I topped it with a few strawberries and a little bit of kiwi. My cup cost almost $13! When I asked about the price, guy behind the counter kindly pointed to the price, and apparently, it's $.89 an ounce. Here you have some of the better Bubble Tea in the Triangle area, from a spot which is a chain that is all over the place, especially the Mid Atlantic and South. It's not the best, hence the rating, but it's pretty good nevertheless. Nice Black Milk tea, enjoyable, and nice service too. On Friday afternoon's when I'm out and about running errands, I love to stop at Tutti Frutti, for some awesome yogurt! You get to build your own, there are many flavors to choose from, quite a few organic choices as well. What's even better is the bar that with all sorts of toppings, I usually get cherries, Heath bar crunch, and Hot Fudge, but there is a huge selection of toppings that most will difficult to decide what to get, but guess what? You can have as many as you like! It's just a sunny happy place, and I love to go there on my afternoon adventures! read more

"Strong new arrival in the Durham fro-yo scene" Fairly new Local Yogurt (LY) has dominated the Durham fro-yo scene, but the arrival of Tutti Frutti (and close to the LY store) likely has the LY owners quaking. This store looks A LOT like Yopop (formerly, Orange Leaf) in Chapel Hill. Bright colored walls, and tons of self-serve yogurt flavors and toppings from which to choose. Apparently, word got out fast about this place, as it was PACKED on a Friday evening. What do they have? Almost easier to answer what they DON'T have. I mixed four flavors into one bowl- plain/ tart, pistachio, oreo, and death-by-chocolate. They had lots of flavors I didn't try: papaya, raspberry, strawberry, red velvet cake, cheesecake, and more. For toppings, I went simple with just white chocolate chips and mango pieces. However, they also had tons of options there- popping boba, tons of berries, mochi, cereals, other chocolate chips, and much, much more. The procedure is simple- fill the bowl with whatever you want, they weigh the bowl, and you pay $0.39/ ounce. The bowls are BIG, so it'd be easy to lose track and get a ton, so watch out. The yogurts (and toppings) were outstanding- every one of them was absolutely delicious. I really like LY's plain/ tart, but I actually think the Tutti Frutti one is even better. Service was friendly, too, though really they are just working the registers and refilling items. What I love about Tutti Frutti relative to Local Yogurt- 1) way more flavors, 2) you control the exact amount, and 3) frankly, LY sometimes skimps on the toppings even after charging an absurd $0.75 for the first one. Here, you can put as much as you want, and as many different types as you want without the high price. My whole family got a generous amount of fro-yo here for under $10, and I don't think that'd happen at LY. The negative to Tutti Frutti- it is a chain, whereas Local Yogurt is locally owned and operated. Weigh that as you like. No pun intended. read more

Today is the grand opening for Tutti Frutti! Stop by through 10:00 tonight and you can get a 12oz cup of frozen yogurt filled with the toppings of your choice for $1.00 + tax. Being the froyo addict that I am of course we stopped by today. I loaded up my cup with blueberry, cheesecake, and cookies and cream. A few brownie pieces and some mochi to top it off and I was ready to start indulging! The blueberry was a bit tart for my liking but the cheesecake tasted well like cheesecake and the cookies and cream was probably my favorite. The brownies were fresh and the mochi tasted like mochi. I also tried out a few sample cups of green tea (tasted like great tea but just a little sweet), original tart (way to sour for more liking), coconut (yum!!), and peanut butter (like frozen Jiff!). My husband had some of the death by chocolate which was a major disappointment as it wasn't really chocolaty so definitely no fear of death by chocolate here. I think they need to work on a few of their flavors but overall I was quite impressed with the quality of their froyo and the quantity. They had at least 8-10 flavors and it looks like they will have that many daily. The location is great. Ample parking and enough space inside to accommodate those who want to stay and enjoy their froyo. I have been off the Local Yogurt bandwagon for a while (I like the self serve better, move flavors and more toppings) now as I've been driving 20 minutes to Skinny Dip in Cary to satisfy my cravings but I'm definitely moving Tutti Frutti to the top of my Durham/Chapel Hill/RTP froyo list. I don't understand places like this, nor the hoards of college girls and moms that flock to them, but it was so bright and cute... I'm thinking, maybe it's different... It's not. Anyway, it seemed like maybe a good idea in comparison to driving all the way out to Goodberry's for some real deal ice cream on a Sunday night after some salty Only Burger goodness. So the good points. Lots of flavors that apparently change out and lots of indoor and outdoor seating. It's a cute establishment and they have Ghirardelli syrups. You go to get in line, a line that stretches around the restaurant to the door. You get a bowl that would easily be at least a pint and