Only three stars because in the whole place, no high chairs and only one booster seat that had obviously not been cleaned all summer. I understand the no high chair thing, as it's a small place, but only one booster? That I had to use a dozen wipes to get remotely clean? But the service and the atmosphere are not so hot. We were seated sometime around 12:20ish and place closes at 1:00. We felt like they were just ready for people to leave. My dad and I come here all the time, it's our favorite place. The food is awesome, really no way around it. We have ordered quite a few different menu items, and we have never been disappointed. My dad has a massive sweet tooth and always gets the lovers crepe with strawberries and whipped cream. My favorite is the Turtle frittata with spinach, goat cheese, and lots of tasty herbs. It even comes with fresh arugula on top! Though there is typically a bit of a wait--usually 15-20 minutes to get your order--it always comes out piping hot and delicious. It appears that there is only one chef there most of the time, and he does an awesome job keeping up with all of the orders, even when it's busy. I have a feeling he is the reason the food is always consistently amazing. Never got to try the food. We went there for the first time as we had just moved to Westbrook. We tried to order take out but were told they were too busy right then for takeout orders. Then don't advertise take out! What a terrible way to run a business. There are plenty of food businesses who will just tell you that the wait will be long (try ordering pizza on a Fri night!). That's fine. The customer has the option to decide if they want to go elsewhere. But, just "no, not going to take your order"..I don't think so. We went late morning during the week to avoid the crowds. It's a small place to say the least. Got a seat right away. The food was enjoyable and the service was fine. I won't dwell on that since there were some issues that will make it difficult to make a return trip anytime soon. I would have gone with 4 stars but I there were a few things that bothered me. The tables, utensils and such were clean enough to avoid my wrath. The window air conditioner vents were nasty. Lots of black accumulated dust. No excuse for this. Wipe them down once a day and that problem goes away. Attention to detail goes a long way. The chef station is exposed so everything is on display. It's like Hibachi, you're almost compelled to watch. Although the chef was working quite hard, he was working without gloves and going between raw, cooked, fruits and salad greens without skipping a beat. For good measure, he picked up his cellphone, typed a relatively lengthy text and went right back to work without skipping a beat. If you can look beyond these details, I imagine you'll enjoy yourself. The place has a good reputation otherwise and came highly recommended. As I mentioned earlier, I enjoyed the food. There are good selections. I only wish I could have kept my eyes shut. read more

Came here for breakfast after staying at the Water's Edge Resort and my wife was a little skeptical of the place when we passed by. Walked in and space was litte tight but found a table at the back of the cafe. We ordered the Frittata, Omlet, and eggs. We watch the chef worked his magic and talking to the people sitting at the counter. Once we got our food everything was perfect from the toast to the texture of the omlet and frittata. Only issue was they forgot our side of bacon but guess that's because the waitress did not put it on our order and wasn't charged for it. Best breakfast we ever had. read more

Stopped here on a trip back from Rhode Island after seeing gentlemen of reviews - as some said it's really small and you are basically right on top of the kitchen. Not the cleanest I've seen (to be fair I don't always SEE the kitchen so who knows?). Service was slow, only one waitress, and food took a while and was somewhat cold when it came. I don't know what to say. I was looking forward to going here very much so after seeing the pictures and reviews. I met one of my top customers here for a breakfast meeting telling him how great the place looked. We showed up at 7:30am. As soon as we walked in, the waitress informed us that the chef wasn't due until 8am so they could only make simple stuff like eggs. Of course I wanted a frittata and crepes..... I was able to convince my customer to wait 30 minutes before ordering. At 8am the chef was still not there. Time at this point is going by extremely slow and I know I was getting aggravated and hangry. At 8:15, I could hear the waitress on the phone trying to find out where the chef was?!?!?! She told us at 8:20 that he would be there in 5 min. Come to find out he lives right above the restaurant?!?!?! Seriously? He finally showed up after 8:30, an hour after we got there. I watched him make my frittata, which I ordered with no mushrooms. I see him then realize I ordered no mushrooms and start picking them out. Long story short - the food was ok. The experience was horrible. Will I go back? Probably not. And I'm sorry to say that because my family loves breakfast and I wanted my son to try the ice cream waffles. But being embarrassed at a meeting with your customer doesn't warrant return visits. read more

I think I just had the best breakfast of my life here. Being in the resturant industry for 11 years and being an adventurous eater this place completely wowed me. I had the Bombay Crepes (chicken chorizo onion cheese spinach and mushrooms with a spicy cilantro sauce). The flavors were so delicious with perfect Crepes, soft but not soggy. The staff was friendly. You can see everything be prepared behind the counter, if you sit at the counter the chef is cooking a foot away from you.
