Built in 1865, the Two Brothers Roundhouse is a historical landmark and the oldest limestone railroad roundhouse in the US. The place is huge. It has a restaurant, bar, mini-museum, outside beer garden, private event rooms, and distillery. I've been there 4 times and never gone wrong. Spanning over 70,000-square-feet, the Two Brothers Roundhouse is home to a modern supper club, the best beer garden in the area, rustic banquet spaces, private event rooms, café, live music venue, cocktail lounge, brewery and artisan distillery. This isn't a fancy 5-star restaurant; it is solid pub food fitting the atmosphere. Yet, they have about 10 different appetizers, a half-dozen different salads, about 8 separate entrees, a few different types of pasta, and a handful of different sandwiches/burgers. I ventured here on Friday evening for a dinner with my girlfriend. We were seated outside upon request because it was absolutely beautiful out. The service was awesome and our server Danni(not sure about the spelling) well she was extraordinary. She was attentive, funny, and just awesome. We ordered a couple of drinks and just had some apps. Noticed some slippage this week at Two Brothers in that their food was ok, not great just ok. Missed the tempura green beans on their appetizer menu, as well! We came here to celebrate my nephews wedding. Utilizing the Lager Room upstairs. The room was tastefully decorated (matching the Christmas wedding theme perfectly), the bartender was incredible and food delicious. The 2 Stars was for their lack of communication. We had the room from 5:00-8:00. We did a cash bar cocktail hour from 5:00-5:45, then a champagne toast and speech until 6:00. It was at 6:00 that folks lined up at the "cook to order" food stations set-up. We had a pasta station (which I did not have the opportunity to try) and a fajitas station - which I had 2 chicken fajitas. We had 42 guests - so it took about 15 minutes for everyone to get through a line (not both lines - just the station of their choice). By 6:45 - while guests were still enjoying their food there was a server taking everyone's silverware and napkins - so they were unable to go enjoy more food (which they should have) then unannounced they shut down the food stations without any warning - leaving our guests confused and still hungry. When finally tracking down the "lead" Elizabeth all she could tell us was that the chefs had "read" the room and shut it down. She also said she had no authority to bring back out the food I had already purchased (made zero sense). So - although they had the opportunity to shine there were a couple of giant failures. Failures that impacted the dinner & forced me to then order pizzas at another location to feed the guests I had already purchased dinner for. If you decide to take a chance by booking here - I would be VERY clear in a timeline & get it in writing. This dinner was embarrassing for me as the host and although we laughed about the absolute failure of the dinner at the wedding - I was embarrassed and felt like I wasted $2,000 on a "snack". read more

We have tried this restaurant many times over the years (starting when it was Payton's Roundhouse), and very much enjoy the expansive patio, the outdoor fireplace and music in the warm months. Since it was acquired by Two Brother's it has been incredibly inconsistent. The menu has gone from expansive to limited in a way that excludes most special diets. Yesterday, we took a party of 7, having reviewed the menu online, for Father's Day. When we arrived, the staff appeared frazzled and confused, even though there appeared to be plenty of them. We were handed special "Father's Day" menus which weren't special at all, but highly limited versions of their regular small menu. All but one vegetarian main had been removed and that was a portabella sandwich with an olive salad on it, which did not sound appetizing. All fish choices except a fish taco that sounded like all spare ingredients they had laying around were thrown together (I've never heard of ranch dressing on a taco) were gone. This left half of our party with only appetizer choices on Father's Day. Our waitress was very nervous and our drink orders were mostly wrong. We certainly didn't blame her, as since we were sitting directly in the path of where the servers went back to get food and non-bar drinks, we could hear the manager yelling at everyone. When we ordered, several things from the already incredibly limited menu were out, including the single chicken choice. 2 people in our party ordered the pulled pork and when it arrived it wasn't a sandwich but rather about 1/3 cup of dry pulled pork surrounded by a ton of fries (I assume to make the plate look full), with 2 small plastic cups of barbecue sauce. My daughter requested a bun and when she put the pork on a regular bun it filled less than half of it. In spite of multiple servers and bus people around, service was very slow. When I went to the restroom, I found our waitress crying in a stall. To me that is the thing I won't get past to go back under this ownership. The staff was clearly mistreated. We have a sizable tip for a subpar meal and decided that despite the fact that we love the physical setting, we likely won't return unless the Roundhouse changes ownership or management at the very least. read more

