Yummmmy!!! I spent at least 10 minutes looking at the menu deciding what to choose because every option looks delightful. It's the perfect place for a sweet treat on the beach, the vibes are immaculate. -1star because they charge $1 to flip the cone into a cup, I feel like it's too big for one person so sharing in a cup is the only way for me to eat it.
Located on the boardwalk, this spot has a bunch of delicious treats. I definitely suggest you check it out. - The Collins are unique and fluffy. In addition to being tasty, the cone is well adored with extras such as chocolate sauce, and cookie crumbles. - I appreciate that the item is served with a wooden spoon... Much better than plastic.
ICE CREAM, you scream, we all scream for chimney cake ice cream! Finally hopped on this chimney cake trend, and it's 100% the cone for me when it comes to my ice cream. With buttery, soft and chewy layers encrusted in sugar crystals that remind me of a super pillowy donut, these chimney cake cones are the perfect decadent addition to your soft serve or gelato. You can find this scrumptious, freshly made Czech dessert speciality (as well as ice cream, gelatos and shakes) at @turndough , the first chimney cake shop in LA! I've probably walked by this little hidden gem of an ice cream shop a million times on Santa Monica/Venice boardwalk, and I would highly recommend stopping by on a hot day to get a refreshing sweet treat that is lovingly made fresh to order! I am always looking for a yummy soft serve. Turn Dough was beyond that and more. I had the soft serve with pistachio and honey inside a churro cone. It was soooo good, but a big portion for more than I can handle. I suggest sharing it with someone. My son had the Strawberry shake which he of course raved about. It was a nice treat to end the evening walk at Venice Beach. It's a stall on the strand so if you're out walking, this would be a nice treat to have. Keep in mind that it is on the strand so you will have to pay for parking around the corner or at any of the parking lots near by. The service was on point. Thank you D for your kind hospitality and being patient as we looked through the menu. Thank you also for the recommendation.
So bright! It's hard to miss! I was craving soft serve while skating on the beach trail and this place caught my eye. It's a big pop of color with a side seating area. The portions here are pretty large, I was barely able to finish my ice cream even though I ordered the smallest thing on the menu. I had so many questions about how I was able to customize my order. The lady on the cash register was very kind and patient answering all my questions. I got soft serve in a cup with recess pieces. So milky and creamy, definitely hit the spot!
Turn Dough is at Venice Beach, and their logo will draw you in to see what they're about! The employee was helpful and answered all my questions to help me make the best choice. I ordered the baked cinnamon cone, vanilla bean, with a Captain Crunch and fruity pebble mix on top. It was really fun to eat while watching the skateboarder on the beach!
4th of July/2023: After enjoying a fun event on Venice Beach Boardwalk, on an incredibly sunny day, my friend & I were craving something cold & yummy to cool down; Turn Dough hit the spot! Matcha Kit Kat: Yummy vanilla bean Gelato with pretty much Matcha everything, including organic row matcha powder, matcha Kit Kat bar(Yum!) & matcha syrup! I enjoyed every single spoonful! Loved the flavors! Chimney Cone: Firm, placed in a cup, along w/a pretty Pink Spoon, which I'm grateful for; sunny day...it became a bit messy! Incredibly happy they gave me two wet Hand Wipes, because they definitely came in handy! While the cone was tasty, next time I'll try another flavor in just a cup! Maybe another flavor goes better with the Chimney Cone...hmmm! Location: Right on Oceanfront Walk, along the Venice Beach Boardwalk, in the heart of Venice Beach, where all of the action is! Overall: Friendly customer service, excellent location, grateful I can easily walk over, enjoyed the Matcha flavors, so I'll definitely return & try more flavors...in a cup! Also, willing to possibly try the chimney cone with a chocolate flavor!
Came here for dessert. The portion is huge so we got the artisan gelato Nutella bowl to share. The base was vanilla ice cream. The ice cream is pretty average but what made it good was the amount of toppings they mixed with the Ice cream. There was a good amount of chocolate, Nutella, strawberries, and kindered bueno so that every bite was delicious. They have so many options. Looking forward to returning to try their other flavors. Hard to find street parking but they have paid parking lots ($10) just steps away. The parking attendant was nice enough to allow us to park for free while we quickly ordered our ice cream.
We came here craving ice cream on a Friday night in Venice. It's located right in the area where there are a lot of restaurant and shops all facing the water. I ordered the brownie flavor in the cinnamon cone and it was about $13 pre-tip. It came with 2 brownie pieces and a good amount of chocolate drizzle with a base of vanilla soft serve. The cone was smaller than I anticipated, other pictures showed the cone being visible outside the cup but mine was smaller than the size of the cup. They gave us wet wipes to clean up afterwards, which was appreciated. Overall a bit pricy but expected for a beachfront ice cream stand.

