This is a fair review. Mimi's is definitely a cozy spot with excellent staff, but quality can be hit or miss. I've been dining at Mimi's Cafe for many years, and while it still holds a lot of cozy charm, it's definitely a mixed bag now vs. 15-20 yrs ago. It was 5 stars back then. The Positives... *Friendly Staff: The service here is consistently warm, welcoming, and accommodating. *Cozy Ambience: The restaurant provides a great, comfortable atmosphere that is particularly relaxing and ideal for older adults. Tbh I have an old soul with some social anxiety. So Mimi's became an instant fav in my 20s for the ambience alone. *Great Brunch Selections: The menu offers a fantastic variety that is perfect for breakfast or brunch. It's truly all about the brunch at Mimi's! I don't think they could ever mess up a pancake, waffle, or French toast. *The muffins: Their muffins are unbeatable! So delicious and fresh. The Downsides... *Bland Flavors: Certain classic menu items have become a bit bland and lack the rich, robust taste they had 15 to 20 years ago. *High Price Point: For the quality you receive, the prices feels a bit too high. Plus they have done away with the free bread and carrot cake baskets. Although I believe they may still give you free bread, but you'll have to ask. *Timing Affects Quality: The timing of your order matters immensely. If you order a breakfast item during evening hours, parts of it might arrive tasting old, hard, and reheated. Recommendation:It remains a wonderful place for breakfast and brunch. read more

I've been in EG for 10yrs. Went to Mimi's in the Bay Area for breakfast and it was great. Came to the EG location for lunch by chance. We tried to go to Cattleman's for lunch and discovered they don't open till 4pm. So, we decided on Mimi's on the other side of the parking lot. There were 8 people total there for lunch when we arrived. We ordered; half chicken meal, French pot roast and the trio platter with chips, the artichoke dip, chicken wings, chicken quesadillas. Trio: Chips were terribly stale, artichoke dip looked old, old, old and tasted old too. Quesadilla lacked flavor. The wings were just okay. French pot roast- Over sauces so you can't taste anything else. Half Chicken- was so old and zero flavor. I was surprised they were not embarrassed to serve us that meal. The soda was completely FLAT. We tipped the server his 20%, not his fault the food was horrid. We will never return. They might be great at just breakfast, I don't know. We took the French pot roast home, rinsed off the sauce and fed it to our dog. read more

Mimi's Cafe used to be our family's favorite place for breakfast and brunch, but unfortunately it's not the same anymore. I ordered the veggie omelet, and it was very disappointing. The vegetables inside were not cooked and tasted completely raw. It felt like eating eggs with a salad stuffed inside. The omelet was also overly wet and unappetizing. The French toast was half burnt and not enjoyable either. Overall, the food was below average, and the quality was not what we remembered from past visits. Our bill came to about $150, which made the experience even more disappointing because it simply wasn't worth the price. Sadly, this visit did not live up to the standards that made Mimi's Cafe one of our family's favorite places. read more

A group of us got together for breakfast this morning, and it was great. I had the Brioche French Toast Le Grande and it was very good. It was stuffed with an orange and cream cheese marmalade and topped with berries, and came with eggs and choice of sausage or bacon. The French toast was so moist and delicious. What a great stop for breakfast and coffee. read more

It's been a long time since we've eaten at Mimi's Cafe. We were here celebrating my brother in law's birthday. I was surprised the parking lot seemed empty. Well, to be fair, the parking lot to all the businesses in this side of the shopping center looks like a ghost town. Ample parking for sure. We were a group of ten for Sunday dinner. I ordered the French Quarter Burger without the bun with a side house salad. It was delicious! I was told the Bacon Bleu Cheese & Walnut salad was good. The Asian Chicken Salad was another hit. I was told the Jambalaya was delicious! The French Pot Roast was amazing. The Mushroom & Brie Melt was good. The Turkey Royale and the Five-Way Grilled Cheese were good. The warm bread and butter was devoured by our group FAST! The different muffins were also a hit. Especially the upside down pineapple muffins. Overall, we enjoyed our outing. A shared family meal is always a blessing. Our waitress worked hard bringing the meals and refilling the drinks. She checked in on us often. The restaurant was clean and well maintained. This Mimi's Cafe has been open since I was in high school. That's like over 20 years ago. I only went there once when it first opened and for some reason, I told my life let's go to Mini's Cafe. I got the pot pie which had a good amount of chicken. I do prefer more sauce in it. My wife got the burger which was decent. The food doesn't wow me, but it feels kind of homey. Like that feeling when Marie Callendars was still around. Are waitress was nice and attentive. I give it 3 stars, because it doesn't wow me, but it is a solid restaurant. read more

Went here for dinner with my husband one night, mainly because we were looking for a chicken pot pie. The parking lot was not full at all and there were only 3 parties inside the restaurant. The waiting area looked a bit cluttered and unorganized. We go seated quickly. I ordered the brioche burger and my husband ordered the chicken pot pie with a house salad. Came for an early dinner on the road to home and we were promptly seated and drink order taken. Service was attentive the whole time, food was as expected and all was great! The wings were a bit pricey and the same cost as the meal . I ordered a honey bran muffin to go, and they are smaller than I remember. So many Mimi's have closed that it was nice to see one still here. It was good, but nothing really great or special. I would probably pick a different place next time I'm in the area. read more

