Oldie but a goodie. I remember when twinkle tea first opened and while I don't live in the area it was still a must try place! It's been years and their menu is ever growing, I love the seasoning they put on the popcorn chicken and I'm always conflicted if I want something fruity or brown sugar sweetness. It's an overall solid shop and they have kiosks to order from if you're undecided, you can flip around and browse the drinks! I'm a huge fan of taro milk tea (when it's done right). I wanted to try out this spot's taro milk tea bc of their cute cup designs, so I did everything normal, ie. 100% sweetness / normal ice. * * Sadly the TARO MILK TEA would really get just 2 stars for acceptability. It tasted like all milk and only has the pretty purple from the taro which I could barely taste :( Bc I took this To-Go and didn't try it til I got home, I couldn't tell if they'd be willing to make it better -- but personally, I would NOT order the taro milk tea again from here. read more

Our go-to for ordering options- $5.99 popcorn chicken, Happy hour $3 Hong Kong milk tea or lemonade ice tea! We usually opt for 50% sugar for lemonade ice tea (still decently sweet) and 25% milk tea (not as sweet). Pros- Expansive menu. You can order a full meal here like a bowl of noodles and random things like 10 piece chicken nuggets, but it is mainly a boba shop. This place is popping and the hours are reasonable (closes at 11pm). There is some seating but not much (about 3 tables and bar counters). Order is mainly self service via a kiosk which can be longer wait with indecisive people, but usually it is quick/ there's no wait. In terms of ambiance, it's mainly a place for grab and go and offers a place to hang out with minimal seating (about 10-15 seats). There is also WiFi and they accept CC. read more

always come here pretty often, but tonight im so disappointed... i believe it was a new hire who made my brown sugar snowie drink. my request is always the same boba, pudding, 50% sweet and cheese. But when i drink it, it taste nothing just like milk boba and pudding. i know 50% shouldn't be too sweet but I always request that way and its fine the sweet its perfect. but this time it taste 0 sweet. and there was a lot of big chunk of smooth ice inside. also im 100% they didn't put the cheese bcs when i open the plastic lid i did not see any stain from cheese on top of the lid or on the glass itself even though i already paid $1 extra. what a disappointment. i wish i can ask refund or change when i was still there but i just drink it when i got home. read more

Their sandwich are amazing! I've never had their food here since most boba places' food are too snacky or a hit and miss. My friend had ordered a chicken sandwich, and the sandwich was delicious! They included fries, which they were able to make it super crunchy?! I had the popcorn chicken, and it was pretty good! They have fried garlic which I think is a yummy interesting add for flavor! The go to here is generally roasted oolong, brown sugar milk tea, or their dragon fruit smooth (it is pretty unique and delicious). I think this place have been here since the beginning of time when I was in hs, I am glad they were able to rebrand and continue! Private parking lot available, and bathroom as well. I love coming here for their Fruit Teas and Roasted Oolong MT! Their boba is always very chewy and warm whenever I get it. Their cups always have the cutest designs too! Their employee Tracy is always such a sweetheart and so welcoming every time my boyfriend and I come. The service is always so quick and we're usually in and out in less than 5 minutes. My name is Captain Shepherd (cap), and this is my favorite boba store in the world - yes, the entire world! That being said, I don't really drink boba and I haven't really tried the boba here and I honestly can't really judge boba. Though the deals are often pretty good and I've been told by others that the boba is solid. Why is it my favorite? Because for reasons completely unknown to my desiccated yet somehow still smooth brain, this place has absolutely amazing food. The chicken nuggets are incredibly juicy, hot, and has tons of meats inside. Furthermore, the dipping sauces are unique (many different kinds) and generally each of them are solid, including the house special sauce. I'm generally not a fan of fried chicken at boba places - often too much fried and not enough chicken when the two need to blend together in harmony like that turtle from Kung Fu Panda (which I watched this week so it'll be my personality for 3.5 more days) - but this fried chicken was fantastic! The sandwich specials are also just extremely good. For a pretty low price (I remember like $6 or so), you get essentially a xxx melt (I think the beef sandwich is basically a tastier, Cantonese version of a patty melt) alongside a bunch of pretty good fries. Honestly, this is much tastier, fresher, and even cheaper (at this point) than almost any actual fast food option. Like if you want a cheap, fast burger - Twinkle Tea is unironically the best place in the LA area to go. Furthermore, you can dip the fries in their fancy sauces - AND their selection of sandwiches is pretty unique, a lot of stuff you wouldn't see at most places. Also, you can get chicken nuggets for pretty cheap and they're solid. All in all, this is more or less my favorite place in the LA area for cheap burger meals. Drove past many times and finally decided to come and check it out. There is usually a line at night and we came in with a very short line. Ordered a Mango Lemonade Slush and HK Lemon Iced Tea. Waited a few minutes and the drink was ready. Mango Lemonade 2.5/5: It was watered down but it may be because I ordered it as a slush, but it wasn't very lemonade-y and the mango tasted very syrupy. Didn't even finish the drink. HK Iced Lemon Tea 2.5/5: It was very dark in color, but it didn't taste like the classic HK lemon iced tea. I don't think they used the right tea bag for the drink and that's why it fell short. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things, but I may want to give it one more try one day. read more

