I've had Twisted Turban on my radar for quite some time, but never got around to trying it mainly because of how far it is from where I live. I finally got a chance to try it out with some friends on a Saturday for lunch, right when they opened. The restaurant shares a strip with a few other businesses and has parking right out front. Parking was easy when I arrived, but was pretty full when I was leaving. We were the first to arrive so the place was empty and it stayed that way until halfway through the meal when it picked up a steady stream of customers. The owner of the place was taking orders and service was great. From the name of the place, I am sure you can tell this is a fusion burger spot. The menu had quite a few interesting items for being a fast casual burger spot. For apps they had items like loaded tots and fries, nachos and samosa chaat. You can also get the chaat twisted with a little Texas flair. The fusion did not stop there. They had fusion burgers, pasta, salads, tacos and quesadillas just to name a few. My mind was on a burger and usually when checking out a burger spot for the first time, I go with a traditional cheeseburger just to get a proper introduction to the place. If they can't execute a regular burger, then why try the elevated stuff. The unique burgers looked so tempting so I went with the Turban Burger which was highly recommended by the owner and one of their popular sellers. This burger consisted of a grilled burger, topped with brisket, muenster cheese, mango slaw and turban sauce. He said if I like a little heat, this is the burger to get. The burgers came out in timely manner and looked amazing. The burger was large but messy. The first bite had sauce dripping all over the place but a tasty bite it was. I was immediately impressed with all the different flavors working in perfect harmony. I've never had muenster on a burger but it worked so well with it. The mango slaw was a game changer as well. It added a sweet heat that I did not know I needed in a burger. I don't know what turban sauce is, but it was delicious as well. The fries that came with it was a small serving, but it was perfectly fried and seasoned. They only have bottled drinks here which is not a preference of mine, but it did the job. They have a few dessert items but we did not partake. This place is pretty far from my side of town, but I can see myself driving out of the way to come check out more of their menu. I will be back!
What a unique bite ! Went in there for a quick snack- ended up eating an entire meal and then some to go I love that most things can be made vegetarian. Fries were well seasoned with Indian spices. But not too overwhelming. 6-8$ for a taco is a good deal- each taco comes on a hearty puff pastry paratha which in itself is a meal !. - cauliflower paneer tacos were amazing. Not too spicy with a tangy tamarind slaw on top. - pico chicken taco I swear had an entire grilled chicken breast in there. Topped with a very spicy sauce- if you can't handle heat I'd still ask for it on the side because you don't want to miss it! - Samosa chat was also very good. But it definitely needed crispy texture and additional freshness that this lacked as a chaat. It seems out of place on the menu , but i mean what do i know, i'm not a chef. I'd skip this the next time. Service was fast & friendly. MINUS 1 star in total for - 2 meals we both found very heavy on the spice and because they were out of many fun things on their menu ( some savory and essentially all of their specialty desserts- they did have some frozen packaged kulfi ) Anyway - what a gem. cant wait to return!
Finally tried a mac and cheese chicken burger after wanting to try it for so long since its a perfect combo of my 2 favorite foods and it was definitely as tasty as I imagined it to be I also tried Twisted Turbans samosa chaat (which I got as a free appetizer from the app Fivestars) and even though ive had better samosa chaats, it was still very good! All their burgers also come with masala fries so thats a win win In my opinion the prices are a bit high compared to other desi fast food type restaurants but the quality and portions of the food here make up for it :)
