Heard about Enker from a local Gujrati friend and decided to try it out. Tries Samosa, dhokla, khaman, and methi thepla. All items were excellent and very edible in terms of spice level. While we waited, many people came in for large orders of Khandvi, Dhokla, Khaman and Samosas. The person on the register was fast and efficient. The line moved quick despite the high volume. Overall, this place seemed like a reliable option for tea and snack time items for a few guests or a whole party. We did not try any dinner items but could tell from the aroma that things were being made fresh. Most options around tri-Valley cater to Telugu population and are intolerably spicy for average western-Indian palate. This is one of the few places that can satiate the foodies who enjoy good flavors but not the heat. We hope that Enker can keep the same mild spice level, excellent flavors and loyal customers. read more

Amazing small restaurant for Gujrati food and your daily roti requiremtns. They serve one of the best dhokla in Bay Area. Highly recommend.

We had Enker Foods cater Indian food for an event for over 150 people. Communicating with the owner herself, Jayaben, long-distance was very easy. We received prompt attention throughtout the process. On the delivery date, the delivery was on time, however, of the more than a dozen items, the restaurant staff had missed sending one item. NO PROBLEM! The delivering person immediately went back and brought the missing item. The food deliverered, mostly Gujarati style, was delicious, the quantity was more than adequate, and our guests raved about the taste. We recommend Enker Food for any Indian event. read more

Picked up samosas and rotis from here. Looks like a nice family-owned spot that serves up yummy food. The samosas were really good. Fresh, not overwhelmingly spicy like most spots and they were a hit with the group and went fast. The rotis were fresh and tasty as well. read more

hesitant to give a low score just because it's a family-run place and the workers and such are very nice. Keep in mind everything is made desi spicy. Wife and I shared dahi puri and some other chaat- it was all excellent but just a little spicy. There are also some fun finds in the store here, and excelent mangoes. Enker Food and Pharmacy sells Northern Indian food and groceries. didn't see any pharmacy. one table available for dine in. menu: vegetarian. didn't peruse. went for the daily thali (combo) eats: thali (8 items, 9.99) -food either premade or made to order. -everything tasted fresh after an 1/2 hour drive. (not roti, cooled...) -the roti looked like naan, this is the indian flatbread version. -had bhindl (okra) masala, chana (chickpea) masala, samosa, rice, gulab juman, mango lassi, dal (lentil) soup, -rose syrup with gulab juman made a nice sauce to eat with rice. 4.5 stars every item was carefully packaged. no intermingling of flavors. read more

4/8/2022: Upon the countless road trips visiting my Mother who resided in SF Bay Area, this is one place on my bucket list I knew I must visit! En route to Placerville, I stopped by knowing I needed purchasing rice; I decided buying the rice at Enker's. Outside Enker's, on display were so many fruit tree varieties for sale never seen at any Placerville/Tri-Counties' nurseries: Furthermore, I was visually stunned and deeply impressed by seeing first-hand exotic, fruit trees I haven't seen anywhere in USA except, the countries I've visited in the past! I will return purchasing bare-root fruit trees this coming fall 2022. read more

My family loves plants so we decided to drop by this place after seeing ads for the plants they sell here. The store sells Indian groceries, exotic fruits, exotic plants, and Indian food. We got a couple of sapodilla to take home and eat as well as some Indian dishes. The dishes were all very good but my favorite was the samosa. I love Indian samosa and this place made it very good! The owner of the store was very friendly and helpful. He made sure that we picked good fruit and also recommended us what dishes to order. read more

They get their breads right - rotis, pooris, theplas. The hot theplas are addictive. The fresh patra and khaman dhokla are decent. Highly recommend their piping hot chai and methi gota (with that very spicy green chutney) on a cold, rainy day. I appreciate that they make the food very fresh. It is piping hot as it comes out. Perhaps it is their hired cook on some days, but what did not work for me were their fresh curries. The chole had no salt. Undhiyu and chora nu shaak were super greasy. The only place that I know where you get fresh sugarcane juice. Inexpensive place for vegetarian food. I see myself going back for their rotis, theplas, chai, and methi gota. read more

