I still like the food at the Willows but they changed up the menu. Bad move. No more Steak Bombs. Might have been the most popular item on the menu. A lot of stuff missing from the old menu...so bummed. But the Lobster Roll increased by $1.00 and also increased in size from the hotdog bun to a split roll and it's huge! It tastes ok too. Sometimes the specials are a very nice treat i.e. the Ultimate Prime Rib Dip..oooooh very nice. I also like the Fried Fish (Fish and Chips) with the Fried Clams w/ bellies combination. First time I've ever seen a real booster seat available for children, so they started our dinner off on the right foot. Then they also had the option of vegetables instead of fries with the chicken nuggets so they're totally keeping the kids in mind. As for the burgers I thought they were delicious, love the idea of going with double quarter pounders and the option to go with the onion rings or sweet potato fries. We have just watched tables that were seated way after us get their food and still no food for us. I usually love this place but tonight was awful! We are now at an 1 Hour 20 minutes still no food . This has been a South County establishment for a long time and we've been coming here since we moved here in 1986 . . . Our family has always loved Twin Willows with favorites like the Bill and Mert Burgers, the fish & chips and of course the delicious fries. What happened? My husband and I arrived Sunday night about 8:30 and got a tall table in the back to enjoy a drink and dinner. The waitress arrived and took our drink order and we ordered the 3 clam cake appetizer to start. The drinks arrived quickly, but the clam cakes took a few minutes and when we began to eat them we determined it was because they were overcooked and we wished we ordered clam chowder to dunk them. I ordered the classic Bill Burger with no onion and my husband ordered the Black Jack with no onion. The burgers arrived and both HAD onions and each had 1.5 pieces of bacon (1 mostly cooked and 1 barely cooked). The fries on the plates were soggy, room temp and left on the plate upon our departure. The pickle was crisp and fresh. We ordered 2 more drinks and waited. . . and waited. The waitress returned and apologized the bar was out of ginger beer. We were done with our dinner and said "we'll just close out". . . and we waited. . . and waited. She returned with the check and after several minutes returned again with apology to say the computer was down and she'd have to get a manager. . . and we waited . . . and waited. I walked to the car to get cash and asked her if we could pay. She said it was all set and handed me my receipt. We left thinking what happened to Twin Willows. When I was visiting Rhode Island, my friends and I went to this local restaurant for a late lunch. I was pretty happy with the food, although my native friends seemed to have a few negative comments while they were eating. Since they are in fact natives, I think they had some negative comments on the food menu changes. The service was good and the atmosphere was enjoyable. It was relatively busy and our food came out at an average pace. I ordered the Willows Chicken sandwich consisting of cheddar-jack, bacon, greens, ranch dressing, all on a ciabatta roll. I was pleased with my meal. My sandwich came with hand-cut fries and a pickle and was roughly $12 before tax/tip. My comrades ordered the Chicken Parmesan with mozzarella, basil, linguini, and marinara sauce and the other ordered the clam chowder (which seemed runnier than other chowders that I've seen) and a wrap. I've been going to the Willows on and off for the better part of 30 years now and there hasn't been a whole lot of change that I can discern. There were some structural renovations done to the interior in the past couple of years but even still - not really different. I got a call from a few friends to meet for a quick bite and a beer or two before the St Pattie's day weekend crowd overwhelmed the place. I ordered the Manhattan chowder with 3 clam cakes and a side of broccoli rabe. The chowder was average and left me a bit disappointed - but I'm not sure that I really expected any different. The clam cakes were a pleasant surprise. They were nice size and cooked well. The batter was spiced perfectly and there were even some nice, sizable pieces of clam - which isn't always the case as Rhode Islanders know. The broccoli rabe was cooked perfectly and was a nice side dish. I've actually been to the Willow's a several times in the two years since I've been back in RI. The steamers are usually very good - although I did have one bad batch last winter. No harm no foul - we sent those back and they were removed from our check. If you are there "in season" don't hesitate to grab an order and dig in. I haven't had one since the 90's, but the Mert Burger and Bill Burger were always favorites of mine; and I'm sure they are still good - I've seen them coming out of the kitchen. If you're local - you know the drill. If you're visiting our town from elsewhere, this is a fine spot to garner some of that local fare. Try the clam cakes, clear broth RI chowder, a lobster roll, steamers, stuffies....ask the people around you what they like. It's definitely a townie type of place and we usually don't bite - enjoy! read more

