Food is terrible. Limited menu and expensive. Nothing for vegetarians besides a salad or baked potato. They don't have simple oil and vinegar for salads. Baked potato, disgusting at that and tiny, costs 5$!! All foods were served in white take away styrofoam containers. How cozy is that, let alone environmentally friendly. I guess that is Two Rivers for you! Service: despicable. Well, to be fair: it doesn't exist. The waitress is careless, unfriendly; unless you are a local. Even then it depended on what local crowd you belong to. Seriously terrible. Shameful Ambiance: what ambience? The new building is a box with zero ambience. Noisy as soon as there are more than 10 people in the same room- we'll, there is only one room! Absolutely not like the previous place which exuded some pride and joy. This is a sorry excuse of place for locals to call home. And trust me: they don't. Can't say enough good things about this place! During my trip to Alaska, this restaurant quickly became the highlight. The food? Simply incredible. I had one of the best burgers of my life--juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The outdoor seating on the deck overlooking the serene lake added a magical touch, especially with the glow of tiki torches creating the perfect ambiance. The staff and owners were so friendly and welcoming, making the experience even more memorable. But the best part? We looked up from our dinner and saw what we thought was a little cloud, only to realize it was the northern lights starting to dance across the sky. We stayed longer just to watch, and it was truly an unforgettable moment. This place gave me a 10/10 experience, and if you're in Alaska, you absolutely have to go. Two Rivers Lodge Fine Dining was an exceptional far-north gourmet meal in a rustic log cabin atmosphere. When one dreams of an Alaskan dining experience, this would be it. Being from the landlocked Colorado, in the center of the United States, there are no oceans nearby. So I am suspect of sea food everywhere I go locally. When I had the opportunity for all-you-can-eat snow crab I jumped at the chance. I admit fully, without shame and filled with pride, that I gorged myself on snow crab as though I had never had snow crab before, or would ever have snow crab again. My vision narrowed. My mind was fixed on snow crab. I do not remember anything else. I think I had iced tea to drink. I do not remember any other accoutrements. I do not remember what others in my party ordered. ***OVERPRICED GARBAGE, OPPOSITE OF FINE DINING*** I woke up out of my sleep to write this review because, of how bad it was. Biggest waste of money! Made me scared to even trying anything else Alaska has to offer.. We were sat down and the host brings you water, and she was very quick and nice. We were waiting about 15 min to be greeted by our server that walked past us 10 times and looked at us 20 times. We were about to get up and leave. (We should have). She greeted us with "are you ready to order?" We haven't even been asked for drinks we told her. She took our drink order. We ordered at about 8:10pm, and keep in mind the restaurant isn't even half full at the time and we received our order at about 9pm. The prime rib I ordered ($30) was dry and cold... and the silverware was pretty nasty. I proceeded to tell the server it was cold 10min later cause she never showed back up. When I told her, she threw an attitude and got lippy saying she saw "the owner plate it" and she brought it right out and that there was no way it could be cold. She was very unprofessional in handling the situation. She acted like a child. I've been in the industry for too long to know when food has been sitting and is dried out. Waste of 2 hours of my life and didn't eat... Terrible experience overall, complete trash in my opinion. Save your money, and grab a hotdog at the first gas station you see. read more

On a cold snowy night on an Icy road. This warm little restaurant served 2 x5 star primes and bear battered halibut. From the home made salad dressing and home made bread, to the great service. Going to Two Rivers Lodge is an annual birthday trip for our family. We often stop by and grab a pizza too. Service and food has been consistent until tonight. Poor service! The prime rib that was ordered medium rare was served well done. It was sent back. Returned on the same plate. The scampi didn't have a hint of garlic or white wine. It was split shrimp(made to look like more shrimp) on a bed of pineapple rice. I have order this in the past and it has been a traditional scampi sever in garlic butter. My son ordered and root beer and it was never delivered to the table. The waitress never came back to the table between the time the meal was served and bringing the bill. John Burns you can do better than this. Either lower your prices or step up the service and quality of the food. $107 gone read more

If this is "fine dining" in AK, then I feel sorry for the Alaskans, they deserve better. Perhaps we have higher expectations, being from LA, but our meal here was abysmal except for the delicious draft beers. And maybe the baked potatoes, which were tasty. I ordered the halibut, hoping it might be local. When I asked the waitress, she didn't know where the fish came from and said, "It's fresh frozen. Like caught and immediately frozen..." Anyway, it came prepared in a thick, tasteless "crab" sauce, left half on my plate. The steaks were decent but nothing to write home about, and the prices were outrageous for the quality of food. My fish was $32. As mentioned in several other reviews, the service was also terrible. The waitress visited our table a total of three times. I had to go to the bar to order my drinks, and we waited... and waited for our food. There was something going on with her because she kept coming out of the bathroom. So, I figured she's either pregnant, on drugs, or has an eating disorder. But she should probably go take care of herself and not be waitressing. All this being said, there is a cozy, log cabin ambience, and it was the only open restaurant around where we were searching for Northern Lights, so maybe we were lucky to eat at all... read more

