This place is just so cool, a hidden little gem. The restaurant could really be a venue. It was our first time in, and I'm pregnant so I can't speak for drinks, but my husband kept having the waitress surprise him with beer flights so we have no idea what beers he got. The food was delicious. I had the chili cheese fries which is a huge portion, and it was the lunch portion. My husband got the fish and chips and said it was delicious. First I LOVED THE CHILIE . Never have I tasted chili like that before. I dipped my fries in it which was a great touch. My 10 month old loved the fish and chips , the crunch on batter was perfect. Not to much but just enough for even she to enjoy. The pulled pork burrito was ok but didn't like it to well. I believe others would like it though, I'm used to Mexican burritos so it just wasn't my boat. The Buffalo chicken wrap had way to much going on inside . This was a complete surprise. I didn't think I would like the food as much as I did. I got a burger and it was really good and my husbands fish and chips were absolutely delicious. Our server was really friendly and quick. They have a beautiful patio as well, surrounded by trees. My only real knock against it: I'm gluten free and I wish they had a gf beer or cider on the menu. Great spot to eat and drink that is family friendly. They might have the best fried Nashville hot chicken in CO. Everything has a light batter on the fry so it isn't oily or soggy. This is a pretentious place with ok food and great servers, I have been here multiple times and observed the owners lording over the the crew waiting, hoping for a mistake to scrutinize. It is uncomfortable as a patron. Today, with social distancing It is not as apparent but still in place. Culture. As a business owner one should ask "how do my customers want to do business with me?" The inverse is true here. "How do we want our customers to do business with us." The sliders are a perfect example, want a mix? NO! It is far to difficult for the kitchen to mange a pulled pork slider (meat made hours ago) and a a few chicken. Silly customers, have it OUR way. This place is both near my home, has an awesome selection of Colorado beers. I can think of very few places in town that has this much dedication to Colorado craft. Around 35 beers (per my last drive by) of Colorado greatness. Fri-yay! Went to 2 Penguins for Friday happy hour as it is right across from my work! I've heard many good things about this place and wanted to give it a shot. I really liked the atmosphere. Inside, 2 Penguins is very large, it even has room separators to make a bigger or smaller room (to rent out). I sat in the first room closest to the bar, it had many different seating options from high tables to long booths to accommodate any group of people. The bar is decorated with old tap handles and Colorado decor, there's even an indoor pergola. The beer list is LONG. You can't go wrong with whatever you choose but it's nice to know there's so many different options from sour beer to blonde ales to coffee stouts. I had a Dry Dock Apricot that was amazing! The food - delicious!! We shared chips and salsa with queso at first which was very good especially for the price. For dinner, I had a Margherita pizza and others had nachos and green chile. All of our food tasted great which is sometimes unexpected at a bar. The prices are right, Bob! I think 2 Penguins has the best happy hour prices around Arapahoe. My bill for 2 beers, chips and queso and a tequila shot was $14. For dinner, our bill was $19 - the green chile, nachos and pizza! The staff was attentive and listened to our needs even when the place got jam packed at 5:30. I never had an empty glass or felt like I needed to get our servers attention. Sooooo, it's a Saturday and you have to make the dreaded trip down 25 to go to Ikea beer must be included in the trip. I skipped breakfast so by the time we found our way this off the beaten path spot I was dying to eat. It was another gorgeous day in Colorado and my husband and I chose to sit outside in the beer garden. Fortunately for us, we had no issue with getting a table at 1 PM there were only about 10 people in total inside. Our waitress came and we each ordered a beer. I chose the Platt Park Tropical Snow Dance IPA and my husband the same, which were solid. We ordered our food and sat outside enjoying the sun and the crazy insane wind. As our server was bringing out our food she indicated we may want to eat inside due to the wind and the potential for chips and other food taking flight. We happily obliged and decided after we finished we'd come back out. I ordered the Spicy Turkey Panini with housemade lattice chips. O-M-G! A: when they said spicy they actually did mean spicy but it was so amazing. The turkey was not overly piled