We were there at breakfast time, with extended family, and had a lovely time--never ever feeling rushed by the hustling staff. Another Connecticut square I needed to fill was a breakfast sam on a hard roll, and I went off script and had it with pastrami, in lieu of traditional bacon or ham. I just picked up an order of fries and a cheeseburger. The fries were crunchy and crispy and hot. Usually when I get takeout fries they are soggy and unappealing. These were the exception. The burger was good and the pickle was a nice surprise! Thanks twin pines! read more

I would give Cesar who was our server five stars! The spinach pie deserved only 2 or possibly three stars! About a month ago I had the spinach pie and Greek salad combo for the first time. We just came in from Houston on a late flight. We barely made it before they stopped serving dine in service. Alyssa took our order had our food out in minutes. My husband ordered the fried pork chops, I had the French toast with bacon and eggs, and my boys got the chocolate chip pancakes with sausage. The food was sooooo good and service was amazing!! Ample booth seating with additional seats at the bar. They had a very large menu that was a bit overwhelming offering a variety of foods including breakfast all day. We came at dinner time and were seated at a booth in the back. I found the food very average but portion sizes quite big. I ordered a grilled chicken Caesar wrap which included tomatoes and lettuce. It did not have much of a Caesar taste and the chicken reminded me of the quality of what you might get at subway. I asked for dressing on the side and dipped it, only ate half of it. We visited on a Tuesday, late afternoon. The facility was a typical diner & clean. The staff was friendly/attentive. The food was a disappointment...particularly the Chicken Parmesan. I have so many great memories of Twin Pines from many years ago. Which is why is was such a disappointment to stop there for lunch yesterday. I had a gyro and side salad. The gyro was tasteless: pita bread was cold and doughy, the meat was spongy and cold and had no flavor whatsoever, the raw vegetables were stale and discolored. The side salad was the same, and I'm not sure what they imagine the bleu cheese dressing is supposed to taste like, but I'm certain there wasn't a single piece of bleu cheese in it. The lemonade had a chemical flavor. Service was poor: the server delivered our food and vanished, then returned only to drop the check. I'll hold on to my happy memories but I won't dine at Twin Pines again. read more

The Service was above expectations! Cesar our waiter and Hindy pour waitress were both FABULOUS! I service was suburb even after I complained about my food! The Owner/ Manager came over and spoke with me, he helped me understand my issues! I Greatly appreciate that they recooked my meal and I am at home eating it and it is delicious! Because my family has an early flight out of Tweed New Haven Airport, I needed a 24/7 diner to treat myself to breakfast after dropping them off at 5ish, and noticed this diner was only 8 minutes away. I was a tad worried about the low star reviews, but happy to report I had a very pleasant experience and am sad not others thought the same. The restaurant parking is brightly lit, with ample booth and bar seating inside. Staff and early morning regulars were all friendly, welcoming and included me in on their conversations. I felt like a regular, myself. My breakfast included unlimited coffee refills, my eggs cooked perfect to order, large portions, and my check ready without me asking for it (in case I was in a rush). I was genuinely thanked multiple times by staff as I left, and I felt very safe walking back to my vehicle before sunrise. I'd come here again for sure. Great spot for breakfast! read more

I met a few girlfriends on a Saturday morning to find the dinner packed with no parking in the parking lot. Fortunately my group arrived before me today and scored a table for 5. Our waiter was Joe who was personable and despite a full house was very prompt in delivering coffee refills and hot plated meals. Usually, when I go to a restaurant with a huge, diverse menu, it's a sure sign that I should temper expectations. They generally make a large variety of foods, but don't do anything particularly well. This is certainly the case with Twin Pines. Portions are generous, service is friendly and prices are decent, but the best I can say about the food is that it's edible. The meat on the gyro sandwich is just just thick strips of ground meat with spices cooked in a fry pan. Reminded me of a 1/4" thick Steak-Um. Not sure what the meat is, but I don't think it's lamb. My pastrami sandwich had a decent amount of meat, but was otherwise unremarkable. There are other options in the area, and we won't be returning to Twin Pines. read more

I don't understand why this restaurant keeps winning "best os" awards. I went there today and ordered a traditional Greek dish, moussaka. They charged me for an ice tea refill: nobody does this. I asked if I could substitute a Greek salad for a regular salad, and they added a $3.00 surcharge. That surcharge ended up paying for five olives and a quarter once of feta. The moussaka had no seasoning, no eggplant and a slimy, fake bechamel. Yuck! read more

Triantis immigrated to the United States over 50 years ago and it wasn't long before he got into the hospitality business. He owned three Connecticut restaurants before opening Twin Pines. The diner offers affordable quality meals and has won numerous accolades over the years. The enormous menu features classic staples such as omelettes, pancakes, eggs benedict, french toast, salads, sandwiches, burgers, seafood entrees, and various Greek and Italian specialties too numerous to mention. The diner also has its own on-site bakery which produces several delicious cakes, pies and other various pastries. I have visited Twin Pines more times than I can count. It is one of my favorite local diners and I've never had a bad meal here. My family and I recently stopped in for dinner while we were in the area late one evening. The diner makes excellent club sandwiches, so I decided to get a Turkey Club with a side of French Fries. My wife ordered the Chicken Souvlaki (Twin Pines makes one of her favorite spins on the dish) and our son had Chicken Tenders with French Fries off of the Kids Menu. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I couldn't leave without ordering a cup of coffee and a slice of my favorite dessert: Chocolate Lemon Pie! This delicious pastry is virtually non-existent outside of the Greater New Haven area. It was most likely created from culinary ideas brought to the area by Italian immigrants from the Amalfi Coast. It can only be found at a handful of Italian bakeries in the area, but Twin Pines also makes the citrusy treat on the premises. That was the perfect ending to my meal. Food amazing staff lady that was our server amazing we went late night and we ordered a lot just to get the taste of a few different things on the menu she made us feel comfortable. She made sure that our food that we wanted to bring home after tasting several little dishes and wrapped it appropriately, her conversation was just awesome. I believe she's from Greece. I think she said her mom lives. I know she doesn't live in her mother doesn't live United States but the conversation and the comfortability of making you feel value amazing. This is a great diner for value, location and flavor. They have a large number of specials everyday that are all under $20. They include soup, salad, entree and dessert. I had tilapia, with bake potato and carrots. I had a generous portion of fish, with a good size potato and carrots for $15. It also came with escarole soup , salad, bread and chocolate lemon pie.