Came here for the first time last night. The cashier was great at explaining the menu and helping us decide what to order. We decided to order the Samosa Chaat, the Peri Loco Taco and the Turban Burger. In terms of taste, this place was decent. Out of all the items we ordered the Turban Burger was the best. There were a few things with each dish that were not completed per their description. The samosa chaat was missing the pomegranate seeds and included mostly chickpeas in the dish. While the Turban Burger was good, the fries with them were cold when we received them. Lastly the Peri Loco Taco, the chicken was cooked well and juicy, but did not look like other pictures I've seen posted of the taco. The wrap was a little undercooked and was missing the cucumber and tomato (aside from the one piece ) topping. Overall the service was good, the interior is nice and clean, but the food kind of missed the mark.
This place definitely gets points for uniqueness. I ordered the turban burger that comes with brisket, their turban sauce, Cole slaw, and mangoes. The burger was tender, juicy and full of flavor. The turban sauce tasted a lot like Buffalo sauce and complimented the Cole slaw very well. The mangoes and brisket were a bit too absent in flavor/presence. You can tell they use frozen mangoes but a lot of the flavor was lost. The fries were a bit subpar, but I think the flavor of the burger made up for it. Fair warnings: They don't offer free water. They only have bottled water and other beverages you have to pay for. If you have a party of three or more, they charge you 10% gratuity even though they're not really someone waiting on you, which I thought didn't really make sense. Overall despite some of the nuances, I would definitely come and give this place another try.
I love the concept of Mexican south Asian fusion. Pretty genius if you ask me so I was super excited to get down with the food fusion. A few things to note, the actual space is not very big but has some cool graffiti art on one of the walls. The bathroom can definitely use some upgrading and general cleaning. Nothing I hate more than using a dirt bathroom and then having no soap to wash your hands... pretty gross They have canned and bottled drinks for purchase and no alcohol is sold in the establishment. I was very unimpressed with the street corn, I actually threw it away. Tasted like canned corn with some Mayo and some weak sriracha sauce . I also did not care for the samosa chaat, the mix of chutney with the potato gravy and chick peas with the samosa didn't work for me. Positive notes: I did like the tacos, loved the paratha. It was a nice change from the normal tortilla. The turban taco had great flavor with the braised beef and cabbage. The wrapchic is made with chicken tikka masala which had some great flavor.
This place is nothing but greatness - from the food to the service, everything was excellent!! My sister was hungry and wanted Whataburger. I was so against it. I stood my ground and drove to Twisted Turban once she scarfed down her burger up the street. (*side-eyeing her in the car*) Once inside, we were greeted by who I believe were the owners. What a warm welcome. After perusing the menu, I quickly decided what I wanted. I chose the wings. My mother, nephew and niece were also with us. My mother chose the Peri Peri wrap, and my nephew the Chicken Quesadilla. My sister couldn't stand that I chose a good place to eat so she ordered the Cajun Blackened Chicken Pasta that she shared with my niece. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. The food was so good! Not only was the food excellent, the portion size was just right. Of course, we felt like it was a lot but we definitely weren't complaining. While we waited for our food, we spoke with the guy that took our order. He was so nice and he took time to answer questions that we had about some of the menu items. We will definitely be back to visit. There are so many other yummy choices on the menu that we want to try.
Twisted Turban is awesome. I love it. A great Tex Mex Indian food. I have dined here a few times and the food and service has been great every single time. This last was no different. The place was completely packed and there was no spot to sit. We still went ahead and ordered with the hopes of somebody getting up soon. We ordered the turban tacos, the shrimp tacos, the turban burger, and the single wat burger. Loved the turban tacos, shredded beef and sauce. The shrimp tacos were good too, but they could add more meat to it so that the meat to tortilla ratio evens out. The turban burger was good too and so was the single wat. They were flavorful with nice size patty and fixings. My only suggestion is for them to add mayo or butter to the buns as the buns feel dry without it. Also, they need to grill the bun and not serve them at room temperature. Other than that, all is good. I've had their Chaat also on a separate occasion, and that's pretty good too. A good recommendation for yelpers, who haven't tried it out yet.

