The place was small and casual, but cold as they didn't seem to have the heater on even though it was snowing outside. The bathrooms were clean and actually warm though. The food was good. We had the mole enchiladas, the nachos, the shrimp tostado, the lamb burger and the pork belly tacos. We were not a fan of the sweet potato fries as they were mushy and bland. The best thing though was the banana and coconut cream pie. It was amazing! The sodas were cans so no refills or ice. Tune Up was a pretty flavorful joint for brunch! I really liked their cappuccino, it was well made and just the right amount of sweet and flavorful. The breakfast meals were also phenomenal, full of flavor and just delicious. But... Yelp... there is a star of the show here and it's none of the above. The star here is the Tres Leches cake... Hands down the best I've ever had. I was absolutely not expecting it to be as good as it was, but wow, wow, wow. I'll be thinking about that cake for long, long time. From the moment we walked in and were greeted with a welcoming smile, service was friendly and prompt. I went there thinking I would have one of their delicious burgers, but after seeing the pizzas the next table over ordered, i ordered the basil-pesto with red peppers, goat cheese, spinach and mushrooms (left out the chilis). Wonderful! Had to take half home because boyfriend and I split the fried calamari appetizer. Very good! Lightly breaded and served with a nice red sauce. Boyfriend had the vegetarian burger (brown rice nut), with a side salad which he enjoyed as well. To end the meal we split a fruit cobbler served with vanilla ice cream! Delicious! Went here with a party of 15 on a work trip. Didn't know how small and intimate the place was. We all were expecting super slow service and would be there for 3 hours. They've got a ridiculous amount of options. Entrees, drinks, deserts.... As we were seated, tons of obvious locals coming in and it was dang busy IMO for a Thursday night. Anyway, service was great and we were in and out, all 15, in just over an hour. Every person was very pleased which their food! My unfinished review was a 5-star. Going with 3 stars after our dinner last night (2/1/25). This place is hit or miss. Saturday night was a miss. We were there before the 20 minute rush that they used as an excuse for slack service. 20 minutes after the rush almost all tables in the front room were empty, so not really a rush at all. Service - Server was nice and all, but inattentive and slow. They appeared overwhelmed, but then we watched all of the servers/ back-of-house socialize and play on their phones. Nobody came to ask if we wanted more drinks or how the food was. We were right in front of the cash register, but felt invisible. Food - Salmon tacos: totally unimpressive. Not bad, but not very good either. Not recommended. - Green Chile Cheeseburger: WAY undercooked. Medium was raw. Servers were too distracted by their phones to get their attention to inform them of the poor cooking job. Chile had no flavor and no heat, at all. Bun was a dry, crumbly disaster. Meat was flavorless. I guess they only care about serving a quality meal if you geta high priced entrée. We came here specifically to try the green chile cheeseburger, and this one was among the worst found in the state. We've had some great brunches and lunches at Tune-up, but will probably never go back. Shame because we have a home a mile away. I'll drive to Albuquerque for a GCCB before I go here again. Sadly, I can no longer recommend Tune-up, which I've been recommending to friends for a couple years now. read more

The great reviews brought us here. But our experience was different. The good thing is that this place has parking in the front and back, along with street parking. This is more like a canteen style restaurant; you order, pay for it, then you get a number and the staff will bring you your food. There were seatings indoors and outdoors. Both were beautifully decorated with colorful lights. When ordering, the lady taking orders had a very strong accent, and she was speaking very fast so i couldn't understand half the things she was saying. It was very frustrating. Wow. The duck hash breakfast is one of the most delicious meals I have ever eaten. Seriously, just wow. Tender lean chunks of duck atop a thin crispy hash brown layer with caramelized onions and peppers. Topped with two eggs cooked your way and red (ancho) or green sauce on the side. (The red pairs perfectly with the duck.) Honestly, I cannot recall a better breakfast. I am ruined for anything else on their menu. Well, except for a slice of one of their delectable desserts. The food and service here were amazing!!! Even though our party of 6 walked in during a busy time, about 7 pm during holiday season, we were seated within a few minutes. My nachos were the best I've ever had - crisp, crunchy, thick tortilla chips with no salt added, refried beans, fantastic grilled chicken, and spicy salsa on the side - with plenty of melted cheese. The portion was not small but I wished I had more!!! Everyone else also loved their food and the kids really enjoyed their spaghetti and meatballs, from the specials board. Delicious food; fun/laid back ambience; friendly staff. We are visiting from CA, and I loved the green chili beef stew--nice medium spice level and felt like comfort food with a kick. Pupusas were tasty, but reminded me more of a cross between the pupusas I'm used to in CA and fry bread--a satisfying crunch, though! Fried bananas were literally fried bananas (not maduras/fried plantains), but they were gooood and complemented the pupusa. My friend liked the tamale but thought it was unusual that both the tamale and the pupusa had corn. I liked the corn, though! My friend enjoyed her cider: light and refreshing. My friend also liked the chocolate cake with fruit. It was a laid back, eclectic vibe with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. We were able to choose a seat right when we arrived on a Sunday at 6pm. Staff patiently explained some dishes to us when we were deciding what to order. They let us sit there and relax more than 2 hours. I would definitely recommend this spot and come back on my next visit! read more