My daughter got married here in early October 2021. She was supposed to be married last year, but due to Covid, it had to be postponed. I think the staff at Two Brothers was outstanding. They worked hard to make sure the event was stellar. Here's how it went: First, the postponement was handled very professionally. When it came time to rebook the wedding, the date was already taken (it was taken prior to Covid). The wedding was changed to a Sunday, which meant it would be less expensive. Further, it was apparent that the big ballroom was available, so they moved the wedding into there with no extra charge. The room is beautiful, and the way it was set up made it look roomy, but not too spread out. On the day of the wedding, Nicole got to the venue early so we could start setting up. The day before, I was allowed to bring in supplies for the decor of the wedding. They found a space where we could leave things until we needed them. On the day of the wedding, we were allowed to go into the room at 9:00AM to set up. That gave us enough time to get all my daughter's Pinterest decor up (and believe me, it was a real chore). The wedding ceremony was supposed to be outside in the gazebo, but due to the serious chance of rain, it was moved inside. Prior to making that decision, Nicole informed me that she was going to set up the Stout and Lager rooms for the ceremony just in case. Being able to use a different room for the ceremony was a boon, because it meant that we could ignore the decor up there after the ceremony, leaving it for the breakdown the next day. The wedding was as beautiful as you would expect. The food was great, and the service was second to none. We already knew the food was great, and they served many of their own liquors at the bar. We had a selection of 6 different beers (all theirs), which are really good! After the wedding, Nicole's assistant (Kayla) broke down about 95% of the decorations and stacked them on one of the bars, making it really easy to remove them. Nicole was scheduled to be off on Monday (they're closed on Mondays), but she came in so we could come get the decor. We were even able to make several trips, and she didn't blink an eye. Some errant potential customers came in while we were breaking down, and she was very nice to them. It gave us a chance to sing the praises of the venue and Nicole. I would highly recommend using Two Brothers as a venue for your next event. They are the most professional, and they bend over backwards to help make an event spectacular! read more

Quite a place. An old train roundhouse built in 1851 from brick and cut sandstone. It fell into ruin until Walter Payton put together a group, bought the property and put it back on its feet. Disclaimer; We have a fondness for the Roundhouse that goes back to when it was Walter Payton's. We got engaged in the Cognac Bar, married in the gazebo and needless to say had our reception here as well (one of the first weddings held here). We even have a personalized brick in the courtyard too. Heck, my wife even teases (I hope) I'll be waked here. That said we have a special affection for this place. Needless to say the beer is excellent with a variety to choose from. The menu is extensive from burgers, seafood, steaks, seafood, and more. Don't forget to leave room for dessert, I would recommend the Swiss Chocolate Chalet Cake and the Italian Lemon Creme Cake too! After dinner don't forget to enjoy the many choices of entertainment either outside on the patio or inside at one of the bars. Have too much to drink? Don't be a putz and drink and drive, Comfort Suites is literally next door. Wake up in the morning and need a good cup of coffee? Two Brothers has you covered with their Roundhouse Cafe too. This place is nice and big and has plenty of room. The food was hit or miss. The service was nice and friendly, but not memorable. I ordered a beer cocktail, which was tasty - but of course, it had way too much ice. My Roundhouse burger was delicious, but the fries were just okay. My husband's pasta was just okay - definitely not worth $19, and he wouldn't order or again. We both ordered desserts. I got the creme brulee cheesecake. Which was basically a vanilla bean cheesecake with torched sugar on top. It was pretty tasty, but I wouldn't get it again. My husband got a carrot cake and said it was pretty good. Our bill was $61.00. I guess that's normal, considering we both got desserts and I had a cocktail, but it seemed pricey to me. We only ate here because it was the best sounding place for dinner while visiting my mother in the hospital in Aurora. So, I probably won't be back. But if I'm in the area, I'd give them a 2nd chance and try a different dish. read more

I had a 6:45 reservation for a table for 2 on Saturday night. We arrived a little early so we had to wait. After about 20 minutes, the hostess came over with her tablet and asked "what was the name again"? I told her and we waited another 5 minutes before someone said that our table was ready and said "follow me" which we did for a tour of the restaurant. She didn't know what table to give us so she made us stand in the middle of the restaurant while she got a table ready for us somewhere. After 7 minutes, she reappeared with some menus and said follow me. She took us up 2 flights of stairs to our table. We are both 75 years old and she made us climb stairs when there were many open tables on the main floor. I know this because we walked past them on our tour! I ordered an Irish Whiskey and water in a tall glass and got 1 ounce of Irish Whiskey in a highball glass with no ice. We both ordered the steak and fries and that was excellent and tasty. The server was also fantastic and very friendly. It did take us a little longer to get down 2 flights of stairs after 2 drinks so the servers had to wait to deliver some food. If I ever visit here again, I will make sure to tell them that I want a table on the main floor and not in the rafters! read more

Have been a fan of this brewery since moving to Illinois and had the opportunity to swing by after the Christkindlmarket event down the street. With its rustic theme and ample parking (which was quite tricky to get to), the food was a bit disappointing. The soggy fries and the alligator-pork burger special ($13) tasted like a kid's veggie burger meal was having a bad day. Another dish made of chicken broth rice and cajun crawfish ($17) was quite tasty but meager in supply. The flourless chocolate cake was still half frozen so it took a while to dig in at the risk of breaking the forks. Despite all the food sadness my mate and I experienced, the friendly staff (who had her thumbs at another patron's salad bowl upon serving) was very sweet and accomodating. Coming back to this place is still a consideration when patio seating is available. The romantic ambiance alone is well worth the revisit. read more

This time we were going to the paramount for a show & decided to have dinner here. The service was prompt & friendly. But then they still have their swag, beer to go and even a coffee bar. I tried a couple beers but the highlight for me was the peppermint bark porter I had for dessert. Is it weird that I think the food overshadowed the beer? Between the bone marrow appetizer and short rib sandwich I had, I don't think I even needed the beer.