When I'm in the Alhambra area, this is one of my go to boba spot. I really like their brown sugar milk tea with boba. I get it with full sugar and it's still not overly sweet. The boba is always warm and chewy. I also always have to order their waffle puff. It is so good and taste so authentic. I've had their chicken nuggets too and they were tasty. I like that they have a rewards program. You collect points for every dollar spent. I feel that every two visits, I'm always getting a $5 reward. Went last night. First time visiting and I wanted to come because my friend was craving brick toast and they were open late, which was perfect since we wanted to visit after our movie. He said they did a great job balancing a toasty outside, but soft and moist inside on the toast. I was happily eating their takoyaki. Great flavor, very generous with the bonito flakes and sauce! Was hoping they'd be crispy, but with all that sauce, it'd be pretty difficult. Still delicious even soggy. He enjoyed his mango black tea with boba and I loved the lychee lemonade. I tasted more lychee than lemonade, but that's fine because I like lychee more anyway! I liked ordering from a touch screen because it helps me keep track of everything. Less likely to forget stuff. Plus, it takes some of the work off their employees. Who were very nice! I also talked to their manager or maybe owner? Earlier today about an issue that wasn't their fault, but that they needed to know about. Very appreciative, understood the problem, and said she'd fix it right away. Excellent service. This location is pretty small. They only have 2 tables. When you walk in there's two kiosks you can self-order from or you can order at the cash register. The parking lot isn't the biggest but I've never had trouble finding parking. egg waffle: I love the egg waffles. They have an option to add flavors (red bean/matcha/chocolate) to it for an additional dollar. I got both the regular egg waffle and one chocolate egg waffle. I was not the biggest fan of the chocolate one but my friend enjoyed it! It took about 10 minutes for them to make it but it's worth the wait. popcorn chicken: This also took about 10 minutes to come out. The chicken itself was not bad but I was not a fan of the seasoning. Towards the end, I started to notice some discoloring on the chicken (almost greenish/grey). You can place the order at the kiosk once you go inside. They have lots of options on their very big menu. If it's your first time here and you haven't checked out what they have, it may take you longer to decide what to order, especially if you want something different. They have very cute cup designs. If they have cup covers instead of the sealing, I would consider saving the cup. Just too cute! I got the Cheese Four Seasons Oolong Tea and the Fluffy Jasmine Green Tea. My friend and I were walking along Valley after dinner at Ipoh Kopitiam, and I stumbled upon Twinkle Tea, a boba location that I've neither heard of or tried. I saw a poster ad outside that they have HK Lemon Iced Tea and HK Style Milk Tea (HK = Hong Kong) for $2.99 - how can you beat that in 2022?! I ordered a HK Style Milk Tea with agar boba at half sweetness, and I was impressed. I've tried many locations make HK Style Milk Tea, and it often comes out too sweet or too bitter, but Twinkle Tea does it just right at half sugar. All my expectations were met, and I also enjoyed their cups and graphics. Parking here is facile, since there is a medium sized lot that is mostly empty at night. If not, there is also parking across the street at a larger plaza. ------ As an aside, I sorted some recent Yelp reviews and before ordering noticed something in common: Most of the lower reviews are people hating on the Brown Sugar Milk Tea. This leads me to have two responses: (1) I hope no one orders this expecting a different result within a week... unless of course they didn't read the Yelp Reviews before coming, or... They do have a couple board games surprisingly though. I'm actually surprised that despite the size of this cafe, they offer so much. We got the: 1) HK Style Milk Tea (25% sweet, with boba): -Definitely a steal for this price and at that level sweetness you definitely taste the flavor of the tea. -Really liked my order since the sweet brown sugariness of the boba balanced the milk tea perfectly. -Be warned, their teas are STRONG. I dumbly drank this at 10 PM and stayed up until almost 4 AM, when in most cases, I can down milk tea and sleep easily. 2) Chicken Nuggets with signature sauce: -$4 for 8 pieces, not bad! -Signature sauce actually has a good spicy, chipotle kick. Surprising and super yummy. -Imagine way crispier McDonald's chicken nuggets. Tastes like that. -Great snack for sure. It's an old mom and pop shop in Alhambra. I used to come here to study all the time. Back then I didn't think their drinks are as good but try their drinks again today. My opinion has change and for it quality and price, it is pretty good for what it is. It a very small shop so not much seating if you want to hang out with friends there. First time visiting Twinkle Tea, which was recommended for a meeting place by our friend. We went in the afternoon, and found it to be cheerful and pleasant inside. Although it is pretty small, we got a table where the three of us sat comfortably once our friend arrived. I ordered the signature milk tea with boba, which was great! Flavor was perfect and it was so refreshing on a hot day. Also ordered the popcorn chicken, which was only okay. The flavor and seasoning was good, however, it was the breading that I didn't care for. Maybe there was too much breading, or something about the texture of the breading that was not appealing. It had somewhat of a gristle-like consistency. But overall, we had a very enjoyable experience and I would recommend Twinkle Tea for their milk tea!
