We came right when they opened on Sunday and the service was fast and friendly. They have an extensive menu with gluten free/ gluten friendly options. It has other allergen labels in the menu too. I had the lemongrass chicken and wow it was so flavorful and juicy. We also had the summer rolls and the peanut sauce was fantastic. My husband had the pad Thai and enjoyed it. What a disappointment. I drove out to this location because I was craving Thai food and have had great experiences at their other spot--but this visit was a massive fail. I started with the spring bites, and it was clear they were old and premade. The wrapper was already starting to harden, which made them tough and unappetizing. I managed to eat two and couldn't go any further. Then came the real letdown: I ordered the Tom Yum Gai soup but asked for shrimp instead of chicken. When it arrived, the smell was so off-putting that I actually paused. I'm writing this while still sitting in the restaurant, trying to stomach it--but something is definitely wrong. I've had this soup many times before and love every ingredient it typically contains, but there's an odor I can't place and can't get past. I drive 45 minutes across town just to have their peanut sauce. This is some of the best Thai food I've ever had. And the service is amazing. It's also in the plaza right next to Medicine Man Gallery which I highly recommend if you're into art in any way whatsoever. It's a gallery, but in end of itself, it's a museum with Southwestern art, western art, modern art, jewelry, textiles, and then there's the Maynard Dixon museum, which is part of the gallery but located around the corner of the plaza. I always order the Vegetable Green Curry every time I'm here. I absolutely love it. It's full of bell pepper, eggplant, green beans, Chinese broccoli, carrot, basil. The spice is medium and my nose always runs slightly when I eat it. On the menu, it's labeled as Green Curry Beef with Rice and the price is over $20. If you want the Vegetable option, it's the same price as the beef option. Their tofu has an odd, off putting taste so unfortunately I don't order tofu. I assume it's GMO tofu so it's best to avoid. Their mango sticky rice is delicious. Wait staff is attentive. Their menu has minimal vegetarian/ plant based options. Their veggie spring roles were very bland when we had them, no fresh mint. I'll be upfront, I've only eaten at this location for takeout. However, I have to say that their food holds up in take out containers and is great to eat as leftovers! I've had their yellow curry, pad see ew, khao soy, and mango sticky rice--and I loved everything! My favorite dish thus far has to be the khao soy, hands down. Although the price appears a bit daunting, the serving portions are super generous--I stretched out the khao soy for three meals! (And I eat a lot.) The mango sticky rice was really good, but some bites had hard rice. I'm not sure if some people prefer crunchy/hard rice in their mango sticky rice, but I like mine smooth and chewy. I think this could be chalked down to personal preference. Review your charges after paying for your food. Was charged 88$ more than was supposed to! Contacted the restaurant and they denied , even though I'm looking right at it on my bank app . Bank confirms that is was done and opened a fraud case to get me my money back. So many people do not check their accounts after paying for food , it's a restaurants responsibility to make sure not to overcharge. Because taking a money from my card without my permission is a fraud and stealing! Worst part is denying it when bank and I see it. I can understand errors and willingness to get that fixed but bluntly taking my money and denying is beyond unacceptable. read more

Been here a few times in hopes of finding a go-to Thai place in town, but have left feeling that it's just okay and doesn't fully satisfy that craving. Staff is lovely, but they often seem to be understaffed so can take a bit to order and get food. The Pad Thai and Pad See Ew have been disappointing - not bad but on the bland side. The soups/curries are a bit better - the Khai Soi is tasty, but I wish the Tom Kha had a bit more of chicken and vegetables. Portions are decently sized, but it is on the pricier side. read more

We were staying at Ventana Canyon and wanted to pick something up close by for dinner close to our place. We saw Tuk Tuk Thai and decided to try them out. Not being familiar with Thai food, we just ordered within our comfort zone. We started out with the Spring Rolls, which were ample and quite a bit larger than their Vietnamese counterparts. For out main course, we had the the Melueang, which is Stir Fried Yaki noodle, with chicken, Chinese broccoli, red onion, bell pepper, egg, and garlic. The dish was delicious and we wouldn't hesitate to order it again. When we return to Tucson, we will definitely "eat in" at Tuk Tuk and try out more items! read more

