Super solid spot to grab a sweet treat . Located right on the Venice strip ( which is either a pro or con depending who you ask and how you like crowds ). I really appreciated the friendly staff that greeted me as well as the quick wait time for the cone. The choices were endless and the menu of ice cream was abundant . Everything starts with a vanilla base and goes from there . Although the ice cream and toppings were delicious on my Reese's peanut butter cone , I really was a fan of the cone itself . It's more of a "turn dough " almost like a cinamon roll . I thought it would get soggy with the ice cream , but no ! It was delicious . I wasn't a huge fan of the extra peanut butter they put in the then dough cone, I would try to get it without when I go back . But yeah , the cone was delicious despite the overwhelming peanut butter and everything was so cute presentation wise . Definitely would come back if I'm out in Venice and craving a sweet treat ! read more

The idea is great but the vanilla gelato was awful. The cinnamon cone was good and so were the toppings. But the vanilla gelato tastes worse than diet vanilla ice cream I've had. Service was nice and great place on Venice beach. This is a place for show and pictures, not if you're looking for a delicious dessert. read more

This is fun and worth the calories. As you can see in the photo, my s'mores sundae had a toasted marshmallow on top, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce and graham crumbs. What you can't see is the soft, chewy cinnamon croissant style cone, smeared with Nutella under it all. So fun and delicious! We also ordered a simple strawberry shake and it was very good too. Warning: the location is right by the opening to Venice Beach, which is a safer patch for kiddos than other parts, but I got the sense that you could have some front lines people watching here at times too. A lot of homelessness a few blocks away, so keep that in mind. It would feel terrible to walk by people struggling to find meals eating one of these gluttonous treats. read more

I stumbled upon Turn Dough by accident when I was actually on my way to a donut shop. Needless to say, I never made it to the donut shop! I love the concept of an ice cream cone made from what is basically a chewy cinnamon roll. I got mine lined with Nutella, vanilla ice cream, salted caramel sauce, and cookie crumbs. After spending a day at the beach we wanted something sweet. After initially deciding to get the ice cream/donut sandwich, we changed our minds after seeing this store. We loved the Tiramisu cone that we got. After eating the ice cream, you get to the good stuff. The cone is churro like and soaks up the melted goodness of the ice cream and is the perfect way to end the treat. Definitely recommend it although it is a bit messy to eat. Once is enough to share if you're not wanting a huge sugar rush. read more

I loved the effort! I'm coming in with a little bias since I've had the real dessert in Prague but it wasn't too bad! I think what made my rating a little low is the ice cream. It wasn't anything special, just regular soft serve. Toppings and the Trdelnik was good. Just maybe make the ice cream a little more flavorful with more flavor options and higher quality. But overall a great effort! read more

Freshly baked chimney cakes filled with ice cream AND nutella. So much yummy goodness in one bite, doesn't get much better than that. The ice cream was by far the best Ice cream I have ever tasted. It's a mandatory stop for me every time I go to Venice beach (which is a lot lot). They have ridiculous flavors that gets your attention. I absolutely love their lemon chimney cake ice cream! Their cake that is absolutely delicious on its own and made fresh everyday. The lemon one is filled with lemon curd and caramel and raspberry syrup topped with graham bits and sea salt. It's phenomenal. I don't feel gross eating it after. read more

My friend and I were walking the beach path from Santa Monica all the way to the Venice Canals and even though it wasn't scorching hot, it was warm enough that we agreed we deserved ice cream to cool us down. Of course, I checked Yelp and true enough, Turn Dough is nearby and on the path that connects Venice to Santa Monica. It's just a walk-up, order, then grab-and-go type deal. There's a bench and a table outside, but it was too warm that we didn't feel like sitting/standing around. I believe it's called turn dough because the "cone" is actually made of dough, and very similar to a cinnamon bun in taste. it's made to order so it takes approximately 10 minutes for your order to come out, which they will tell you ahead of time. I ordered the tiramisu flavor and my friend had the brownie. You can create your own combo, but we couldn't be bothered, lol. It comes out in a cone shape, but it actually sits on a cup, so that mess is somewhat minimized as you work your way to your ice cream AND cone. I have to say, it was heaven! In my case, I had 3 desserts in one ~ the cinnamon roll, the ice cream AND the tiramisu. The dough was still somewhat warm and the ice cream just melts into it. I was tearing off the dough and dipping it on the ice cream. It was very filling, so I was thankful we were on the move. it was actually perfect to snack on on the boardwalk. Very California, i have to say. The serving size matched the price, which was around $9 each. But a treat is a treat, so go big or go home! My friend and I enjoyed every bite. read more

