I was 12 years old in 1989 so when Twede's was being used as the RR Diner on the TV show Twin Peaks, I just wasn't a watcher. Skip ahead 25 years and a few weeks back, I was scrolling my FB feed and found an article about how the diner from Twin Peaks is a mere half hour away from my home and that it's still very popular. The next morning, I took my family up there for breakfast and a damn good cup of coffee. I started to research the TV show and we learned a lot about the cult classic while enjoying our food. We've been back twice so far and we actually really like the diner for their food as well as for their ties to the TV show. My wife and I have now seen every episode of seasons one and two and are currently watching season 3. The problem with having a restaurant that is as prominent in a TV show as Twede's is is that you come and go with some extra expectations. On the TV show, the diner is used as one of the main sets. The filming location of many scenes and the characters on the show all go there for two main reasons. The coffee and pie. Now the coffee is 100% spot on. My wife and I agree that the coffee at Twede's is some of the best damn coffee we've ever had at any restaurant and you don't need to dress it up with sugar and cream either. Black is perfect. On the other hand, the pie left us rather disappointed. I know that the TV show and the actual diner are two very separate entities however they do ride that wave of popularity from the show and even pride themselves on the coffee and pies. They have memorabilia from the filming of Twin Peaks on the walls and they've remodeled the restaurant to nearly resemble the original diner that was filmed in seasons one and two after a fire leveled the place so I am not bashful when I say that my expectations of the pie were very high just like the coffee. The coffee was on the mark but the pies at Shari's put Twede's to shame and that is something that I never expected. Other than that, the atmosphere of the diner is great. It's a greasy spoon with a lot of activity. The staff is friendly and for the amount of work that they do, they stay really calm and down to Earth about it all. The coffee is available for sale in bags ground or whole bean and they'll even give you a cool pen or magnifying business card if you want as a fan of the show. All of the other food that we've ordered at Twede's has been great. From breakfast to burgers, we have liked it all. They even offer endless fries with some of their dishes if you are still hungry. If you're in the area, I would totally suggest stopping in for a meal. If you're a Twin Peaks fan, I'm sure it's on your list or you've already been so I'm speaking to the rest of the travelers who are reading for the most part. If you find yourself hungry and in the North Bend, Washington area, stop in and visit Twede's. You will walk out satisfied. Pro tips: Parking is tough. The lot is small so you may need to find parking on the street or around the block. It's a seat yourself kind of place so if you walk in and see an open table, grab it! Even if it needs a wipe down because the place stays busy. The prices are a little above average for your classic American diner. They can charge them because the people keep on coming and they have a large staff. Just wouldn't want you to get sticker shock when they ring you up. Thanks for reading. read more

Like many others, we ate here for the Twin Peaks connection. The atmosphere was all I'd hoped it to be- quaint and small town greasy spoon, with plenty of Twin Peaks themed memorabilia. Interior is nice, relatively clean for an old diner, and service was good. Food itself was also to be expected. It was standard greasy general diner food. I give 3 stars not out of dissapointment but because it was truly just generic diner food. I had the green chile pepper jack omelette with hash browns and toast. Literally just shredded cheese and canned green chiles. Hash browns were greasy but decently crispy top layer. Toast was just, you know, toasted sandwich bread slices. Omelette was 13.75. Boyfriend had some kind of jalapeño burger with fries. The fries seemed cut in house, which was a bonus. He said it was a good diner style burger. We both had coffee, but skipped the cherry pie. Twin Peaks fans: the coffee was not "a damn fine cup" it was just average drip coffee, sorry. Worth it for the Twin Peaks fans, or for those craving greasy spoon style diner food, but not worth it if you want high quality food. read more

