I have been here a few times and enjoyed it every time. It's a cute and cozy chain breakfast, brunch and lunch spot. The seasonal food specials are usually unique and good. I usually order one of the skillets; the Popeye skillet, it has veggies and eggs your way. I think scrambled is the best in my opinion for this type of dish. The omelettes are good and the side of potatoes are crispy. Their coffee is good. They have a healthy section on the menu also. 1. We arrived (on my birthday) and were told a 45 minute wait from the hostess who did not even look or know her surroundings: being 5 open tables not awaiting reservations. 2. We continued to wait as the tables had remained open, and these were 4+ top tables with dirty plates and cold food remains as they had not been touched for a while since the tables had left. 3. We had not seen a busboy or anyone clean other open by dirty tables, and when we did it was slow and the cleaner took one straw at a time in, wasting more time than actually working. 4. It is obvious this place will self implode on itself as they continue to turn people away and not seat and when they do, they triple seat thus sending all orders to the kitchen at once essentially slowing the food delivery down as it boggles the kitchen. 5. Really disappointed because I wanted to come here today and reserved my spot on the waitlist that said it would be a 15-25 min wait. However after over 30 min went by and we were not texted we checked in with the host and she said it would just be another 10 min for them to get our table ready. I have been here a few times, first time I ordered the Banne e bachus (french toast topped with mixed berries with vanilla marscapone on top) and the lobster eggs benedict. Yeah, I know I'm greedy I ordered two dishes. But it was delish! Second time I went, I ordered the Grande Huevos Rancheros, it was enough for 2 ppl. It was good too. Third time I was there, I ordered the Wilbur Skillet, it was OK, too much potatoes, not enough bacon. I'd definitely go back, I love breakfast food. Now about the service... it was OK. Each time I go, I see the wait staff chit-chatting behind the counter or just standing around. The back-of-house is this place's saving grace. The front-of-house should be replace wholesale and for a discount. For the price of breakfast here, or for any other reason for that matter, the waitstaff should not leave their pitcher of water in the table for guests to pour themselves, come by to periodically check on the guests, and not have to be flagged down for the bill. The hostesses should have more verbosity than a monosyllabic troll. Thank you, management, for the reflection of your incompetence in those you hire as customer facing employees. I should preface this by saying I'm a big fan of Turning Point. When we lived in Hoboken it was one of our favorite spots to get brunch. A short time after moving to the suburbs we were excited to hear that Turning Point would be opening in Westfield. I have to agree with other commenters that the restaurant seemed overwhelmed the first few months. We had instances where dishes came out cold, haphazardly, or the service was inattentive. If I hadn't frequented the restaurant in other locations I would have been less likely to return. However, the restaurant seems to be running much better now. We haven't had a problem the past few times we've been there with our food coming out cold. The service could still be a bit speedier - when you're only serving lunch and breakfast, no meal should take more than a half hour to be served. Turning Point does seem very focused on fixing whatever snafus arise so I think it's only a matter of time before they're a well-oiled machine. I would give this location 3 1/2 stars, and I really believe that it will make its way to 4 stars before long. read more

