It wasn't more spectacular than anything I've tested before, but if it isn't disgusting, then I'm happy. My favorite part is all the seating available. My girlfriend and I are frequent customers at Turtle - we go almost every weekend. My girlfriend ordered a granola bar and due to wearing a mask and not being able to be heard well, she was given a different bar that unfortunately she couldn't eat because of a gluten allergy. The older barista who is usually very friendly took the bar back and slammed the new granola bar on the counter and just walked off. It was so rude to the point that we may never go back. read more

We've had two great experiences here. Service was fast and friendly, coffee was delicious, but most of all, the pastries are SOO good. Went here and get a cup of iced latte and (giant) chocolate chip cookies. The iced latte wasn't strong enough for me, but I believe it can be fixed by requesting additional shot. The cookie, however, is awesome. It is freshly baked in the kitchen and it has the perfect texture - crispy on the edge, chewy in the center. What a cute little coffee shop on Holman Road! I'm sorry I hadn't popped in here before now considering they've been open a few years now after taking the place of the old Tully's. They serve Caffe Vita and the coffee is tasty. All their drinks come with 2 shots which I appreciate. The prices seemed on the reasonable-ish side inching towards kind of spendy. It was $6.20 for my tall soy pumpkin spice latte and a drip coffee. I guess that is standard but I still can't believe how expensive the pumpkin lattes are (everywhere). The latte was very good. Much better than Starbucks' pumpkin spice latte in my opinion. I'll definitely be back! read more

Amazing customer service! I was welcomed in by two very sweet and genuine women. The coffee was perfect as was the food. The only thing that would make it better is switching out the egg patty with a fried egg. There's a tv and a cozy fireplace with books and magazines to peruse. I am kinda scared to write a review on this place because I am worried it will be discovered and flooded with people, stealing my perfect little piece of peace! So I do make my own espresso at home so I am kind of a latte snob and this place serves Cafe Vita which is awesome. I often get some Cafe del Sol ground for me at this coffee shop, but I can NEVER resist getting something to go even though I can go home and make it myself. There's tons of space, free wifi, nice little fireplace and even a computer to use. The staff is very friendly and so far I haven't gotten a crappy latte, which I would be very pissed about and the place wouldn't get 5 stars from this snob. read more

