Five of us went for lunch March 7, 2017 and no one was disappointed! The JDF salmon tacos never let me down. Others had the TC burger which was cooked to perfection and the blue cheese in the slaw made all the difference. The Reuben ranked as an all time favorite for one of our party. We were celebrating a birthday and since my tacos took a bit longer since they would prefer to get them right over sending out over cooked shells we were given a dessert plate which was over the top decadent. And while we will admit our daughter works there as a server it does not taint our opinion of great food. She's always touting how great the desserts are even though we rarely have room for them. The ice cream had flecks of orange rind on top of a warm brownie that we will rethink adding dessert on future visits. It was a chocolate lovers dream. Headed to Twisted Cork Bistro a few weeks ago for Sat. night date night and I was so happy we chose this place! Looking forward to going back What I liked: -Fresh & quality ingredients used -Great selection of wines and beer -Portions weren't too small and weren't too big where you felt "oh boy, need to put on the sweatpants" -Had the burger---YUM!!!! *GREAT burger---such great flavor and juicy -Awesome bleu cheese apple coleslaw--crunchy!! -Shrimp and scallops were cooked spot on!! -Had the most delicious scratch rhubarb cheesecake..couldn't had a few more pieces -Great service, a lot of heart and pride goes into this restaurant-our server was very attentive -A lot of people there were regulars and knew the owners that were there I hope this Bistro continues to have a great menu---can't wait to go back. read more

This is the perfect place for a Friday Funday! I had the Juan de Fuca Tacos and my sister had the Twisted Cork Burger. Both were made with super fresh ingredients and each had a unique twist to them - delicious! I'd also highly recommend the Templeton Mule from their Libations Menu. Our server was super nice and genuine; he even came to wish us a good day as we got into our car. Went to twisted cork for a post valentine's day brunch and wasn't overly impressed. The Bloody Mary with pickled asparagus was my favorite. Was excited for bacon jam on the bacon Benedict but I don't think it was there at all and the bread was very tough. The bread on the totem tartine was also very tough. Went with coworkers to this spot for dinner. What a great place! They have a wonderful menu and the service is top notch! I believe our server's name was Tami. She took wonderful care of us! The inside is well decorated. The menu is great too. We shared an appetizer of pistachio wasabi ahi. Great flavor. I had the Zipline beer, which I was thrilled to find they had an altbier. If you're into those, this is a nice one. Not too heavy, good flavor. For my entree, I went with the prairie fire, thanks to our servers recommendation. It exceeded my expectations. At first I was a little upset when I called and was told I wouldn't need a reservation only to show up and find that we would have to wait for not having a reservation. However, the staff did a phenomenal job in managing my irritation by doing everything they could to get us a table as soon as possible. They even bought a nice couple a cocktail for moving to the bar while we waited. Our waitress was great and very patient with us as we asked many questions about the menu. We were sold on the Whidbey shrimp and the lavosh for appetizers. My son settled on the hamburger which he truly enjoyed. My mother and I got the scallops which were amazing and came highly recommended. My stepfather enjoyed the Twisted Sister entree. We finished the night of with an espresso and ice cream treat that the restaurant bought for us since it was my birthday. I need to apologize to the kitchen staff as I forgot to buy them a six pack before I left. Heard the prime rib was great from the couple that gave up the table for my family and I. AWESOME Omaha Dining! We enjoyed a Christmas Eve brunch here, and it was absolutely amazing! Started with a shrimp appetizer that was a perfect arrangement of flavors and textures (shrimp, avocado, grapefruit and killer vinaigrette). The burger was awesome, and I say do believe the hype on this one! The ahi benedict was simply incredible, the wasabi hollandaise is out of this world. We also really enjoyed our fresh squeezed mimosas and craft ales. We appreciate everything about this place, especially its farm to table philosophy! If you are in Omaha, The Twisted Cork is the place to visit. We had the corn soup (excellent), scallops (excellent) and the bone in pork chop (pretty darn good). I usually never do a review for anything, but this time around I felt like it was the right thing to do. I used to be a regular at the Twisted Cork Bistro, mainly for lunches, but I have also had several dinners in there. I had been going there for well over two years and enjoyed the food and the staff. Always a fun experience and some of the servers at lunch used to crack me up. You walked away feeling pretty darn good. But over the past several months things have changed. Food has taken a nose dive in quality and consistency. For example, I used to love the salmon fish tacos, for some reason the kitchen is now overcooking the salmon. Thank goodness for the miso glaze and the bacon mayo or they would be inedible. The bang bang chicken now seems to be served with chicken pieces and parts. The reuben sandwich, which started out really good, has recently went through phases from salty to bland to chewy to fatty. Again there is no consistency. And the recent dinners have, well honestly not been very good. The steaks have gone way downhill and I feel like I am getting a mystery cut. And in my wife's case, they either overcook it or undercook the steak. Speaking of overcooked, the last dinner I had in there, the tuna was overcooked! Overcooking tuna is a big no-no. Overall dinners seem to be sloppy and inconsistent. I did find out from a couple servers that the kitchen staff is all pretty new as most of the people who had been there for a while are now gone. That explains a lot. But it seems like someone forgot to train these people or someone is not watching what is happening. Now to the staff. I am not sure what has happened here, but there are a lot of new servers and to be completely honest, they are not as personable or as fun as the ones who have been there for a long time. In fact, I am not sure where some of the older ones are now. Maybe they have left or they are not working as many hours or are on different days and I keep missing them. I do miss the fun from them. Or maybe it is the over focus on the tavern expansion, which is great for the owners I guess, but not for me. I am there for the food and the wine. I do not think of the Twisted Cork as the bar or tavern or whatever to go get a drink. There are plenty of places in Omaha for that. Good luck to them on the tavern, but my suggestion is not to lose focus on what brought people in, which was the interesting and good food along with the personal touch from the staff. I feel both of those are only a shell of what they used to be. read more