Pros: - nice menu, lots of tasty things to choose from. - order a coffee and they give you a carafe for the table - fresh squeezed OJ (delicious) - nice interior. fireplace in the back dining hall was warm - sourdough bread. when they ask you what kind of toast, choose that. Came here on a Sunday as i was visiting town. The wait was really long. They have a waiting area for people to sit, read papers and eat cups of snacks (cereals). We ordered some drinks to wait. My son has the smores hot chocolate which i thought tasted really food. He didnt seem like he like it tho (more for mommy). We finally got seated and placed our orders. Our orders took long to come as well. The hostess brought us a plate of fruits on the house and apologized. When the food finally came, i had the lobster eggs benedict which my girlfriend had raved about. In my opinion i felt it tasted okay. This is by far and away my favorite place to get brunch. I definitely recommend making reservations on a Saturday or Sunday morning, as there can be a wait. The food is always beyond reproach, and the wait staff is incredibly courteous and flexible. I like to order two eggs scrambled, bacon cooked soft and one Berry Chocolatey pancake, and nobody has EVER hassled me about it. The one time I did get frustrated there was when the hostess assured us a 15 minute wait, and 45 minutes later people who came after us were being seated. We mentioned this to our server, who got the manager to our table IMMEDIATELY. The manager was genuinely concerned, and gave us a complimentary fruit bruschetta appetizer. We ended up ordering and sharing an order the crunchy monkey (pancakes with bananas and granola), lobster benedict, and the yogurt parfait (with bananas and granola....see a theme here? Lol). My biggest concern about Turning Point was that when the food arrived, the waitress made a comment suggesting that the plate she was putting in front of my 18 month old daughter was "kind of hot" and walked away. While I am always pleased with the food at Turning Point, and the hustle of being seated as quickly as possible, this rating has been lowered due to the encounter I had with my server on March 15, 2018. I wrote about this as soon as I got home that day, but only decided to post it now because I do believe this story is important. Especially in the world we live in now. I went to the Westfield establishment at around 10:30 AM that day, and there was no line to be seated. However, we still waited for the hostess to seat us because that is what is right. We were seated and given menus right away and our server introduced herself to us going by then name Tina. Right after introducing herself, she says (and I'm paraphrasing), "I know you just got seated but next time just wait until someone seats you because theres a seating system and--" At this point I cut her off. I kindly replied, "Oh, we were seated by the hostess." Instead of saying sorry right away, she says, "Oh. Okay. Because it LOOKED like you just sat wherever you wanted. It LOOKED like it." So we move on. She takes our orders because we are still hungry, but whatever mood we had coming in surely went out the window. I told the manager shortly after finishing my meal briefly what had happened. Here's the thing: I know being a waitress is hard. I know they do so much for so little and hardly receive the appreciation they truly deserve. But I also know that working with and interacting with humans is part of the job. Before accusing us of something, she should have checked with the hostess first. After all, they are coworkers. She could have easily asked if we sat ourselves or if we were seated. I believe that checking your assumptions with reliable sources is vital to interactions with people. Also, use your context clues. How would we have gotten menus had we not been seated? I checked, the menus are stored behind the front desk. Did she think we were really that rude as to go behind the desk and take it upon ourselves to find the menus? I hate to say it, but we are of Asian descent. Did she profile us right away as being foreign, not being fluent in English, and not knowing how restaurants work in America? It doesn't matter. We're human and deserve respect. Maybe she had a long day, maybe there's a lot going on at home and this was a minor slip. But it's a big deal to be accused and disrespected, especially when we did nothing to draw such attention to us. To start off an interaction like that-- making assumptions before even talking to us, making accusations before taking the extra step and confirming it-- is not okay. Frankly, "Check yourself before you wreck yourself," is a phrase coined for incidences exactly like this. We still tipped her a little over 15% because we want her to understand that we still respect her job and her walk of life. But to be disrespected like that when we came into this facility giving nothing but respect, is unacceptable. And much more without ever an utter of a sincere apology. Just be sincere, admit you were wrong and be better next time. Sometimes putting pride aside is better than walking away and hoping we never come in contact again. This is not okay and I wish the circumstances had been different. read more

Open but intimate space: bright white crown molding with cutesy french-inspired decor surrounds two main dining areas and a short-order bake case/coffee counter in the front. Happy and quick service (for a weekday around noon) and relatively inexpensive prices for brunch (between 6 and 10 for most of their dishes). You certainly aren't getting diner portions, but for the atmosphere and the quality of the food it's not a rip off at all. Free parking in the back as well. Act as if you're going into the paid parking lot next to it but drive past and park behind the Banana Republic back entrance. Goooood stuff. read more

I loved their brunch menu and I swear I ate like a king that morning. We got there at 11:00AM and waited about 20 minutes but thats understandable given that I was with a party of 5. I ordered the bananas foster waffle, juevos ranchero with turkey sausage (no chorrico left.. i know i was upset too), two french pressed coffees (hawaiin kona and kenya), chocolate chip pancakes, side of home fries, side of sausage and freshly squeezed orange juice (yummm). As you can see,.. i brought an appetite that morning and needless to say I left looking like i had swallowed the whole pig. This was a really strange experience. While the food was good, the staff was a mess and timing was not well handled. I called ahead and they told me they could put my name down for a 45 minute wait. When I arrived 30 minutes later to check in, they told me it would be another 30 minutes. When I came back after 30 minutes, they told me it would be another 15-20 minutes. We sat by the hostesses who were clearly overwhelmed and starting talking amongst themselves in the front of the restaurant. They said "We should just start kicking people out. Or tell them they're stupid. Pancakes? What a dumb order. Coffee? It's terrible." Overall it was an uncomfortable experience and after following up again, we eventually got seated. I did not have a good experience at this low-end diner, which masquerades as a trendy café. For starters, there were greasy fingerprints all over my knife and water glass. The food came out quickly, yet my Eggs Benedict ($9.50) was cold. The hollandaise sauce had broken, and the English muffin was soggy. It was garnished with unripe tomato slices, and diced breakfast potatoes, which were cooked adequately, but barely lukewarm. The whole dish, besides not being hot enough, was tasteless. I also ordered the fresh fruit salad ($4.50), which consisted of finely-diced honeydew melon, minced mango, blueberries, red seedless grapes, and sliced strawberries. It looked and tasted like it had been sitting around for days. The top was garnished with powdered sugar, which didn't help.