Great customer service! Even though I was just buying a cup of coffee from one of the cashiers I felt welcomed by both the cashiers, the place really has a friendly environment and great calm music. I will definitely come back. I thought Starbucks was great but I was wrong. This place is great because its a local shop. I spent the first year of this place's existence driving by it and not wanting to stop in for fear I was dealing with a church-funded coffee house. (I know, VERY open-minded of me, right? Funny thing is, I don't have a problem with the church at all.) I then spent the next year telling myself I would give it a shot and hope it would put a better taste in my mouth than some of the church-ran coffee shops I've experienced on the east side of the state (which tend to be ran shoddily) Man, time does fly. Flash back to 5 months ago. The wife and I have about HAD it with the inevitable disappointment each and every time we visit our neighborhood Starbuck's (Holman Rd.) Never a seat in the house, usually out of the bakery goods we always get and sometimes the lines can stretch 8-10 deep. As I would sometimes stand there in those lines, I would often daydream about owner Howard Shultz doing backstrokes in his money vault with a Seattle Supersonics jersey on and usually piss myself off even more. IT WAS TIME FOR A CHANGE, dammit! I had given several other local places a chance to wow me, but now it was time for the little coffee-house built on a Tully's corpse to rise like the Messiah on the Sabbath & put ol' Shultzie's monkeys to shame! After numerous impressive visits, Holy Grounds has slowly become our go-to spot and has freed us from the chore that our morning coffee time had become. It's true that the interior is basically the old Tully's that was in this location, but to me, that is just a plus. The setting is warm and fairly cozy; various seating options should cater to whatever mood you're in. The small "fireplace" inside is great for the cold winter months. 2 hightop tables by the windows are usually open and often times the best spots if you aren't in the mood to hunker down. As far as I can tell, it also looks like there is free Internet on the computer towards the back and it also looks like they may rotate local art throughout the storefront (although, this doesn't seem very consistent) They serve Caffe Vita, so if you ain't a fan.....definitely move on. I couldn't appreciate it more. Prices stay relatively close to Starbuck's prices, but you may notice their higher price point in the little things (such as charging you that extra shot in an Americano when 'bucks puts an extra in as standard.) Not too much to pay when you know your dollars are going to local business. Baristas have always been friendly and prompt throughout most of our visits. Some a little less-than-genuine, but nevertheless, never lacking in at least putting on the "game face". The only major beef I have with this place is their rag-tag, cluster of baked goods they usually have displayed. Their case always seems so depleted and scattered random doughnuts and bagels are just sort of thrown in there. I'm sure their par levels are low for cost control, but it's almost like they need a smaller bakery case to get rid of all that empty space. Oh yeah.....biggest disappointment is the assurance that they just buy their bagels next door at Safeway (I can see that crummy jalapeno bagel a mile away) I still order it, cuz' they will slather it with cream cheese for you and toast it on a panini press, which almost makes it excusable. So there you have it. I could have been writing my congressman, but instead I choose to tell you why you must change your coffee-worship by committing the ultimate sin: YES...DO IT....commit "coffee adultery" and cheat on your coffee house tomorrow!!!! I wandered into this place after finding a Free Coffee Card on a local bulletin board. It's a REALLY CLEAN Place with a lot to offer. The Pastries are VERY FRESH--they don't even serve day-old because they want to keep the quality up. The coffee is very good, and FAIR TRADE TOO. Whomever made the comment regarding "MOLD" is an obvious "Snipe"--that's the problem with free speech, there's always one... This is a GREAT Place to bring the kids, they have a kid's table complete with miniature chairs. There's a walk-up COMPUTER that's fast, has MS Word & Powerpoint, so you can do a little work on the side--and that's FREE! The Wi-Fi is FREE and unlike several other coffee shops, it's FAST! There's NO BIBLE READINGS here, no hidden agenda's. WIth a name like Holy Grounds, What did you think? This was another "BIKINI ESSPRESSO" shop? The service here is super great, baristas friendly and quick in the morning, I just really wish the coffee had been better. Vanilla soy latte wasn't the greatest from the first sip, my first thought was, "I don't think I like the syrup they use here..." but I tried to drink it anyway. Got to work and set my cup down for about 2 minutes while I put my lunch in the fridge, by the time I came back my whole drink had turned into chunky sludge! I showed up last weekend drenched from the record September rainstorm and was greeted with the options of egg nog and pumpkin spice latte. Sold! I ended up coming by a couple more times during the weekend to hang out, grab wifi, and relax between everything I had to do in Seattle. This place was accessible on the RapidRide D Line and close to where I had to be. There seemed to be adequate parking and tons of space--I'm surprised more people weren't there, but I guess this is the problem with starting a coffee shop in the city that gave rise to Starbucks. I keep searching for a coffee shop in Crown Hill - I guess I need to keep searching. I went here 2 times to make sure I got it right on the review. I mean, I read some nice things about this place. The barista had a permanent frown and seemed eager not to help me or even say "hello". I think she wore the same face since I was in the last time. I asked what they do best here and was told their mochas were good because they use girradelli chocolate. I guess it was OK, but not $4.35 for a 16oz mocha OK. While sitting at the dirty table watching other customers interact with the baristas I noticed that your treatment depended on weather or not you were recognized as being in before. If you were a regular and they liked you, you got a smile and a "what can I get you"? If they did not recognize you, you aren't even acknowledged. - wierd way to run a business. The rest of my time there they spent in the back room talking on their cell phones and not straightening up the place, even though they had pleanty of time to. I mean, I have been here for an hour and a half and they have only had 5 customers. Gee, i wonder why this place isnt more sucessful? :-) Good things about this place is they have a great variety of seating, a fireplace, games, books to read and free wi-fi. The business changed hands in September and is now Turtle Coffee, even though the sign says Holy Grounds at this writing. I've always received good food, coffee, and customer service here. With the change in ownership the burritos have gone away, which is a bit disappointing for me, as I was partial to the bean and rice burrito. But there are still good things here, and they won't be losing my business over this. I'm told that new menu items are in the works. read more

Sometimes the fireplace is lit -- I think HG used to be a Tully's. Plentiful wall sockets and power strips for laptops. Cons: Staff are often absent from behind counter -- just what are they doing in the back room? No variety in pastry case: Nordy Bars *again*? After 6PM, tends to be rather empty, but with the odd creepaziod and furtive type trickling through. Music often hipster-awful and too loud. Used to go here all the time when it wa Holy Grounds. It was a Sunday Morning staple for my kids and I. The staff is great, but the new owner is lacking in people skills. Prices went up and they now charge more for a grande than I would pay for a Veinte at Starbucks. My kids say that the quality of their hot coccoas has gone down too.. they don't want to go back... even I am thinking hard about whether I should go back. read more

Pretty much exactly the same as Tully's. If you weren't paying attention you probably wouldn't notice it's a different store. Same selection of pastries, etc., you know the drill. I think they use Cafe d'Arte for the coffee itself. Free Wi-Fi if you're into that that kind of thing. Is this place religious? I looked on Google and everything else with the name "Holy Grounds" is related to some church group, but I couldn't find anything about this particular Holy Grounds store. read more