Well, it disappoints me to report a poor experience. My pad Thai with chicken and wide noodles and egg with a vegetable came as a dry stack. And no eggs. My wife's curry chicken came as a thin spicy curry broth soup. Pour it over rice. A wet mess. The calimari was the saving grace. It was fine. We nearly walked out but tried to eat more by trading our food. That was not helpful . So basically, 3 or 4 bites each, & leave the rest. The waitress Didn't ask any questions. That's too bad too. My partner and I tried the Oro Valley Tuk Tuk Thai previously and thought it was OK. We were in this part of town and decided to give this location a try. We arrived at 6:30 p.m. on a weeknight, and all of the outdoor tables were taken. No worries, the large door separating the indoor and outdoor seating was open, and there was plenty of indoor space available. Our server was prompt, bringing us menus and water in metal cups as we sat down. There are 56 options on the dinner menu, so there is something for everyone. My partner selected the Khao Pad Puu (crab meat fried rice). The serving size was just right for him, and he enjoyed the flavors of his dish. I choose the Pad Thai Street Style with Shrimp. The serving size was two meals for me, but--unfortunately--the peanuts atop my Pad Thai weren't fresh. I did not ask to have them remake the dish because we didn't want to wait and would have been eating at different times. So, I just pushed the peanuts off to one side. The tofu and shrimp were cooked well, and the sauce was tasty. So, it wasn't a complete loss. The service and ambiance were good, but for this price point, the ingredients should be fresh. I'd heard good things and happened to be in the far northeast part of town at noon, so I knew where to go for lunch! I've enjoyed Thai food at several places in Tucson, and find it interesting to see - and taste - the differences. On the SW corner of Kolb and Sunrise, the restaurant is tiny. Ten of the twelve tables were full at 1:00 on Monday, and I was seated immediately. The hostess/waitress asked if I'd like water, and after running errands I certainly did. She brought a metal mug full of ice and water; super cold and appreciated. The menu is brightly colored with pictures and descriptions, lots to look at. Tuk Tuk Thai has specific lunch offerings, but my waitress assured me everything on the menu is available all day. I started with shrimp summer rolls. The platter was gorgeous, bright, and truly artistic. Presentation does matter. A generous cup of warm peanut sauce smelled inviting and the summer rolls were delicious. Crisp vegetables and perfectly cooked shrimp were encased in a very thin and very fresh rice wrapper. Sometimes a rice wrap can have an unpleasant plasticky feel, but not this one. The order came with four rolls, but I ate only two because I knew what was still coming! Billed as Pad Thai Street style with Shrimp, a huge steaming bowl of fragrant ingredients was delivered: stir-fried rice noodles, chives, peanuts, egg, tofu, shrimp, chives, radish and cilantro. The menu doesn't say, but I think there was also finely-julienned cabbage and definitely some chiles. The flavor was a delightful balance of salty, sweet, spicy, sour, and creamy, just as Thai food is supposed to be. The shrimp were a trifle overcooked, but the dish was still delicious. I could finish only about a third of it. Luckily, the hub is not home for dinner tonight, so I have another yummy meal to look forward to. read more

We decided to give this place a try since is close to our home. The place was busy on a Friday night but we manage to get a table. Every time we go try a new Thai restaurant we order Pad Thai so we decided to give a try, first of all the dish smelled strange and it barely had any sauce, the 6 shrimps where extra dry and really hard to swallow, the second dish we ordered was the Tom Kah and it was okay, that was the only edible dish. Also the only drink we ordered, The Pattaya was extremely sweet so we had to water it down in order for us to finish it. I couldn't understand their murals, they looked unfinished. A lot of people feel underwhelmed by Tuk Tuk Thai but coming from Bangkok recently, I must say that the flavors are there...The sabay-sabay cocktail tastes really good and not too strong, I think it has lychee...I always love ordering the ping for appetizer or to share. The pork ping is juicy and tender and can taste cocconutty, really yummy. The basil chicken is classic and the way the egg on top is cooked was fairly similar to how I saw it in Thailand. Their curries are good too but the khao soi feels a little heavy and the ratio of noodles to curry seems slightly off. The coco pumpkin fries is a good dish to get here--not the prettiest but delicious. Lastly, their mango sticky rice is a must. The painting/decor on the walls in this Sunrise location is really bright and lively. The servers are always super nice and attentive, I've never had an empty glass of water or whatever drinks we have and they're not stingy on the chili sauce when requested. The major drawback to this place isn't the food but how pricey it can be. For two people with drinks, an appetizer or two, 2 entrees and dessert can cost up to $80-100+ easy with tip included and doesn't matter really if it is lunch or dinner. However, the servings are really huge but still makes me miss how affordable most of these things were in Bangkok...I think Tuk Tuk Thai is still worth a try but branch out and don't just order pad thai. read more

