They helped us majorly again today when a car battery died in one of our vehicles. Bucky's got us in the next day diagnosing and fixed the problem for free. My wife practically had to force money as a tip on the manager who helped us. I have had a lot of adventures with auto mechanics but this Bucky's has always been dependable and helpful. Fair pricing and honest. Really my best experiences with auto mechanics have been at this location. I can't speak for other Bucky's but this one is our go to when we need anything with our cars. There's also a really neat bowling alley across the street with a great restaurant and miniature golf. Many times in the past I have gone across the street to Tower Lanes to eat breakfast or throw a few games while the guys at Bucky's do their thing. Something to consider if you have a few hours to kill down there.

Prior to that, I had already paid $1,200 at Greg's Japanese Auto for a full diagnostic, which confirmed the issue was a gasket. I shared this information when I dropped off my car. From that point forward, communication was extremely poor. I had to repeatedly call for updates, as promised callbacks were never made. On multiple occasions (April 22-24), I was told someone would follow up by the end of the day, but no one did. When I specifically asked to be contacted directly as the owner, they continued calling my husband instead. Despite already knowing the issue, the shop took over a week just to confirm it again and didn't even order parts until the end of that timeline. Many days--and even entire weeks--went by with zero communication unless I initiated contact. The most concerning issue is the lack of transparency, especially regarding cost. The last quoted price we were given was $6,200, and we were never contacted about any changes to pricing, parts, or services. We have now been told the total is $7,800, which is a significant increase that was never discussed or approved beforehand. At this point, I still have not received my car and am being told it "should" be ready today. I have been without my vehicle for well over a month. This has forced me to cancel plans and rearrange my schedule multiple times, adding unnecessary stress and disruption. Additional concerns include: No proactive updates for long stretches (including May 11-22) Delays in starting work with no clear explanation New issues (such as needing to order a special tool) were never communicated until I followed up Failure to follow direct instructions on who to contact When I spoke to the manager, Matt, I expressed concerns about the lack of communication and was told it would be addressed. Unfortunately, nothing improved. I understand that repairs can take time. What is not acceptable is leaving customers completely in the dark for weeks, requiring them to chase updates, and then presenting a significantly higher bill without prior approval. At minimum, customers should expect: Timely and honest communication Follow-through on promised callbacks Clear authorization for any cost increases Unfortunately, this experience fell far short of those expectations. They then did the car check, and said it's the breaks. Charged me $600 for my front breaks and tightened my belt. Well now my breaks are rattling, my belt snapped off yesterday while driving. And they told me basically "oh no we didn't listen to the actual problem, but we can't do anything." Like be foreal. You just wanted to get your store goals and take peoples money. I have the names of the people who worked on the said vehicle. DO NOT GO HERE. The older gentleman yes was nice, but once he got back from the test drive. When Tuesday…read morearrived, we hadn't heard anything so we called them at 145PM (appointment was supposed to be at 330pm) to ask if they were tracking our appointment. Joey said that the scheduler had been down since Monday and they had no record of our appointment. We made the appointment last week on Thursday so no idea why that would matter. He said bring the car in and they would do their best to get to it. We showed up at 330pm, Joey was out. We talked to the guy at the counter, he said we could bring it back Thursday or Friday to get it done. We told him Joey said to bring it in today. He called Joey, who told him that he called us at 1115am and left a voicemail (we never got a call or voicemail) and said it wouldn't be today. Nobody knew we had an appointment until we called them at 145pm, so no idea where that even came from. After some back and forth, we were told to come back Friday morning at 9am to get it done. We wanted to just take the tires and go somewhere else, but everything had already been paid for online so we agreed. Showed up at 9am, dropped the car off for the tires to be put on and got the call to come back a couple hours later. We noticed that the words "INSIDE" were on the outside of 3 of the 4 tires, and asked the tech if that was supposed to be like that, since these were asymmetrical tires with different tread patterns on the inner & outer edges. He said it was fine, and the inside/outside words didn't matter. We also pointed out that they had put both 255 tires on one side of the car, and both 235 tires on the other side. They were supposed to be 235s in the front and 255s in the back. He took the car back in and swapped the tires to the correct position and we left. When we took the car on the highway, we felt some vibration. Suspecting the tires were either mounted/balanced incorrectly, or the inside/outside words mattered (like we brought up to the tech), we had the VW dealership take a look at our service appointment a week later. They told us flat out it was wrong and we should take it back for them to fix. We were already done with this shop at this point, so we just paid for VW to remove the tires from the rims and flip them so the orientation words were displayed correctly and rebalance them. Vibration gone, ride is way smoother.

The previous work that was done (other shops) on the 4Runner had some mistakes, which he pointed out. He then rated the damage or concerns on what needed to be watched or fixed. In the end he didn't need to do the work we thought was needed (a transmission issue), but he was able to earn a new customer by being thorough in his safety check and articulation of problems he found. He did fix a suspension squeak that was driving me nuts! And triaged another one that I can fix or repair.