a half big, which seems just... a bit much. Oh, but there's one double that size too. So you're in line, passing flavors as is everyone else is in front of you, and there's a lot of people moving in and out just to see the flavors you're standing in front of, and visa versa. The line is not quick moving, which also seems like a bad idea, given the fact that frozen items do not stay frozen for 20 minutes. And there's a huge bottleneck at the toppings section. The major issue here is that the space is too small for what they've got going here, and the way they're doing it doesn't exactly work well. Basically, if they're busy, you'll wish you'd gone to Local Yogurt for the same thing. As for the actual flavors: I got the pineapple, raspberry and cheesecake. The cheesecake is a winner. The pineapple was super tart, which, if I had chocolate toppings would have rocked. The raspberry tasted like unnatural flavorings. Again with the toppings, the bottleneck on toppings makes for a chaotic salad bar situation with all the tongs and scoops that I really just have to cross my fingers and try not to pay attention to. I know there's a ton of raves here, but I really just like feeling like it's possible that the machines MIGHT be taken care of (because there aren't 14 of them being touched by a thousand people and kids a day) and the topping situation along with the line was a real turnoff. This review is about the Tutti Frutti bubble tea. I was surprised to find that Tutti Frutti served bubble tea and even more surprised to find that it's actually really good. I'm even tempted to say that it's one of the best bubble tea locations in the Triangle. So there's an assortment of either milk bubble tea or slush bubble tea (smoothie consistency). The milk bubble teas have the traditional tea flavors such as taro, jasmine, thai, and regular black milk tea, while the slush contains more Americanized options like vanilla latte or cookies & cream. I've tried both the regular and the slush options. I LOVE the regular milk teas here. They actually remind me of the authentic milk teas I got in Taiwan. Really great combination of tea flavor and milk (99% sure they use real milk rather than powdered, which is already a plus compared to other bubble tea locations in the area). The slush bubble teas taste more like milkshakes with bubbles inside. Nothing too special about these. I would definitely recommend the regular milk teas over the slush ones. The slush bubble teas can have the sugar level altered while the regular milk teas cannot. But what really sets apart Tutti Fruitti bubble tea from the rest is the bubbles themselves! They are actually marinated in some kind of syrup, so the bubbles are bursting with flavor! The texture is great for the bubbles too - the perfect amount of chewiness. How can I not love Tutti Frutti? More flavors, more toppings, minimal interaction with people when I'm greedily filling my cup (and avoiding judgment), and excellent quality - I'm sold. I was terribly disappointed that neither taro nor pomegranate were there, but I highly enjoyed lychee & raspberry. I think that my taste tends towards more tart, yogurt-like flavors, so I really loved those particular flavors. I didn't like banana quite as much, and I thought chocolate & birthday cake were good, but pretty ordinary. This is one of the older self-serve fro-yo places in Durham. They are brightly lit, convenient to my house (ha!) and always have a delicious selection. I try to steer clear of the fruit since the sneeze-guard isn't very low and I have seen some kids get all up in there. There's never a terrible time for Froyo, and I absolutely LOVE this place. It's definitely got a great variety, with different flavors on a daily basis. I love froyo, especially the self-serve places where you can mix and match all the flavors and just dump on all the toppings you want. The end result is not pretty but tastes amazing. I tried the mocha latte, speculoos cookie, and cookies and cream flavors, and all were tasty, but pretty mild. The fruit toppings are easy to spot but I almost missed the nuts and chocolate which are in separate containers. Tutti Frutti's my favorite Frozen Yogurt back home in MD so I was PLEASANTLY surprised that they were also in Durham. Lots of rotating flavors (with a choice of 16, I believe, at any given time), and a huge line all the way to the door even on a summer weekday night. Indoor and outdoor seating were both great. There are favors you can't get elsewhere in Durham, some of my favorites: almond, pistachio, taro, papaya (creamy, not really tart), and seasonal flavors like peppermint mocha, egg nog, and pumpkin pie. Their cheesecake topping is always yummy and not mashed up and soggy like other places. I definitely enjoy self-serve froyo more, even though this is slightly further than Local Yogurt from me. At 39 cents an ounce, the price is fair for self-serve but much cheaper than non-self-serve places. I don't have many issues with this place, except sometimes flavors run out and don't get refilled. Service is usually great (especially with the owners), although sometimes the employees aren't as helpful. Once, my friend and I were given one sampling cup each, so we had to keep asking for more. Another time we were