Guys, for the love of god.... please fix the service issues. I've been coming here for 10+ years, love the pizza, burgers and beer. Fun place to watch games and hang out. I come at LEAST once a week for lunch during the week. Sometimes its busy, most of the time it's pretty laid back. Last week it took me 20 minutes to get a beer after I was seated at a table and there were probably 10 people in the restaurant. Week before that it took about 40 mins to get some chili fries, again with hardly anyone in the place or on the patio. And then another 10 mins to get some ranch and another 15 mins to get a refill on my beer. The servers are all very very nice, but man, it's is like watching grass grow. I find myself CONSTANTLY looking for my server to order another drink, get some water, need some plates, ranch, napkins, silverware etc etc etc. I came for dinner last night with my fiance and we waited a solid 15 mins to get a refill on her water after the server dropped off food, and then another 10 minutes to put in a drink order for me, and then another 10 minutes to actually get that drink. Again, there were a few people in the place at 4pm on a Sunday, but not that many. The actual bar was half-full. I don't know if there are not enough servers (seems like there are plenty) or if they all spend too much time hanging out by the kitchen telling jokes or playing with their kids or not enough bartenders (likely?), but dude it is starting to wear on me and making me not want to keep coming here. I gave Tustin Brewery another shot since moving closer to the area and had awesome service and great food. I've been back over a dozen times and have been met with outstanding service. The garlic bread and Jason's salad are 2 of my favorites (I get the salad tossed with their buffalo sauce, which is great). They have a ton of TVs as well so it's great if you want to watch a game of pretty much any sport. It can get a bit loud during certain sporting events so if that bothers you just be aware, particularly during NFL season and playoffs of any major sport. read more

This is a no-frills, neighborhood watering hole, with excellent food. While they have awesome burgers, pizza and appetizers (onion rings, chicken wings and the like), they also have incredible salads and entrees (like the baked salmon). Their beer selection is also very solid and always consists of their own beer and other local brews. Also: Their BBQ sauce and ranch dressing is some of the best I've ever had. Prices are very reasonable! I would knock one star off because the service could be improved. I give Tustin Brewery 4 stars because I literally crave their Chopped Salad, Ahi appetizer and Steak tacos. I come here for lunch regularly and have used them to cater business lunches (salads and pizzas). I find the staff to be friendly and love that I can get a table and efficient service at lunch anytime. It's not a fancy place, it's more your neighborhood bar type at atmosphere. I came to Tustin Brewing with a group of friends to watch one of the NBA playoff games -- we had a great time! FOOD: I ordered the traditional wings and boy they were HOT! After two or three wings it was alright but after the eighth wing, my nose was super runny. Their amber ale was great! My friends had the milk stout -- it's not my thing. LOCATION: It's a pretty big place with a long bar. We came on a Friday night so it was pretty busy. The parking lot can get tricky with this being a busy strip mall. SERVICE: It's a bar, don't expect stellar service. It wasn't bad service though. The server was attentive and helpful when it came to recommending drinks. Will I come back? Yeah! This place has really gone downhill recently. I have coming here for almost 20 years, but, not anymore. 3 weeks ago, I called in an order for pickup, when I got home it was wrong, I called to complain, and all I was told was, "Sorry", no attempt to make things right. Tonight I went in, sat down, waited for 10 minutes, nothing. No one took a drink order, nothing. I went to the front to complain, and some kid just gave me a stupid look. I have frequented TBC various times and usually the service is pretty spotty, but this time, it was actually decent. Surprising! The beer selection rotates and varies from ciders to IPA's, which is a good spread for everyone. The food is mediocre with decent portions for the price, however their chili cheese fries do stand out. On this Monday Night, I was watching the Clemson Alabama game and my party had each ordered a beer and entree. At the end of our meal, trivia night started - around the same time we paid our tab. So after tipping and signing the receipt, we decided to stay to have some fun. Unfortunately, we were informed that there was a 2 item minimum to sit at the table to play trivia as other people were waiting for tables to play... (there were seats still open) I sat there starstruck as if I did not previously order anything and was just freeloading a night of trivia. Maybe next time, I should eat slower so I can enjoy some football and trivia all together... or just not come back. I think it'll be the latter. read more

