Better than average diner fare with a kitschy Twin Peaks vibe. I made the 10 minute drive from Snoqualmie Falls and found an immediate seat at the counter. The staff was friendly and attentive. I went with the PB&J Burger (because why not?) which was surprisingly really good along with the fresh cut bottomless fries. I ended my meal predictably with a piece of cherry pie and the proverbial damn fine cup o'coffee. It was okay, not amazing but okay. The pie crust tasted like it had sat in the fridge for a while. AVOID! Over-priced tourist trap. Yes, this is the café made famous in "Twin Peaks". It shows, in the bad way :( The "damn fine cherry pie" is adequate at best. The pies I buy and take home from Fred Meyer are better. The food is plentiful, but bad. E.g. order an egg scramble, and what you get is a HUGE plate of tater tots, with traces of egg scramble mixed in somewhere. Prices are high for what amounts to bad diner food. read more

I hesitantly give Twede's cafe a 3 star. Being a Twin Peaks fan I had to go to Twede's for pie and coffee before our hike in North Bend. However, if I didn't know about T.Ps, I would think this was a tacky, over-priced, outdated diner. I paid $3 for a cup of black coffee, and $5 for a slice of cherry pie, and another $4.5 for a side of eggs for my little son. So pricey! The cherry pie and coffee were actually very good so I give Twede's a 3 star purely on that fact. Seriously, damn fine coffee! I'll be back after the remodel. Finally I looked to see where people were paying- at a counter & I took my check there. Well, well, well... We showed up around noon on Saturday after somewhat of an unavoidable pause as I recovered from a health issue. We were "frequent fliers" since our 1st weekend in Snoqualmie from SanDiego nearly 4 years ago... It was so refreshing 2 walk inside and C so many familiar faces! The greeting we always receive makes us feel like a million bucks! Our orders never vary: ham-steak & eggs 4 my husband. Denver omelette add sliced avocado 4 me. And always: extra crispy hash browns... It is always pretty packed but worth the wait as most folks do not linger very long. Many outdoorsy people grabbing a big plate-o-food either B4 or after a hike, a canoe trip or even skiing in the snowy months. If U R into watching where the magic happens, sitting where U can C the amount of food that pumps outta that little kitchen and lands in the window 4 delivery 2 tables is pretty astonishing! I could rattle offa whole buncha names we love but everyone who works there is gonna treat U graciously and make certain your meal is outta this world. The prices R slightly higher and that is b/c they use extremely high quality food ingredients across the board and their portions R considerably larger than most restaurants. @ noon on Saturday, most people were loading up on burgers/sandwiches w/ large piles of fries. When someone tells me "homemade chili", I am immediately skeptical. I make really good chili on my own, so most times won't even order it when eating out. Chili really sounded good though, so I gave it a chance. It really was pretty good. Mine of course is still better. ;) But this was most definitely good chili and (as far as I could tell) NOT from a can. Everyone else was in a late breakfast mood but I was feeling lunch, so in addition to the chili I got a hot pastrami sandwich with jalpeno jack cheese. Wow was it good! Everyone else in my family seemed to be enjoying their food, so that was a good sign. Servers came by often to fill drinks and make sure we enjoyed our food. My only issue is price, which I thought was too high. But since Yelp won't allow half stars I am only going four. But I will surely come back again when I am in this area. I also want to comment on all the people who mentioned they saw this place on tv in Twin Peaks and were dissappointed. I wonder what they were expecting. My husband and I were on our way to Leavenworth and decided to stop for breakfast. Also, it was snowing like crazy so we needed to decide what to do - driving conditions were rapidly falling into the FAIL category. Twede's was the first restaurant we saw with easy parking as we drove into town. I had forgotten all about North Bend's connection to Twin Peaks. I was more a Northern Exposure gal. Plus, 20 years ago! Really! I've forgotten more important things in that amount of time! We walked in about 10AM. It was seat yourself, so we did with no trouble. First thing is they have a bunch of stuffed Tweety birds nailed to the walls. Geez, I hope they get regular dusting :-( Took me a second to realize Twede's and Tweety - get it? We ordered coffee and when it came the cups say Twin Peaks on them. That's when I had my "oh ya" moment. Then I started wondering why they weren't really capitalizing on that angle. (Go to the restroom to see the Twin Peaks photos on the hallway wall. And the fact someone burned the place down in 2000.) I just couldn't decide what to order. My feet were wet and I was freezing. So ordered cherry pie with ice cream and a side of bacon. My husband had a ham and cheese omelet. Now I have a mental picture of my TV series worthy slice of pie with a perfect scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Actually it was soft serve ice cream. Twin Peak fans - is this what they did in the show? And my bacon was cremated - just the way Agent Cooper would have liked it. The cherry pie was cherry pie. That's all. With my first bite my response was "Damn this pie is sweet!" So I made my husband take a bite since he's diabetic. Hmm, that sounds wrong. Anyway, I ate my whole piece of pie. I'm not sure you can screw up cherry pie without trying really, really hard. My husband said his omelet "Was what it was. Nothing more nothing less." The service wasn't bad. Our server kept bringing coffee. We had nowhere to be and it was snowing and people watching was fun (Local? Took a wrong turn off the freeway?) Ok, now for the cliffhanger ending to my review. Will we eat here again? Why isn't their coffee better? Why don't they just make it a Twin Peaks cafe and promote this? a milkshake was on order after our hike. in terms of quantity, i had no problem with the amount and am only giving four starts because of the fact it was to go and my friend didn't think to ask me if i wanted it with whipped cream and sprinkles. had i been ordering for myself and not with a dog waiting outside, i would have made sure none of those accoutrements (maraschino cherry, whipped cream and sprinkles) were added. the milkshake itself was great! i got blackberry and it was perfect but i had to excavate through all the whipped cream that was sitting at the top of the to go cup. i could have done with a plain, unadulterated milkshake, and next time i'll know. it hit the spot; the artificially flavored cherry, not so much. read more

