We seldom use Turners except for lunches. Some values still exist on the lunch menu where presentation is nice food is half decent. Dinner is a different story...I was immediately greeted and asked that we sit at the bar...as she took us to the bar she whispered to the bartender to which he screwed up his face. The bartender said "she" would bring menus... I nearly finished my short pour when I went back to the hostess and asked for a menu, really? I ordered the shrimp and grits $25. Other ordered a "hydroponic" salad with shrimp $18. Presentation was nice but the bowl was maybe a cup of grits and a 1/2dozen shrimp that were rubbery. Turners are busy on weekends, so we've decided to let someone else have seats...from now on! Tab was $66 and nowhere worth that much. read more

We have tried Turners at least 6 times. I really wanted to support this couple but for their price it fails. We tried surf and turf and lobster under cooked. Tried elk ribs and it was over cooked. They try to be very upscale but sometimes what they serve with main course just doesn't work well. I just can't go again. I will spend extra for fancy meals but I am always disappointed. Been there four times; last time was our final. Too difficult an experience, even though there are some tasty items. But lots of restaurants in the tri-county area have tasty items. If you don't eat it the way the chef cooks it and plates it -- even if you want just a bit more cooking time or some minor different presentation (e.g., only balsamic reduction and no oil with the fried tomatoes; too bad, you have to take it with the oil; chef says, "That's the way it's supposed to be"). And some other bizarre customer treatment that is not at all customer-centric. Ain't goin' back. read more

This was by far my worst dining experience in countless years...if not ever! The chef prepared our steaks with pure salt for the spice. We sent our meals back. We asked that no salt be used on our new steaks. 3 minutes later the waitress brought back our original steaks that were rinsed off with water!!!! She said the chef said he prepared them correctly and would not be making new steaks for us. The waitress did not ask us if there was any other entree we would like. My wife and I were looking for a place to relax. We work very hard and an ordinary hustle and bustle, loud restaurant was not what we were looking for. The receptionist was lovely and fun loving. Our waitress Karylyn was beautiful and was joyful and pleasant. She was knowledgeable about the restaurant and the food. EVERYTHING was lovely and her service was impeccable. The service was quick but not rushed. The music was perfect. When we yelped the restaurant, the comment said "we never give a five star rating but this restaurant gets one." Well, I must share in the enthusiasm of the writer. I got the Pork and Johnny Cakes. Stewed spinach and sorghum butter. It was PERFECT. My wife got the fillet, grits and spinach. Once again, perfection. The composition of the meals and their accompaniments was a work of art. Our culinary experience could not have been better. We moved to the area 2 years ago and to be honest, we've not been impressed with restaurants in the area. But now we've found Turners!!! It was by far, the BEST meal and dining experience we've had - anywhere. The menu is streamlined, but has something for everyone. The flavor combinations were exceptional. It was so hard to choose from the menu because everything sounded fantastic. We shared the fried oysters as a starter. They were delish, so we knew we were in for a treat with our Supper selections. I had the Caramelized Diver Scallops and as a former New Englander, I have high standards when it comes to seafood! This dish surpassed my expectations! I would be tempted to order it every time I go but then I might miss out on the other delectable options on the menu. The pan roasted kale it was served with was amazing! My husband paid for college cooking great steaks, so he rarely orders steak in a restaurant because he can make a great steak himself. To my surprise he ordered the Seaside Strip - a strip steak with more fried oysters. That's right, he could not get enough of the oysters! He loved his steak with the perfect drizzle of blue cheese sauce, the Yukon potatoes and the wilted spinach. If you haven't been, GO! You won't regret it! Driving through the area for work and I needed some good, solid food. I checked yelp, this came up, and I couldn't be happier with it. I came during off hours and got the avocado boat to go (with the honey mustard dressing as suggested by the waitress). So delicious. Came out quick, and the staff was very friendly. From the hostess to Katie at the bar to our server, Steve, we had an amazing experience. Our waiter gave great recommendations. We had the Fried Green Tomato Caprese appetizer. For entrees we ordered shrimp and grits and the filet and egg. The shrimp and grits was our favorite but both dishes were amazing. Great restaurant in a cute part of town! My bf and I try new restaurants between Orlando and Gainesville often and I think this will be a new favorite. Chrissy was a great waitress and the atmosphere was classy and inviting. I had the pinot grigio and chicken. My bf had a glass of pinot noir and the filet and egg. It was all wonderful. They serve pretzel bread before the meal and it was so good. For dessert we had the cheesecake-- it was excellent! A hidden gem in Leesburg. read more

