Frankly, I was craving a little bit of a mess, but no objections. The beef flavor was good. The cheese was fully melted. I do wish the onions were a bit more caramelized. I will admit to being intrigued by the pistachio cake. I almost ordered a slice, but that was too much green food dye for me. Will I return? Yes.

This place was very good, affordable, and gave a lot of food for the price. The portions were big, and everything tasted fresh and flavorful. The staff was friendly, and the service was quick, which made the experience even better. It is a great spot if you want something filling without spending too much money. This place is great. Biscuits are to die for and the other items are fresh, hot and delicious. I have eaten at many "home cooking" places all over the US, and this is one of the best. Cracker Barrel, Bob Evans, Big Boys, etc., can take a lesson from these folks. Place is clean and the employees are very friendly. Try it, you will like it. read more

School canceled, and me coming off a 20-call shift with a five-hour fire standby -- so yes, I was hangry and exhausted. #ShowMeCoffeeandBacon The Black Bird's parking lot had room, the staff waved us in, and we were told to sit wherever we liked. I considered the window seat for the ambiance, then remembered the car thermometer read "well below zero" and chose survival over Instagram lighting. Good call -- the corner booth on the opposite side of the restaurant was cold, the window seats were colder, I'm sure. Service was prompt. Water for the princess, black coffee and water for me -- because coffee is a personality trait. The menu is a delightful problem: too many good choices. I solved this like a rational adult by ordering the dish that crams the most breakfast joy onto one plate. #MostImportantMeal #HealthyBoy I ordered the Two Birds Platter - 2 eggs over-easy, bacon, a waffle, and wheat toast. * Eggs: Perfectly cooked. Not a puddle of yolk, not a hockey puck. Just right. I went with a 12 inch, and was surprised to see when it came out that it was actually just two 6 inch sandwiches. This worked out great, because I only ended up eating half and was able to take the entire second 6 inch sandwich home for leftovers. Overall, the cheesesteak was delicious and the leftovers heated up really well. The STS sauce is kind of a mix between thousand island and chipotle mayo. Interesting, but good. The inside is rather spacious, but we noticed most people got food to-go. Service was obnoxiously good -- I say obnoxious because it was almost to the point of hovering, if that makes sense. But overall, the food was good and they have such a variety that you could try something different each time.

It's like stepping back in time with the chairs tables and wraparound counter and decorations. Just come on and sit awhile it seems to be saying. I didn't take pictures so I'll describe our food. We ordered the hotshot, gravy and biscuits and bacon cheeseburger with fries. The coleslaw is awesome, the hotshot was loaded down with gravy and mashed potatoes and beef. My bacon cheeseburger was definitely the best I had had in long time. Plenty of hot fries and my Dads breakfast was quite to his likin. Eggs, sausage gravy and biscuits and home fries. It was nice eating there with my parents, relaxing after a morning of Doctors appointments. Ps, our waitress was GREAT! She was doing it all by herself. Waitressing, checking people out refilled our drinks all without missing a beat!!

The fried potatoes were not worth the $2(?) up charge - small portion and waaay overcooked. I ordered dry rye toast and was served dry wheat toast. Sigh ... The dining room is olde and tired and has a 1960 vibe in that it is an original 1960 venue and never been updated. It is sufficiently clean; unlike the men's room. I sat at the counter and was invited to join the conversation about everything and nothing. I felt welcomed. Will I return? Maybe ... I am curious about their lunch menu.

This was my first (and LAST) time going there, because while I was eating I just happened to look over at the counter where they were making the food and she took a picture of me while I was eating!?!? Then she came out from behind the counter and started filming me with her phone. Made me very uncomfertable! Then she started filming me while I was eating. I aks her why she was filming me and gave no answer. I apologized twice and then a third time, but it made no difference. I felt so unsafe after that I through my food in the trash and headed for the door. All the time I was leaving she filmed me and I turned to hewr and said Don't worry, I will not be back.