Gobbled up REAL quick, those things are dangerously good. Another one I found on IG and saved. Went here before salsa dancing to minimize guilt. lol. Ordered Smore's and Tiramisu; both amazing! The marshmallow was burnt just right and a little firm inside with some chocolate inside. Tiramisu was so tasty and had a mellow citrus undertone. The cone itself is magic. The lady was friendly. Not the best options for seating (there was a bench and one table) and parking but we found a spot. Will be going back to try some other flavors. read more

Refreshing ice cream that melts in your mouth perfectly after a hot day walking through Venice. Writing this Yelp review because th staff was incredible nice and helful when choosing my flavor. I got the Golden touch and birthday cake!! The portions are huge so you can definitely share a specialty cone with someone AND get a milkshake (less messy). So many options to choose from so I'm definitely going back with a friend to knock out all the flavors! P.S there is parking near by $2 for one hour which is more than enough time to find this little shack!!! read more

Although i've been to Venice Beach hundreds of times before, I never really gave this location a try as I tend to stick to savory flavors instead. But boy, am I glad I did! I had the honey and pistachio cone and my nieces had the m&m's topped one with Nutella. Both were very delicious. The only downside was how fast it melts but that's due to the warmed cinnamon cone. I was not upset whatsoever though! The women at the counter are very friendly and helpful, while giving me time to decide and offering suggestions and their personal favorites. I have recently moved out of state but I think I might need to make more frequent trips! read more

This place deserves more people to come here. It's seriously under hyped. I found this place while browsing on yelp and the cones intrigued me. Especially the picture with the s'mores on the cone so I figure I try it. It wasn't too expensive and I felt like it was worth it. It was sooooooooo finger licking delicious! I got mine with half chocolate half vanilla ice cream and it had a toasted marshmallow on the top with caramel and chocolate sauce and graham cracker crumbs on the top and on a cinnamon sugar dough cone with Nutella in the cone. OMG it was soooooo good! The hit for me was the Nutella cinnamon sugar cone. I loved it so much! It wasn't too sweet or too much. And it was so beautifully presented :) i would definitely be back. As a big sweet tooth fanatic this place has brought me back memories from Prague. I have first tried this sweet rolled dough in Europe and had the taste still stuck in my mouth while i craved it everyday after my vacation. On a fine Saturday afternoon, while having a walk with my girlfriend at the beach we have stumbled upon this cute looking ice cream shop. Oh boy how excited I was to see my 2 year craving within 5 steps of me! I really enjoyed this spot. The ice cream was delicious and the Churro was great! I'm a huge fan of junk food so I'll never turn this place down. The only downside? THE MESS!!! Tip: Make sure you grab napkins on napkins on napkins because it can get everywhere if you aren't lucky. The hotter the day is, the worse it gets (I assume) Aside from the mess, I would return back to this location but already with the mentality of knowing there will be a mess. I'm unsure if you can ask for a cup (or if it comes with one) but I think it'll help out a lot. read more

I visited Turn Dough in February and was thoroughly impressed by their commitment to freshness and quality. I had the pleasure of trying the S'mores chimney cake cone and it was a taste sensation! The generous spread of Nutella paired with the creamy vanilla bean soft serve created a perfect harmony of flavors. The torched giant Marshmallow added a delightful twist, and the crushed Graham Crackers and drizzles of Chocolate and Caramel sauces took it to another level of indulgence. I also had their Matcha Milkshake, and it was an absolute delight! Wow Love this place. Personally me i am not an ice cream lover but this place is bomb. They have so many options that you get confused to choose from . Man i was standing in front of menu for like good 5 minuets to choose what i want. The gentleman helping us was friendly at first and explained it was a "very big crepe," so we went along with it. With tip, it ended up being over $20. Less than 30 seconds after ordering, we noticed they had an option with ice cream and asked if we could switch. At that point, his attitude noticeably changed and he seemed bothered, saying it would cost more. I told him that was fine, I'd pay the difference -- at that point we were already over $20 anyway. When we finally received the crepe, it was actually a regular, small size -- nothing like what was described -- and he still insisted on charging an extra $2. We didn't have cash, only card, and as a business owner myself, I know it's not practical to run a card for such a small amount, so he let it go after we explained. The main issues: * Prices are not clearly listed -- customers shouldn't have to guess. * Charging $20+ for a basic crepe is already high, then asking for even more is frustrating. * If a customer wants to make a quick change right after ordering, it shouldn't be treated like a problem -- especially when they're willing to pay. * Being in a tourist area doesn't justify taking advantage of people who may not ask prices upfront. Overall, not a great experience due to pricing and customer service.