When we showed up, I was expecting to get take out (thrown off by the name so I was expecting a walk-away situation). We were seated quickly and our server was very chatty and pleasant and more than willing to offer suggestions when we asked. Food was delicious. Only real complaint was that once our food arrived we were largely ignored. I almost got up and snagged a to-go container from the shelf since it was right there (but I didn't). Also, what appeared to be the slop bucket from glasses on the way to the kitchen was fully visible and kinda yucky. They flavored the dish nicely though. Nana thought it would have been good with bamboo shoots. The chicken was a mixture of white and dark chicken in strange shapes. Chicken scraps of all kinds, squiggly, flat, long and short. The chicken did not look appetizing which is why we give it a 3. Tuk Tuk Thai has such a great vibe inside and out, with fun wall art, an inviting courtyard, and an excellent menu (with delicious standards like panang curry and larb to more unique dishes such as crispy chicken and pumpkin curry). We especially appreciated their flexibility in swapping proteins and providing quick, easy service despite the number of seated patrons and carry-out customers. The food was generally mild but can be spiced up on request, since it's made to order. The portions were extremely generous, and we enjoyed three full courses with plenty to take home. Let's start with the good: the Tom Kah Gai was hands down the best entree we had here and sits in the middle amongst the better entrees from any Thai restaurant too. It had a rich coconut flavor and came with ample meat. Note, it comes with chicken but the staff said you can substitute thinly sliced beef for no price difference and we did. The grape tomatoes were a nice twist but the lemongrass was barely noticeable. The lone disappointment about all of their entrees is the requirement to separately order/pay for rice. No entree comes with rice, even the curry dishes. Neither of us had ever heard of that (quite the clever way to upcharge almost every meal). We also had the Spring Bites appetizer. They were small 2x2 cubes and had good flavor and the rice paper wrappers had a nice chew to them. The two gentleman that tended to us were terrific - good-natured and attentive. The not so good: on this Friday evening (6pm) the establishment was 3/4 full and doing a brisk take-out business. We noticed that everyone waited a solid 25 minutes for their food orders, regardless of whether dining in or ordering take-out at the register in front of us. Appetizers did come out within 10 min though. The Pataya cocktail had a nice lychee liquor flavor but the palm syrup made it waaaay too sweet and the alcohol level was low. Our other entree was the Pad Thai. This was the biggest disappointment. The noodles are very thin and pre-cut short (roughly 3-4 inches long). This was different/nice, however, there was almost no sauce (and it allegedly featured tamarind but it was completely unnoticeable). As a result the noodles clumped together. The shrimp (5-6) were tough and dry -- incredibly overcooked or too long in the warmer. No peanuts or bean sprouts either. Lastly, the lone female server tonight was the complete opposite of the two young men - lacking their jovial spirit and attentiveness, almost surly. None of the entrees would feed two adults but all would be satisfying for one average adult, especially with an appetizer. Parking is easy in the Basha's huge parking lot. The tables and ambiance are nice and inviting, particularly the single glass garage door that rolls up to join the inside/outside dining areas. This establishment will likely do well only because there is a dearth of Thai take-out in the foothills but better exemplars of south Asian cooking is available. read more

We arrived at the restaurant around 8 pm Saturday night. There were about half seats taken. It takes some time until someone greets us, we asked for a table for 7. She asked if we had a reservation, and we said no. With reluctance and no smile, she said we were supposed to reserve for more than 6 people. It was only around 8.10 pm, their business hour is until 9 pm. And there were a lot of empty seats...so?! Finally, she let us sit, but with unfriendly tone, she said, "Our kitchen closed at 8.45 pm." So??? It was only 8.10 pm, it won't take more than 10 minutes for us to order and it will be faster if you give us the seat & menu quicker. After we ordered the food, all came out in pretty descent time. Other staff are nice but her. The food is good & and delicious, just like in the original place. Honestly, if only for the food & and place, I could've given 5 stars. But the service that she gave us... sorry, I can't give more than 3. read more
