaks for the price paid. Is it 5-star quality food? Well, no...but you probably won't leave disappointed with your meal unless you are incredibly unrealistic about what to expect for this style of venue. Overall - For the price you are paying, it's a good cut of meat and good overall experience. I've made multiple trips and will continue to be a patron. read more
