We sat in the bar late this afternoon on Labor day. The drinks were well done BUT I can honestly say we sat there & watched the worst service I have ever seen. Customers got a first drink, but waited a very long time for any others drinks, plates, or silverware to eat their meal that had just come out from the kitchen. The kitchen food was never brought out to the right customers. One bartender talked constantly, the other wouldn't look at anyone. Neither of them picked up a plate or wiped anything. They definitely didn't do any of the stacks of glasses piling up. The only one working this afternoon was Tae (I hope I spelled her name right). She was the ONLY one working hard this afternoon & we appreciated her. We won't be back for a very long while. read more

The reason I went to this restaurant was the website menu said that they had Osso bucco but they did not. Valet parking was $25 and we were there for 1 hour. I found everybody from the valet to the host to the wait staff to be rather rude. Not to mention that the food was extremely overpriced. My wife and I dined at Tuscan Kitchen on Tuesday evening this week and both enjoyed the Octopus as an appetizer, which was cooked to perfection. My wife had the Chilean Sea Bass and I enjoyed the Branzino so much so that I didn't leave any left to take home with us. The cocktails we ordered were superb and the atmosphere was vibrant, even for a Tuesday evening. Our Waitress, Heather, was very attentive to our needs during the experience. So we have been here many times, the first time the new place opened we went in and sat at the bar, and no one came over to greet us for a good 20-30 minutes even though there were 5 bartenders on at the time. We ended up walking out! I received a call from the manager promising me a great "customer service experience". I do not believe he is there anymore after asking for him. We went the other night, sat at the bar, waited a good 5-7 minutes before a very uninterested bartender handed us menus and my husband had to ask that the bar be washed down as there was food on the bar. She then made the drinks and dropped them off with no personal interaction. A few girls came over and ordered martinis that clearly were not full pours and were very upset, but they didn't say anything just didn't leave a tip. It's too bad the service is so bad here because it's a beautiful place. Very overpriced though for the very unprofessional experience. We got 2 appetizers, 2 drinks, dessert and spent a good amount of $. It makes me sad because this place could be so much better if only, they worked on customer service. I ate last night (8/31) with my family at Tuscan Kitchen in Salem, NH. The food was pricey, service was slow and food was ok. What really bothered me and my family was the way they cleaned the table after a customer left. The food from the table was swept on the ground and we had to watch a new customer come to that table and walk through/step on all the food on the ground as they sat down. It was a case of not spending the time to properly clean the table. Tuscan Kitchen needs to do a better job training their employees. It will be a long time before i go back. read more

We had dinner for eight and made a reservation. We got there a few minutes early to check in. We weren't seated until 15 minutes after our reservation time, even though the table that we were sitting at was available to seat us because I saw the table set up when I walked in. The wait staff was lovely, although a little disorganized. Our drinks did not come out all at one time, and some of the alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages came out about 20 minutes after the wine. The bolognese was very good but $28 for pasta? Seabass was way too salty as was the risotto. All you tasted was the salt. The scallops were very good and apparently the steak that three in our party had was outstanding. You seriously don't have to salt things that much. I woke up bloated. First visit (had visited the old location a few times). Had a pre-dinner drink at the bar, service was excellent, and best expresso martini I've ever had. My wife had the Tuscan Mini which was a winner - the basil added to the mix of flavors in a very good way. The restaurant decor is trendy. All the staff (from the front of the house to the waitstaff) are friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. Megan (our server) was very knowledgeable, easy to chat with, and gave some great suggestions. It was a birthday celebration (mine). My wife started with Ricotta Gnudi - it was fantastic, with great flavors, a mouth feel, and plenty of table-side bread to sop up the fonduta, wow! I had the Carciofi which also was excellent, with great flavors and pine nuts added to the dish. We both had Tagliatelle al Tartufo which was very special. Our chef, Cassandra explained the process, and we shared a few laughs and waited (almost) patiently for her to finish preparation. Wow, what a dish. No room for dessert but a cappuccino each to close out. Also really appreciate the nice touch to pour wine by the glass from the bottle. Service by the staff was timely but not intrusive and we felt free to linger. The only downer was the noise level (not untypical of many stateside restaurants) - what with the high ceilings and many larger groups, it was noisier than I liked. Well done, congratulations on the new great location. Our favorite Italian is Mike's Italian Kitchen (Nashua) - different style and more intimate but this is a well-earned tie (5 star) for us! read more