Since we've been here last, probably about 2 years ago, the food has improved immensely! The new menu is exceptional and the food was spot on. We had the steamed lobster, lobster bisque, and a caesar salad with salmon. Overall very tasty and the seafood was cooked perfectly! We will for sure be visiting more often now. read more

I just left Twin Willows and will never go back. My husband and I were literally in and out, in a half hour. This is not somewhere to go for a relaxing dinner on a Saturday night. It was a college bar with a decibel level higher than most Providence Nightclubs. We had to yell across of the table because it was so loud. Due to Covid, there was less tables but the amount of college kids standing at the bar was like there was not even a pandemic going on. We ordered Stuffies and clam cakes for appetizer, which were ok. And within 10minutes our entrees came out so there was no way that my Chicken Penne Vodka was cooked to order. Four of us ventured out last Thursday evening after avoiding restaurant dining for 4 months! We requested outside dining and were seated comfortably at a deck table with umbrella - Lauren (her first week) was our server and I cannot praise her enough! For starters, the service was great. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, and the manager was very nice. But sadly, the food was awful. The only thing this place has going for it is location. We ordered the fried calamari for an app, the lobster roll, and the fish tacos. There was hardly enough calamari to cover the plate it was served on, but was cooked well and tasted good. Both the entrees were served with soggy french fries that tasted like they were cooked in old oil. The $22 lobster roll had a single small ice cream scoop size of lobster that didn't taste like much of anything. 4 years ago and pre covid, their lobster rolls had twice the amount lobster meat. But the worst part of the meal was by far and away the fish taco. It tasted like the school cafeteria's version of fish tacos. The over salted fried fish tasted fresh, but was bitter and served on top of shredded iceberg lettuce instead of the traditional red cabbage. There was a nice wedge of sliced avocado placed on top with a totally tasteless sour cream taco sauce. I hoped adding extra sauce and fresh lime would help the taste, but it didn't. There was no cilantro, no cotijo cheese, no onion, no tomato, and no taste! When I suggested to the manager removing the tacos from the menu he was in disbelief as he claimed it was the most complimented and best selling item they have. I don't know what that says about the clientele, besides that they have never tasted a good fish taco before. The flour tortilla was chewy in a rubbery sort of way; fresh from the grocery store. Just bought a lobster Roll, I have never tasted a lobster roll that salty, I don't know if the chef is still drunk from last nite New Years party and the fries were too overcooked and lobster roll was half the size what their picture in add shows plus there was no pickle, I got screwed for $22 plus tax. To the manager, I think you have few bad workers there that are ruining your restaurant, we ordered take out and did not give tip and I think one of the workers threw salt at the lobster roll and put a small amount of food like half the size compared to your picture of lobster Roll, little burned fries and no pickle. We had friends in from Florida that wanted to try Twin Willows. It was a Saturday night and there were a lot of cars in the lot but we were able to go in and be seated immediately. The atmosphere was lively and there was a great band playing. We ordered our dinners and it was delicious. Our friends raved over the lobster roll and chowder. For that personal added touch, the manager came over and made sure everything was to our liking. He asked if we needed anything but everything was perfect. This was my first visit. Drove down from Mass to try the shrimp blt. We sat in the outdoor seating and was lucky to have Ilana as our waitress. She was knowledgeable of the menu and was willing to offer her guidance with our menu selection. I indeed got the shrimp blt which was delicious. My mom, on Ilana's suggestion, got the amazing fish and chips. My daughter who is not very adventurous got chicken fingers and clam chowder. This was the most disappointing experience we have ever had at Twin Willows. We frequently eat here while we are on vacation in Bonnet Shores. We were a party of 9, and waited a bit longer than the quoted wait time. Once we sat down and ordered, it was a very long wait for the food, and we never saw our waitress again -- even to ask if anyone wanted another drink. After an hour and 15 minutes, and multiple inquiries as to the status, our food arrived. There were quite a few empty tables, so the restaurant was not crowded. The waitress service