Lately, I have been craving popcorn chicken, and I have always wanted to give this local boba shop a try. I ordered a mild popcorn chicken, and I chose their signature + sweet chili sauces as my condiments (it is a $.50 surcharge for another sauce). This popcorn chicken was delicious! The breading was SO CRISPY, and the meat was juicy. The scent was strong of many herbs. It reminded me a lot of spicy curry. The mildness of the chicken was just the right amount of spice. There is definitely lots of that salty flavor in here but the chicken paired AMAZINGLY with the sweet chili sauce. The sweetness balanced out the saltiness of the chicken, and it was just perfection. Definitely coming here again for a popcorn chicken fix, and I look forward to trying their drinks! read more

After a lackluster experience at a noodle restaurant just down the street (aside: a restaurant I first visited 20 years ago that has gone WAY downhill....) my kids wanted boba drinks to offset the brine-poisoning from various pho, ramen, fish sauce and peanut-based dips dredged by hand-held appetizers. As we headed east on Valley, there was no shortage of boba places-- we had never tried Twinkle, so we.... Drove right past it. And then, after four right turns around the block, we pulled into... well, there should be a parking lot here, but instead we're going the wrong way into a drive through drinking water place... and the four spots behind Twinkle have cars in them... jeez, Ok it's Sunday and the bank is closed, let's just park here.... With the car parked, we masked up and went inside. Most of the seating was stacked high along the narrow corridor between the prep-kitchen and the front glass, heading back towards the gender neutral restroom. The menu is substantial-- no, not the chalk-written one; the printed one taped to the window and the counter in front of the register. Too many choices for my kids, so the really nice young man behind the counter made a few recommendations for my indecisive offspring, to go with my boba nai cha. Waited a couple of minutes while they prepped and sealed the drinks, and took them to go. Maybe we got lucky or maybe they're that good... but in a word: WOW. The strawberry smoothie, and the chocolate banana drinks my kids ordered were really good! Perfectly blended and still ice cold yet viscous enough to allow those perfectly cooked sweet boba to do their thing in the big straw. As for my milk tea, I happen to enjoy the drink most when it's not too sweet and the black tea is strong. My drink had BOTH of these awesome qualities, and while I didn't ask for it any special way, their menu version right off the assembly line was (hyperbole alert) one of the best I've ever had. Sure, parking here on busy Valley Blvd. is interesting, but worth a few non-ballistic motions to get here. I really didn't like my drink but I am willing to try this place again. It was my first time here and I was excited to try this place out given their reviews but honestly there are just better options. I ordered the brown sugar milk tea as it was the number 1 recommended. There was nothing special. Literally just a regular milk tea, not even brown sugar flavored. Just black tea and milk. Yeah no thank you, definitely was not what I was expecting. However they have many drink options so I am definitely open to coming back and trying more drinks. In February I decided to give this place another shot. I ordered the same thing as I did the previous time to see if it had improved. However like the last visit, I got sick. This place uses non dairy creamer in their brown sugar milk tea. If you are allergic to any possible ingredient from the variety that could be in non dairy creamer, ask for ingredients or go someplace else with better tea. A convenient location for drinks and snacks like the egg waffle. I ordered an uji matcha unsweetened tea with agar boba and an egg waffle. Price of the egg waffle similar with other locations in the $4.50 range. It was nice and crispy and just the right amount of sweetness. The tea was a good size and you can customize the milk option with a 50 cent extra charge for oat or almond milk. I will definitely come back and try their milk teas and other toppings like boba, red bean or ice cream too. There is no sit down inside so you just order and go. My husband ordered the brown sugar milk tea w/boba and I ordered the blended Thai tea half sweetened (still very sweet). Overall, alright boba. One star taken off the super chewiness of the boba balls (felt like the boba wasn't fully cooked through till the center). Otherwise, no complaints. read more

Updating my review. I gave them 5 stars and still sticking with 5 lol! Just wanted to update that I got the Tea Float which is milk tea with ice cream. I got the Roasted Oolong milk tea with 0% sugar and half a splash of hazelnut -- and I REALLY enjoyed it! This is more for people who like that coffee-request flavor profile. I also (as mentioned in my prev post) don't like things too sweet so for others they might want 25 or 50% sweetness, BUT keep in mind the ice cream AND the hazelnut syrup also add sweetness. I also wanted to add that I appreciate that they have at least some food options (beyond just finger foods) and that's nice when I'm trying to get my boba and a bite to save time. read more

This review is long due for how often I come. I really love their Twinkle fruit tea here. The drink comes with a good amount of fresh fruits inside (strawberry, kiwi, and i think mango?) . They usually try to layer the fruits to make it look prettier too, almost rainbow like! I used to order this drink in regular sweet, but recently started trying to cut down on sugar. I have tried both 75 and 50% sugar, and the tea still tastes good! My partner usually orders their thai tea, but he recommended getting it normal sweetness, since doing 75% once ruined the flavor for him. Their boba is decent, not the best, but the prices are cheap compared to many other boba shops we often visit. Their popcorn chicken was okay. It's not great or terrible, but mine came pretty soggy even though I ate it immediately in the car. Perhaps it will taste better if I buy it in person after the pandemic. Their egg waffles have the right flavor I look for when I make it myself or order it from places, but sometimes it comes soggy too. During covid, we usually order and pick up, and they are always on time with the time estimate they give us. Their parking lot is small, but it's not hard to find a spot. They are pretty fast with their drinks, so the line is usually short and moves very quickly. read more