One of the most bizarre dining experiences I've had. Was in the area in need of a late lunch and saw this was nearby. Place was packed at 230pm on a Sunday so ended up having to wait 45 min to be seated. They originally told us 30 min so it was a disappointment to wait longer. We had been to another Tuscan Kitchen previously and both the service and food were great with a cozy ambiance. This location felt like NH was trying to replicate some sort of weird NYC vibe. The music was something you'd hear at a club with house music and I didn't realize the Real Housewives franchise was creating a Salem, NH show until I saw what the clientele here was wearing. Apparently blazer dresses and feathers are standard attire on a Sunday afternoon at Tuscan Kitchen, not just bachelorettes and reality tv. The service was fine, but not what I would expect with the prices. Was also bummed that we weren't informed that the bolognese wasn't served with Parpadelle (as listed in the menu). It was served with rigatoni which not even the server commented on at any point. The food was good but didn't stand up to the other location we dined at. So I went to the new venue in the Artisan Hotel, we had a dinner with colleagues, my wife attended as well. They took so long to bring food, drinks and to check in that we complained. We were told by the manager that they time dishes for more laid back, remind you probably not the best strategy for drinks... but we were complaining so obviously they timed it wrong. Also, no drinks. We ordered our entrees at 6:30pm, they didn't come out until 9:30pm. Yes you read that right. My wife, who's a diabetic, left before her entree came. My boss's boss asked to see the manager and was asked for some kind of accommodation, which the manager said they couldn't! I've never heard anything so ridiculous, so we finish our entrees and are waiting for the check and they bring dessert out as a concession, one problem they never asked us if we wanted dessert and remind you it's past 10pm at this point. It was so poorly handled, that when I stay at the Artisan I refuse to go to the restaurant. Talk about falling off, the old restaurant was so different, we loved it because they were so accommodating, we went there all the time. Now you couldn't pay me to go back. read more

Got bar seats right away on a Friday at 7. 5 bartenders on, the one that greeted us didn't smile, and asked "do you need anything" when she approached. Not warm or friendly at all. We ordered our drinks. And about 15 minutes later an app. Everything seemed to take forever. The second bartender with the Mohawk was great, very sweet and friendly, actually made conversation. He was the one to take our app order, got us bread. I took 2 sips of my wine and a fly flew in it and died. It took 11 minutes for me to get a bar tenders attention to have someone get me a new one. We got bread and a plate of olives? I believe it was supposed to have oil but no one poured oil in ours. Not the end of the world, we used the sauce from our app. We were finally asked if we wanted "anything else" about an hour in by a third even less friendly bartender. We ordered our entrees and my husbands was not correct, we were hungry at this point so he ate it, but not a single bar tender checked in on how our food was, or if we needed anything. He ordered the mushroom raviolis, and then the food runner dropped it off they said "4 cheese raviolis". Didn't even wait for me to turn around and they were gone. I checked our bill, which was weirdly placed right in front of us. (This is not something you see at a full service restaurant) and it was listed as Quattro formaggi ravioli, which isn't even listed on the menu lol He genuinely didn't want to wait for a new dish considering how long everything was taking. I had to ask for a dessert menu, nothing was offered. The affogato for here and espresso cake to go, took another 15 minutes. Very slow. Spent $170, not worth even half that in my opinion. This type of money spent I would think the service would be much more elevated and refined. Water service when you seat, bread service offered, courses to be timed and correct even. This was forgettable at best, unfortunate, and we are not likely to return for a while. read more