We MADE IT!!! Brought my foodie girl friend to this World Famous Chimney Cakes with Ice Cream shop located in Venice Beach, and we are so impressed with their customer service and the delicious icy treats. Their cones and ice cream are handcrafted daily from scratch. Street parking is available but it might be crowded on the weekends, this shop is walking distance to the beach so the views are STUNNING. The girl who introduces the menu and helps us order is SUPER helpful and she is very sweet and friendly. What an amazing experience!!! Matcha Milkshakes | $11.90 -- very smooth texture, well blended matcha powder with the handcrafted vanilla ice cream, topped with matcha wafer candies. Ferrero Rocher Ice Cream Cone | $13.90 -- surprisingly it's not too sweet and pretty organic taste. Creamy soft serve topped with three Ferrero Rocher chocolate. Quite a nice summer icy treat at the beach. LA foodies!! What are you waiting for!!!!

This is one of those little places I would absolutely recommend a friend check out if they were in the area. It's a really small, quite literal, hole in the wall. The menu is pretty expansive with a bunch of ice cream cones and milkshakes. I wish it wasn't so expensive but I'm not at all shocked considering the location. One of the best milk shakes I've ever gotten and super instagram worthy. read more

Wow what a treat I had never heard of this type of dessert before and as I am a cinnamon roll fan this cone was right up my alley! I brought my daughter along and of course she wanted to eat the unicorn, my first reaction was that I wouldn't enjoy the hard candies on it but instead I was pleasantly surprised with the round pieces. If it weren't for my kid I would have had a hard time making a decision for what to get. When I heard it had Nutella in the cone I was a little freaked out it would be too much but it wasn't it was the perfect amount layered between the cone and cream. The employees were lovely and the work the girl did on the cone was like watching art be constructed. For the people complaining about how long it takes, just stop. How cool is it you get something freshly made to order like this! Warm and yummy with that delicious vanilla as well. And for those complaining about the price? This is a special treat and it's the boardwalk jeez, even Ben and Jerry's is like $8 for a scoop get over it lol. Next time I will try the shake with a CBD add on, I love that they offer CBD sodas as well. The location couldn't be more perfect for a treat such as this. I've been stalking this place for a while but avoided it because it's in the heart of a tourist trap areas. It was incredibly expensive for a place that doesn't churn scratch, homemade ice cream and definitely is more geared towards Insta hype/ food p*rn. It was $15 for this plain cone with a water. The chimney cake itself was good in my opinion, but my partner didn't agree. It has a cinnamon, spicy citrus flavor to it... think Swedish buns but less buttery and more spice. Wish I could order that by itself, but then again if I'm spending around $15, I'd prefer to visit a legit pastry shop. The soft serve was the most disappointing part. It was bland and had high water content which means they skimp on the cream. Because of this, it was melting as soon as it was handed to us. You can see it in the photo. Someone else described it as "milk" flavor and I would agree. Not really much vanilla and way too sweet. We dumped out the ice cream and I finished the cone by myself. I saw this as one of the main go to places for ice cream with a flare and to be honest I felt a little underwhelmed. Could have been the item I ordered, or the fact I was expecting a nice vanilla velvet soft served taste from the ice cream that I just didn't get. Not to mention the price was pretty steep for the size of ice cream cup I received. We walked up, to this cute decorative place with so many options to choose from. There's some thing there for everyone! From ice cream sundaes, milkshakes, and more. I stood to the side for about 7 minutes before I finally decided on what I wanted. When I checked in I received a $3 off coupon. When I tried to present it to the cashier she immediately responded that the coupon was for a different location but I informed her that I got the coupon when I checked into that exact location and she still was hesitant. She went so much as to check in on her phone herself to see if I was right and I feel that was a bit much but it is what it is. I got the captain crunch ice cream that had vanilla ice cream topped with captain crunch and fruity pebbles and drizzled with caramel. My sister got the vanilla cup with Twix and cookie dough. It was good, just not the GREAT I was expecting. Not sure if I would go back or try something different like the milkshakes they are known for. read more