I missed out on Twin Peaks during it's original airing, but I recently watched the series on Netflix and really enjoyed it. Somehow I remember that the Double R Diner in Twin Peaks was filmed at a restaurant outside of Seattle. On my trip from Spokane up to Port Angeles I decided to see if it wasn't too far of a detour. It wasn't too far, and so I decided to stop for an early supper. This isn't really a cafe, more of a diner and I really liked the vibe here. Vinyl red seats, black and white tile floors - something like I'd imagine from the diner's of the 1950's. There were a few people in the restaurant, but it wasn't very busy when I was there. I did get a cup of coffee. I don't know if I'd agree with Agent Dale Cooper's assessment of it being a damn fine cup of coffee, but it was good. I didn't get the cherry pie that was mentioned in Twin Peaks, but instead decided to have an early supper so I got a patty melt. I've never had a patty melt before, and it's basically like a hamburger, but on bread. The patty melt was served with a giant side of fries that looked hand cut. The patty melt was okay, but a little greasy. Twede's Cafe however is a greasy spoon kind of diner so I guess it's part of the experience. I was, after all, on vacation and a vacation is no time for diets. The patty melt was $10.99, but there was so much food I couldn't finish it all. The waitress was friendly, and the food was served pretty quickly. I sat in a booth and on the table they have these quirky books to flip through while you wait for your food, so even dining alone you won't be bored. For Twin Peak fans there's a wall at the back of photos and memorbalia from Twin Peaks. Twede's Cafe however doesn't look anything like the Double R, so don't walk in expecting that. It is however a fun place to stop at for any fan of Twin Peaks, or for anyone craving a large serving of classic diner food fair. read more

I got a "simple breakfast" with eggs, hash browns, and toast. The eggs were fine. The hash browns were very greasy and had an orange slice on top, but were fine. The toast had too much butter on it. They tasted fresh cut and fried. There Is some memorabilia scattered throughout the place... It is a little disorganized in its placement and ability to look at without going into the men's room or sitting down at another table. We have done it once and that was enough... This was a fun place for my son and I to come for a light lunch after he took his driver's license written exam just down the street. I have always wanted to eat here, ever since watching "Twin Peaks" in the 80's (how time has flown!) Place is kind of funky, but it had a very nice vibe and we liked it. Of course, we had a "damn fine cup of coffee" and a slice cherry pie. Coffee was great. Pie was pretty good. Loved the sugar coating on the crust, but the crust was slightly thick. However, very good pie and glad to have it. Also had a burger and a cup of Broccoli cheddar soup. Very very good. Service was wonderful, very quick, and we got refills of our coffee and the water very quickly, service was quick. Just one waitress handling it all with about 20 people in the place, she did an awesome job. This was a fun trip, and the view from outside the cafe is awesome-- seeing Mount Si (and the Twin Peaks). Inside the cafe, I enjoyed the pictures in the back hall of Kyle McLachlan and other cast members of the show. Very pleasant place. Many menu items sounded good (their omelets, sandwiches, etc), so I will have to come back and sample them! Kelley and I like to come here for breakfast sometimes and since he was getting is CDL renewed, we stopped by after waiting at the licensing department. We've been here before and for some reason, I've never reviewed this place. I didn't realize this was the cafe in Twin Peaks because I've come here before they got the notoriety from the show. The food is typical and nothing really to scream about but I think what we like about it, is the atmospher. This place is characteristic of a small town American diner and it's just very nostalgic. It's a short drive to being away from home yet close enough for a quick trip. Here it is a year and a half later and sad to say, we will never come back. I had accidentally left my gadget bag there and called them within 15 minutes after and received the rudest phone reception ever. I didn't hang up the phone immediately but whoever was on the other end of the line had some pretty derogatory comments. When I got back there within a half hour, the reception was icy. I guess they are too busy to have good customer service. I'll leave my tip somewhere else from now on. read more