Meh, all around just not very impressive. I asked the waiter if I should get pizza or wings and she without blinking she immediately said pizza. The pizza took over 25 minutes to come out - the crust was BLACK but the entire rest of the "edible" part was straight up raw/soggy dough :( I would have said something but she never came back to check on us so I just dipped the burnt crust in ranch and ate that since I was hungry. Then she took my pile of mess which was obviously not enjoyed and didn't ask about it either. I didn't have the energy at that point to even bother her with it, I feel like it would have accomplished nothing. Just things like this I take note of so some improvement to service could be nice :) My friends like it though so if we end up back here again I am willing to reevaluate it. I'm torn. The wings and beer selection are great here. But the customer service leaves you confused. My friend placed his card at the bar for a tab, and got a beer for both of us. While seated in the bar area, I got the attention of a waitress, and ordered wings, plus another beer. I told her simply: "please put these on my card" and handed her it. Shortly after, his card was brought back from the bar, and I was charged for every, single, thing. Three drinks, and the wings. I'm not quite sure what happened, I'm not planning on returning. The beer is great. The service is terrible! This is our second visit and we will not be back. Had to flag down a waitress, after sitting for at least 10 minutes, who apparently was not ours and was extremely rude while telling us she was not our waitress. She reluctantly took our drink orders AND THEN our waitress came by. And our waitress only came by when our drinks were empty, if we were lucky. So we started ordering a fresh beer when she brought the other one we ordered. So if you do choose to visit this place, just sit at the bar so you MAY get your drink served in a timely fashion. They have a good beer selection and rotate in and out a wide variety of guest beers. Their own beers are pretty good. The Old Town IPA is their best beer and I recommend trying it. The food is pretty good. I've shared the sausage platter before with a group because I read about it in OC Weekly a while back. For lunch the seared ahi burger is my go too. The salmon is always on point as well. Last time there I had a delicious BBQ chicken salad. I use to be a local here until I had a bad service experience with one of the waitresses and her manager. I think the waitresses are arrogant and rude. The bartenders and brewers are nice though. The reason this place gets a low rating from me is because of the bad bad service I received. I refuse to go here any longer and it's sad for me because I work so close to them. read more

I've been to tustin brewing company more times than I care to count. I am astonished to see people calling their food mediocre and I CANNOT BELIEVE anyone could say that their beer selection is 'ok'. What kind of people are you!? They have THE BEST beer of anywhere in the area. Not only are their own beers brewed there phenomenal, but they have beer you'd have to drive 2 hours to get from ALPINE, a brewery who makes some of the best beer I have ever had. If ever there was a need for an update this is it! Total redo on the food I can't speak highly enough for it. My favorite are the chicken skewers. I'm almost addicted to him they're crispy wonderful flavor and it comes with a slaw that has a kick to it. I'm always down for this. The other item are the ribs you can't match those sweet Tangy small bites small plate of these, you're full. You just have to go there and see the new menu and try it for yourself. It's been totally revamped and re-tooled. If you hear that the chef is barbecuing you better get there the next day as quickly as you can because that brisket is going to be gone in a Flash! The beer is still solid though Jared the former Brewer is gone the recipes are the same. My only reason for the lower star rating is it's so noisy in there. Right now with all the sports teams coming in little Lakers You couldn't possibly hold a conversation and hear each other. Great service but the food was horrible. I ordered the calamari appetizer. Not appetizing at all. It looked like chicken nuggets, and tasted like a chewy rubber chicken. For my main course, I ordered the chicken caliente penne. Horrible! It came out looking like soup. My penne was swimming in a bowl of watery reddish liquid and the chicken resembled styrofoam. My friend ordered the Santa Fe chicken salad. Seemed like such a safe choice but TBC managed to ruin a salad. Again, the chicken resembled styrofoam. Maybe a dog chew toy at its best. The dressing was bland. No flavor in the salad whatsoever. We were drinking too so I imagine any food would taste