Came here with a group of 10 friends for breakfast; greeted and seated within minutes. All of us, except for 3, got coffee which was piping hot and fresh. Popular plates ordered were the Salmon Benedict, Chicken and waffles and the chorizo breakfast omelette. Everyone enjoyed their plates; I thought my omelette was ok. The chorizo was ground too fine and overcooked; I wish there was more of a chew to it, or at least have them diced. Waitress was attentive with refilling water and coffee. I ordered the seasonal boneless braised short ribs since I have been thinking about that dish but not many places have it. So I was very excited to see their ad for this seasonal menu item. Inside was quite empty but the customer service was fantastic. The waitress/hostess was so nice! Inside was nicely decorated. Very home style vibes. The food has been inconsistent every time I've come for the short ribs. Once they didn't have it but told me they did and had me wait for about 30 minutes after they took my order. A different time they gave me something completely different. Not sure what cut of meat it was but it was not tender at all & it was so tough I couldn't even cut through it with my knife. Great service from Alex. As a server myself I always appreciate the good ones. His positive attitude is contagious and I saw him very kindly dealing with a large group who split the check into a million tabs and had the nerve to rush him by standing at the table while waiting for him to run all their cards. He remained gracious and calm despite the stressful situation and immediately attended to us providing efficient service and hot/fresh food. My review is solely on their holiday menu and service. We always seem to visit for the holidays, but be sure to make a reservation! Even with a reservation, you're bound to wait. Our waits averaged from 30-40 minutes, WITH a reservation. Imagine if you don't. Whomever are the staff seating people should figure out a new strategy. Their holiday menu is pretty small, but if they offer brunch it helps with your selection. The lunch menu has big portions. We enjoyed their steak and shrimp pasta. Although we like their brunch menu better. Our server was so sweet! I wish I got her name because she deserves some recognition for being able to handle so many people during that time period, while being super nice and calm. We came for Mother's Day, and while I usually give restaurants grace on busy holidays, this experience was disappointing. The lobby was messy and covered in leaves, which wasn't a great first impression. It took about 20 minutes just to get water and place our order, and another 35-40 minutes to receive our food. I ordered the quiche and potatoes, but unfortunately, the food didn't taste fresh. What really threw me off was watching a server shake vegetables out of plastic microwaveable packaging directly onto a plate--something I've never seen in a dine-in restaurant. Throughout the meal, no one came by to refill our waters or check in on us, and after we finished eating, we waited over 20 minutes just to get the check. We stood there for a couple minutes when three servers walked by and they just kept on with whatever they were doing. That's red flag number two. After we finally got acknowledged they sat us down at a table that was half dirty. There was crumbs on the seat and crumbs on the table. there was a bunch of dead gnats on the window seals. that's red flag number three. We sat there for a while with no service so we just got up and left. Now we know why the other two major restaurants were full and they were empty. Decided to order to-go breakfast. I ordered a two-egg cornbeef hash breakfast with carrot muffin on the side. Not my typical breakfast order but I felt like some cornbeef hash. Least to say, I was disappointed. My "plate" container was very skimpy that I thought I didnt even receive any corn beef hash. I moved potatoes around and found maybe a spoon full of corn beef hash. A bit frustrating because I usually like breakfast here when I dine-in. For the price I pay $19.22, I expect my to-go meals to be the exact same as if I were to sit in the restaurant. If you're going to give me half the entree, charge me half the price. But of course, that will never be the case. Not sure if I'd order breakfast to-go again. We'll see. On a positive note, my order was ready and on-time. The service was slow in acknowledging me but was friendly. So my suggestion, Mimi's, I think you need to re-evaluate how you send out your orders to-go since more restaurants will be opening up in EG in the near future, you will have to compete for patrons. Is been a long time since I've been to Mimi's so we decided to give it a try for breakfast. We were welcomed and sat promptly. It was pretty empty when we arrived. The inside reminded me of a cottage. Service was pretty good and pleasant in the beginning with the ordering of our drinks and food but didn't remain the same. My coffee was cold and I couldn't find her to ask for a hot coffee... when our food arrived, they added hot coffee to my cold coffee. They don't offer flavored creamer. I did enjoy the blueberry muffin that came prior to my food. It was a warm and fluffy muffin. My omelette was pretty good as well as the potatoes. It took about 50 minutes for my wife and I to get our food and when we finally got it, it was not fresh. It seemed like it was sitting under a heat lamp for a while. Our food was just warm- not hot as if it was just done being cooked. My wife ordered some crepes and I ordered the crab cakes eggs benedict. My crab cakes were not good because they messed up on the eggs, so it was disappointing. I will not get the eggs benedict again. At the end of it all, the waiter Robert dropped silverware into my wife's pumpkin latte, which splashed all on the table and on her. He gave us a muffin for compensation, so that was nice. read more

My guest had the fish and chips but preferred a small salad to French fries - the fries substitution surprisingly was an additional fee but I paid it. The fish pieces looked small. The waiter seemed a little overwhelmed during the lunch hour as my water glass was empty for a while before I could request a refill, and without asking about dessert he gave us our bill. I requested a dessert menu (which was slim) and after dessert received a separate bill (usually the tab is usually reworked). These minor issues wouldn't stop me from returning. read more

This place was nice, with friendly staff and good food. Good customer service skills and booths were a decent size for us two to sit. And they have lots of space for parking. The restaurant was a little older but clean. We had a flight of mimosas with an extra champagne bottle on the side. It's the right way to drink. They are really small bottles so it balances out. The food was really good. No complaints. I had the smoked salmon Benedict. The waitress was attentive and didn't wait too long between tables to check on us and see if we needed anything.