I am a big fan of the cult TV series Twin Peaks, and as a devoted follower of all things Lynchian I decided to visit North Bend and of course, the damn fine diner Twede's. I really enjoyed how both the interior and exterior are representative of the show in many ways. Food was great as well - tried a platter of three french toast and scrambled eggs, which were nothing short of delicious. The coffee was damn fine (no joke!); I was shocked at how good it tasted initially. To top it all off, I brought home the cherry pie and devoured that in one sitting. I would probably give this place 3 stars if it weren't for what we ordered being good. Looking at the reviews it seems not everyone has had this experience, so I'm glad we actually enjoyed ours! The main issue is that the service was mediocre on this day, even though it wasn't busy. We seated ourselves like the sign said to and then sat there for about 10 minutes waiting for menus. After we got menus it took about 15 minutes to order. The girls who helped us were all really nice though, so it wasn't a big deal- just a note that service is really slow despite there being a BUNCH of employees. Seriously, it was kind of insane how many people were working there yet we weren't being helped. A bunch of them were chatting right by our table so it felt kind of uncomfortable and frustrating. Now, like most people who review this place- we came here because we're Twin Peaks fans. It did not disappoint in this department. It would've been cool if they still wore the same outfits or a spin on them, but whatever, just an idea. We ate before we left Seattle earlier that day, so we just opted for dessert. I ordered the cherry pie (um, obviously), my boyfriend ordered a chocolate pie thing (He's weird and doesn't like fruit pies), and we split a hot chocolate. (He doesn't like coffee, period. And I don't like diner coffee, sadly, and I didn't want to be wasteful just for a picture.) The cherry pie was slightly warm and came with whipped cream. It was actually a super good cherry pie, I was worried that since it's kind of "the thing" to get there it would just be this mass produced crap. It wasn't! He liked his chocolate pie, and I did try it and it was fine, I just don't understand why anyone would order that here, but that's beside the point. I would give this place 2 stars, but I'm giving it 3 because it's part of The Twin Peaks experience. My husband and I thought that the coffee was not good, and the cherry pie was disgustingly sweet and served cold with a giant pile of whip cream. Our burgers were good, but not great. He got the German burger, and I got the Fajita burger. Mine completely fell apart instantly. Half of our plates were filled with room temperature fries. The service was also pretty bad. Our waiter seemed friendly, but he kept bringing the wrong food to our table. We waited a very long time to get our pie and the check. In his defense, I'm pretty sure he was the only waiter working at the time. I think it's pricey for a diner, and there are a lot of items on the menu. Overall, we went because we wanted to see the Double R and have some damn fine coffee with a slice of cherry pie. We had the experience, and I don't think we will be returning. I've been using Yelp 15 years and I think this is the first time I've left a review. We haven't been to Twede's since the most recent owners bought it, just sort of felt burned out from previous visits years ago that were always mediocre at best. Now, in a year that's been very hard on the foodservice industry, I feel bad for not coming in sooner. The newest owners have put some noticeable effort into improving this important neighborhood icon. First off, a very friendly and attentive staff, especially compared to some of their local competition. The interior is clean and less cluttered, making much better use of the retro remodel Showtime performed a few years ago - great job holding the Twin Peaks interest without going full-tourist-trap, while still retaining a retro-diner vibe that is just as much a tribute to the real history of the building as it is the made-for-TV history. The menu covers the diner food staples (breakfasts, dinner platters, good burger variety, incredible desserts), food came quickly and was, to be honest, much better than expected. It was also very reasonably priced considering portion size (and how expensive it is to run a business in King County.) If you usually pass by Twede's based on an experience from a few years ago, you owe it to yourself to give it another shot. Kudos to the staff and owners for making it a great neighborhood diner again. We'll be back much more often. read more

Our family had lunch and breakfast here on separate days and both would have us coming back frequently if we didn't live nearly 2000mi away. Came here a few times for breakfast and it is consistently good. It's an old fashioned diner and it's clean and food is good. I'll continue to eat here because my youngest son loves it and he's hard to please! Anita our waitress was extremely efficient and service was excellent! I'll preface this by saying we haven't been here for a few years. Service has gone down hill. When we arrived we waited a long time before being served by a somewhat surly waitress. That's a pity as one of the attractions of going there previously was the awesome staff. Other negative that you immediately notice is the menus have now been replaced with what I will kindly call signboards. Call me old fashioned but I'm not paying you for an advertisement, I'm paying for the coffee and cherry pie. It feels very much like they have lost their way. The quirky books are still there, the food seems the same but the feel of the place is gone. If you are nostalgic and are looking for the R & R cafe experience you missed it and to be honest you can find better options elsewhere.
