The Staff at the Ventura Tuff Shed are excellent. Michael was my salesperson, who I might say was excellent. I did receive some assistance from Janice who is also vey nice and helpful. The problem is with their construction department. I have never seen such inept employees. They managed to put my shed together but in an half ass state. The contractor left dozens of hammer marks all over the shed, some so bad, that a crew had to come back and replace the wood. The use of split and cracked lumber is just unacceptable. The biggest issue was with the roof, the contractor DID NOT bring enough roofing material with him to complete the job. It took the submission of photos and complaints to get them to come back, and unfortunately it took a month and two extra trips to finish the shed. My first Tuff Shed went up quickly and with perfection, but that was out of their Ontario office. This Tuff Shed was horrible. Janice and Tuff Shed to the rescue! Allured by the appeal of a low price at Home Depot, I purchased a plastic Lifetime brand shed that had decent reviews on both HomeDepot.com and Amazon. The plastic shed arrived and was installed by a professional contractor. Before filling it with my belongings, I did a simulated rain test and found the shed leaked in many places. The contractor returned and used filler to fill the cracks. We waited a couple of days and retested it with water. It leaked again. I called the manufacturer and despite their lifetime warranty, the only solutions they offered were to continue to water test and fill cracks. The plastic, though "heavy duty," bended and bowed in various places; even without the weight of any contents inside. With no resolution in sight, we decided we were going to have to break down the Lifetime shed and return it to Home Depot. Our contractor recommended we look into Tuff Shed. I looked online and attempted to rebuild a Tuff Shed with the exact dimensions, paint and specifications of the previous shed to ensure it would fit the existing foundation we just had built. Navigating the website so tricky. I called Tuff Shed and was greeted by Janice. I explained my situation, gave her the specifications of the shed we desired and she was able to match it completely. Within minutes we received a quote. It was double the cost of a Lifetime shed BUT it included professional installation! The value of including installation made the total price difference between Lifetime and Tuff Shed nominal. The entire transaction was handled remotely. There was no need to step foot in the showroom. Just days later Tuff Shed arrived and installed their product. The quality and durability of Tuff Shed compared to Lifetime is remarkable! I'd liken it to building a house out of toothpicks compared to two by fours. It has been a few months since the initial install and our Tuff Shed is holding up beautifully. It has seen rain, wind and sun; and never faltered. Why not five stars? We had minor problems with the install that were quickly remedied after contacting Janice. She sent their contractors out a second time to make the appropriate adjustments. It was not a seamless process, but in the end we are completely satisfied with our Tuff Shed. I can't say enough about how easy this process is! Janice is instrumental in the design, offering suggestions and answering questions: can I insulate, should I insulate, is 8x10 the same as 10x8 (no!), can I paint the floor, can I paint the radiant barrier (no!), can I panel it (yes!), eaves/no eaves, and so on. I think she has seen every design option and can explain why you might want one feature or another. The installation team was also incredible. They worked together so well they barely need to talk to each other -- they worked fast, spent time to ensure fit (level base, door hangs plumb, trim aligned), cleaned the workspace as they went, and had the whole thing assembled in 3-4 hours. It almost like watching time-lapse movie they were so efficient. The final product is outstanding quality. The Home Depot version doesn't have all the options the Ventura location can provide, so check them out before you make final decisions. read more

Great Experience!! My wife and I had a couple of old sheds we wanted to replace for our horse feed, tack, storage and a dog area to protect them at night. We had a lot of thoughts that kept changing yet Michael was patient and informative during our multiple visits. Tuffshed was difficult to work with; introducing several months of delay in a larger construction project and extremely poor follow-through. Are they cheap? Yes, compared to non-pre-fab construction, though that is the only thing they have going. They seem very disorganized and unable to meet their own commitments; billing incorrect amounts, finger pointing at other departments, and never returning calls. 1. Were we on time? No. Engineering took several months to complete. A requested revision took another few months. Once engineering was completed, actual construction took 3.5 months (instead of the two days they stated it would take). 2. Would you refer us to your friends, family or other associates? No. While you may save on initial cost, you end up paying for it with delays, high engineering fees, and your own time trying to move the project along. 3. Were we pleasant and courteous? Yes. The salesperson and construction staff were pleasant and courteous. 4. What is your overall customer satisfaction Poor. read more

Really they carry all the materials to your backyard and build it like a little house. This was their smaller shed but they actually do build little houses! At first Michael Cordell seemed knowledgeable and easy going when we first talked to him about getting a shed. When I called him at a later date to discuss some details about the quote he gave us, he did not have a copy. He did not seem organized and said he has tons of papers everywhere. He did answer all my questions, I'll give him that. When my fiance went to their store to sign the contract and finalize things, he noticed the price was higher than we originally agreed on. He stopped them right before they ran the credit card and noticed they were charging us for a different shed. The installers came a few days later and as they were installing the shed, we noticed the galvanized steel base wasn't installed. I called Michael and asked him why. This feature was on our original quote, but apparently this detail was overlooked as well when the contract was written up. I asked Michael how we could fix this and informed me that we would have to pay an addition $400+ to change out the base. Which apparently is their cost price. Tuff Shed might be a good product, but the professionalism and irresponsibility at their store in Ventura doesn't exist. I'm very disappointed that we did not receive all the features that we originally wanted nor customer service was given for a mistake I believe they made. read more

