It was horrendous and a huge embarrassment - I could not even cover the spots up with makeup. The prints lasted on my face as bright red for 2 months and it took 8 months for the coloring to fade. The difference was that the wait lasts over an hr, the visit is about 5 min (in and out of the room), and he barely looks at my face nor feel. At least, Sherry closely examine my face. Much more reassuring. If the medication is not covered by your health insurance, Sherry would try to work around it making it cost less. Next visit is in may. Have to schedule two weeks in advance. For those of you who are using yelp via web and not mobile, there is a tip section you're missing out on! If you ask for water, they will give you a mini bottle of water. :P

To summarize, Garland Lee, PA, has been treating my blemish over about a month and I can't say enough praise but to write here. The right treatment, superb communication, great office, staff, scheduling, billing, everything has worked out just right. Their honesty, clarity, being clear about billing, and overall thoughtful make this practice a high recommend. To be fair, minor downsides are waiting 10-20mins/visit (they're very busy, get there on time or, better, 15m ahead of time especially on the 1st visit to process the intake paperwork which recurs each time until insurance is successfully billed), not always getting the doctor, not just Dr. Sherry Shieh who's on long term medical leave her many fellow doctors make for confident treatment and knowledge. I know dermatology is either optional or deferrable, but not only did my situation show how preventive care not just emergency treatment can save pain, emotions, time, and money, but the professional standards of the doctors here have made me respect and follow their dermatological medical advice. I consulted with Dr. Cameron Rokhsar after a biopsy confirmed basal cell carcinoma on my nose…read more During the consultation, I was told that reconstructive surgery following Mohs would not be covered by insurance, and I was referred to a self-pay plastic surgeon for a $400 consultation. I later requested the CPT codes, contacted my insurance company directly, and obtained a second opinion. I was told that medically necessary reconstruction following Mohs is typically covered when performed by an in-network surgeon. When I raised my concern with Dr. Rokhsar's office and asked for an explanation, I did not receive a substantive response. Instead, I received a letter terminating the physician-patient relationship. I also requested electronic access to my medical records and have not yet receive a response to that follow-up request. I have filed a complaint with the New York State Office of Professional Medical Conduct. I would encourage patients to independently verify insurance coverage, CPT codes, and reconstructive options before proceeding.

It has taken a few years to write this review. I am doing it now because, out of the blue, I was…read moreinvited by the office to join a new portal called FollowMyHealth. I was shocked. Here's why. I'll start by saying that I had one visit with Dr Vine herself, who I really liked. I went for a full body check and she was gentle and thorough. I believe this was in 2020. About a year or 2 later all of a sudden I developed a red rash on my shin. I called immediately, was seen the next day by the PA who took a scraping. Didn't hear back for 2 weeks and when they did call they said the test was inconclusive and I should come back. By this time the rash was completely gone and I had no symptoms of anything. I told them this and that I not only didn't see the reason to return, but I was upset that there was no diagnosis at all. I also asked for a refund as the visit was a complete waste of time. Turn the clock forward almost 2 years. Out of the blue I get a call from the office to follow up on the rash. I refuse to make an appointment as there was nothing wrong. This felt like harassment. There were multiple phone calls. There was no real explanation for their insistence to my coming back at that time. I should also note that during this time my husband was being treated for a cancer he eventually died from. The next thing I know I was "fired" from being their patient and, without my request, they mailed my records to me. Just for refusing to make an appointment. I never harassed them in any way. I just didn't see the need to return at that time. Perhaps I would have come back once my life was more settled, for another complete body check. The rash never returned. I was under the care of my GP who would be able to identify any issue. This was a horrific experience which does not, unfortunately, reflect directly on Dr Vine herself, but rather the way her office is run. I sent a letter to Dr Vine, telling her how upset I was. There was never a response from her. And now they want me to sign up for their portal? Geeesh!

I do have it, and it would have flown completely under the radar for (likely) years. I wouldn't have known to take preventive measures to keep those levels in check. I also trusted her to do a procedure on me, where she gave me upfront and honest feedback on what to expect from beginning to end, what to expect in terms of pain, recovery, complications, etc. And now I have the snatched jawline at 42 that I would have loved to have had at 22. She is the most wonderfully thorough, competent and truly lovely soul one could wish to meet. A million out of ten stars. Please go see her, you are going to feel the same level of trust and confidence with her that I do.