Amazing food! Great prices and friendly staff. This was hands down our favorite place to eat at during our time in NM. We spent less than $30 for a chai tea, latte, and two main dishes -- a breakfast burrito and a steak and eggs plate. The breakfast burrito had Christmas sauce inside and also house potatoes, eggs, cheese and avocado. The burrito itself could have used more avocado but the Chile was really good and complemented the eggs and cheese. The eggs itself were scrambled and could have had more flavor. The steak and eggs were wonderful - the meat marinated well and soft. The star of the show were the hash browns, which were prepared with chives and had a lot of flavor more than other hash browns. They could have been crispier, however. The latte was solid and the chai was also good - however, the chai could have used more sugar (it was hardly sweet and seemed like no sugar was added at all). The menu here is huge and the set-up is wonderful - you order at the front and then sit and wait for your food to be brought - it took about 10 minutes for us to get our food. Other great food is available for sure but this is such an outstanding option there really is no choice until you have had three orders. The environment is very casual and comfortable. Feels like a typical cafe with a solid dessert selection. They actually have a small bar area to complement their lunch and dinner crowd. The service is solid and friendly. The café features an impressive menu with everything from oysters, fish dishes, enchiladas, salads, burgers, as well as their specialty: papusas. Their beer and dessert menu is extensive, too. My Mole Colorado Enchiladas was nice and certainly reasonably priced at $15.95, which included a fresh side Caesar salad. Friends enjoyed the papusas, a salmon special and various salads. Unfortunately, our waiter was distracted and it took a long time for our order to be served. The appetizer we ordered showed-up half way through our main meal. Getting refills on drinks was a challenge, too. While the café does a good job of encouraging masks for Covid-19 protection, the seating on the front patio is so packed, it is hard to maintain safe distancing. read more

Holey delicious Salvadoran breakfast Batman! This place really surprised us. I loved our early morning patio dining experience here. We ate a hot and yummy Salvadoran breakfast served with tasty coffee (w. real cream!). I don't remember the names of what we ordered, but I'll never forget absolutely loving it. Both dishes had layered flavors, complimentary textures, and I made all the happy noises. Service was prompt and the staff was kind. It was my first time here, and i thought the food probably tasted like Mexican (I like Mexican). I was wrong! I ordered the El Salvadorian combo, and I found that it was nothing like Mexican. It was very flavorful and well presented. Others ordered Chicken Piccada, which was also very tender and tasty, served with garlic mashed potatoes. The house salad was pleasantly seasoned and tasty except it had a small broken plastic, which was unfortunate (yes, the restaurant took off one item from the bill). My husband loved his watermelon salad too. I've never had a Chile relleno this good. So mild with a crunchy broiled cheese on top. The flavors of the pepper are incredible. And that stew had that homemade depth of flavor. Service was great! I wish I could eat more and try their specials. It all sounds so good. We're visiting from out of town and this has been a highlight of our trip. We love the food scene when we travel. The pork belly tacos were super flavorful. I like how the tacos skins were grilled so it's a bit crunchy and soft as the same time Pupusas were not traditional but were very good and tasty . Banana leaf tamales was a little wet compared to what I used to have but it was indeed delicious. The girl at the cashier was happy and nice and helpful.. We felt so welcome ! My wife ordered Salmon Tacos and was not impressed - not much flavor, expected grilled but maybe that was her error. I had the Tune Up Burger with fries which was large but nothing special, though a decent deal for $9.95. Ambiance was friendly kitsch with colorful lighted globes, and the restaurant is in a residential neighborhood. Perhaps if we visit again we need to order different entrees. read more

Started off poorly as the lady who took the order seemed very unhappy to be part of this planet. We ordered the Salvadoran Huevos and standard huevos rancheros for me. My dish was so darn good. Tortilla, green chili, beans and two over easy layered in a bowl. Piping hot and taste was dialed, but especially with a little extra hot sauce. Coffee was average but I didn't even care that much. When I grabbed a coffee refill, a different lady was up there and she brightened the room with her personality. May want to keep her up there permanent. read more
