I came here about a month ago for a work-related meeting. When the boss offers to take you to lunch, you never refuse! Unfortunately, Tucker's just didn't do it for me. The menu is pretty expansive, with lots to choose from. There are some pretty good lunch specials, and everything was really reasonably priced. I went with the fish sandwich and a side salad. The fish sandwich was decent, but it was definitely lacking something; I'm not sure what. The whole thing was pretty dry and not exciting at all. The salad wasn't much better. It was your typical iceberg lettuce creation. The only saving grace was the house dressing, which was sweet and quite tasty. Service was friendly and efficient, so no complaints there. Coming back to re-review...now that we've moved out to the County, we've had an opportunity to try some new restaurants and also to revisit a few. Tucker's is less than 5 minutes away, so this was one of the revisits. This place is never terrible, so it's becoming a fail-safe plan whenever we can't think of what we want to eat OR we want steak and don't feel like driving very far. Although my 1st experience here was ehh, the last few times have been much better. It is still always busy and they DO NOT take phone orders for carryout...BOO! However, we will still venture out since it's convenient if we want a huge burger or a steak. Our newest discovery is the fried shrimp platter - the shrimp are good-sized and fried perfectly. My date and I cancelled our reservations at a steakhouse last minute on Valentine's Day to go here. I've lived in the area my whole life and I seem to forget about this place. I wish I wouldn't. Excellent food and drink for your money. We were quoted 30-40 minutes for a wait so we grabbed drinks at the bar until we were seated. We had to stand, there were no chairs available. Cocktail waitress came up to us and served us. I enjoyed that, instead of trying to make our way through customers sitting at the bar. We started with the breaded mushrooms as an appetizer. Delicious! I ordered the tilapia with Tucker's spices. It was served with baked potato, salad, and I added shrimp to my entree for about $5. All was mouth watering even though I took most of it home. My date ordered the haddock. I had a bite of that - I wish I would have ordered that! All the food was great. But of all, I always love when I have great service. I've been here a couple of times and it never comes to mind when I want a good meal. It just so happened Tucker's was in the right place at the right time for us to satisfy our appetite. The place was packed on Friday night, so we sat at the bar top tables to have a drink and wait for our table. We decided to just sit in that area instead of waiting. I don't really care for stools without a back, but I was hungry. We had their mushrooms for an appetizer and they were good, not great. I'm sure they were frozen, shipped in and not home made. The ranch dressing it came with was awesome though. We shared the 16oz strip steak and marinated shrimp. The salads were good, lots of bacon and other toppings and their house dressing was very tasty. The steak came out perfect medium and the shrimp had a lot of flavor. The service was very good, considering this girl had about seven demanding tables. I'm sure this section is the top spot for servers to make a load of money on a weekend. After all of the hyped up reviews by some in-laws, I found this place to be just 'okay'. The steaks were cooked to the way we ordered, but the marinade or sauce they use take away from the steaks themselves to the point you no longer can tell you're eating a steak. Hey, if you like a steak that has been drained of all natural taste and can settle for marinade, just do it at home and let is soak in Dale's sauce for a few hours before you cook them. OK food but NOT family friendly! I have been to Tucker's several times but I had to rate it at a ONE star due to one reason... they are NOT family friendly! My extended family of ten went to Tuckers in West County for my twin nieces 4 year old birthday to celebrate. Upon arriving, we asked for a high chair for my almost one year old nephew. Their response, "Sorry, no high chairs or booster seats". Then, the hostess asked if someone had in their car. Ummm... hello?!?! We don't come to a "family restaurant" and expect to pack a high chair in our car! Now that I'm reading the other reviews on here, I'm realizing that other families have been through a similar situations. They realize that they don't have the basics but don't care. They don't have high chairs, booster seats, or a kids menu. We walked out of the restaurant before sitting down and they didn't even seem to care. Let's just say that we won't be going back. To ask someone to hold their child the entire meal is ridiculous. I have been to Tucker's several times and their food was good but there are many other businesses that have better food that we will be visiting, sorry to say! P.s. We enjoyed dinner again, our 4th time. The best steak value around. You may find one as good, but can't beat Tucker's prices. My fiancé and I shared a 16 ounce ribeye, fantastic. The only reason for 4 out of 5 stars, is the waiting time was a bit long . Almost any good restaurant (in West County) has a long wait on a Friday night. We will be back, for sure. read more

We have been lived in west STL co for 24 years. Hadn't been in Tucker's in a while. Went recently with some coworkers from out of town. Got the 12oz butterfly fillet. It was really great. Want absolutely terrible service? Come to Tucker's! The bus boy gave us more attention then our sever did. Food was subpar. Drinks remained empty until the busboy saw they needed filling. Server only came to take drinks and food order and then completely disappeared for the rest of our meal. She didn't even ask us if we need anything else. Usually get a really good steak at Tuckers's, but today -- not so good. Anniversary party so I didn't make a big deal of during dinner. I ordered a special -- a Bone-in Ribeye -- medium rare. Truly one of the worst steaks I've had in years. The steak was lightly seared on the outside and raw in the middle. Very difficult to cut with a steak knife. Tucker's claims to have superior beef from Omaha. I lived in Omaha for three years and I never had a steak there that was as grisly as today's. I would have preferred to have quietly sent them a little bit of "customer feedback" via their website, but they don't seem to want to hear from anyone, as there was no way to communicate to them from the website. read more

