I understand mistakes happen which is why I had my insurance company call Rayus the day before to let them know my MRI is fully covered and they provided a billing code. The Rayus employee said she'd update my ins coverage in their system. I followed up and also called Rayus a day ahead to confirm she knew my insurance covered MRIs 100%. But when I arrived at Rayus, they would not give me an MRI and insisted on charging $255. I called my insurance on the spot and put them on speaker. They informed Rayus my MRI was indeed covered 100%. They provided a billing code and timestamp from the call the day before. After I resolved the billing mixup, the Rayus employee said they never received a call from me or my insurance the day before. She lied. Then she said they were running 10 minutes behind and I had to reschedule. Since they caused the delay, I was stunned Rayus took no responsibility; forget an apology, they punished me by cancelling my appointment! I pleaded to keep my appointment because rescheduling meant a 2 week delay of a vital diagnostic test! I missed work for this MRI and the waiting room was empty but she didn't care at all. She callously and sarcastically said I could take my complaint up with her manager, Tami Cyr. That's what I'm doing.

I asked her my question and she yelled, "DON'T GIVE ME AN ATTITUDE!" I thought I was hearing things and asked her what she said. She then said, "YOU WERE YELLING!" I was not, however, I was on my cell in a very busy area outside. I did not respond to her. Needless to say, I was shocked to hear the RUDENESS COMING FROM A "CLERK" TOWARD A PATIENT! I turned around and returned home immediately. Social media will be warned about the LACK OF CIVILITY WITHIN this HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT. STAY AWAY FROM C.D.I. Obviously Aetna sucks, but I never should have been told it would be a total of $60 for my visit. I should have been told it was a $60 upfront fee, but there may be a further payment required. I called and was told I should have read the entire, long contract I was handed when I arrived for my visit. It said that I was responsible for any additional costs after my insurance provider processed the bill. I *had* read that, and *had* asked the question of "how much will I actually have to pay, worst case scenario" specifically because I had read that and was worried. I was assured $60 would be all I owe. So I signed it. Probably a moment of weakness on my part, shame on me for trusting this practice. I'm now legally on the hook for $330 for a session that only led to "you need an endoscopy", when I was assured by an employee of Digestive Health Associates that I would only owe my deductible of $60. On paper DHA can claim no misleading practices (unless I had thought to record my conversation with the receptionist). So can Aetna. But no party in this supposed "healthcare" industry cared at all about me, and for that, I recommend looking elsewhere for a more ethical & caring practice.

Maureen (who did my mammogram) made me feel comfortable, or as comfortable as possible when getting your breasts smashed like pancakes in awkward positions). Jean took me back and showed me the pictures, explained everything we saw and made sure I understood. Fabulous ladies - all of them. I had surgery w/ Dr. Kristen Smith and she was awesome! The women at the hospital where I went for the surgery (melrose Wakefield?) also did a great job of getting me in and out, talking to me the whole time and making conversation. Very funny ladies - made the experience not scary at all. It's rare when I can say I had good experience with breast cancer - but, well, somehow these ladies made it possible. I always left feeling hopeful, or relived. Not to sound sexist, but a bunch of men couldn't pull off the experience I get at the Comprehensive Breast Cancer Center. yay for women!

Week of thanksgiving decided on a whim to go in and get it finally done. I was a walk-in. They were able to take me right away, it was clean, both people working were super polite and kind. I had some mix-ups with my docs office and had to wait awhile for them to fax orders over, and the quest people were so helpful. And they kept checking on me. I also get nervous having a blood draw and this was the easiest I've ever had.