like Mastro's when I'm inebriated. But nope. My confession: I have an obsession with beer. Probably an unhealthy one too. If you mention beer in your plans, I'll cancel whatever other plans I have to be there with you. And this, my friends, is how I decided to try Tustin Brewing Company. The boy was over yesterday to visit me. He probably has more of an unhealthy obsession with beer than I do, so I figured this would be the best place for us to have a late lunch/early dinner. We walked in around 3:30pm on a Saturday. Right off the bat, I knew I'd love this place. It was loud and crowded, but not rowdy. A college basketball game was on and playing on multiple HUGE screens. You could see where they brew the beer. It was semi dark inside. The whole vibe of this place was just plain fun and cool. I like it. Actually, I love it! They offered a handful of brews that they brewed themself. The boy and I ordered a pitcher of the Golden Spike Light Ale since we are both fans of light beers. A pitcher is $14, but both of us easily had 2.5 glasses each--which is enough for me to become a tipsy, laughing, hic-uping, hot mess. The beer was so good, I absolutely LOVED it! It was light enough for me and had a kind of crisp taste to it. I noticed they also had some IPA's, some Ales, a Porter and a Hefeweizen beer so that all you beer loves will be happy at this joint! If you don't like beer, they also have a wine list for you to pick from. But, honestly, come here for the beer! It won't disappoint. For our meal we ordered the BBQ Chicken Pizza. It was $10.95 and big enough for each of us to have three pieces each. The pizza was equaly as great as the beer! The BBQ sauce had a spicey kick to it, which I loved. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Crust wasn't too thick or too thin. It's making my taste buds water right now just thinking about it. Service was outstanding. Our waitress was just plain great. I've been here 3 times because its close to my work and when there is a Dodger game on TV during work hours, my contract requires me to be watching it. I've had the BBQ Chicken pizza (not cooked enough, the cheese wasn't fully melted and the sauce had more heat than I like), the pulled pork sandwich (same BBQ sauce but fit better on this messy sandwich) and the Hickory Burger. You know how some reviews start out with "this is for the...."? Well, this review is for the beer. Didn't get anything to eat after my earlier adventures of the day. This is big place, with a couple of huge screens (on that is 8 x 12) and a total of 14 TVs throughout (decided to count). It seems family oriented and like it has a great local following. The Masters was on TV and Tiger was nipping at the heels. It was amusing to hear a bunch of white dudes cheering in Korean. It has cute waitresses (one of whom is Korean, duh) and it seemed like family. The bartendress, however, was of no help in identifying my favorite beers. She got better as I started to quiz her, though. Started off with a tasty double IPA (their own), then the Pliney & Elder Red River (nice hoppy IPA that wasn't identified for me prior), and then the Hop Heaven (a cask conditioned and room temperature IPA and was the best of the bunch). So, after hitting the gym and feeling a bit gluttonous (thats right, we had to have a drink after going to the gym, what?!), my friend and I stumbled upon this place via Yelp. I just moved to Tustin so I wasn't aware of what was right up the street from me. Thankfully Yelp provided direction to this awesome place. They have a great beer selection here, from the home brews TBC has to offer, to the fine craft brews on rotation. I really love that they rotate Russian River brews here often, such a great brew. The definitely have a heavy pour on their liqour as well, not shy. The food is pretty tasty too! I have tried the Calamari and the ahi tuna, both were great. The Calamari is fried and delicious and it comes with this marinara sauce that's kind of spicy and sweet at the same time that totally goes with it. Not too mention its fried so yeah, its going to taste good with beer. The staff is really nice as well, they recognize my friend and i when we come in and are always friendly. What a big disappointment. I was deciding whether to try this brewing company or go to a seafood restaurant, and I should have chosen the latter. My friend and I decided to come here because they had all night happy hour on the Thursday.. plus we both love beer. The food wasn't good - we ordered their TBC Chicken Wings (too dry), Calamari Fritta (this was the best out of all the dishes), and the Jalapeno Poppers. We also got the various beer selection - Golden Spike Light Ale, Lemon Heights Hefeweizen, and Red Hill Red. None of them stood out to me. Disappointed with both the food and beer, I ended up ordering a mixed drink - forgot the name but that was GOOD! So the two stars is basically for that. Probably won't be returning. read more