My husband and I are traveling across country and like to use Yelp to find great places to taste local fare and this place was at the top of our list. We shared a cup of gazpacho, it was loaded with fresh flavor and so good we had them package up the remaining for a rest stop later in day. My husband had Seattle Teriyaki Bowl with marinated chicken/Jasmine rice/greens/miso-sesame-nut vinaigrette. He loved it, I thought the flavor was great. I had Shrimp Cobb with jumbo shrimp (tender & sweet)/mango/avocado/tomato/blue cheese/macadamia nuts/lime-jalapeño vinaigrette. A little heat but unbelievable on the taste buds. We loved everything so much we ordered a slice of homemade apple pie and a chocolate brownie cookie for the last 4 hours of our drive. I had lunch at The Twisted Cork Bistro while in Omaha for business. My favorite spot so far! I got the Caprese sandwich with the tomato soup. The soup was phenomenal, and it wad actually more of a roasted red pepper/tomato soup. A little, fantastic, kick to it. The sandwich was also delicious. My coworker had the smoked salmon and there was absolutely nothing left on his plate when he was finished, he made sure he got it all. I have two more weeks in Omaha and can't wait to go back for dinner and try some of their wine pairings. Oh, service was perfect too. Laura was very knowledgeable about the menu. We are visiting Omaha from California and hadn't found a decent restaurant until now!! Thanks to reviews on Yelp, we tried it and were pleasantly surprised! Loved the menu choices and variety to the point of making decisions very difficult. We ended up trying both soups, Nebraska Corn and Tomato-Pepper, both of which were delicious with just the right amount of spice! My husband loved the Maple Leaf Duckling with tasty sides of braised Brussel Sprouts and squash purée...very flavorful! I chose the ginger crusted salmon with jasmine rice & local veggies. The salmon melted in my mouth, very tasty,& I enjoyed every last bite! The quality of the food made our meal an excellent value for the money . read more