Saw the reviews and a commercial about this restaurant and was excited to try it after a week of sandwiches & burgers. Nice little place with a fairly rustic atmosphere. Went to the bar first & decided to eat in the dining room. Service was slow, but not unexpected in Fairbanks (seems to be an issue throughout the city). Finally ordered & went with the garlic bread appetizer & 18 ounce prime rib. Garlic bread was fairly tasty. However when I was working on my house salad with blue cheese came along an unexpected surprise. Thought I was eating a piece of blue cheese, but it ended up being a piece of chewed up peppermint gum - still minty. Brought this to the attention to the waitress when she brought the prime rib. She took it to the back to talk with someone - not sure if it was chef, manager, or owner. She came back and the only response was that no one was sure how it happened. Really - do we need to call in CSI to come figure this out? Judging by the flavor, consistency (chewiness) of the gum, my guess is whoever was making the salad had it drop into the salad. Instead of doing the right thing & getting rid of the batch, they decided to serve it. And honestly, would expect the manager, chef, or owner to come to the table & discuss with me as opposed to throwing the server out there to try to deal with the situation. The prime rib & baked potato looked okay (nothing spectacular). But given the chewed gum in the salad and the lack of response from the restaurant, can't say I really trust them to prepare any type of meat to any acceptable standards. The waitress returned a little bit later & saw that I didn't touch any of the meal. Asked me if I was planning on eating it & I stated that I couldn't. She took it away. Waited a little bit longer & when no one else came to the table, I just walked out. Congrats Two Rivers Lodge "Fine Dining" - yeah, wouldn't say that with the experience I had - you are the only restaurant from which I walked away. Would save my money and avoid whatever diseases can happen with ill prepared food & try a different place. I stopped here on a whim driving down Chena Hot Springs Road and was blown away. I couldn't decide between the five tenderloin medallions in a peppercorn sauce and the California-grilled halibut in an avocado/roasted pepper sauce, so my server checked with the chef, and I ended up with bit of both--both of which were absolutely to die for. The meat was extremely tender and flavorful (they get organically-raised beef from Mistly Isle Farms in Washington) and I couldn't get enough of the peppercorn sauce (a creme fraise and wine base). The halibut was flaky, moist, and perfectly done, and the avocado sauce was delicious--very mild but with noticeable roasted pepper flavors and a hint of tanginess. Sides of slightly toasted mashed potatoes and butter-roasted carrot slices completed the artfully-presented plate. I was full after the dinner, but judging from the quality of the meal, there was no way I could pass up their desserts. I opted for a freshly-whipped (an hour and a half before) chocolate mousse, which melted in my mouth, and a decaf coffee, brewed rich and dark (almost a European style). The meal plus a glass of San Pellegrino sparkling water netted $46.50--not bad by Alaskan standards and definitely worth the quality of food served. The service was excellent (I appreciated their willingness to go out of the way to accommodate both of my cravings) and the ambiance very nice. While the restaurant's web site bills itself as a five-star restaurant, I'd put it in the four star category (although the food quality may make it a contender for a five-star rating). The only thing I'd suggest avoiding is the tap water--it has the same taste of iron that nearly all of the Fairbanks North Star Borough's well water contains (they'd do well to put a few more filters on their tap). All in all, I enjoyed the restaurant and would consider it one of the highlights of the Fairbanks area. I'd certainly recommend that every Fairbanksan who likes good "gourmet" food and every traveler who wants to sample the finest that Fairbanks has to offer give it a try. Enjoy! We had great food. Everything was awesome that we were served. The waitress was super nice and friendly. We had reservations but didn't get served any of our appetizers for 40 minutes. All in all we spent 3 hours there waiting and eating our food. It was s bit of a concern why it was taking so long to get served any food, drinks or salads at first but then we seemed to figure out the waitress was the only one running around doing everything for the tables. I felt bad for her so we just sat back and realized we It was going to be a long nice of grazing. . I guess it all worked out since I was full after the appetizers. After a long absence, we went to dinner at Two Rivers Lodge and were deeply disappointed. The prices were quite high and the food old and stale. We sat in the atrium and my arm stuck to the table. I could actually scrape the grime from the table. The water carafe was covered with water spots and had dirt imbedded fingerprints on the carafe. The glasses are yellowed and the silverware not much better. The bread was not fresh, was stale, dry and hard. The stuffed mushrooms were good, but very small and not worth $15.The all you can eat ribs were not fresh, were dry and hard. Some pieces you could never chew they were so hard. Dinner was $100 for two, save your money and go elsewhere. read more