I went for lunch. The food was great. Service was friendly. However, not one person working in this building was wearing a mask. I thought it was a bad first impression when I walked in and the hostess wasn't wearing a mask. Then our server came to the table without a mask. I over heard the hostess talking about masks and if someone is unhappy about it, she'd put one on. But that's not how it should be. My food was great but I probably won't return until the pandemic is over. read more

For small family dinner decided to drive around downtown Leesburg just checking out what new places were along Main Street. Lucky for us we noticed Turners (surprisingly wasn't using Yelp (sorry Yelp) to find a place) and what a great experience we had. Interior was impressive and didn't expect it to be as open and expansive when you see the building from the outside. The brick wall along the end is !!!!painted!!!! Firstly the staff were terrific by providing us with recommendations, continually checking up on us (but not too frequent!) and seemed genuinely interested in providing a great dining experience. Wine menu had a good variety and apparently has recently been updated. Appetizer of toast and spreads was interesting since the spreads were varied and very tasty. Entrees were all good for the entire group and a surprisingly large side salad for only $3.00. A bit expensive for dinner but reviewing the lunch menu if budget is a concern it look like prices are reasonable for lunch meal. Next time in the Leesburg, FL area will definitely be back to Turners. read more

Went back for dinner with another couple After reading my previous review I was amazed that gruff server could torpedo everything. My salmon was good, but our friends said mey on their dishes. Come on chef, egg on filet minor. Bland scallops. When we said we would pass on dessert the server rifled the bill holders on the table and left. This restaurant has some work to do. read more

Great restaurant, delightful staff, cute location right off the Main Street in Leesburg. The wine list has interesting choices you won't find elsewhere. We started with the fried green tomato caprese, which was a delicious twist on an old favorite. Also had the hush puppies, served with three different butters, we couldn't decide which we liked best! The pork chop was so tender and juicy, served with grilled vegetables and a fluffy vegetable pudding that perfectly complemented it. Slightly above average food for this area but problems with the seating, service, chef and staff sunk this meal. Desperately needs a front of the house manager. We started out hopeful. Decent restaurants in this area of central Florida are hard to come by. Farm to table and locally sourced isn't something you find around here so we were hopeful. Unfortunately, the trip started out on a negative note with the "No Wait" app. No Wait is a great app that restaurants use successfully to manage their wait list. In the case of Turners, No Wait means absolutely nothing because they don't enter their walk-ins into the system. Your place in line in the app is irrelevant because it only identifies your place in line for people who use the app. Although the app told us we were third in line and the wait was 15 minutes, when we arrived we learned there were actually ten parties ahead of us and the wait was more than 40 minutes. No worries, we sat at the bar. Just don't use the app and expect to be seated any sooner than if you just walked in the door. Our server was overly effusive and very full of herself and made us feel as if she was doing us a huge favor by allowing us to eat there. A turn off after a 40 minute wait. On to the food: the Toast and Spread was a great appetizer. Particularly loved the bacon jam and pimento cheese. Black bean soup was very good, could have been simmered longer with a thicker base but the flavor was there and it was hearty. The Filet and Fried Egg with grits was a great twist. The filet was perfectly cooked but under seasoned. The grits were a little over done. The Ribeye was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Wilted spinach was a bit "over" wilted but it's hard to stop spinach from cooking once you start! Now to the epic fail of the night. My 85 year old father in law ordered the Prime Rib, medium. When delivered he received a very rare prime. I explained to the server he wanted it more done. She went on to explain how "that's how it's supposed to be" and proceeded to explain the process by which a prime rib is cooked. I asked specifically to have the prime returned to the kitchen and put under the broiler for a couple minutes for him. She responded "he (the chef) won't do that". She explained the prime would be placed into au jus to further cook which we accepted. Literally moments later, she returned with a now wet, but no further cooked prime. A woman we assumed was the manager stopped at the table and asked how things were. I explained the problem, she said "oh" and left, never to return. I later approached and asked if she was the manager. She told me there was NO manager. Just the chef, and he stays in the kitchen. I again explained the problem to which she responded "that's how the chef does things" and dismissed the issue. No apology, no offer to make it right, no offer to get my father in law a different protein. Ultimately, he went without eating and we left, never to return. read more