which to be honest it good. The chips were also delicious and generally I'm not a chip person. My husband chose to order the Fried Chicken Sandwich which after tasting it was very tender and moist. His sandwich came with seasoned french fries (way to have seasoned - perceived value there). The space inside is large, clean, and kind of industrial. By this time I may add more people had arrived and were both eating and drinking. We ate our food about as fast as we could (unintentionally) and went back outside to finish a second beer and enjoy the sunshine. Overall, we had a great experience at 2 Penguins. The wife had the spicy turkey panini, she loved it, the bread, melted cheese and tender turkey, I had a bite and I liked it far better than the BBQ. Love love love this place! A bit off the beaten path, but totally worth it. Get here for happy hour! We had the nachos and pizza, which did not disappoint. HH pizza is only $5! Our waitress was super friendly, personable and gave excellent beer recommendations. A bit bummed we had to leave to catch a movie as they had a huge room with a couch and chairs by a cozy fireplace you could literally sit by for hours drinking their tasty beers. I think there may have also been a foosball table and pool table but i was too focused on the fireplace to pay attention. It was too chilly to go outside but I could tell through the heavy blinds that we will be back to enjoy in that aspect of this taphouse on a future sunny day. Sad we don't live closer. read more

We started coming when they first switched over from catering only (although we wish they would bring back the spaghetti and meatballs!) Great outdoor space, love music Friday and Saturdays, plenty of indoor space to be social distance and enjoy great indoor eating!! We were at our table for probably 15 minutes before we had to ask the hostess if our server knew we were there. Then once we got that taken care of the service was really slow. We hosted our annual nonprofit event in this casual, spacious restaurant. Steve and Dan definitely know their catering business; this is the first event where we did not have a line for (a delicious) dinner or the bar. There are always unexpected twists when hosting an event of this size, but every curve was met with grace and clarity that helped us focus on giving our guests a good time. We had rave reviews about the food, the vibe, and the staff. We had access to the whole building which gave people options for quieter places to visit one on one or joining the crowd in the ballroom. Bonus: One of the staff knew a little sign language to communicate better with our guests, and one of the waitresses created a custom sign on their chalkboard. This place is really a hidden gem you likely miss when in a car due east on Arapahoe Road between Lima and Potomac. I'd only heard of this place and decided to come find it on a snowy Denver night. Entrance is off Briarwood so definitely google it. The place is huge and has a great big bar area with a nice sized dining area and an event area. I took a bar seat and the bartenders were really engaging. Not shy or not oblivious. The patrons were even great and struck up a conversation with me sharing that it was their favorite place and the food was even better than their many beer selections. I sampled the Green Chili and it was very good and not typical. I couldn't make up my mind. Their specialty is the Fried Chicken, although it was too big of a meal for me too late in the evening. I stuck with a BLT and their own homemade chips. The portion was great and honestly, the bacon was falling out of the sandwich (these guys don't scrimp). The homemade chips are the best! We stopped in Denver after a long drive from Texas en route to Estes Park. We were so happy we found this place on yelp after searching for "dog friendly restaurants". They have a nice patio where our pup was greeted with a bowl of water. Wait staff were nice and friendly. Our server, Alyssa, was very courteous and gave us excellent service. The patio is really nice. It's big and not cramped. There were many families with young kids playing around. It felt like a perfect friendly town that I would love to move to! We ordered hummus which came with delicious pita bread and a ton of veggies. I ordered power salad with grilled chicken and it was delicious! My husband ordered fish and chips (I was thinking, um in the mountains?) and said it was great. Everything we ordered were in good portions. Hope we can return again! read more

