This place was recommended to me and my wife so we made the drive to check it out. WHAT A LET DOWN! It took forever for a waitress to get our drink order and even longer to actually get our drinks and order food. This is something i wouldn't generally complain about when a restaurant is busy, but this place was at less than half capacity, and didn't seem understaffed. The menu was small and everything incorporated the same hand full of ingredients just assembled differently. My wife ordered the worst flat bread we have ever eaten. It was chewy and bland, the crust seemed to have been made days before. I got a burger that was supposed to have a fried egg and avocado on it and hand cut fried. It came with soggy fries that were so salted they were inedible. The egg was a previously frozen and microwaved not fried! The "avocado" was the neon green paste that comes from a tube, not fresh sliced avocado. In the end the food was grossly over priced for the quality. I would not recommend Twiggs to anyone, there are better places to eat even in st. albans. read more

I give it 2 stars for the décor and location, but felt the service was really lacking. It may be that our server just needs training and more experience. It was my first time in (I live locally) for a birthday celebration, and they knew our group was coming. No silverware on the table and everyone had to ask for silverware as their food was brought out. They were out of several beers, including Switchback, and had to fix the soda tap for something we ordered for a younger guest. He waited 1/2 hr for his drink. They didn't have a blender so one person couldn't have the blended drink she wanted. The wait for drinks was excessive. My quesadilla was good, but I thought it was too doughy. Other food looked good and I heard no complaints. I usually give a place a 2nd chance when the first visit isn't so great, and will likely do so for Twiggs, but right now I wouldn't recommend it. read more

This used to be one of our favorites. The food a couple of years ago was fantastic, but now it's just good. Service is usually ok. Music is often too loud. The quality of everything does vary from visit to visit. That being said, it still is a neighborhood place that is a solid go to for a lunch or dinner out. What prompted this review and rating was a couple days ago we had made a reservation and when we got there right on time, the girls at the hostess stand couldn't hear us because they were placed literally next to the live musician blasting music. Then they couldn't find our reservation. When they did find it, they asked us to come back in 25 minutes and maybe they would have a table. This is completely unacceptable. What is the point of accepting reservations if you don't honor them? I can understand 5 or 10 minutes, but a half our is poor management. We decided to go around the corner for dinner instead. But before I left, I decided to speak to the manager. The girls at the front were so young, I thought the manager should be aware why they had customers walking away. When I went in and asked a waitress inside to speak to the manager, she and the bartender had no idea where the manager was. That explained to me as a customer where the problem originated. Having had a wonderful meal at their direct competition, I think we found our new "go to". read more

My wife and I been in a couple of times and have had great food and service on both occasions. The food was very tasty and priced fairly, though fries should be included with the burger price. The 14 star beer is great but the mixed drink specials fall a little short. All we could taste was mixer, a little disappointing so in the future we will stck with beer only. The atompshere is great and we really enjoy Vern on the piano during dinner. Reminds us of the OLD Ryan days when you had tasteful music during dinner that you didn't have to scream over. The music outside is just annoying. Follow suit with the inside and offer a softer music to enjoy the outside dining experiance and I think you would have a home run. All in All one of the better if not the best places to eat in St.Albans. read more

My husband, son and I visited Twiggs on Friday night 1/23/15. We had heard good things about this restaurant so decided to give it a try. The live music was wonderful to come into. Well drinks were advertised at $4.00. I ordered one and my husband a beer both were fine. My second well drink was horrible, absolutely no liquor so I watched the bartender pour and she was definitelyvery light on pouring. I ordered the blackened salmon salad, my husband the boneless wings and son ordered the steak. My salmon was luke warm at best and, the steak portion was very incredibly small. The waiter, Bob, never asked our son if he wanted baked potato or fries or any other choices just assumed what he wanted. Needless to say baked potato was not his choice so my husband ended up eating that. All in all, with the exception of live music, we will choose another establishment to dine at. read more

Food was very tasty and the service was wonderful. They have nice gluten free options. Definitely worth a visit.

Slow service. Soups came out cold the first time and just hot enough after reheating. Clam chowder was good until I took a bite and felt the crunch of sand. Yuck. Tomato basil soup is watery and essentially flavorless. Fries are slightly soggy and the Twiggster burger I ordered is also lukewarm. Only visiting St. Albans but will not be returning to Twiggs. read more

We had a group of 10 that went to St Albans tonight for my birthday dinner. We figured it would be easiest to just go for pizza but even with call ahead we were told a long wait. I walked down the street to Twiggs and was greeted by very friendly staff. The manager (Tom) came out and said he would figure it out for us within 10 minutes. We had fabulous food, attentive staff and great seating. I would highly recommend Twiggs and will definitely be back. read more

So we are sitting here at Twiggs. This place is great!! We just got into town for a wedding on Saturday and wanted our usual wings and beers we get on Fridays back home in CT. Kathleen at the front desk of the Cadillac Motel suggested Twiggs.. It was a very short drive from the motel. It was crowded cuz they had a small band but we got right in. Our waitress was amazing. Music was good. Treated like a gangster when I came in. Poor bourbon selection...just one. Got the table in the back...no problem. Butttttt we were forgotten about. If your gonna use terms like 'gastro' you need to be above the norm. You're in St.A. VT...having Labatt Bleu on tap is not a bad thing. Waitstaff is WAY too slow. Owners...quicker they are, more you sell, more they get tips. This isn't rocket science. The hand formed burger....didn't seem it...sort of packed too tight and dry. Seemed mechanical. ..just my opinion....but the burger being well smaller than the bun...come on...my homemade burgers are always a bit bigger than the bun. After tonight, my first time there. ..I'm not rushing back. Wonder why at Hooters they ask you if it's your first time there? Because they kiss your butt. They make u want to come back. Hired them for bar services at my wedding. Was transferred 3 times during our planning process to different catering managers who conveniently lost my paper work each time. At the wedding, my first and only drink was given to me on a cracked cup, which proceeded to spill all down my dress. Bartender charged me for the drink and didn't offer to help me or even offer an apology. They ran out of certain beer, didn't bring all the top shelf I asked for, one of the kegs was broke (in which two guests helped fix), and they said they were compensated. They weren't. They charged more for drinks than advertised range of mixed and also lied on our bill. At the end of the night I could hear the two bartenders complaining about their tips which was later price gouged to us on our bill in which they said most guests wanted bottled water (62) to be exact. We didn't even have bottled water there!! I helped clean up that night, not one bottle. Guess they had to get their tip somehow. Asked for a discount on our bill considering all that happened. Catering person said--they felt they provided the services they were asked and that the keg wasn't their fault and that they were out money on it so they were taking a loss too. It's all about the customer right?! Would never recommend them to anyone. I would be happy to offer other alternatives. Horrible experience and by far the worst and most simple yet complex vendor we hired (and we contracted Everything out). read more
