Decided to try The Turning Point, in Bryn Mawr today, a breakfast, brunch, lunch establishment. Encouraged by the crisp, clean decor and airy feel, we were quickly escorted to our table. Our server, Matt could not have been more personable and pleasant. They have a wide range of teas, both hot and iced and to my husband's delight, iced coffee, all brewed in house daily. I chose the white peach brew, iced and it was delicious. In addition, pitchers of water with lemon are left on every table. Being big drinkers, this was a plus. The menu is varied and well thought out, not your run of the mill breakfast combos. My husband ordered the freebird skillet. Homemade cornbread topped with dried cranberries, candied walnuts, spicy sausage gravy and 2 sunny side up eggs. Cornbread was very good, but there could have been a lot more sausage in the gravy. I had the shrimp Benedict, one of the specials. The shrimp were very small, a tad overcooked and salty. The eggs were poached perfectly. the lemon cilantro hollandaise sauce, while plentiful, had neither a lemon nor cilantro flavor--an odd combination for hollandaise sauce, imho. The home fries, small diced and well seasoned were cold.The sliced avocado had turned grey. Here's the kicker. It took 45 minutes from ordering to being served.(side note, yelp reviews confirmed similar experiences.) On a positive note, our server brought out a bowl of freshly cut fruit and apologized for the delay. (I saw more than a few of those same fruit bowls on neighboring tables...hmmmm). Went for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The food was great but this place seems a little bit understaffed. Dirty plates set next to us at the bar for about 20 minutes and it took about 30 to 40 minutes for our food to come. When we walked in it took a good 10 minutes for us to get a menu. The staff was very nice though they even offered us free fruit for the long wait. Minus one star for the long waits. read more

I really want to love this place because I live about 100 yards away so it's definitely convenient and a much needed breakfast place for the area.. I have probably been there at least a dozen times since it's opened, with mixed results... at the beginning it was excellent and then it seemed the service went down..To be fair, they are always willing to comp you or make good when something is not right, but if that's just a one time thing, ok... but it seems just the bad experience is outweighing the good... today we arrived at 2 ish.. plenty of time to avoid the breakfast rush and enough time before they were closing..we ordered rit away, a burrito and sandwich and salad... not too complicated and nothing specialized.. 50 minutes later no food and we were told "the kitchen was backed up. The place was about one quarter filled so I don't know how th kitchen was backed up but we were not the only ones affected. People sitting near us got their food and apparently one order was wrong. The person with the correc food was done eating for about fifteen minutes before their companions food came out. The management did bring us over some fruit and comped our meals and gave a coupon to come back, but honestly, if you're a breakfast lunch place and can't provide consistent service, you shouldn't be in business read more

First I had to give one star but for the waitress that served us today I would rate her a 5 star. Other than that this place really took me to another level but not for a pleasant experience. The place is very warming nice décor. We were seated and when I went to serve us the water provided in the table I stopped because we had dirty glasses. I should have gotten up and left because after that it was bad from that point on. I told the waitress and she decided to get us new ones no problem very sweet girl. We placed the order and my salad came out with nothing that was suppose to be on it and the worst part was the grilled chicken it was so dry that it had become dehydrated disgusting. I told my waitress and she sent her manager to our table and the manager said it will take 5 to 6 minutes to do a new piece of grilled chicken and took the salad back t seemed as she was upset that I didn't eat it like that no apologies. This is where the problem began I am not sure who trained this manager to handle any type of situation but her attitude did not display proper training. So I waited and received a new salad well honestly it was disgusting. The chicken taste gummy had no flavor the mangoes in the salad were half yellow and half black color I mean it just looked not edible I sincerely told my friend don't eat anything from this place. She had ordered something that was not edible as well and at that point we ask for the manager. She came to our table and I showed her the food and her attitude was completely off again, like she could not see what I was seeing. She display attitude and I was not giving one to her I was just basically asking for a food that can be eaten. This is something that you should never receive in a place that has potential to be a 5 star spot. We ended up having an argument because of her response to me, I could not believe that she behave in that matter. She literally said to me that my assumption of the first chicken was just that an assumption. I said to her didn't you see the chicken it was dehydrated would you eat something like that. She said it was done this morning that answer really scared me because she took no ownership in anything and she was defensive nothing that I would bring up to her attention for the better of this beautiful place matter to her. I was appalled at this manager behavior from the beginning her pride and lack of humbleness got the best of her. She was very offensive in the way she treated us. I walked away knowing I will never eat in this place again. Was looking for a nice edible quality lunch instead I got food and attitude worst then garbage. read more

I definitely would never go back here after today. We called ahead but still it took about a half hour to get seated. After we all ordered (5 of us), it took almost an hour to get our food. I got mine first, but I wanted to wait for everyone else. Little did I know I'd have to wait another half hour! My parents didn't get their food until ten minutes after me, but were not given butter with their pancakes. They asked for that but it took about 10 minutes until they got it... at which point their food was cold. My husband and brother still didn't have their food at this point and when they finally got it a half hour after I got mine, their food was cold which really didn't make any sense. It was my birthday brunch today too so I was extremely disappointed and would absolutely not recommend going to this place. read more