planning on splitting the price to use a coupon; one employee told the cashier to weigh them separately, but the cashier just said "Whatever, they can figure it out." Having re-upped at all the local fro-yo joints in the past few months, I can safely say Tutti Frutti is the current king of the hill. They offer the best combination of variety, quality and value I've found. I also emailed with the company back in February and confirmed all their flavors except cookies n cream are gluten free. I would still be cautious of any cake or batter related flavors though, as I don't know if they've introduced any new flavors since I received this information. It seems some people don't like to self-serve their fro-yo, but they fall into the same category as the folks who freak out having to eat at a buffet or share a salad bar with their fellow humans. We swung by here for the first time this afternoon as it was a lot closer than Local Yogurt and figured why the heck not? So so glad we did, I think we've found our new summer spot for cool treats on hot days/nights! While the outdoor seating was packed, when we went inside, there was barely a line for the toppings, and no line for anything else. The flavor selection was excellent and I was able to get a great mix of flavors without feeling like I loaded up on anything. The cheesecake and birthday cake were definite highlights, as was the papaya. The orange dream (or cream... or something) was a teensy bit chemically, but I loved the blueberry flavor. My toppings included mochi (and lots of it), pineapple, strawberry, gummy bears, and rainbow sprinkles, as well as a few chocolate covered sunflower seeds that are good on their own, but didn't compliment the super fruity mix I had very well. What REALLY impressed me was the price, though. For my beau and I, it rang up to a little over 6 dollars, which (compared to most weigh and pay froyo places) made me feel like I was stealing! I still felt satisfied after, and we had a great time sitting outside on the comfortable bench and people watching. The best froyo place in Durham...and dare I say, the whole Triangle. They've got tons of flavors, great consistency & taste in their froyo, and it's by weight. I got a large amount of froyo for less than $3 that would've prob. cost $5 at Local Yogurt. And it's froyo that tastes like froyo, not like pathetic ice cream wannabes (aka: Yogurt Pump in CH). Yes, there is a bottleneck at times near the toppings bar, they need to work on a better layout for that. You also have to go up to the front and ask from sample cups. However, great customer service and they regularly update their FB page with the flavors available. I hear they even have taro, which I'm excited about trying. I've only lived in Durham for two weeks, but I've already visited Tutti Frutti three times. It's absolutely delicious. They have a wide variety of flavors (from vanilla to passion fruit to red velvet cake) and a ton of different toppings to choose from. It's almost overwhelming. As a few other people have mentioned in their reviews, there can be a bit of a wait for toppings, especially when large groups with lots of kids come in. I've never had to wait very long to pay, though. The staff are always very friendly, even when it is rather busy. One of my favorite things about Tutti Frutti is that you pay by the ounce. That means your trip can be fairly inexpensive, and it's a great place to go if you just want a little something. Both my fiance and I can get a satisfying amount of frozen yogurt and only pay around $5 or $6 for the two of us. While it is a little bit strange that the only two cup sizes are both very large, it isn't too difficult to only get what you want. Overall, with the large variety of flavors and toppings (you can even mix flavors if you want), there's something here for everyone. This was my first time getting ice cream/froyo in this way, so for those like me I'll explain: There's a wall lined with dispensers of more than a dozen flavors of froyo. You fill your own cup w/ yogurt and then take it to a topping station and load it up w/ fruit, candy, sauces, etc. as you see fit. You then take your creation to the register to weigh it, and the current price is 39 cents/oz. My experience may have been biased by the fact that it was grand opening and I paid a dollar(!) for my mound of ice cream, but I had blueberry and raspberry yogurt and it was delish--nice and tart. I tasted a few of the other non-fruit flavors and those were really good as well. Great selection of good quality toppings. Interior decor goes for the hip, modern look and is kind of a fun place to sit around with friends and eat. NOTE: when we went, it seemed like they might be a little short on seating (about two per table which was a little awkward for our group of four). For the mound of dessert that one person in my party had piled into her cup, I would expect to pay at least $6 or $7 dollars at a place like Coldstone. I tried tutti frutti on their opening day (and a couple days after) and it far exceed my expectations. With so many froyo chains opening up, I was very impressed with how tutti frutti set themselves apart. When you walk in, you are greeted with a very clean and trendy shop and the smell of yogurt is a