Greasy spoon kind of Diner. Food was mediocre but they charge you way more than what you would expect for the quality. They attempt to make up for the lack of quality by giving you an enormous quantity. We had breakfast. Coffee is diner coffee, nothing special. Both had omelets. They were probably 4 eggs, took up the entire plate. Add a load of hashbrowns to the other half of the plate and a biscuit the size of your fist on a separate plate. I know it seems odd to complain about portions being too large this day and age, but c'mon, do people really need to eat 4 egg omelets? And I'm not going to take the other half of my omelet home; something not quite right about day old eggs... Made the pilgrimage to Twede's recently to order coffee and cherry pie because TWIN PEAKS. Dale Cooper and the Log Lady were MIA and there was no sighting of Audrey being a weirdo in front of the jukebox. Still, our coffee was hot, our burgers and fries were downed easily and the cherry pie was destroyed. The inside was comfortably frumpy with lacy curtains, tacky touches, and a few R&R signs so the Twin Peakers can be easily spotted mouthing "OMG" at each other while they take pictures on their smartphone. The service was, well, diner service and wasn't great, but wasn't terrible either. This place seems to play dual roles of being a destination spot for David Lynch devotees or an underwhelming diner in a small mountain town. Either way, we enjoyed it. read more

I would give this no stars. Had never been here before, as fans of Twin Peaks wanted to check it out. Took 5 minutes to get menus after sitting down at bar, and we had to ask for them. The waitress was rude seemed bothered that we asked for a menu they got "slapped" down on counter. Then had to ask 10 minutes later, for a waitress so we could place our order. Again she looked and sounded annoyed we asked to order. We watched over the course of the next 15 minutes people who sat down after us got their food. After waiting 30 minutes we tried to get the waitress attention to cancel our order, btw we were at the counter next to the register, she said the food is done in a snotty tone. Brings the food.out says nothing, we eat pay and leave. Everyone raves about this place, they were not short staffed, but I won't be back. Horrible service. read more

Good kitsch factor for the Twin Peaks fan - traditional diner feel - we were able to walk in and seat ourselves on a Sunday afternoon- busy but comfy. Portions are HUGE. Not kidding - plan on left overs. Got the biscuits and gravy and the jalapeño mix - both were good. Biscuits and gravy were better than most places and the mix was spicy and not overly greasy (although it IS greasy due to hot links so this isn't a diet plate!). Hot cocoa was fun and a diner delight for someone who likes her cocoa sweet and covered in whip cream. Coffee got a two thumbs up, but the pie seemed more store bought than homemade. The service was bad. When we arrived and asked questions about the menu we were made fun of by an unhygienic male server. He interrupted us several times during our stay. The food was mediocre at best, the burger buns were burnt and so were the fries. When we went to settle the bill, the server once again had a bad attitude and when I tried to ask him further questions he cut me off with a snark "Are we done here!?" I would only recommend visiting this diner if you are a hardcore Twin Peaks fan. read more

Terrible service. Sat at the table for 15 minutes before finally flagging a waiter down. Food took almost an hour to come out. We ordered chili. How long does it take to scoop out a bowl of chili? An hour apparently. They brought pie ala mode before they brought the food and it turned into soup by the time the food came. Waitress didn't ask if we wanted desert first. She just assumed. She assumed wrong. Ordered fries and they were cold. My wife got up and left before her food came. I had to take her chili to go and they didn't even bother bringing me a spoon. The waitress never once came back to check on us. Never once asked to refill our drinks. Worst service ever. The food was subpar and way overpriced. read more

As of last time I was a Twede's, they have an awesome variety of choices on their menu! Especially the burgers and the milkshakes!