Been coming to this tea shop since 2019 and I love it! I used to really drive out from Burbank to Alhambra just to go here, but since I met my partner who lives down the street, we're here a lot of the time haha Love that it stays open late too, perfect for some late night cravings. I enjoy the different types of drinks they have to offer and the hot food is good too! My partner loves the fried tofu especially. I've always been super fond of TBS because of their brown sugar boba milk tea, but def noticed the quality varies per location. Over the last 4 years their formula seems to have also changed, and lost the true brown sugar flavor. Regardless, I still come here because I like their boba and the Thai tea sea salt! (But also, there's too many boba places now and I'm too lazy to try a new place and be disappointed). -1 no parking. This place is located in this weird corner next to a water filling station. Lots of options here at this boba spot - it was a little overwhelming at first! With all the drink and snack options, there's a good chance everyone in your party will find something they want (we went with a group of 7). That being said, the overall consensus was that the drinks were decent. Some were a little too sweet, and some were too weak in flavor, but everyone still enjoyed their drinks. The boba was soft and delicious this time around, so that was nice. We've come here multiple times and found the quality to be inconsistent even when ordering the same drinks with the same adjustments. Sometimes it's fantastic, and sometimes it's just alright like this time. I personally got the Brown Sugar Milk Tea with Boba (half sweet). It felt like there was something missing in terms of the blending of the ingredients, but I still enjoyed it. Any sweeter, and it would've been too sweet (at least for me). For example, I find most drinks at places like Starbucks to be too sweet. Service was friendly and helpful. They had mixed up one of the drinks but were very polite about getting it fixed right away. The drink I got was life changing honestly (Lychee Smoothie w/ Mango Jelly), every aspect of it was something different and new. I didn't expect the mango jelly to be in a star shape, but that just made it even better. Furthermore, they have a variety of drinks, just make sure you get something delicious. More of a to go place rather than sit down. Only a couple of tables to sit and a bar countertop. Service can take a while if they're busy, but the workers definitely hustle. Lots of boba places in the area so it's competitive. I wouldn't say Twinkle is the best, but for the pricing and selection it's a good option if you're in the neighborhood. 4 stars I've been to this and Pasadena's location a couple of times each. Their drinks have always been consistent and reliable. My go-to drink has always been their Thai tea at 75% sugar and less sugar. This trip, I decided to try their Sea Salt Thai Tea at 50% sugar, no ice, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream (extra $1). Twinkle Brown Sugar is the place for a great overall experience. Drinks, food, service, affordability, and ambiance is a great blend of what you want. After coming here for a long time, I think TBS has stuck to its authenticity in serving the community. Drinks are all super good and it isn't watered down like how other places do it. My favorites are a rose lychee green tea, lemon tea, and brown sugar fluffy coffee, Their menu is so expansive so I'm sure you'll find something you will like. The food is also really good. Their takoyaki is my favorite and it's as close to getting them at Little Tokyo without fighting traffic and for parking. Not to mention, it is actually not super expensive, and it's at a fair price. Service here is a hit or miss but I think its pretty standard for a boba shop. You order, you pick it up, and you leave. Before COVID-19, studying here has also been a hit or miss. If you come before 3 pm, it's fairly empty and you can study. After 3 pm, it gets quite loud. So depending on how you work, TBS is a mix of reviews. Discovered Twinkle Brown Sugar on an evening walk. Shocked that they were still open after 9pm. The sweet smell of sugar and baked goods wafting out from the open doors drew us in. We ordered the marshmallow sweet butter toast to go. We warmed up our treat in the toaster oven when got home, drizzled the cream and chocolate topping, and dug in. Super sweet, super delicious. A big enough portion where we could have easily split the toast among 4 people. We would have loved to have a treat and enjoy the space. The small shop was well lit, with cool light fixtures, and numerous games available. I can see, under normal circumstances, how this might be a popular hang out location. Once the threat of covid-19 passes and life gets back to normal, Twinkle Brown Sugar will be on the list for another visit. read more

The service is pretty quick as well so I didn't wait long at all. The atmosphere is kinda modern on the inside but the place is more like a take-out instead of a dine in place. The location of this place is soooo bad, because I use to live less than a 5 minute walking distance from this place. so I would frequent ALL THE TIME. not to mention they would have happy hour from 1-6pm and have $2 Hong Kong style milk tea, and its GOOD. some places suck at making it but this is almost as good as at the one from HK. This is an ok boba shop. Drinks are ok-good. Staffs are nice. They're also one of the few boba shops that offer food. They have the fried stuff like popcorn chicken and sweets like hk egg waffle. These are the kind of stuff great to eat while hanging out! But place is small, especially since the pandemic, they only have like 2 tables inside, so not great for hanging out. Twinkle Tea is a good dependable option for boba. It doesn't necessarily have the craziest, most innovative drinks, or the most unique branding/cups. However, it is very solid in what it produces, and I appreciate that it always seems to be open whenever other stores are not. I usually order something different everytime, since they have such a large number of drinks, but I definitely want to shout out their "Happy Hour" deal, which is their HK Style Milk Tea that is crazy cheap (Well at least for Boba nowadays). But I ordered fruit tea and fruit seemed fresh, but super raw and not at all ripe. Tea flavor was quite strong, which I liked. Their popcorn chicken though fell apart completely and looked that the fried part seemed mostly ALL crispy onions, which was the first I've ever seen.