We had tater tots with beef (excellent!), plain nachos (skip-get the loaded ones instead), turban taco (skip-paratha doesn't make a good taco), goat cheese arugula salad (fantastic!), Turban burger (so-so- decent for halal). Didn't try the steak, but heard it's great. read more

First time trying this hole in the wall spot, I got their tacos which was basically filling wrapped in paratha and boy I must say that was the hit out of all the food items we got! I got the turban taco and blazin chicken wrap which was delish! I loved everything about both the tacos and have no complaints. It was spicy, savory, with a burst flavors...goodness! The loaded tater tots was flavorful but super greasy and oily, which after two bites made me full and i wasn't really able to enjoy it as much because of how heavy it felt. The samosa chaat was a let down, don't recommend getting that. My husband got the Turban Burger and he said it was delish and was craving it the next day! For dessert we got Fried Oreos, and it was a let down. I think desi business should stick with desi desserts and not try to westernize it too much. I'll come back for the tacos, burger, and will definitely want to try the Gajar halwa dessert next time! read more

This place is a hidden gem! I can't believe I haven't been here before. The burgers are out of this world phenomenal! I had the double watt with sweet potato fries and the chicken burger with mac and cheese. The chicken sandwich is perfectly spiced and the Mac and cheese is so creamy and delicious. By its self the mac and cheese is amazing but in the sandwich it takes it to the next level. The double watt burger is insanely huge and super stacked! It's got everything you want in a burger - bacon, fried cheese and two patties. The fried Oreos were very good too. Highly recommend Twisted turban! read more

This is a Mexican-Indian style halal establishment in Houston, Texas. They have many types of beef & chicken burgers, quesadillas, and tacos. The appetizers were our favorite thing we had! The turban burger has mango slaw in it which you wouldn't normally find but it fit the theme of their cuisine well. The double watt burger was pretty good. It is also available in a single patty for $12. The service was pretty quick. The appetizers were ready in about 5 minutes and burgers about 10 minutes. We loved the appetizers and drinks. Definitely stop by if you're in the area. read more

If you want instagram looking, go here. It looks delicious but it tastes mediocre in my opinion. It really wasn't that great... service was quite slow. Turban burger was different. Interesting to taste.. spicy chicken deluxe with with Mac was alright. Wasn't really spicy and Mac taste bland. Fries were crispy but not flavorful. It's worth a try and a pic for the gram. Delicious Indian-Mex fusion with thoughtful attention to detail. Things started off on the right foot because with my Chikna Burger combo, they offer Topo Chico mineral water. Note the combo includes a can drink so bottled drinks are extra - no big issue for a Topo Chico lover like me. The place is clean & nicely arranged with tables. I like they are open on Monday's versus a lot of Indian restaurant that tend to be closed today. (Here they close on Tuesday.) The Chikna burger is a ground chicken patty mixed with a lot of spices and spread with cilantro chutney plus cheese - delicious and juicy. The tots are fried just right with a sprinkle of spicy masala that reminds me of a Cajun salt. They also offered some spicy sauce on the side that doesn't come on the burger so I chose the Diablo sauce which is a mayo-based sauce with ghost pepper and habanero. It will light you up, be warned! After you heed my warning, enjoy the devilishly delicious sauce. I've been wanting to try this place out for a while so I'm glad the wait was worth it - highly recommended. read more

Twisted Turban? What's that? Tex- Indian kitchen? These were my thoughts at first! I had never heard of it before, but I looked at the menu and was ready to order everything on the menu! I couldn't because me and my wife are here because of the Burger binge event. So I had a few choices to make, either the Turban burger ( comes with brisket on it) or the Watt burger( normally it's a double burger) both are awesome! read more
First elite review ! yay ! The location is ok, the venue is kinda too hip to be there . Off of Tx 6, when I feel it s something that needs to be closer to memorial city to attract the right kind of eaters. That's a compliment because the food is a great 'fusion' take on traditional Indian and with popular fast food. So Indian style burgers, Kimchi tots, masala tacos - all cool stuff on the menu. The venue is clean, and enough seating if you go with friends . Lot of options if you got vegetarians in your gang. I went there with a buddy at lunch, I assumed that like most places with fast food lunch would be busy, but it wasn't . Good for us as the food didn't take long to arrive. Everything was good , the turban burger was better than the chikna burger - more flavor . However, I feel the food could use a little more zing: I am not sure if it's salt or spice , but it seemed it was toned down a notch . I give it a 4 because all things considered I would go there again and it's a fresh take on Indian food in HTX which is overflowing with usual Indian fare. read more