Pros: Fun ambiance, for Twin Peaks fans and diner fans alike. Good location for jumping off to other kid-friendly sights nearby or for grabbing breakfast before a drive east. Cons: The food is decent and consistent, but not amazing. It can get busy for breakfast on the weekends unless you arrive early. The combination of middle-of-the-road diner food and the strained service when the cafe is packed makes me second guess a visit on a weekend. We've been here several times for breakfast in the last few years. The last visit we made was on September 23, 2018. On that day, like most other visits, we got there close to opening at 8am. Service was quick enough and friendly, and the waitress was patient while my preschooler made his own order. The food was predictable. I'm not a huge fan of the coffee or cherry pie, but the other adults in the group disagree with me and think it's great. I like the bacon and eggs any way that I've had them here. read more

We wanted to stop by at Twede's Cafe on our way back to Seattle from Eastern Washington for a coffee and a cherry pie. We parked our car and we walked towards the entrance door, when a girl came out and closed the door in our face saying a simple "sorry guys, we're closed, we ran out of hamburger buns". But we didn't want hamburgers. But it's 6pm and you supposedly close at 8pm. But there's plenty of people inside, just hanging out and having coffee and cherry pie. Well, that's fine, we just took off to the nearby Mexican restaurant, learning once again that tourist traps are not worth it. And that employees can afford to be rude, they'll have plenty of customers anyway. read more

The food came and he dropped the bill with it and never came back. We got our drinks when our food came out after waiting 20 or more minutes to order. Barely warm food. So, I am a HUGE "Twin Peaks" fan. My sister booked a trip to the area as a surprise for a holiday. Twede's was our first stop after a very long drive(and flight for her and my mom). The service, food, vibe literally everything was just perfect. We stopped twice, it was also our last stop the next day, we also had the same great experience. I do wish we would have gotten then names from the people who were there the first day though(June 4th,2019 around 2:30ish).... They were so incredibly welcoming and friendly, chatted with us a ton. I was a little nervous and shy about taking pictures and they all assured me it was more awkward for me not to. We bought A LOT of merchandise. Everything was well priced. The food was awesome! The memorabilia amazing! Even if we were not "Twin Peaks" fans the stop would have still been great but it is a must stop for fans! I think one of the people who helped us was a manger? As a fan of Twin Peaks I was looking forward to going to this diner. The menu is about 60 percent burger choices, with a few sandwiches, breakfast and a few other choices. My wife wanted to order a teriyaki dish, and I warned her that ordering a non burger dish at a diner probably wouldn't be a good choice. Boy was I wrong! I had the Twin Peaks burger, and my wife had a chicken burger, and my daughter had a bacon burger. My burger had no flavor. I didn't finish it. My daughter said her tasted ok, so I tried it. It actually tasted nasty, it had flavor, but it was like someone wringed out a dirty dishrag on it. Both of them seemed to be undercooked. In addition the fries seemed soggy and undercooked. My wife said it tasted like the frying oil needed to be changed. One positive the waitress noticed that I didn't eat by burger and gave me a discount. Still way to expensive for diner fare, and really poor quality. read more

We came here as Twin Peaks fans and would've loved to write a glowing review but sadly the place is really worn down. Every booth had torn seats. I'm sure it's a pricey neighborhood to be located in but the cost of food should leave the owners enough to keep up the place. ($45 for two lunches and a shared piece of pie) The pie was too sweet and they topped it with poor quality soft serve ice cream. This place has a nostalgic feel to it. My friends and I went for some lunch and decided to try out twedes. On the outside the place didn't look promising but the food and service was actually very good! I had the bacon avocado burger , which was fantastic. The beef patti was superb and seasoned very well, definitely worth the 12.75 i payed and unlimited fries! My buddie had the 5$ strawberry shake that was amazing. All in all this place was more than I expected and turned out being a place to visit again in the future. Will definitely return for sure! read more

Our first encounter with staff as we entered was with the busboy who was unpleasant. He was surly during each interaction we had with him: discussing seating, waiting for menus and water (we waited until another staff member prompted him to provide them), when I asked him to wipe off the table because until we sat it wasn't clear that the table hadn't been wiped down. Each time he helped I thanked him with no response. The same is true of the server who took our order and served the food. I've been a waitress in the past and in customer service for many years. I know restaurant work is hard and working with the public is a thankless job. I go out of my way to be pleasant and undemanding but do expect at a minimum, courtesy.