Undhiyu is terrible - it had more oil than a pakistani restaurant curry ! Completely floating in oil and the dumplings were hard as rock - had to throw them away ! Patras were burnt ! Their groceries are stale and more expensive than other stores and plants are super expensive ! read more

Sugar cane juice on a hot summer day! I've only had fresh sugar cane juice in Singapore and Hawaii. What a treat to find a place in San Ramon that makes it. They press the cane and pour it fresh. You have two options. You can get just the juice or sugar cane juice with fresh lemon and ginger, which won't turn dark after it's oxidized (but you'll probably drink it before that happens). We had both and both were amazing! The owner explained there's more sugar in a can of soda than in one cup of pure sugar cane. It is served at room temperature. We happened to have ice water in the car, so we just put some ice in our juices and they were that much better. I'm excited to try their food next time. It was my husband's birthday earlier this week and he was craving his favorite food - Undhiyu, Shrikhand and Puri. Undhiyu is a traditional recipe from the state of Gujarat in India. We live in the Contra Costa County and would normally need to travel to the South Bay area to get some good Gujarati Food. But thanks to Enker Food and Pharmacy, we don't need to go any further from now on. We got Puris, Shrikhand and the Surti Undhiyu for dinner. The PURI (deep flat fried bread) was soft and puffed to a lightly-crisp golden-brown perfection. The SHRIKHAND was silky smooth and not overly sweet. And SURTI UNDHIYU was simply delicious. We also got a pack of THEPLAS (5 pcs). They were fresh and lightly spiced. The portion sizes were just perfect. The food was so close to what we ate back home. We would definitely be going back for more in the future. read more

This place is awesome. It's a small inconspicuous location that is owned and operated by a nice family. Despite the small location they have a lot to offer. This review is for the food. They have outstanding fresh made vegetarian and vegan Indian food items that make for an excellent grab and go option for lunch. The "daily Thalli" comes with 8 items and was absolutely delicious. This is a hidden gem that I am glad to have found. They also carry groceries there is a pharmacy and they even sell hard to find edible plants and fruit trees. read more

This is a very very special store. Might be the only place in Northern California selling such a wide variety of tropical fruit trees (many grafted or air layered too!). He had mango, sugar apple, longan, and many other trees only available for sale in southern california. The fresh tropical fruits available are top quality, and very hard to find. I got a chai Masala and sugar cane juice, both were amazing, but didn't try the hot food, though it looked very good. read more

I am writing this review for the Enker Nursery. I went on a weekend AM so didn't get to try the food. On weekends, don't expect food before noon. Just fyi. Great selection of plants. Those Mulberry Trees with ripe, sweet mulberries. Aaargh! If only I had a truck. They have a great select of grafted mango (alphonso), guava, arabian jasmine, curry leaf etc. I got a great deal on a mature passion fruit plant, bay leaf plant, night jasmine and curry leaf. Note to the reader: if you don't like the price, don't buy it. It is that simple. Would I pay 399$ for a mature, fruiting, 7-8' Mulberry tree? Darn right I would. Would I do the same for the Alphonso Mango plant? Umm. No, because I don't trust the weather. read more

I had a take out recently for dinner. I asked what is available, was told chana masala and veg kolhapuri. When i went to the website, realized both were part of their lunch menu. They charged close to $9 each for take out, i could see they were reheated and boxed - the chana masala is all mashed up and soft. If the order is not prepared fresh why are you charging so much? The panneer item was made fresh and is done well - well worth the $9 The rotis are freshly made and done nice. If you order directly from them, for pick up, please note that you have to listen to the entire (long) recorded message and then will be put through to the store. We went to check out their plants that are advertised on Nextdoor. We met the son of the owner, great young man in his early teens. I had some questions about the plants and initially I was going to google them but the young man had all the answers to all my questions! All the reviews had made me very excited about them. I placed order over the phone. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Really appreciate that. This is a small place in a strip mall. The grocery store has some usual and few uncommon items. The food was ready 10 minutes later than promised, but that's ok. The young man at counter had presence of mind and was very attentive. Food on the other hand was total disappointment. Undhiyu lacked flavors. Shreekhand wasn't sweat enough. Daal was really good. Kadhi was a total miss. Packaging could have been better, there was some spill over in the bag. Overall, not a retake for us. read more