What has happened to the Twisted Cork Bistro? The food was outstanding but what really made this place was the great staff. They had a couple of really odd guys in the kitchen who could work magic with food. They were incredible. The kitchen staff has now changed and so has the quality and taste of the food. The food is Ok but not special. The waiters and waitresses always made me feel like family and remembered me. Now, most of the great people who were friends are gone. My favorite restaurant in Omaha--extraordinary farm-to-table food made from creatures that we've never tortured--although vegetarian options abound also. The fish tacos are special, the cheeseburger is to write home about, and the soups are splendid. The décor is interesting, and the drink choices, particularly the beers, suit any palette and are almost all from microbreweries. And the folks are friendly and the service great. I have been to the restaurant several times and at several different eating hours, both lunch and dinner. At lunch, the service is great. There are actually TWO people taking orders and putting them into the computer and tending to guests. Wow, sure does make a whole lot of sense with having a dozen tables! At Dinner ( and I've been there the two nights you're open- Fri and Sat) ther service is different and I end up watching an older lady chat all the time and a younger lady seating new guests, refilling glasses, clearing tables and taking dishes out to tables but not taking orders? I know I am only one guest at your establishment, but I wonder why you have two people taking orders at lunch and only one taking orders at dinner, surely you could figure something out! read more

Arrived at dinner later in the evening around 8:30 with a group of about 5 couples. We had reservations. Our waitress Stefanie had help with keeping our water glasses filled, but was annoyed when my wife asked for a clean glass when she found black stuff floating in the bottom. She never apologized. My hamburger ($15) came a little warmer than room temp. It had good tasted, but would have been so much better hot. The kettle chips were nothing more than stale ruffles from a bag. Stefanie did not come back to ask how our food was. My wife enjoyed her mussels. Strong blue cheese flavor to them. Stefanie was also annoyed when I asked for my check and she realized we would like separate checks. Parking is easy. Ambiance is nice. Probably be awhile before I come back. read more

I have visited this restaurant twice and enjoyed the food both times. The first visit I ordered fish tacos bust asked if shrimp could be substituted for the fish which they did with no problem. My husband ordered the burger and was very happy, but we couldn't say it was the best burger we've ever had. The beer selection is great, love that there are options from breweries in the Oregon area. The second time we visited we had family with us visiting from San Francisco so we brought them here as it's always a challenge to find unique food options in the Omaha area that they haven't had in SF. Our tab was supposed to be paid for by my boss, and the server completely forgot and had my boss' credit card information out on the server table for all passing by to see. This is no reflection on the good food, but it was poor service and an apology should have been sent to my boss. The atmosphere is cozy and chill; very nice for a night out with your spouse or a small group of friends. I would not recommend it for a large group or children. read more

First time at this restaurant. My husband and I had a gift card, so decided to go during their happy hour. Atmosphere was awesome as was our waitress! (So sorry I cannot remember your name)! We both had a glass of their red wine, which was very good! $5 for a generous pour...great deal! We then tried their Local cheese plate...also very good. We moved on to their Burger Sliders, which were DELICIOUS!!! And finally their Juan de Fula Tacos that were scrumptious! We will be going back and bringing Lincoln friends with us! Phenomenal!!!! I've traveled all 50 states and this is some of the best food I've ever had... the fish taco and sliders on the tavern early menu were simply amazing. These tavern menu items are based on the Juan de Fuca Tacos and Twisted Cork Burger. I couldn't decide which one I liked better -- maybe they compliment each other like surf and turf. I re-ordered both. The slider burger with Elmwood, Nebraska beef and pork -- with a spice that really makes the full and interesting flavor -- not sure what that spice was, don't care, just know it was -- amazing! The pickled onion and cole slaw were pure genius to compliment the taste of the burger. The bread choice was also genius and perfectly prepared to compliment the burger -- a lot of times, I leave the bun behind, not this time. And the mustard sauce -- Wow!!! Perfect!!!! The chef should patent these flavors! On to the surf -- the fish taco had this glaze sweet sauce concoction with the bacon mayo and avocado aioli that can't be described as much as it must be experienced with eyes closed and taste buds in full celebration of the symphony of flavors. Again, phenomenal!!! The salmon is the perfect fish for this sauce, the spices, and the veggies all together in a familiar yet crispy and light blue corn taco shell. The next time I'm traveling cross country on I-80 through Omaha, this will be a Must Stop - I'll probably plan a hotel stay nearby so I can fully enjoy the outstanding beer selection including the Nebraska Brewing Company IPA! Surprised to find a Seattle styled wine bar restaurant in Omaha. Wine selection is great, service top shelf, and delicious food. You must order the Lavosh. Artichoke hearts, goat cheese and basil pesto on crispy flat bread. Make a reservation, and expect a terrific experience. read more