We spent 2 long years planning our perfect wedding. During this time we were corresponding with Dan who was taking care of all of our needs. The venue was GORGEOUS, the food was great, and everything was going well... until it wasn't. Dan was very rude the entire time we were setting up and throughout the night. We unfortunately had a member of our party sneaking in outside beer and Dan went up to me THE BRIDE and screamed in my face saying "if I see this shit again I will shut you down." I had no idea what he was talking about at first and went to our guests and told them not to do it anymore. It was very unprofessional and should have been handled much differently than it was. We had an agreement with him that our event would run until midnight instead of the usual 10 o'clock and would just pay extra for the two hours. Dan was hesitant to do this from the get go and come 9 o'clock Dan was looking for any reason to kick us out. He found some empty shooter bottles in the trash that were taken in the limo prior to our arrival. To not be rude to the limo driver we cleared the trash and threw them away at the venue. But because he found more "outside liquor" Dan got into my face and yelled at me saying "I'm fucking sick of this shit and I'm shutting you down. We could lose our liquor license and 75 people would be out of a job!" First and for most the issue should not have been addressed with the bride to begin with. Second the way he screamed and cursed was very unprofessional and he got into my face and no one else's because I am smaller female. Finally, the irony in him saying they could lose their license is that they were serving minors all night and never once asked to see anyone's ID. A perfect night was ruined because Dan decided he didn't want to stay late and found any reason he could to shut it down. The icing on the cake was Dan stilled tried charging us for the extra two hours. If things had been handled differently this would not have been such an issue. I cannot begin to tell you how heart broken I was that everything was escalated so quickly and that Dan was so unprofessional. So unless you want your wedding night to end with a sobbing bride and screaming parents I would heavily suggest looking elsewhere. read more

AUG 2017 Update It's been some time since my last visit and I was craving for the pepperoni pizza. It did not go well. Right off, it was freezing in the restaurant. Hot day-yes. But totally uncomfortable for dining. I sat at the bar and ordered the pizza. When it arrived, I had to ask for a setup. When the setup arrived and I unrolled the napkin, the silverware was disgusting. That alone churned my stomach. I tried the pizza, but it was a gooey mess, the center crust basically runny; nothing like I've had here before. I rate this visit Not Acceptable. I was vaguely aware of Two Penguins and just had an opportunity to visit at happy hour last night. It's nicely tucked away on Briarwood just south of Arapahoe Road. The minute I walked in I loved the ambiance- a more modern, open and refreshing ambiance (it still has that "new restaurant smell"). The patio is sure to be a winner, and I learned there is even more to the place behind the sliding wall on the north side. One thing I REALLY liked is the low-key approach to TV screens. The last thing we need in the 'hood is another sports bar, and this is not formatted to be that. This is a place where you can enjoy some native brew and good conversation with those around you -basically what a Tap and Grille should be. I was immediately greeted and the staff was friendly and informative regarding all the craft beer and food options (most other reviewers have covered this). I ordered the burger with a side of chili and both were superb. Arapahoe Road has been long overdue for a new place (well, unless you like 2-story mega complexes) and Two Penguins is a hugely welcome addition. This place is awesome!! Me and a few friends came on Saturday for dinner and drinks for the 1st time and had a great time! The patio is amazing, and inside they have all their tables very spread out, and seemed to be really sticking to the covid-19 rules more so than ALOT of places we've been recently, and I know that's hard for restaurants right now but these guys really seem to go above and beyond to keep people safe, (we loved the little hand sanitizer they give to each table too :) ) The food and drinks were to die for, we had the crab cakes on our servers recommendation and he really nailed it, my compliments to the kitchen staff!! There's a huge beer selection and plenty of good cocktails and a solid wine list :) The band that was playing, and I'm so sorry I can't remember their name, played their hearts out :). And the server Alvin was super friendly and courteous and just all around awesome and did a great job explaining all the drink and food related questions we had , and killed it with the suggestions he had ;) Overall it was an amazing experience, from the food and drinks to the atmosphere to the live music to the whole patio vibe, and the service was incredible as well.