I have to start off by saying that I'm a little biased because I had the good fortune of getting to hang out with Jason (the owner) and Andy (the brewer) BEFORE returning here after a 3+ year hiatus... When I used to frequent this place back in the day I just wasn't impressed at all with anything they had to offer -- beers, food, service, whatnot. However, this has become our new Hollingshead (see my early reviews) alternative and I really like it... I'm a member of the Mug Club :) Andy's done a great job of revamping the beers and catering to the tastes of actual beer connoisseurs (I'm not saying I am one, but the people I kick it with really are). It's true that over the past few years, local beer drinker tastes have become much more sophisticated, and that's definitely what's become of TBC as far as beer is concerned. The menu is so-so -- you really can't go wrong with a pizza here, although I still feel that the happy hour prices are not as "happy hour-ish" as they could be -- but damn good enough when you're happily drinking away. The service has also improved tenfold since last I used to patronize this joint. Maybe I am just used to the lack of service at my other hangout (ok, I will update my Hollingshead review), but everybody here is quick to help you out. It doesn't matter if it's Jason, a lovely server, or a hardworking busboy -- everyone as I've seen is really on the ball and the improvement shows. Overall this is a chill place to come for a later hangout. You can see this by the numerous softball teams that come and kick it after their respective games. The ambience is very restaurant-esque and they have a great outdoor patio. Now I haven't been here on a Friday or Saturday evening, when I'm sure they're filled to the brim, but I can definitely vouch for all the other days of the week (when they have killer drink and/or food specials!) This joint is for sure worth checking out. ETA 9/13/08: 1) Matt the manager is just about the coolest guy on the planet. Yes, they are open for outside dining. They are adhering to waiters and servers with mask and tables that are separated by at least 6 feet. There's no indoor dining. They have tenting in the parking lot along with their normal outdoor seating. There are some heaters, butbring a warm jacket for most of the areas have no heaters. I came here after a hike at Peter's Canyon and thought their beer selection was awesome! It was a perfect way to refuel. Of course being the girly girl that I am, I ordered the Fruli Belgian White Strawberry Ale. 70% white ale and 30% pure strawberry juice. So refreshing and fruity! Not for the hardcore beer drinkers. More for the "I want to drink a beer..but not really" kind of people. Food wise, I ordered a bowl of their Award Winning Chili (winner of the Tustin Chili cook-off) and it was very good. Nice chunks of beef and a little kick that sneaks up on you. Not too spicy though, but there's a slight kick. I was not a fan of the bread that comes with it though. It's a little too sweet for me. It looked like raisin bread, but I don't think that was it. My friend had the appetizer platter that included potato skins, garlic pizza bread slices, mozzarella sticks, wings, and calamari. The only things on that platter that were worth eating were the wings and mozzarella sticks. The calamari didn't even look like calamari. Potato skins were nothing like TGI Fridays'. I would stay clear from this platter and just order the wings or mozzarella sticks on their own. I think this would be a great place to share a pitcher of beer and catch a game. They have lots of tvs and always have sports channels on. Not a lot of food choices beyond the standard burgers, salads and appetizers. We came here on an extended happy hour night, and it totally reminded me of Sudwerks, the old college brew restaurant from my old stomping grounds. And thats a good thing really, the beer was interesting, and the food was pretty tasty bar food. I liked seeing the game projected on the gigantic big screen and the atmosphere was pretty micro-brew feeling. Been here before but its been a while, not sure if things have changed, maybe I remember it better than it was, or maybe it was just an off day for them but whatever the reason it wasn't as good as my previous visits. The location and outside of the building are deceiving. It looks like nothing cool but its actually really nice inside. The brick walls are really pretty and the restaurant and bar a good size. They have TV's everywhere so its a fun spot to watch some sports. The service was a little slow on this visit and overall average. My french dip was just boring and didn't really seem to have any seasoning. I did like the Lemon Heights Hefeweizen that I drank. It was refreshing and had a nice light lemon flavor. read more

I've had bad service once but they did give us a discount on our drinks. I don't blame them though. They just weren't on the ball. It happens. Perhaps if you enjoy drinking beer this is the place.