Alas...a brand new restaurant in town... They don't take reservations. At 6:30 on a Friday night with the place almost empty, they could not accommodate a party of 7. With cocktails and dinner, a significant tab. 4 people could not make it happen so they suggested we go to another establishment around the corner!!! We went to the other restaurant and were told that it happens all the time that they get folks turned away from Turners. I truly hope the owner reads these reviews so he doesn't wonder why his restaurant failed. Word of mouth is very important in this area of Florida. Dined there recently and were impressed with the staff and decor. Waited at bar till our table was available and bartender was friendly. My husband's strip steak was ok and a little tough but sides were good and my shrimp and grits were very good. Our waiter, Steven, was great and we really enjoyed talking to him. Very attentive! Friendly greeting by the host at the door and a friendly and very knowledgeable server. My wife ordered blackened red grouper and I ordered Sea Island shrimp + grits. Both wonderful dishes full of flavor and beautifully presented on the plate. We followed dinner with a delectable white chocolate bread pudding with raspberry sauce. We definitely will return again to try some other scrumptious dishes! Keep up the good work! My wife and I are trying to relocate to our Florida home if we can ever sell our 300 yr. old home in CT. We've spent about half of our time here for the past six years and have been trying to find a Restaraunt a bit above the normal good but not outstanding meals at local haunts. Our search is over! Turners is outstanding in almost every way. The staff is genuinely enthusiastic, friendly, and love the food themselves so are exceptional advisors on the variety of meals available. The food is outstanding! We had the Toast & Craft Spreads for an appetizer. The server said she loved them and to try each spread alone then all of them together - yummy I had the Pork & Pancakes- a wonderful Duroc Pork chop cooked perfectly that came with butternut pancakes and wilted spinach. My wife had the daily special which was short ribs. It filled her entire plate and was so tender it literally fell off of the bone. We were stuffed but managed to share a dessert that was exceptional. They call it Bread Pudding but it is unlike any bread pudding we had ever had. We all but licked the platter clean. The chef/owner Jack - came out as we were finishing our meal and we were able to tell him in person how special the meals had been. He shared his experience with us and explained how he changes the menu about four times per year. Our waitress was exceptional as was all of the staff. The menu has about 6 or so meals to choose from or you can special order from the grill. I would highly recommend choosing from one of the meals as they demonstrate the Chef's love of his work and expertise. The meal was highly overpriced for the quality of the food. I can make it better at home. The craft beer I had was horrible. The service was good but a bit stiff. First time! Great restaurant and wonderful food. Jack and Allison are the owners. Jack exec chef and Allison works the front. Unique menu of both fish and meat. Jack buys most of his producer, meats and fish direct from the farms or ranch to ensure it is fresh and much of it organic. Nice environment. Very nice bar and available for those might want to eat at the bar. They do not take reservations and try try to limit maximum table size of six and no more. Jack feels this allows better service and controls the kitchen more. Turners is open for lunch as well with good looking menu. If you live in The Villages you have to try this place. It up scale to anything local to The Villages. Only 20 minutes drive. We will return again. My fiancé is already planning to take her golf group there for lunch. read more

Enjoyed lunch on a Saturday. We had the prime rib sliders and the turkey "Ruben" sandwich that they made for me off the menu with no bread. We had fries and the kettle chips, both very good. I had pimento cheese that I dipped the chips in and it was so tasty. Our server Victoria was friendly and very knowledgeable. Other staff also checked on us and refilled drinks etc. We ended our meal sharing the white chocolate bread pudding. It was one of the best desserts I've ever eaten. Twice I have had lunch at this restaurant. One of them was a take out. Unlike some other restaurants, you receive the same portions as dinning in. The Corn Flake Crusted Grouper is awesome! On Thursday, I had a delicious burger. Guys, if you are looking for a good burger, this is the one for you to try. Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu.
