The food is delicious and so tasty, the service is great also, we ordered chicken tikka Masala, lamb korma, samosas, Dahl , Raita and garlic Nan. Every bite my Boyfriend and I put in our mouth was just a explosion of flavor , we couldn't decide which of the dishes was best. We are both very picky with Indian food, but this place didn't disappoint, definitely became one of our favorites and we will visit this place often . Been waiting for this place to open up and finally saw them open their doors in December. Ordered a chicken biryani and a plain naan to kick things off. Side note: their site allows you to place orders. We generally are doubtful about biryani that has peas in it, but after all these years, we have gotten to the fact not every biryani is Hyderabadi dum style. The aroma of the tandoor was awesome, though the naan became ever so slightly soggy after being wrapped in aluminum foil. The Biryani was ordered at medium spicy, but had a nice kick to it even at that level. The rice was soft and flavorful. Chicken was well cooked and overall, we'd give a 4.5/5. We will definitely return, if not for the food, for the fact that this is the closest Indian food place for Oceanside residents. I think most non-Indian folks might do well with mild spicy level. read more

This is the best Indian food I have had in a long time. They use quality spices and spend the time making sure their food is prepared right. Everything tastes so flavorful and amazing. I got the Chicken Tikka Masala 3-4 spice level and I went to heaven. They also have fresh deserts and pastries. There is also a buffet here from 11am till 2pm on Saturday and Sunday. Tried Indian Food for the first time yesterday, and let's just say I'm hooked. Been wanting to try this place for a a while ever since I found out how close it was to home. As soon as I walked in, I felt the good energy and was met by the most delicious smells. We ordered the samosas, garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, the chicken briyani, and my husband tried the masala chai. Everything was perfection. When the sweet lady brought the garlic naan to the table, my nose hairs did a happy dance. It was melt in your mouth level delicious! For me, the standout was the chicken tikka masala. The sauce was flavorful and delectable. If we weren't in public I would've licked the sauce off my plate. Cannot recommend this place enough. read more

My wife and I have a "go-to" Indian take out place that we have been loyal to for 14+ years. The only down side is that it is all the way down in Sorrento Valley. We've always said it is worth the trip because the food is just that good and we have always been disappointed when we've gone elsewhere for our "Indian food fix". That is until we tried Turmeric Hut. We were both very impressed with the depth of their menu as well as the execution of the dishes. I read some of the reviews regarding speed of service and was prepared to wait if necessary (giving additional consideration to the fact this is a start-up business in the midst of a global pandemic). However, there was no reason for concern as the service was exceptional. We ordered via their well designed website that allowed us to pay in advance and gave us an exact pick-up time that was 20 minutes out (which is very reasonable). Upon arrival, the food was ready to go and the woman that helped me was both polite and gracious. Why only 4 stars as opposed to 5? I felt I had to dock them a point for poor execution on their naan. Admittedly, I am a naan snob. Such an important part of the experience is using the naan to soak up the delicious sauces and spices. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt because pictures posted by other patrons showed naan that did not resemble what I was served. In fact what I was given looked almost exactly like that terrible Boboli pizza crust sold in grocery stores. Perhaps the naan guy was having an off night. We will still remain loyal to our favorite Indian spot in Sorrento Valley, but Turmeric Hut has definitely earned our business when we just don't want to make the pilgrimage but still really want solid Indian food. read more

Today was my third visit, and I can imagine many subsequent visits to come. I am very familiar with the Madras Chicken (at Spice Level 1/10), Basmati, Rice, and the Garlic Naan. All wonderful and of proper portions. I picked up a mango smoothie to have afterwards, and it was also very good and refreshing. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. I would say the prices are up-to-date and reasonable. They accept credit cards. This restaurant is more focused on food than the Internet, so there may be a discrepancy on opening hours which turned away one miffed young man just a little before noon. Personally, I am happy to wait for the staff to be perfectly ready. It was definitely worth the wait. read more

I've been a Turmeric Hut customer since it first opened. It is a culinary home away from home. The food is always fresh, delicious, and authentic, with a warm atmosphere thanks to the gracious owner (Priya) and her staff. Whenever my family or friends visit from out of town, I invite them for a meal at Turmeric Hut to showcase one of Oceanside's greatest restaurants. I have heard only praise for the cuisine. I am not in the habit of rushing anyone preparing, what equates to, a home cooked meal. Therefore, the "wait time" has never been an issue. We've been here four times now, and it's quickly become one of our local favorites. After trying a few dishes, we've settled into consistently ordering the Vegetable Samosas (fantastic veggie pastries full of flavor, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside), the cheese naan (soft and chewy, with a subtle cheese flavor), butter chicken (our top dish, it's stupendous), and the chicken tikka masala. Service is very friendly, the dishes are on the pricier side, but the quality and amount of food easily makes it worth it to me. I called in my order and they told me it would take 45 minutes. I showed up to pick my order up 60 minutes later. When I showed up the rang me up and the told me it would be another 10 minutes. I waited there another 45 minutes for my food.... The food is great! I loved the Chicken Curry especially with the Garlic Naan bread. I wish the portions where a bit larger, but the food really is great. Although I had to wait for my food almost an hour they told me it would be ready, I don't want to give them a bad rating yet. The first time I went there it took a while but not this long, so I'm just hoping they are going through growing pains. It's a small mom and pops restaurant and I hope they can succeed. I've gone here several times and sometimes it is good, but the quality is inconsistent. Expect long wait times, even if there are not many people. Sometimes the servers are kinda rude. Last time I went, I had the goat curry with veggie pakora and mango lassi. The goat was so chewy that it was inedible. The pakora was good but not much to be excited about. My daughter and I lived in San Diego (Mission Hills area) where they have a great selection of Indian food. We found Turmeric Hut here on Yelp. We arrived about 45 minutes to close, and usually if it is that close to closing, restaurants turn you away or you get attitude. They welcomed us in and insisted we sit down. I said we were okay to take it to go, but the woman was so nice and we decided to stay and eat in. Their food is amazing, and they treated us like family. I hate to leave a poor review for anyone but my attempts to communicate to the owner that the food was not good was met with distraction. When it first opened after what seemed like forever in anticipation with paper over the windows the food was excellent. At the weekend buffet the food was just bad. My parents had warned me the place had taken a turn for the worse food wise but the watery buffet was too much. All you can eat bad food is not appealing. It repeated on me for the rest of the day and I take medication that lets me eat anything without heartburn. I can't express enough how disappointed I am in this place. read more