Was in the mood for ice cream and Venice boardwalk was a great place to get it. The cinnamon cone was intriguing and I love Reese's. Topped it off with a peanut butter cup on top. Enjoyed my ice cream while getting a tan 2 thumbs up. read more
Concept is interesting - ice cream inside a baked cinnamon come(which is unlike a churro in that a churro is fried, thank you to the owner for clarifying). However for the price point I would probably reconsider ordering. The cone was sugared properly but did not taste fresh - despite their claim. It's really difficult to eat by hand and on the go as you need to break the cone apart with your fingers but the Nutella on the inside made it worth it. They do give out wet wipes for free so that's a + If you're willing to pay the $7+ price point for a ice cream scoop and a baked sugary cone then this is your spot. Makes for a good photo op with the beach in the background though! This place is located on Venice Boardwalk so parking would be best found on the side streets, metered with 2 hour limit. read more

So trendy! I really liked it. I gave it 4 stars bc the soft serve melts really fast and makes the cone cold and chewy. Also... it's on the expensive side, $10 for a cone. But again, it's super cute and definitely a nice tourist attraction and makes cute photos! read more

It was my first Turn Dough experience and my stomach was very pleased. After bicycling for 29+ml the Smores Ice Cream was exactly what I've needed. There is so many ice cream places in the area but Turn Dough is something very different and worth trying. I'll definitely be back with my daughters (they watched my IG story and wished they were there today, but with such an awesome and sparkling selection, we will be back soon) P.S. costumer service is on point!!! read more

Customer service = excellent Chance of your ice cream lasting longer than it takes to take an instagram photo = 2% LOL that being said.... the ice cream was so good! I tried the s'mores and an off the menu item. The s'mores was great but if I'm being completely honest, the marshmallow was too huge and not torched enough .... i love roasted/melted/torched marshmallows but it was too much of plain, unmelted marshmallow for me personally. So it was a lot of chewing. The cone was a really interesting twist!!! Tasted like a churro!! Best part was the Nutella spread inside. Wish it had more Nutella because the Nutella came off quick with the ice cream. I mean overall it was tasty but both items that I got melted incredibly fast and we had a whole table to clean up! It was all over our hands and the table! At first I was confused on why the cashier gave us hand wipes but after a few minutes, I figured it out. The fresh cone makes the ice cream melt at an incredible speed. I've never seen ice cream melt so fast in my life. We had to hurry and shove as much ice cream down our throats but it turned to soup very quick. I know the owners / workers can't do anything about it because that's their specialty cones but my only suggestion would be bigger bowls or something to catch the ice cream??? It was a huge downfall having to spend so much time cleaning the table afterwords :( Will have to visit again!! read more
Turn dough! Oh how I've missed you... The creations here are something special ! I got a vanilla ice cream with different assorted cereals and pretzels with a freshly made cinnamon cake on top. At first I was a bit skeptical considering how many flavors were being mixed together from the fruit loops, captain crunch, Oreos and pretzels but it worked WONDERFULLY. The cinnamon cake on top was pretty hot and suited the the ice cream rather nicely . Usually when I eat extremely sweet things I tend to get bored after a few bites but with this mix I ate it in no time. The service was awesome and the owner was kind enough to give me a water on the house. Can't say enough good things about turn dough!! I'll be back soon thank you. read more
Perfect place to stop during your stroll down Venice beach boardwalk! Good quality, quantity, and customer service. I've been wanting to come here for longest! I've watched their Instagram videos plenty of times but never made the drive down to Venice. My gf and I enjoyed both of our desserts. She got the s'mores with churro cone and I got the "uniqone", which is off the menu I believe. Luckily the "off the menu" app had turn dough on their list a couple weeks ago and I'm so glad they did! Everything about it was so bomb. It comes with Nutella, vanilla ice cream, fruit loops, and some other goodies. Their churro comes are delicious! Such a great texture and perfect amount of cinnamon. Pure magic. The s'mores ice cream was good as well. Marshmallow was toasted perfectly and plenty of graham crackers throughout the amazing churro cone. You definitely get your money's worth! The portion is big for the price and the taste is astonishing. Highly recommend coming here. The presentation is photo worthy as well! read more