real delight to the senses. Seeing all the different flavors they have is also a real bonus. One of the biggest thing I noticed about this shop compared to others is that their yogurt last longer. By this, I mean, by the time I am at the end of my cup, I don't have a puddle of melted yogurt water. So I get exactly what I paid for. I've noticed with other chains their yogurt isn't as firm, which causes your yogurt to melt a lot quicker, so really you only get to eat about 3/4 of what you pumped, which really just sucks. There's a wide range of toppings offered from your usual fresh fruit, candies, chocolate sauces, cereal, etc. And then you get these not so normal toppings which are just incredible to try out! They have mochi balls which are chewy and sweet, but not too sweet like marshmellows. And several different 'popping bobas' which are filled with exotic flavors like passion fruit and lycee. And did I mention the chocolate sauce they have is the Ghirardelli kind?? Its nice to see stores willing to offer their customers the nicer stuff instead of offering the cheap stuff just to make a profit. The staff is also really friendly and helpful if this is your first time around the self-serve yogurt world. They are constantly cleaning the tables and floors, which really appealed to my germaphobe husband! Ok, ok I don't do the chain stores... but on a hot Sunday afternoon it's the perfect place to drop by. With nearly a dozen flavored frozen yogurts from tempting peanut butter, nutella, cheesecake to fruity strawberry and pinapple- you could have a mad combo of just the yogurts alone. The topping run wild from crushed candy bars to cereals to nuts and even mochi (rice) of course the option to drown it in a chocolate or caramel syrup. It's all by weight, so add on carefully. A modest 16 oz can run around $3.50. Plenty of seating on the outside benches and plenty of easy parking the the strip mall parking lot. This is solely for the bubble tea and has nothing to do with the frozen yogurt. Disclaimer: I've had bubble tea here once before, maybe a couple years ago and it was alright. I came back for bubble tea twice about two months ago and had a horrible experience. First time: I had a milk oolong tea with boba. My friend had black milk tea with boba. Being thirsty, I finished the drink within 10 minutes or so. By the time I get home - 20 mins later - my stomach started acting up. It felt bloated, it started boiling, I couldn't manage to get it out (sorry TMI). I just lied in bed writhing shaking moaning in pain for almost THREE hours. I texted my friend: apparently she only drank half the tea and puked it all out the moment she got home. But then I thought, maybe the milk is the culprit. Maybe the milk was old. Maybe it was a bad day for my stomach. Maybe I was just stressed out. So I decided to give it another chance, three weeks later. This time I had a black tea with boba, no milk. The tea was a bit... cloudy, but I tasted a bit and it didn't taste strange, so I brushed it off. Oh how wrong I was. I got the tea and we left to go home. Within 10 mins of drinking half that drink, I could feel my stomach churning. I begged my friend to race home fast, and just about 15 mins from the time I drank, I was hugging the toilet like my best friend, hurling EVERYTHING OUT. It took two cups of hot ginger water and an hour of rest for me to feel normal again. So, I'm not sure what is the deal here. I drank here a long time ago, but between then and now, something changed. Or maybe I was just unlucky for two separate occasions, three weeks apart? Maybe the tea powder or the boba was the culprit? Who knows, but I know for sure I don't have the courage to force my body to go through another experiment like that again. Drink at your own risk. My wife and I love this spot. A huge variety of flavors that rotates regularly in and out of the dispensers, and keeps Tutti Frutti from getting boring. All those flavors, loads of toppings and a decent price ($0.44/ounce) add up to an all around good experience. Their orange sorbet is the perfect answer to a humid, Carolina summer day. Something I don't think the average frozen yogurt/soft-serve customer realizes is that those machines that dispense your favorite treat are VERY expensive to buy and especially to maintain. Whoever owns that business put a LOT of money into it. I've never seen a place with that many choices in flavors and toppings! My favorite creation is cookies n cream, peanutbutter and chocolate icecreams with coconut, chopped andes mints and reeses pieces- all for about $3.50!!! Friendly staff, great location and reasonably priced. You can't ask for more from a frozen yogurt joint! Hope those machines stay runnin! read more

I chose to spend my Tues evening with four beautiful lil girls. It was fun to surprise them with TF.

this place is amazing and i would have given a better review, but i brought in my children today to get some frozen yogurt and the worker maria gave us so much attitude and ruined our day. As soon as we left my youngest child started crying because of how rude she was. Complete bad service and looks pissed all the time, she shouldn't be working she stayed in the back room when there was a huge line and took forever to come out. read more
