My friend and I ordered a prepackaged beer and the bartenders demanded a tip. They literally walked to the fridge, grabbed a beer and handed it to us and demanded a tip for that. There was no service involved, in that instance they served as a cashier. We weren't even the old creeps that pay for emotional prostitution with the bartenders like Claire insinuated that we were. We just got our beers and played pool. Before this incident they wouldn't help us find the triangle, and the dude working told my friend he had shitty hair. Awesome sports bar in Costa Mesa. I usually go to The Hub but it was nice to try a new place for a change. LOCATION: Getting into the parking lot can get a little tricky but there's always a ton of parking in their parking lot and street parking. It's a long, narrow, pool hall with tons of tvs. SERVICE: So, my beef with this place is the half-naked ladies. You can tell this is a pub made by dudes for dudes. I literally had to do a double take when I saw our waitress walk up. The service was nice but I can do without the half-naked ladies. FOOD: Taco and sushi specials! My fiancée and I went here tonight. The night started out great. Good atmosphere, friendly staff. A couple of pool tables and shuffle board. Then I got the bill for 2 beers and a shot of MaCallan 18. The single shot was $90. My lady has ordered this multiple times at many bars and restaurants and never payed more than $25. And that's after an up charge. We went to the bar staff to dispute the charge. They said they could do nothing about it. "It's top shelf." And "The owner is crazy. He up charges like that all the time." I'm stupid for giving them my debit card. But they are obviously crooks for charging what you would pay for half a bottle of the same stuff at TotalWine. Save your money and go to Green Girl Saloon. PS: after reading multiple 1 star reviews, I see that someone else got up charged the same amount for MaCallan 18 three months ago. So it's not a fluke, they're going out of their way to screw people. read more

This place is Tucktaway off of Newport Boulevard in Newport Beach. What a fun place! Girls here hot, decently Beers and drinks. The food here there's nothing to write about. Microwave burgers and pizzas is what they serve. I guess it's a requirement they serve food in order to stay open. I've been here plenty of times and the service is pretty decent. The prices are....newport prices. So, adjust your expectations accordingly. If you can't afford to go drinking in newport, don't go drinking in newport. This is why God invented Santa Ana. Also, the person "Kristie" that posted about the "guy" who didn't believe she was of age has actually worked there for quite a while. He's pleasant and works hard to make sure things are squared away so the bartenders can get your drinks processed and served faster. This kind of stuff includes checking identification of patrons who appear to be under the age of 30 or so. "Kristie" -if she was studying criminal law- would know that a bar can be fined or worse by serving a person who appears to be underage and if fact is under age. That's why they check identification. Go figure. "Kristie" should go to the DMV and get better identification if folks who work at bars think her ID is suspect. Probably the best $35 "Kristie" will ever spend as it will prevent this kind of stuff from ever happening again. Although, it begs the question, "what was Kristie doing that even the blonde bartender wanted her thrown out?" No idea, her comments leave that unaddressed. Sadly, the world may never know. Lighting up a small business, and an ethical employee, on a shit-ass, anonymous app just goes to show what kind of character this "Kristie" MAY be. I'd drink here. And I'd drink here when that "guy" bar-backs. You should too. Otherwise take your Busted ID and go elsewhere. read more

So the bartenders are awful! Standing at the bar and the girl goes around me to ask a guy if he wants more water. I am buying alcohol. UPDATED 08/03/2015 This is a semi-dive bar / pool hall in the Costa Mesa / Newport area. The attraction here is the affordable beer pitchers and the friendly & attractive female bartenders in skimpy attire. So it's a place to grab a beer or cocktail and also enjoy the view and some friendly conversations. My most recent visit was this past weekend to see the Ronda Rousey fight. I cam with 6 of my friends to meet some of my other friends that were already there. Here's my breakdown: GOOD 1: The owners really seem to care about their customers. Even when their appointed management falls short they step in and make sure things are corrected to their standards. Joann Turner (owner) is especially good at taking the extra step. GOOD 2: The drinks are very reasonably priced and poured decent. In typical dive bar fashion you get your money worth in alcohol. GOOD 3: They show all the pay-per-view fights and events. More and more bars in the area are no longer showing these things due to rising costs but Turners seems to have figured this out and still shows them all. GOOD 4: They have fresh delicious tacos and BBQ on the patio. The prices for the BBQ are VERY reasonable and delicious. GOOD 5: The bartenders are all attractive and wearing next to nothing. If that's your thing then they do it 5 star BAD 1: The patio isn't technically part of the building so you can't bring your drinks on to the patio. For those that smoke it means you can't smoke and drink. For us who don't smoke but do vape... it means the same thing. They did mention they're working with the City to get the permits needed to change this but these things take time. It's not the bar's fault but it is part of the experience. Overall..... My very first visit wasn't nearly perfect but after speaking with Joann I came back with some friends and gave them another shot. This last visit was excellent. We all had a really good time. The pitchers were very affordable and the tacos from the patio were delicious. I'll definitely be returning and would suggest you give them a try. If for any reason your experience isn't great, don't write them off..... I'm certainly glad I didn't and I'm very happy we came back. Now we have another spot to hit in the Newport Area where I know we can enjoy a live event or play some pool. read more

We started drinking around 3 so it was really chill around that time. Plenty of street parking and they also do have a small parking lot. They have a fully stocked bar and decent selection of beers. They also serve food but I didn't try any The Bartenders service was good. And my buddy who opened a tab kept offering them shots. Then we were about to leave so he bought another round for Me, Him and the 2 Bartenders. One of the Bartenders suggested Clase Azul $45 a shot. We've been drinking Patron for the most part and I think it's only half the cost. I asked him if he was ok with that because I can buy a whole bottle for that much. He said sure why not then we take our shots and he's given the bill. He signs it puts the tip on there $20 on a $300+ bill. The Bartender then asks if that's correct he says yes ive been busy shots for you 2 so yeah that's what I'm comfortable with. Well that's less than 10% she says. He says well if you would've stuck with Patron then it probably be more but you chose the top shelf liquor. Then she turns to me and asks if I want to contribute? Lol WTF? I understand they make majority of their money on tips but come on no shame? He bought shots and left a fair tip based on his purchases that went to them. They would've gotten a better review because up until that point everything was good. But that just left a bad taste in our mouth. read more