It was just ok. I would have liked it more if it wasn't like an over priced McDonalds cone. For $10 I thought I was getting something extraordinary. I ordered their lemon desert. It came with a whole dried up lemon slice, no sugar on it, it wasn't edible at all. It was on top of regular vanilla soft serve ice cream with some cookie crumbs sprinkled on it. They served it in a fancy bread cone. But they sell that type of bread at 2×$1 where I'm from, and fresh. It had a drop of raspberry sauce and a pinch of lemon custard inside. My market brand yogurt comes with more flavor than that. I purchased four of those, trying to impress my company. I feel like I wasted my money! read more

I CANNOT BELIEVE I WALKED PAST THIS PLACE FOR SO LONG!!! Okay so I don't know when turn dough got on the scene but let me tellllll you go there, NOW! this place is for the inner fat kid in all of us who wants carnival food , you can create your own or try was of the premade versions they have either way it coming is a hot nuttella filled( if you choose) pastry covered in cinnamon sugar!! Its basically two desserts in one and who wouldn't want that? I opted out for the Vegan Coconut and it was soooo yummy! read more
A great spot for a treat on the Venice boardwalk. They hand make the churro like dough right there or at least did while we were there and it was well worth it! We ordered a Smores and a Caramel both were a dessert picture worthy that you hate to destroy and they tasted so good! You get your choice of vanilla, chocolate or a swirl custard. The toppings are the perfect amount not too much not too little. The only hard part was eating it quick enough before it melted !! They place it in a cup making it easier to manage, you get a cute wooden spork and they already know you're going to need some wet naps and have those plenty of napkins! Super great service.... super ice cream.... great spot to enjoy this treat with an amazing view!! read more

This is novelty and the pinnacle of an adult ice cream cone. Pretty decent flavors, with a good amount of sweetness. I bought the S'mores flavor, and the toasted marshmallow really complemented each bite of ice cream, along with the Nutella inside of the vanilla ice cream. The ice cream was really livened up by putting it inside a cinnamon cone. read more

We went for ice cream but after waiting for 10 minutes for someone to get to the window to take our order we were told that for ice cream the wait is over an hour. We ordered 4 milkshakes. It took a long time but the milkshakes were good. For being understaffed they gave us the best possible service. read more

This place really put a twist on an ice cream cone! We tried their Biscotti cone with a cookie butter spread and sea salt Carmel sauce and the Oreo cone with a Nutella spread and white chocolate drizzle. Both were amazing! You get to choose a spread, a topping and a sauce so if you want to build your own you can do just that! Well priced and fast service, would definitely go back! read more

The idea is great but the vanilla gelato was awful. The cinnamon cone was good and so were the toppings. But the vanilla gelato tastes worse than diet vanilla ice cream I've had. Service was nice and great place on Venice beach. This is a place for show and pictures, not if you're looking for a delicious dessert. read more

Great spot on the boardwalk for chimney cones and ice cream! The cones are addicting just by themselves, and the ice cream is very tasty and creamy, and not icy like a lot of other places. They have Colombe cold brew coffee too which is a perfect compliment for their desserts. 10/10 - would def recommend to anybody with a sweet tooth! read more

Yes you can, cone shape not cylinder as in Europe.
Do you closed at 9pm on Monday's? That's what your website states but I just got here at 8:15pm and the staff has shut down all the ordering windows.