Just left. Could not have been worse. Went for breakfast, over 30 min wait for food, got 2 of the 5 meals ordered. These 2 went cold as we waited for the other 3 to arrive. Asked for butter, after 10 min wait hunted down another waitress to bring some. Last 3 meals arrived, barely warm. Complained to waitress (not her fault-place is managed poorly) Manger came over, apologized, comp'd us for a couple of the cold meals and gave us an "OOPS" card. Wait... you have a preprinted "OOPS" card? How about managing your kitchen in such a manner as to eliminate the need for such a thing. Guess what, all the "OOPS" cards and com'p meals will not have us go back. 2 hours for a less than average meal and you use the excuse that you had several large parties??? This was my first time at this restaurant. I was excited to try their gluten-free menu. My waiter, Matt, was friendly, informative and all around terrific. But the food was the best part of the experience. It did take a little while because they were so very busy, so expect to wait 10-15 minutes for breakfast. SO worth it, from the organic coffee to the food. I had the gluten-free eggs benedetto served on a bed of the freshest mixed greens ever with a side of chicken sausage. So blasted delicious. The hollandaise, noticeably homemade, was melt in your mouth outrageous. My tastebuds got a major treat today. It was such an incredibly delicious meal, there are not enough adjectives to describe it. I cannot wait until next weekend for another outing to this place. An ideal brunch place! This place just opened up and the ambience is admirable. The food is absolutely delicious and the waiters are very kind too. Last time I went both my friend and and I received dirty silverware/plates so I'm guessing it's because this place is so busy during brunch hours. Besides that, it was a nice brunch spot. Great addition to the Main Line food scene. With so many options, there's something for everyone! Delicious breakfast and lunch all day, with so many choices, as well as specialty coffees and smoothies, all topped off by the cheerful, friendly service. Soups are homemade and vegetarian based except the obvious meat soups. We loved the carrot ginger soup and, though we each ordered the avocado toast, when it arrived, we wished we had shared. I rarely write reviews but thought about my experience most of yesterday and wanted to share initial thoughts. First and last time I'll be there. We arrived at 11:30 (not unusually busy) - the counter top where you wait was covered with crumbs, open newspapers and multiple people budding ahead of us to place name. Irony is that the hostess started from the back to take names and began seating them that way. When we were seated, I had to switch out a chair as mine was covered in milk. It got worse....four unbussed tables remained unbussed and dirty during our entire meal. Floor was covered with dirty napkins and food scraps. Had to ask for silverware multiple times and never brought our entire order. Brought the bacon as we were paying the bill and said they wouldn't charge us for it...wow, thx for that!. Help was disorganized and frankly not real pleasant. My skillet breakfast was over cooked. The biggest turn off was how dirty it was and we should have left before we sat down. I wanted to try this place after I saw a post on Facebook saying you have to try this place it is the best, you will forget about the rest. So we went for lunch. The place itself was nice and new and fairly clean but was quite noisy. After we were seated I immediately noticed all the debris on the floor from food crumbs, napkins to receipts. I get that it was a busy rush time but they need to work on sweeping regularly, not just during down time. Food on the floor doesn't fly with me. We were seated near a serving station where they keep silverware, place mats, glassware,,,etc, This was annoying as every few minutes someone was reaching behind to gather supplies and the space was really tight. Literally had a sever nearly brushing up against my date, reaching behind their head..etc. We placed our order of 1/2 soup and sandwich each and waited forever. When the food finally came the order was a little wrong. First, 1/2 my meal was on my dates plate and 1/2 their meal was on my plate so we had to do a bit of a switch a roo. We both ordered soup but instead of soup my date got a salad but decided to keep it and it was enjoyed. The other thing is the turkey ruben melt was just bread, turkey and melted cheese and was disappointing. No Russian dressing and they were out of coleslaw. I got cream of mushroom soup but it was more like mushroom broth and no cream and was flavorless. My sandwich was a turkey club with bacon and it was good. Service was good though I want to point out all the servers looked to be college students. This place was a one and done for us. We like to try new places but we won't be back. read more

My first visit was for a late lunch with friends on a Monday, so we didn't experience the crowds that other reviewers mentioned - although I like to a crowd at a breakfast/lunch spot - it tells me the food is worth waiting for. Two of us opted for an omelet which was delicious, the potatoes and muffin very tasty, and the small serving of fresh fruit a very nice addition. My other friend had a chicken salad wrap which she said was very tasty as well. I agree with the other reviewers that the staff and service were friendly and attentive and as I was late arriving he was quick to get my order in and served. The place is bright and cheery with enough space so that you are not sitting on top of the people next to you. I am so happy to have more choices for breakfast on the Main Line, and will definitely return. Also I'll be visiting the ones in Blue Bell (where my sons live) and North Wales ( where my sister lives), once they open. read more
