I love Twistee Treat! We had ordered sugar cones dipped in chocolate. The staff was super friendly and asked if we were sure and we said yes. I realize now that the reason she asked if we were sure was because the sugar cone is labeled as "kiddie" so we did not get a healthy serving. I'm not sure if you can get regular size ice cream on a kiddie cone or not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Honestly, it kind of worked out because it was SO HOT and the ice cream was already melting once handed to us. I have never been a rainbow sprinkle girl and out of nowhere I just can't get enough! I envisioned a rainbow sprinkle ice cream cone on a super hot Saturday and seeked out Twistee Treat. I had never been to this location before. It sits in the parking lot of a small shopping plaza. There is plenty of parking all around and it even has a drive-thru! We parked and ordered at the walk up window. The girl working there was the best. She walked us through all the flavors and many different cone options. I settled on a strawberry and vanilla swirl soft serve ice cream in a rainbow sprinkled ice cream cone also completely covered in rainbow sprinkles. The ice cream cone was massive and was starting to drip pretty quickly in the Florida heat. The girl working provided me with a plastic cup and spoon so I can put it down in the cup and eat it in a much cleaner manner. It was absolutely delicious! While the boujee ice cream shops are great, nothing beats simple good ice cream. It hit all the points I wanted. I even took some of the ice cream to go to put it in my freezer for another time. This particular Twistee Treat is located in the Belmont Plaza on Goldenrod Road. This Plaza has definitely seen better days. However, there was a decent line at the Twistee Treat and the line moved rather quickly. The ice cream, as I have said, is good. Probably my favorite flavor is the pistachio ice cream. I would definitely recommend is Twistee Treat or any Twistee Treat. I have never had a bad experience at the slew of Twistee Treats that I have been in. They have vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate soft serve ice cream. You can get various other items like sundaes, dipped ice cream cones, and milkshakes. I tried the small strawberry sundae and it hit that sweet spot for me. It was pretty small and a nice little portion of ice cream, just enough to satisfy. My friends had the dipped cones, which have a sort of "magic shell" type topping on them. I have tried these before and they taste great, but here is the issue-the topping is a bit warm and the soft serve ice cream drips wildly out from under the topping. It's super messy and that's fine if you're in the mood for it. Sometimes you don't mind getting messy =) I like this place a lot but find that you have to be in the mood to sit outside and just chill while you have your ice cream. It's a very florida type place to visit. This location had a bathroom that was out of order and the people behind the counter seemed a bit rushed. I've been to this location once. The service was nice- the staff was friendly by smiling while taking out order, and it was also prompt. I was surprised that they got the ice creams out so fast- pretty much as soon as we were done paying. I know it's just ice cream but usually it takes a while to get three ice cream cones ready. There is a seating area outside while seems as though it was clean and well maintained. I had to use the rest room which there were doors in back of the gigantic ice cream cone which had the MEN rest room placard, but no WOMENS. I tried to open both doors but they were locked, for the duration of my time there. Oh well. Maybe it was a trick. My fav Twistee Treat location would be off of Conway and Curry Ford. There are several little tables outside and you wait in line outside and order through a window. From their menu, it looks like they do lots of ice cream cones with basic flavors with the option to "dip" your cone or even "gorilla" it (you'll have to go to a location to see what I mean). They also offer sundaes and shakes . I decided to go with a butterscotch waffle cone with vanilla ice cream dipped in butterscotch. OMG I think I died and went to heaven. It was soooooo good! So good I hit a wall really quickly and should've paced myself. The cone was the perfect compliment to the ice cream and I would do it all over again! My husband ordered a butterscotch milkshake and he kept saying that it reminded him of his childhood! They also have a reward punch card for frequent visitors which I'm sure we will fill up in no time!