We will never go back. Tuscan Kitchen has officially "jumped the shark". Joe has become the Fonz. Too much growth & greed has lead to terrible food quality and dishonest management. I held off writing a review in hopes that they would rectify a RUINED memorial tribute to my father. $ 3000.00+ later... the food was cold and atrocious. I haven't been to the new location since they moved to Tuscan Village but it was horrible. Went over the weekend during Fall Fest. We were just going to get some drinks and a few appetizers. There was no wait and we were sat right away. Then we waited and waited and waited. No one came over at all. We waited at least 15 minutes without being acknowledged at all. The atmosphere is nice with it being inside a market and has a large square shaped bar right next to it while you wait, but the food was average for the price. I had the worst meatballs I've ever eaten anywhere at this place. I don't even know how to describe it other than it seemed like it was a vegan meatball. The service was sub par at best - she never once came back to our table after serving the food. For an upper class place, it was a disappointment. It's a beautiful location inside and out. The bar was lively and we had a cocktail before lunch. We had a 3:00 reservation for a late lunch/early dinner. It was fine. Not anything special, especially for the price. I likely won't return. We ordered a few appetizers (calamari, salumi & formaggio plate, and a beet with goat cheese salad) as well as a beer and glass of wine. It took forever to get our drinks, and when they did come, he brought my husband the wrong beer. (A stout instead of an IPA) The salad came quickly, but then nothing came out after that. At one point the waiter came and asked us if we had gotten our food, or bread. We said no, just the salad. He left, then came back and asked us what we had ordered. It wasn't busy at 3, so that wasn't the issue. The salad was good. The calamari aioli was tasty, but the calamari itself was kind of soggy. Not crispy like fried calamari should be. The salami and cheese plate was okay (although in pictures it had four cheeses and was on a long board. Ours only had two cheeses and was on a tiny plate). After that we split the short rib ravioli. It was just eh. Not bad, but not great either. It said it was in a red wine reduction, but it looked and tasted like thin, brown gravy. The ravioli also lacked seasoning. We were pretty disappointed in the service, especially because there were only a few tables occupied and a lot of people working. Overall, the ambiance was nice, but the service and food was a miss. So I knew I wanted the Four Cheese Raviolis with Mushrooms on top (I get them and add shrimp) so the special that night happened to be Mushroom Raviolis, and I mentioned to the waitress, now I need to decide which ones to get as their were two, she was like we dont have other Mushroom ones, and then proceeded to argue with me - UM... Ive been ordering them for years, Then I realized the difference the ravioli itself wasnt mushroom but the mushrooms all over the top of them was what I meant, but I understood the difference now, but in my mind I was DONE!!! No reason to argue with a customer, I get what you THOUGHT I meant, but yeah - the debate and her tone didnt need to happen, so I ordered the special one because she guilted me into them but they were the best thing ever... and I probably wont come back to this location because she just turned me off from here, but I will def continue to visit Tuscan Kitchen because the food is PHENOMENAL! We want to love Tuscan Kitchen, but each time we give them another opportunity they fail to meet expectations in new and creative ways. Tonight we had a wonderful server but the food was terrible and rather than make it right the chef essentially argued that it was cooked perfectly. Tonight I was served very undercooked scallops that tasted raw and fishy. The server took it back and the Executive Chef explained that they cook to a perfect medium rare and that they checked and the scallops were perfect and perhaps I should order something else. I found this to be an odd response, but I played along and ordered filet which they brought to me 15 minutes later as my wife ate her meal while I waited and then brought a poorly seasoned steak with the wrong sides and took nothing off the bill and offered nothing to improve our experience. This place charges a premium price for poorly executed dishes served in a beautiful facility. Standards should be higher and customer satisfaction should matter, but sadly the only thing consistent about this restaurant is their inconsistency. Please do better Tuscan. read more

I have to say, I was a little thrown off as I read the Yelp reviews before heading to Tuscan Kitchen. My boyfriend and I had plans their for our six year anniversary. I decided to give it a chance even though reviews were not great. We made a reservation and my boyfriend made a comment in the reservation that we were celebrating an anniversary. We didn't necessarily expect anything free but an acknowledgement would have been a nice touch. we've been to other places who have gone above and beyond with nice touches. We got the grilled octopus, brassato di cingh the haddock. The food was generally decent/ok. Not amazing, not bad though. The service was a little slow. I didn't mind because I didn't have anywhere to be, but it did take them a while to come get our drink order (we were outside and it wasn't that busy). We ended up being there for two hours. Just a bit slower than one might expect. When checking out, we had a Phantom Gourmet gift card that's supposed to be accepted. They were having some issues with the machine I guess, so I guess they were trying to contact Phantom Gourmet about it with no solution. I did look up the gift card while the waitress was there to show her the balance was $100. We felt that they should have accepted it since we showed them live that it had a balance but instead we ended up putting the full amount on the credit card. We ordered more than we would have based on the gift card, so it was disappointing that they wouldn't do anything like that. All that said.. the food is decent. I don't feel like many restaurants in this area are going to knock your socks off. Would I return? No. read more

Came to Tuscan kitchen on a Sunday night for a late dinner. We were unfortunately those people who showed up at 8:37pm when they closed at 9 but they still sat us at a high top in the bar area. Table was comfy, restaurant was empty, TVs on with the celts game playing. There's outdoor seating. The bathrooms are a trip down the stairs and a hallway. Put out order in quickly because we knew what we wanted. Onion bread and olive oil came to the table while we waited for our meals. I got the Toscana salad no ricotta, can't wait until I can eat cheese again because it would definitely compliment this salad. I also got a side of brown butter sage sweet potato, amazing! We had dinner here last night. We were seated a a bad table that was freezing and waited an hour for an actual drink. We asked for the heat to be turned on and it was for a while and then it wasn't. We finally were offered a new table in the restaurant. The waitstaff person was nice but really bad at service. She forgot our appetizer, we had to go get our drinks from the old table,, never came over to offer to get new drinks. The food was horrible pasta was really bad and really over priced. Our plates were never cleared by our server and we had to ask random people passing by if they would take them. The place was packed so no need to worry about customer service. They did bring us one dessert to make up for the horrible experience! I will tell as many people as I can about our rotten horrible ridiculous experience. read more