I made an impromptu visit to this business on Saturday with my Father whose in the market for a shed much to his chagrin (blame my Mother) and had a friend mention Tuff Shed and so we we decided to check it out. While the sheds themselves are well made, the lack of staff made for a rather disappointing visit. My Father decided he wanted to look at the sheds before wasting any of the sales clerks time, so we ventured around the lot and looked at each shed and he took measurements. Once he was done, we began to walk toward the office and saw a salesman walking out with a couple (who arrived after us). We walked into the office and it was plain to see they only had one person working that day. After ten minutes of not even being acknowledged my Dad was ready to hit the road. While I respect the fact they were understaffed, I cannot fathom why you wouldn't even acknowledge what could've been a potential sale. I'm not sure if my Dad will choose to go back...as for me recommending this business to anyone, the odds aren't in their favor. read more

I think the best way to summarize my experience is using their own questions: 1. Were we on time? No. The project was delivered with the wrong components. They also pre-built windows and doors in locations that were not part of the plan. Then the install team could not complete installation in the one day they scheduled because they did not have the right parts. The project was partially finished for over a week, and they had terrible flexibility with their schedule. 2. Would you refer us to your friends, family or other associates? No. I wasted a lot of time on phone calls getting bounced around, chasing down the team that had to come and install. I had to take time off work in order to accommodate their schedule, which kept changing. 3. Were we pleasant and courteous? Yes. I have nothing but nice things to say about the people who actually showed up to do work at my home. They were courteous and nice and professional. But the management has no respect for the inconvenience and cost I incurred. After reviewing the design with the sales rep, they delivered modifications and seemed confused about how their own Tuff shed went together. The install team was great onsite, but they were hard to get here. 4. What is your overall customer satisfaction Poor. I think the product is priced for all the convenience and promises that should be delivered. But it turned out to cost me more than a day of work and stress working with the management team who couldn't seem to coordinate to finish a project they left halfway done in my yard. Overall it was a bad experience. I think probably the worst part of their customer support is that after every problem I had, nobody from Tuff Shed has contacted me since the final installation to ensure satisfaction. They even sent an email asking for feedback BEFORE they had finished installation of my shed. read more

IMPORTANT! Make sure the installer has a specific contact to talk to regarding the placement of the shed. We dealt with Michael in Oxnard. He was super nice, very helpful, cooperative and great to work with. We got a great price and bought it the same day. The only problem was the day of delivery, the installer talked to another contractor on site and the shed gets placed in the wrong direction. I mentioned it to the installer and he had a flippant attitude. I called Michael and he said he would talk to production and take care of it. The day after, they came out and moved it to the correct location. They were very professional and apologetic for the issue. Overall we're happy with everything. I purchased a shed mid 2020 and I was told that since it was 120 square feet I would not need a permit in Santa Barbara. It was installed November 2020. A neighbor called the city to tell them some construction was going on. Timo, a city inspector, looked at the shed and told me it was 2 inches too high to not need a permit (height restriction of 10 feet which Tuff Shed did not tell me). I was told I would have to put up seismic upgrades with bracing and 4 corner cement footings. I called Tuff Shed and they had no recommendations and would not help at all. I had to hire an architect, get the property surveyed and contact a contractor. The contractor said the seismic upgrades could not be done and the contractor suggested tearing it down and building something that could be braced, etc., for the seismic upgrades. I was told to stop construction, putting the doors and windows in, until the permit issue could be settled. 10 months later I'm still screwing around with the city. The city recently told me I could put some bark around the structure to raise the ground level 2 inches and get it 10 feet high or under. That was done but meanwhile I have paid the city about $2,000 in fees and the architect and surveyor another $7,000. Trying to deal with the city has been a nightmare. However, Tuff Shed has not made it any easier. Tuff Shed made the window openings too small fir the windows we ordered. Tuff Shed had agreed to make the window openings as per our contract, but the openings were not made according to the contract. What did Tuff Shed do? Nothing! They told me they don't do modifications once the shed has been installed. It cost me an additional $450 to have someone, other than Tuff Shed, to enlarge the window openings. I will probably have to take Tuff Shed to court since I have incurred thousands of additional expenses due to their misinformation about the size of the units that don't need a contract and fixing Tuff Sheds mistakes on the window size. 8 months after installation I am still dealing with the city issues. read more

The price are on the high side but you get what you pay for. We got a 8' x 20' barn and are very happy with the product. Install took only one day and we are up and running. They lost 1 star because they sent the wrong door. They did return the very next day with the correct door and we are up and running. You can live in these things! I recommend getting the tallest shed you can afford. I went to the Tuff Shed dealer in Ventura, after looking at their models at the Oxnard Home Depot. This was easy since they are right across the river. The Home Depot models are their lower end sheds. I'm very happy that I bought a better-quality shed directly from a knowledgeable dealer. Our salesman was Tracy, who was very helpful, and he knew everything about Tuff Sheds... He even called me on the Sunday after Thanksgiving to make sure I was satisfied with the install! After an hour,wWe asked lazy guy at desk to help us and he said he wouldn't waste his time helping us because our initial contact (which was signing up on a mailing list at a home show) was not with him and he wouldn't get a commission.