Walked in with my husband and 13 mo baby. When we were seated we asked for a high chair and he told us they didn't have any. I asked if they had a booster and no to that too. Their website says nothing about no kids allowed and on Yelp it says "kid friendly" with a stroller picture next to it. My husband and I have been to Tucker's place before and there has always been kids. The food is great, but they need to either update website or get some high chairs. I feel like this is a family friendly establishment with it being not fancy and having entrees like pizza. read more

The service was great, this has nothing to do with the service at all. In fact that's the only reason I'm giving them 2 stars. I ordered the Philly cheese steak which is a Weds special. Now normally, I go to an alternate location and they're fine there, amazing even. I order one here & wow....it was terrible. Cheddar cheese? Since when? It's always been a white cheese, like mozarella or something but never cheddar. Found out that they just switched to that...well that was a bad idea. Worse cheese steak I've ever had. Even the peppers were bad. I had some that were hard and I couldn't chew them up so I had to spit them out into a napkin. I had to do this 3 separate times before I decided I can't take this anymore. I politely asked the waitress to take it off my bill because of how bad it was which she did. I don't know about their steaks at this location but if they treat them how they did this cheese steak, I definitely wouldn't expect anything good. This place is charming and old and really reminds me of my grandparents, not in a bad way! It was cute. Staff friendly, food- ok. I got the pizza, with high hopes- slightly disappointed. Place was fantastic on Tuesdays they have a prime rib special that try to come over for as much as possible tonight as always I received incredibly fast and polite service and a fantastic quality steak not like what you will get at a mega chain restaurant where they use cheap cuts . Tucker's is a family favorite. I've been here twice in the last week since coming into town. The food is above average bar/restaurant fare with many dishes home made, such as the salad dressings. The steaks are wonderful for the price point of the restaurant. Meaning, don't expect a $45 steak in a $20 restaurant. What you do get is a great steak, salad and potato. We have never been disappointed with any of the menu choices. Tuckers is a great value. If you want more ambiance for a family celebration you might want to go elsewhere - but for a weeknight dinner, this should be the place! read more

Fantastic steaks. Top sirloin to die for, great filets. The service was wonderful. They got the steak temperatures perfect. The salads were delicious. Here's my only complaint: cheap silverware, tiny plates, bad presentation, no bearnaise sauce. Other than that, if you crave steak, go here. Just went here for late lunch. Server was very rude. My husband had steak which he liked but not as good as longhorn. I had a hamburger which was burnt and awful. The place was very dark and very very dirty!!!! We needed a gift certificate and a sign said ask your server. We asked and our server said "oh no you have to get that from hostess. It has to be on a separate ticket." I will go to the Tucker's in Soulard, but never ever to this one! You need to clean this place!!! read more

This place has one of the better Happy Hours! You have to sit in the bar area or at the pub tables near the entrance to get the happy hour prices. Their pitcher of Killians is very reasonable like around $7. I've had the chicken wings, jalapeno poppers, and stuffed mushrooms. All VERY good! Service was average...I got the bone in ribeye special. It was heavily charred on the outside with a perfect medium rare inside. The steak had no flavor though and was sort of dry. The amount of burnt char was over the top. I had the same experience last time I visited. Won't be back. I wish I could give zero stars!! I just got home from dining at this Manchester location. Out of the party of 4 we had, 4 meals were messed up. I ordered a medium rare 16 oz bone-in ribeye and it came to me less than rare: bloody and so cold that I couldn't even stomach TRYING to eat it. My wife ordered a 14 oz filet (which, by the way, used to be 16 oz. funny - the price stayed the same though!) it was supposed to be cooked medium but came out close to well done. My dad ordered the 16 oz bone-in ribeye as well, also supposed to be medium rare, but his was also close to well done! And how does this even happen, but it was cold. My niece ordered pizza, which - surprise surprise - was also cold! We were on a time crunch and knew my wife's dish would have to be totally redone, so we didn't ask for a new one since we didn't have time to wait. My dad and niece decided to just suck it up and eat theirs. I asked them to throw my ribeye back on the grill, though. It took so long to come back out that I told the waiter to just box it up immediately. No attempt was done to make anything right for us, and we again didn't have time to have a conversation about it. Cut to us getting home and I finally get to eat my dinner. My ribeye was COMPLETELY overdone!!!! I've tried calling the phone number on their website countless times, only getting a busy signal each time. So maybe somehow by posting here I can get through to someone, or, at the very least, warn everyone not to eat at this location!! This place had been a family staple of ours for about 25 years now. My entire family have gone here for many years. The food is decent, service is subpar with crabby ladies but didn't matter...burgers were great. We attempted to go with our 8mos old who is well behaved and sits in a high chair. But, TUCKERS DOESN'T HAVE HIGH CHAIRS OR BOOSTERS! So, we all had a very uncomfortable meal with a kiddo on our lap. Tucker's is the classic old school streak house. A steakhouse that everyone can afford and the portions are huge. Beyond the steak, the wings are amazing and a must try! I've been to Soulard and Manchester locations and had the same experience...Great Steaks! So far, the best steaks in St Louis. The steaks come with a great baked potato and a simple, fresh tasting, tossed salad.