was non-existent. No one at our table had knives, and one member of our party fetched them himself. One person who ordered steak had to request a steak knife from a passing employee. One person's "medium" steak was completely purple and cold in the middle -- he sent it back to be cooked more, and it came back just as purple -- and the waitress did not check to see if it was okay. (It was not, and he did not eat it.) The "balsamic" dressing served with the dinner salads was just oil, no vinegar or flavor. The Avocado-Turkey Wrap had no avocado at all. Came here for dinner with 4 adults and 2 children on a Sunday evening. Immediately ordered 2 grilled cheese sandwiches for the kids and 2 appetizers for the adults. Then, proceeded to order our meals 5 minutes later. Grilled cheeses took about 45 minutes to come out and appetizers took 1 hour and 15 minutes from the time we had ordered. Then, the meals took an additional 45 minutes to arrive. During this time at no point did the server come to the table to acknowledge the fact that our food was taking a long time to be served. I'm aware that servers can often get in the weeds and it can often delay meals when busy but in this case we were completely disappointed in the service experience and the food was subpar when we did finally get it. Once the food was finally delivered we had asked to speak with the manager who never came to our table after waiting 20 minutes for him to come out. Instead, the manager told the server to remove one of our meals from the bill. I don't recommend going here as there are plenty of preferable options in South County where the service and food will not disappoint. read more

Last year went to Twin Willows in July, with some friends, and although it took two hours to get our food, I thought it was just a fluke, and figured we would give it another try. The parking lot is always crowded, so thought it must have been one bad night. (But now I can confirm that it must be that there are no other places in town, because Twin Willows managed to provide an even WORSE dining experience this year!) Just went to Twin Willows with a group of friends on a Tuesday night. We were happy when we arrived, when the hostess said we could wait about 20 minutes for a table outside on the deck, or be seated right away inside. We opted for inside, because it was 8:00 p.m., and knew we had a limited time to eat, before heading back to relieve the babysitters. The drink order took about 15 minutes, and even one friend in the group, who waited an extra 10 minutes, had to remind the server what she ordered, only to be told "oh, yeah, we're out of that..". The party of ten ordered two appetizers, and three salads, which took exactly 59 minutes to arrive..uggh..One salad had no dressing, and the friend had to wait five minutes to get that. The wait for the actual entrees was so long, that two friends had to ask for theirs to go, once we had been sitting there 1 hour and forty five minutes!!!, (without any clue from the server when we might be getting our food). Once the entrees did arrive, the eight orders were delivered so sporadically, that half of the group, who wanted to be polite and wait for everyone to start eating, had to dig into cold pasta!. One friend ordered mashed potatoes, but was told, they were "out", so would have to substitute for baked potato or onion rings..One cheeseburger was delivered with bacon (bacon not ordered).. one clam dish had sand that could almost break a tooth.. It basically was the WORST service by far, for all ten people. People who have been to many restaurants, and who would forgive almost any slow service, if there had been at least ONE attempt from the staff to address that this was not the usual service to expect at Twin Willows. The restaurant was not even exceptionally full or busy. How can you be in the service industry, and not know that this kind of dining experience is unacceptable? It was difficult to have to pay the tip, already included in the bill, because of the size of our group. These were ten people that would normally overtip any server, that appeared to try their best to accommodate their customers, and make for a pleasant dining experience, These are ten people that will never come back to Twin Willows, and will tell all their friends to do the same! read more

Had a little bit of a wait for our table which was ok but then once seated it took 15 mins and me flagging down a waitress to ask for a waitress so we could order drinks. They weren't that busy so it was strange no one came to our table. This was our first visit so now we were worried about the rest of the experience and what that was going to be like. Dining area is dirty. Caked on food on the walls. Tables ate sticky and the floor doesn't look like it knows what a mop is. The food appears to be below average for a bar/pub. I had a burger which was alright but certainly not worth the $12 price. The fries were overcooked and tasted burnt. My wife had a chicken parm sandwich which was chicken fingers and tomato sauce on a roll. Also way overpriced at $12.