Bismillah... where do I begin. This fusion of flavors is a divine intervention for your taste buds. My first bites of these delicious burgers and tacos had my tongue exploding. It was like having a food boner in my mouth Mashallah just wonderful. I took some pics of my journey here and needless to say I was satisfied. I love the name of this business because it sounds like a cute nickname that Donald Trump would give one of his ethnic friends, if he had any. (I imagine that tweet looking something like "Move over Crooked Hillary, Little Marco, and Lyin' Ted, make room for the Twisted Turban in line at the Trump Tower taco bar!") I was first introduced to Twisted Turban as one of the food sponsors of the Yelp photography event at the Sunset coffee building. The food was excellent and the workers were excited about the brand - that is how you spread enthusiasm for your brand by being enthusiastic about it. It was a great introduction to the brand until [J-roc record scratch] I found out their restaurant was way out on the west side, basically in east San Antonio on the 6. As the world turns I had to be nearby to investigate a case [in Mr. New Vegas's voice] (in my best newsman fedora) I was recently appointed on and this is not a part of town I am ever in just for funsies, so I decided to make a lunch out of the experience before heading back inside the loop on this long haul truckin' route. I looked through reviews of other joints in the area, some closer to the site I was at further down the 6, but Eric C.'s glowing review of this joint sealed the deal. Eric is one of my most trusted confirmation-yelpers (we like similar stuff, hate similar stuff) and never steers you wrong so his five stars for this joint means it is ready to give you the Liz Lemon business when you are in the right mind to accept such hedonistic business. The menu had recently been updated and spruced up. My main interest was the turban burger because just like Bobandy and Philadelphia Collins I am a big fan of burgers, and I like to drive them into the olde Nova Scotian cheeseburger locker from the haute couture (Burger Nation's bacon mac daddy) to the dives that deliver flavour bombs (Petrol Station's rancor burger; Lankford's grim burger) to the locally owned purveyors of classic burgers to generations of families (The Nickel; Poppa Burger; Champ Burger; M&M; Acadian; Stanton; Bubba's; and Sparkle.) The turban burger ($9.99 for just burger) is a Texas inspired burger, at a tex-mex/Indian fusion type of place. Beef: 100% grass fed, hand made in house, and 0.5 pound patty. The beef is topped with slow roasted braised brisket, muenster cheese, mango slaw, and turban sauce. Burgers come medium-well standard but you can ask for something else. All items on menu are zabihah halal. The turban burger finds itself in the category of being a true flavour bomb because the beautiful beef is reminiscent of Chief Cajun and other ventures from the same chef; and yet as good as the beef is the ingredients really battle for the iron throne to distinguish themselves as the one true flavour. Everything in the turban burger works so well because all of the food is high quality, everything is high quality, and it is prepared with love back there in the kitchen. The turban sauce is really the BAM (or green eggs and HAMMMMMMM; or peanut butter and JAMMMMMMM) in the Philadelphia Collins family exuberance for all things burger and burger related. This food is amazing. I checked if the joint offered delivery to my neighborhood and alas it was too far to get back inside the loop (in all fairness it was a nearly two hour drive from the parking lot of this joint back downtown - some of which might have been holiday travel traffic but most of it was just the distance.) I would definitely be in favour of being able to pay a delivery charge to get it to me so I can get this food again without the monster drive taking a toll on this boy's soul. But I think we need drones for that kind of thing, or someone willing to Chamillionaire ride dirty (with my food in tow hopefully the Chamillionaire type and not the Lil Poundcake type of ridin' dirty) and do a minimum of 150 down the 10 into downtown with a devil may care attitude about anything, like the laws, besides delivering piping hot food to hungry hungry hippos that have as recently as ten minutes ago polished off a fresh quart of rye. The young lady behind the register was the same pleasant brand ambassador we met at the Yelp event, and she was happy we moseyed on in to their biz! Such a great, friendly experience at a counter service joint since that is really all the customer service you get, so if it is good then it is great like it is here! (But there was a surprise - more customer service than expected.) I was surprised to find an unexpected gift in my bag: free dessert! That is always a nice surprise. How could you say anything bad about this place? Excellent service. Fantastic food. Locally owned, and being intentional about serving the local community. I have not been treated like such a king like this in a long time. If you visit anywhere west of downtown because of a single yelp review make it the Twisted Turban down on Highway 6 for an outstanding experience, vouched for by Eric & Daniel with 5 stars each. read more
This place is a unique fusion place and very delicious ! We went on a quiet Friday afternoon and was served quickly. The parathas were a delicious taco shell and the taco I got had Cauliflower and spiced Paneer. The person working there was also patiently answering questions and even let us try their spicy sauce. Get the ranch, it's flavorful and was a good side. Covid precautions were all good only improvement would be to fill the touchless sanitizer/towel stands to make it more non-contact. There are a lot of vegetarian things on the menu that look delicious and I will have to come back to try more. I would also love a location closer to the inner loop. read more