I ordered "all you can eat" ribs but they were "sold out". Two hours from sit down to entrée serving, but we saw plenty of food sold as carry out. Four medium shrimp cost $28.95! Spent a wonderful evening here! I had the halibut and my partner had the prime steak. Both were fantastic. We spent our time in the bar and had a great conversation with the staff and owner. Beer selection were top notch. Garlic bread was by far the best I've had in a very long time. They do allow smoking in the bar which I didn't care for but honestly the food and conversation made up for that completely and I hardly noticed when eating such great food!!! Not the best fine dining I have had..my husband ordered a prime rib with baked potato, almost half of the prime rib had fat and some nerves.. Also a bit tough, pretty plane with not much flavor to it. The "baked" potato appeared to be microwaved, super hot at the core and cold everywhere else. I ordered BBQ ribs and the meat was very tough and dry, wasn't coming off the bone very easily and didn't have a lot of flavor once you got over the overload of spicy seasoning on the top. The crab brusque was cheesy with only few pieces of crab. The bread even if probably home made was soggy in the bottom. Stuffed mushroom and the Italian salad dressing was really good. For a 100$ dinner not sure if I would go back. Probably would not recommend this restaurant. read more

Great atmosphere, friendly service, food was definitely subpar at best. Ordered the filet medium rare- received a steak that was well done and dry throughout and medium in the very center, and sliced through the middle (their version of butterflied). Dead giveaway that they tossed a frozen steak on the grill and needed it to cook quickly. Not really worthy of the $35 price tag. Husband ordered the prime rib and seemed to enjoy it. Anyway the Waitress took us to a table when we first arrived and said we couldn't sit in the smoke free solarium. We had 2 12 year olds and she said their policy was no children in that area. Although we were there last year when they were 11. She said they hadn't seated kids in that section all the 4 years she'd worked there. Obviously not being truthful. Also no soap in bathroom. Not worth the fine dining price for food. Good atmosphere though. Also smoking was allowed close to our dining area. Sad because we used to enjoy eating there. read more

We had such a great time at Two Rivers Lodge. It was our first time there and were celebrating a special occasion. We decided to go all out and get Steak and Crab Legs. But, we started with their famous stuffed mushrooms. They were fantastic. So glad we got them and will probably always get them when we return. Our steaks were fantastic. I wanted the Filet but wanted the "creamy brandy sauce" of the NY Pepper Steak. Not a problem making a special order. Turns out, there was so much brandy in the sauce that I didn't care for it. I ended up scraping it off to the side. It just shows how great of a steak it was though because it didn't take anything away from my meal. It was an excellent cut of meat and was cooked perfectly medium rare. My partner got the NY and she was just as pleased with her meal. And the crab legs! Wow! They were so good. Super fresh and wonderfully cooked with piping hot butter on the side. We had to take our desserts to go, we were so full. The only reason for 3 stars is because of the wait for the food. We had a reservation and when we arrived, there were maybe three other tables in the dining room. I'm thinking there was only two but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say three. There was one table seated in the bar. We were seated and then two other tables were seated. I don't know if there was simply an overload all at once for the kitchen or what but when it takes an hour for food to arrive, it's really unacceptable. The waitresses continued to apologize but it doesn't really help after a while. It ended up being ok because we had no other place to go and enjoy each other's company but there were some tables that waited even longer than us and it was uncomfortable having them look over and we have food and they've been waiting longer than an hour for theirs. For a restaurant that has been in business for so long, you'd think they'd have it figured out but they clearly don't. If you're on the fence about going - go. Just make sure you have time to spare - at least two - three hours for dinner. Relax and enjoy a great meal. We'll definitely be back. read more

This was supposed to be a nice birthday dinner...instead it turned into a nightmare. The restaurant smelt like smoke not from there fire place but from the nasty bar. The place looked like it was about to fall down. There are pieced of wall missing and insulation coming through the many many cracks. Then there was the worst food on this planet!!!! We should have known better then to order alligator in AK but we thought why not this place is suppose to be good. WRONG WRONG. We got our main course and I took one bit of my Oscar fillet minion.....this came with what they said was a bernaise sauce. No it was some sort of slimy gross curry tasting concoction. We didn't even stay for dessert. The bill was $85 for something I didn't even take home to my dogs!!! Take my advice and don't waste your time or money!!! read more
