Ted is as honorable a mechanic as one can hope for. I brought in my '99 Porsche 996 for two problems each of which could have cost me hundreds of dollars and I'd have been none-the-wiser. Ted diagnosed one problem as a leaking cap and one he diagnosed as "pilot error"; very low cost on one, no cost on the other. He's as competent and honest a mechanic as there is in Orange County for high-performance cars. This recommendation is 5-star, unqualified. If your car is under factory warranty, then good on you. If it's a BMW, Porsche, Merc, or high performance anything that's not covered by the stealer, er, dealer, then Ted's your guy. read more

I found out that Turbo Ted services vehicles for several local European car dealers. I also read great reviews for Turbo Ted on BMW forums so I decided to take my E60 here when it needed the brake fluid flush. This is by far the best BMW mechanic in OC. It was 100x better than going to the dealer for service. Turbo Ted was honest, knowledgeable, and informative. He isn't out to scam customers or recommend services just to make an extra buck. The prices are very reasonable. I made an appointment and was done within an hour. WOW!!!!! These guys are awesome. I was fully prepared to drop $1800 on a new steering rack, :( I got a call while doing some charity work and it was TED telling me that I didn't need a whole new steering rack but just some lower control arm bushings. I do a lot of my own work on my car so having to handover $$$$ for a new steering rack was not exciting. So the money I saved I was able to purchase new tires from a shop Ted recommended to me, which was much needed. The best part was if I replaced the steering rack it would not have fixed the problem. Just received a vehicle from this guys shop and he did a front brake job on it. He installed the disc brake pads backwards and caused the brake rotors to turn blue.Everyone is entitled to make a mistake but when I pointed it out to him he became arrogant and didn't want to hear it. Absolutely love this establishment, Ted and his son! After going to a competitor and getting an outrageous quote I stopped by Turbo Ted to get a second opinion. They value honestly and after talking a bit I handed over the previous quote.Ted said 'just because my son does good work doesn't mean I'm going to charge you outrageous amounts for labor.' He quoted it at half the price of the other place, had a worker run down to Sterling to pick up a part for my car and fixed it right then and there on a Friday afternoon so I could drive it over the weekend. This shows how trusting they are. If they were anything but honest he could have quoted me a few hundred under what the other place did and still got my business. Rude I'm not sure if he does good work or not but my initial contact with him says NO Way! Who answers a business phone saying "yeah"? After I asked if it was Turbo Ted I told him I had a OBD scanner and didn't know how to fix my car. You would assume a good mechanic would say "come on in and let's find out what's wrong with your car." In his rude way He said he's not in the business of being a diagnostic shop and that he would go out of business. He then said he would only work on my car if he could repair it. I usually don't approve a repair before its diagnosed. Common sense right! He was very rude and demeaning in his tone.There is no way I would put my car in the hands of an uncaring mechanic.