Well dang. Left this place slightly disappointed. I came in after reading the great reviews and expected an amazing burger! Let's start from the beginning. I was with my husband, friend, and her fiancé. As soon as we walked in we immediately said how good it smelled! Our stomachs were ready to attack, especially seeing everyone's delicious looking food on their tables. Customer service was great! The guy at the register explained the menu to us so well that at that point we literally wanted to order everything. We got our appetizer which was the loaded fries with beef pretty fast. The rest of the food took a while to come out, but it was fine because we got to digest a bit. Let's go on to the rating! Loaded fries with beef- 5/5 This was truly the star of the show! We all loved it. Next time I'll try it with tater tots. Street corn- 5/5 This was so good! Definitely recommend getting this. Turban burger- 3/5 This was underwhelming for me. To be honest, I wasn't the biggest fan of the brisket beef on top of the burger. The burger itself didn't seem to have a lot of flavor. And I wanted a bit more of the mango flavor from the slaw to come through. Husband had the diablo burger, I tried it and didn't find it too spicy at all. This burger also didn't have as much flavor either. They could've just had an off day, so for that reason I'm giving it a 3.5/5 rating. I'll definitely be back though to try their chicken burger and loaded tots. read more

Deliciousness with a twist! Their burger meat was soft and flavorful. The portions are ginormous so definitely come with an empty stomach. Best mac and cheese in town. Very sweet owner who also happens to be the chef. The shrimp taco was scrumptious along with the spicy burger. Bonus, it's halal! Can't go wrong there! read more

Awesome halal options. I had the Texas toro burger, which includes beef bacon, cheddar cheese, and onions sautéed in BBQ sauce. Everything is seasoned perfectly (including the french fries on the side) and the bun is amazingly soft and buttery, too. The BBQ sauce tasted homemade as well. I highly recommend, I'm excited to try more of their menu. read more

There is a lot of hype on social media regarding the amazing desi meets texmex fusion food being served at Twisted Turban. We finally got around to checking it out and I'm happy to report that it lived upto the hype. We ordered a Beef Turban Burger and the Ooey Gooey Chicken Melt served on texas toast. Both were delicious, although the turban burger was the more unique one of the two. The place was relatively crowded but we got our food pretty fast. I have my eye on the nachos here so I'll definitely be returning to sample more things off the menu. I will say that the burgers are all $10 without fries and a drink. For a fast food joint, I think they need to either make the burgers bigger or include fries with them at least. read more

The food here is really good, and the portions are huge! I loved both tacos I tried, and the Mac and cheese on the burger was heavenly. Even the pulled beef brisket was a winner. However, I watched someone else get the elote, and just from what it looked like I wouldn't recommend it. I'm also not a huge fan of the atmosphere. It sort of feels like a cafeteria in there. However the guy working was really nice and checked in on us often. In short, the food is worth it, but I'd get it to go and eat it in the comfort of your home. read more

Seeing the positive reviews led me out to the burbs to give Twisted Turban a try. The Turban burger is a unique treat. It's a delicious burger with a unique twist that you won't find anywhere else. Even my dad liked it, and he's not very adventurous when it comes to food. You can make the burger into a combo for an extra $3, so for about $15 you get a complete meal. A little pricey perhaps for semi-fast food, but it's all good stuff. The fries were hot, fresh and flavorful. The fried pickles were pretty good, but the serving of them was kinda small (it was about 1 pickle worth) for $4. Overall I recommend giving this place a try.
